00:00We're finally getting a bigger cover screen on a Samsung Flip.
00:03♪
00:20Good day, you beautiful people.
00:21Welcome to Issa Does Tech, where we do tech in your life, in style.
00:24Today's video, and you guys know I love this,
00:27is all about the new Samsung Z Flip 5.
00:31Yes, they were just announced.
00:32Yes, we got our hands on them for a hot second.
00:35And yes, I am very excited about them.
00:38So this video is our first look at Samsung's newest clamshell foldies.
00:42And we also did get a chance to look at the new Z Fold 5.
00:46So I'll have another video on that coming up soon.
00:48But let's start with the phone whose previous iterations
00:51I actually used as daily drivers.
00:54This is the new Samsung Z Flip 5.
00:56♪
01:22Yes, you got that right.
01:23There is a new, bigger cover screen.
01:25I'm so happy about that.
01:26But yeah, let's take a step back.
01:28For those who are curious, like I said earlier,
01:29I did use the Z Flip 3 and the Z Flip 4 as daily drivers.
01:33Then we got new clamshell foldies in the market.
01:36And they were looking very competitive.
01:38You had the Oppo Find N2 Flip,
01:40which had a bigger and vertical cover screen.
01:43Well, a bigger screen than the Z Flip 3.
01:45And then we also have the newly released Moto Razr flip phones,
01:48which that had the biggest screen on a flip phone.
01:52And yes, I will have a vid on that phone coming.
01:54But yes, my point in saying is that
01:55there were finally other clamshell foldies,
01:58non-Samsung ones that were coming out
02:01that were looking like viable flip phone options.
02:04And so with this new flip,
02:05I think that Samsung actually really went
02:07and listened to what people were saying they were wanting
02:09and tried to give us that.
02:11I mean, they better because now there are
02:13other clamshell foldies in the market available to consumers.
02:17So basically, the big changes on the Flip 5
02:19include one, that beautiful big cover screen.
02:23Uh, two, a flatter fold.
02:27Well, hinge.
02:28A flatter folding hinge.
02:31A hinge that folds flatter.
02:32More on this later.
02:33And of course, three, a better flagship processor.
02:37That new 3.4-inch cover display is a game changer, I'd say.
02:42Like, you can actually tell the difference it makes.
02:44Personally, I'm excited to test this out
02:46for flex mode selfies just to see how it performs.
02:49This new screen just means a way better selfie preview.
02:52From previous flips, which basically gave you a smaller image
02:57just so it could fit the whole frame
02:59on that horizontal cover screen.
03:01But another big thing that I'm excited about,
03:04more cover screen functionalities.
03:05Samsung now claims that you can quick reply
03:08on the cover screen using QWERTY.
03:11Surely a big deal because finally.
03:13And yes, this includes speech-to-text and quick responses.
03:17More widgets are also coming on that cover screen
03:19and now you can even zoom in and zoom out of stuff on it.
03:23And of course, there are even more display customizations
03:26which I like that.
03:27We're also getting a better hinge.
03:29One that looks flatter.
03:31This is what I was talking about earlier
03:32with that hinge folding.
03:35And as with every release,
03:36there's a promise that this is a more durable flip.
03:39They claim 200,000 folds on this new flip.
03:42Partnered with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Armor Aluminum,
03:45this thing is also IPX8 rated.
03:49I obviously want the lavender phone
03:51but this thing also comes in mint, in cream.
03:54That cream looks good too.
03:55And graphite.
03:56Finally, this thing also gets a processor upgrade.
03:58A Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip
04:01which is the best of the best right now
04:03that you can get in terms of flagship processors.
04:06We get the same battery capacity,
04:08the same megapixel count on the wide
04:11and the ultra wide cameras
04:13used as the main cameras on this phone.
04:15And the same 10 megapixel selfie camera
04:17but with a slightly bigger aperture.
04:20But yes, all of those new things.
04:22Let's take a closer look at the phone.
05:17First off, that folding is still a satisfying experience.
05:41That bigger screen and cameras up front,
05:43we still get a crease and let me tell you guys,
05:46all foldy phones still have it.
05:48It's just how it works when things fold.
05:51But I will say again,
05:52as someone who uses a foldable phone,
05:55these creases are not something
05:56you normally usually really notice
05:59when you're already on the phone.
06:01On the side, there's a volume rocker
06:02and unlock button with a fingerprint scanner.
06:05At the bottom, speakers and a USB-C port
06:07and on the other side of this phone is a SIM tray.
06:10For comparison, here are the Flip 4 and Flip 5 side by side
06:14and you can most definitely see
06:16one, the screen size difference
06:18and two, that gap difference when folded.
06:46I've been waiting for this update for ages
06:49ever since we came up with the first ever Z Flip
06:52and it's finally here.
06:53We finally get that great big cover screen.
06:57But what remains to be seen
06:58is how useful this bigger cover screen will be
07:01because size does matter
07:02but it's not the only thing that matters.
07:05I basically want to see how well they utilize
07:07this bigger screen with actual phone functionalities
07:10and of course, I'd like to see better hardware camera specs
07:13and or a bigger battery on a Flip
07:15but I'm not mad at what they've created
07:17on this Flip 5 iteration.
07:19They changed it up where it matters to me
07:21and I'm definitely excited to test this new phone out.
07:24And that's it for this video, you guys.
07:26Let me know what you think.
07:27Let me know what your questions are.
07:28Let me know what you'd want me to test out
07:32on these new phones when I finally get my hands on them.
