00:18I'm really excited because I've been waiting to get my hands on this phone
00:21ever since Samsung announced it.
00:22As you guys know, I've always been a fan of the Z Flip line.
00:25This is because in the advent of folding phone technology,
00:29I've always wanted a phone, and this is due to also my smaller hands
00:33and smaller pockets, that folded smaller versus a phone,
00:37a normal-sized phone that unfolded into a bigger tablet.
00:40And hence, my love for the Flip line developed.
00:42Previous flips with their cute colors and the different form factor,
00:46which added into selfie-taking, just drew me in so much.
00:51This year's Z Flip 3 is a little special with the same foldable form factor,
00:54a bigger display screen, and a new look.
00:57And also, as usual, really cute colors like lavender.
01:01There's also a pink one that you can order exclusively on the Samsung website.
01:04And of course, I ordered it, but it's gonna take a little while for it to ship.
01:08So in the meantime, we're doing the lavender.
01:10All those new things going for the Z Flip 3, I needed to see for myself.
01:14Let's unbox.
01:16So quite literally, there isn't a lot going on in this phone's unboxing.
01:20I mean, look at how thin the box is on this thing.
01:22It's a pretty straightforward experience.
01:24You have a SIM tool, your paperwork, a Verizon card,
01:28a charging cord, and no charging brick.
01:31I really do think this is a pretty phone, so all the more it deserves a montage.
01:54First of all, look at how nicely this fits into my tiny little hands.
02:11I love it.
02:12So how does it feel to unfold this phone?
02:16Well, surprisingly, very natural.
02:20So that hinge just disappears when this phone is unfolded.
02:25And when you fold it, this thing doesn't really snap.
02:31I don't want to flip it open.
02:32I feel like this is a better way to do that because as you can see, that hinge basically
02:40sticks at whatever angle you put it at.
02:43I like that because that also means more angle options for selfie-ing and taking photos and
02:50videos on this device.
02:52Of course, this isn't a review and these are just my first impressions on the phone.
02:57After all, I really did just unbox this thing.
03:00But I will say though that it feels very sturdy and it doesn't feel flimsy at all.
03:06The screen on this thing feels like any other flip I've tried before, although Samsung did
03:12say that this screen is supposed to be more durable than previous flip versions.
03:17And yeah, for tiny-handed people like me, this feels so comfortable in hand.
03:23And I gotta say, this new look feels like it's a more mature version of the flip phones.
03:29Obviously, I am loving this lavender, but you guys, I ordered a pink one and yes, they
03:35do have that color exclusively on the Samsung website.
03:38Unfortunately, it comes in later.
03:40So yeah, stay tuned for that video because definitely that one's gonna be fun.
03:46This button wakes up that screen and you get the cute little display.
03:50Arguably, this is one of the big improvements of the Z Flip.
03:54We now have so much space on this screen and as you can see, we have these cute little
03:59themes and you can even add your own background on there.
04:03Of course, you can also swipe around so you have alarms, different widgets, and you can
04:10customize what's on there.
04:12On the left, you also have your notifications.
04:15Double tapping gives you the camera and then you can swipe for video, swipe back for photo,
04:21and swipe up, you go wide, swipe down, back to 1x.
04:25It's the same thing for video.
04:27This is pretty cool because you get to do this.
04:30I've propped the camera up and we're ready for a photo.
04:37I mean, not a very good one as you can see because I was covering my face with the camera
04:42but look at that detail and that's basically how you do a selfie using this phone's rear
04:47camera and the cover screen.
04:51Nice.
04:53Right, camera tour time.
04:56Let's unflip.
04:57Let's start off with the interesting thing.
04:59You see that tiny square up top?
05:01When you tap it, it turns on your cover screen preview.
05:05Did you notice what happened?
05:09Let's do that again.
05:13Yup.
05:14So specifically, that's very useful for if you wanna take photos with a rear camera with
05:20a phone flex.
05:21You also get this preview which will allow you better remote selfies.
05:26And you saw that when you unfold the phone, the screen is bigger.
05:31When you fold it, just a better view all around for photo taking.
05:35You close the phone all the way though, that stops and if you want to get to the camera
05:40using the rear cameras with a preview, you can double tap here.
05:44This is sort of like the selfie mode with the phone closed because when you unfold,
05:51there we go.
05:52We're on selfie.
05:53On photos, you have wide, 1x, 2x, 4x, 10x, up until, wait, well, it's up until 10x.
06:05Now, at the bottom, you can see that is a person because it is recognizing that there's
06:11a person in the shot.
06:12You can turn that off, so scene optimizer off right there.
06:16Up top, you have settings, flash settings, timer settings, you also have size settings
06:21and then the motion photo toggle.
06:24This is the different filters that you can do.
06:27So you have preset ones here but in Samsung phones, you can do my filters which is basically
06:36getting the same filter from a specific photo already existing and applying it to other
06:41stuff that you post.
06:43So that's pretty cool because if you're doing like a whole aesthetic thing on your IG feed,
06:49this can be very useful.
06:50You also have face that's turned off right now but a very specific beauty mode.
06:55Now, I always say this, beauty mode, use it just like makeup, let it enhance the real
07:00you but flaws are normal.
07:02On the right side, you have video mode.
07:05You have wide, you have 1x, 2x, 4x, oh, that's Joshua in the back there, say hi.
07:16And you can do up until, oh, 10x.
07:24Up top is settings, flash settings.
07:26There is a steady mode here.
07:28You have wide and 1x on steady mode but as you can see, it's a little cropped in of course.
07:34You can shoot in Ultra HD 60, 30, Full HD 60, 30, and also HD at 30fps.
07:42And under more, this is a lot.
07:45So you have Bixby Vision AR, you have AR Doodle on this phone.
07:50So we have to download that but you guys know what AR Doodle is from previous Samsung phones.
07:55There is a pro mode on here and that gives you all the many different settings.
08:00You can do wide, you can do 1x, you can do, oh, 10x.
08:05There's a panorama mode, a food mode, a night mode.
08:09You can do wide, 1x, 10x.
08:12You have different settings.
08:14You have portrait video, nice.
08:17You see how that changed the background so everything behind me is now blurred.
08:21You can also change the intensity, see.
08:26And there are different like blur effects.
08:29Oh, and the glitch filter is here.
08:31You also have pro video, also great for people who want to shoot cinematic movies on smartphones.
08:39You can do wide, 2x up until, oh, 10x.
08:44You can see audio levels on here and all the different settings that you can switch around.
08:50Oh, there's also an option to record audio through your phone, USB, Bluetooth.
08:57You have super slow-mo, of course, slow-mo, hyperlapse, and director's view.
09:03This basically allows you to like switch between camera lenses as you're shooting.
09:08And then we move on to portrait.
09:12And as you can see, my background just blurred.
09:15You can toggle intensity so that's zero and then this is seven.
09:19And then you have your different filters.
09:23On the other side, there is single take mode.
09:26If you press this, you can see the different shots you can get.
09:30And basically what this does is it takes a really, really short clip.
09:37And after that's done, this mode picks out, edits the best shots.
09:43It even makes shifts, crops in, adds filter.
09:46It's a pretty interesting, cool mode.
09:49And this is the best way to sort of get social media posts.
09:52So, of course, there is a single take mode on selfie and on portrait mode.

10:00Can we zoom in?
10:01No.
10:02You can also toggle the intensity of the bokeh.
10:06And you have your different filters.
10:09Up here, you have settings.
10:11And of course, let's turn it on.
10:14You can do palm shutter, floating shutter, or even voice shutter.
10:18Of course, palm shutter is still my favorite.
10:21And this is a mode that works even with your cover.
10:25On the right, we have photos.
10:27And you also have that wide.
10:29Your different filters.
10:30You can toggle intensity.
10:32You have the same filter options that we saw on the rear cameras.
10:36And your beauty mode is in here as well.
10:38You have video.
10:40And you can shoot in ultra HD 60fps, 30fps, full HD 60, full HD 30, under full HD 30.
10:50This doesn't seem to work.
10:52Any resolution higher.
10:53But you can do also your different filters, intensity, and beauty mode.
11:00Yes, beauty mode or smoothness on video.
11:03And then we're back to more.
11:05So now, time for some sample shots.
11:21And that was our first look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
11:25Really excited to get my hands on this.
11:27And I'm so curious to see how this phone fares in real life.
11:31Of course, it's not a full review.
11:32And I've only just unboxed this thing.
11:34So I'd need way more time with this phone.
11:37But I can tell you one thing now.
11:39With that $1,000 price tag, this phone has managed to create so much hype.
11:44As early as now, I've gotten a lot of questions from friends and family
11:48asking about this phone.
11:49And that doesn't happen a lot for foldables.
11:53Right now, it's too early to tell for me if this is a solid device.
11:57If it's actually worth it.
11:59But I can tell you now that if Samsung does succeed with the Z Flip 3,
12:04this might just be the tipping point for foldables.
12:07Play its cards right.
12:08The Z Flip 3 might just be the phone that flips foldables over from novel to normal.
