00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. gave the delegates of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference

00:16The ongoing and increasing climate change or change of the times,
00:23according to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., requires deeper cooperation.
00:29That is why at the ministerial dinner last night,
00:32the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction
00:38gave the delegates of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction the importance.
00:40Sixty-eight countries from different parts of the world are included here,
00:45including the top leaders of the government, civil society, private companies, and academies.
00:54Its purpose is to discuss the effective response to the upcoming calamities,
01:00to make our region stable and sustainable in the face of climate change.
01:05Through this conference, we are presented with the opportunity to explore new avenues of collaboration,
01:12especially in leveraging science and technology to alleviate the impact of climate change
01:17and ensuring that disaster risk reduction financing is accessible to all.
01:22The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction is the host of the event in the Philippines.
01:29According to the UN, natural hazards cannot be avoided,
01:33but it is up to us to stop the effects of these hazards on people and livelihoods.
01:39The role of the Philippines is important.
01:42The country has shown its resilience in the face of the climate crisis,
01:46such as typhoons, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.
01:51That is why it is expected to share its vision and experience
01:55in helping communities in times of disaster.
01:59It's a lighthouse which will give inspiration to countries not just in Asia-Pacific,
02:04but beyond Asia-Pacific to across the world.
02:07All the work the policy wants to, the technical experts do,
02:11has to all come together at the level of communities.
02:15This recognition is nowhere more vibrant than in the Philippines.
02:21The second thing why the Philippines is a lighthouse, you work across sectors.
02:27The third, civil society engagement.
02:30It is expected to exchange best practices and invest in strategies
02:36to reduce the effects of climate change,
02:39and deepen the friendship of each country.
02:44The summit began yesterday and will last until October 18.
