00:00Good day, you beautiful people. Welcome to Isara's Tech, where we do tech in your life, in style.
00:26This is the Realme 8 Pro, which we just unboxed, and this phone is headlining Realme's 8 series.
00:31This phone is looking pretty bold, with bold claims when it comes to its cameras. This thing
00:35is repping a 108 megapixel shooter. But I'mma jump into this. This back is pretty interesting,
00:42and people have thoughts. Though this might be a big look for some, it's not entirely new. We've
00:47seen this design in China-released devices. And though it's not my favorite cup of tea,
00:52fortune favors the bold. And man, Realme was bold here. Personally, I'd still rather this
00:59than a boring black slab of a phone. Before we get into all of that real
01:02quickly, here's what you get in beautiful montage format.
01:22So here's the deal. I really want to talk to you about these cameras. Well, yeah, I mean, I always
01:36want to talk about cameras, but even more so, these cameras. Like I mentioned earlier, this
01:40is a 108 megapixel main shooter on here. And that's pretty cool, because that's a feature we usually
01:45find on flagship devices, now on a mid-range-priced phone. So consider me curious. Before we move on
01:51real quickly, what is the deal with these higher megapixel counts? In a nutshell, a higher megapixel
01:56count really only means a bigger photo, and in turn, better details on the photo you just took.
02:03But it's really not just that. In today's tech, the higher megapixel count uses pixel binning to
02:08create smaller but better photos. So in this particular case, that Samsung 108 megapixel
02:15camera does 9-in-1 pixel binning. Squeezes in 9 pixels in 1 pixel, basically to create better
02:22photos, and even in low-light scenarios. Aside from that feat, this phone, according to Realme,
02:28does 3x lossless zoom. So of course that's what we're doing. We're testing all that out in this
02:34video. Aside from that main 108 megapixel camera, this wraps an 8 megapixel wide, a 2 megapixel
02:41black and white portrait lens, and a 2 megapixel macro lens. Those 108 megapixel main shooters are
02:47good cameras, as is evidenced by these samples. Now, there is a 108 megapixel mode, which allows
02:54you to shoot 108 megapixel photos. Obviously, bigger photos than what is normally shot on the
03:00One X, as you can see here. That means you can crop in without losing quality, and the rightmost
03:06photos are actually cropped in versions of the middle photos, which were shot on the 108 megapixel mode.
03:14These cameras go from wide to 20x, which are pretty useful for spotting random kitties you find
03:21in your house. Like, oh my god, it's just staring at me, and it won't stop following me.
03:27What is going on?
03:34Kitty is pretty cute. DBH 5x now. And I don't know what this intruder is doing right now,
03:42but she's pretty cute. Look at her in 3x. But girl, you have to leave because we have dogs,
03:48and here he is in wide 1x and zoomed in glory. And speaking of the zoom, it is pretty useful,
03:55and it allows for perspectives other than the 1x, and the 3x does look good. Like I said,
04:02this thing can do up until 20x, though I'd suggest going for the 3x. Past that,
04:08images tend to get noisier, and yes, that's my dog. She's doing fine, she's just napping,
04:12and that kitty better look out because my dog is a fierce doggy.
04:17The wide shooter does okay, great for taking those wider OOTD shots, although side by side
04:26with a 108MP camera, I mean that camera is pretty good, you can see the difference.
04:37There's also a macro shooter, which may come in handy for certain shots of tiny sparkly things,
04:42although I know that's a very specific use case. Then there's the portrait mode,
04:48which gives you a creamy bokeh that's adjustable, looks good, and there are different effects,
04:54like this dynamic bokeh, which almost makes me look like I'm moving, but this is me posing
04:58and staying still for that photo. And there's also that AI color mode.
05:02Now cutouts aren't always perfect, no portrait mode is perfect, but this phone can most definitely
05:08give you those nice portraits with creamy, creamy bokehs.
05:14And now you're seeing the 16MP selfie camera, this is me shooting 1080p 30fps with it,
05:21and you can do bokeh mode, and the same AI color filters. There's also a live AI beauty mode,
05:30so as you can see, I'm a little smoother, this is 65%, I mean, I usually use it at a lower level,
05:37just so I look a little fresh, but yeah, just so you can see, here it is, and yes guys, I'm fully
05:44aware that we should love the real us, but the beauty mode is fun if you use it just like makeup
05:49to enhance the real you. Right, we're shooting with the rear cameras now, this is 1x 1080p 30fps,
06:01and you can do 2x, 5x,
06:12you can also do wide on this resolution, but you can't really zoom in or out.
06:18This on the other hand is 1080p 60fps, and it can't do wide, but it can do up until 2x,
06:253x, 4x, 5x, and 10x. And finally, this is 4k, and I can do 1x, 2x, 5x, up until 10x.
06:43And also live bokeh mode, so as you can see, behind me everything is blurred, and I am the focus.
06:51And if I wanted to take it up a notch, I could do this, which are available filters on the phone.
07:21There's also super slow-mo video mode that does 960fps,
07:26that almost looks like you're freezing time and can make for really cute doggy videos.
07:52And for those who vlog, a steady mode and a steady mode max, see the difference in this comparison.
08:05So Realme was the one that kept on pushing for those starry night modes,
08:09so I'm super curious to see just how those low-light claims stack up. Let's go.
08:15Not the best lighting right now, but it serves our purpose. We're gonna check out the night mode,
08:20turn off bedroom light.
08:25Turn on background lamp.
08:30There we go.
08:36Oh, that's pretty cool. Aside from that, there is a pro night mode, so as you can see,
08:41you can switch around all those settings. Right, just a little bit more. We just need the stars.
08:49The stars.
08:50I've tried Realme's starry night mode before, and it's pretty cool,
08:53though for actual night shots, you need stars, which there weren't a lot of the night I shot this.
09:00Though it's still super impressive how bright the photos turned out,
09:04considering it was pretty dark when I was shooting these.
09:11There's also a timelapse version, which could have been pretty cool if only we had stars.
09:17Right, that's it for today's look at the Realme 8 Pro's camera.
09:20If you're the type of user who relies heavily on camera performance,
09:24when it comes to the smartphones you pick out, this might be a phone you'll want to check out.
09:28That's it for today's video. If you want to know how I use my tech on a daily basis,
