00:15Because of that, a Disaster Risk Reduction Exhibit was opened recently.

01:11and it's really held together with the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction

01:17and also for the International Day on Disaster Risk Reduction on Children and Youth.

01:21The photographs in this exhibition

01:24were taken in Barangay Tumana in Marikina City.

01:29It shows the new disaster management infrastructure that is being built there.

01:36Many residents, even though they are always flooded,

01:40are still staying in the community of Tumana.

01:43And here, I am showing how their engagement in their landscape changes

01:48while the physical infrastructure that they have is also changing.

01:52The exhibit shows the steps and solutions

01:57that can be done to reduce the risk in times of calamity.

02:04What did these people do during, before, and after the disaster

02:13that caused them to survive and thrive in the future

02:17that they actually have because they survived the disaster?

02:22There are many things to learn from this exhibit.

02:26Meanwhile, you can also see emergency equipment and kits

02:30such as first aid kits and emergency and rescue tools.

02:35In spite of the dangers brought by natural disasters,

02:39it is important to be prepared and help each other.

02:42Being prepared and having the right knowledge is key to safety.

02:48Our real purpose is about hope

02:51because we know that disaster risk is increasing.

02:54We know that this is one of the most disaster risk prone regions in the world.

02:59It's a super risk. There's an increase in cyclones.

03:02There's an increase of floods. There are earthquakes.

03:05A lot of risk driven by climate change.

03:08It could cause you to despair but our message here is one of hope.

03:12We can do it and we've got concrete projects from around the world

03:16whether it's one from the Philippines about using fat to make soap

03:21or building resilient infrastructure. It's one about hope.

03:25Our message to children and youth and to all the ministers and the delegates here is

03:30we can do this. We are ready.
