00:00Hello. There will be some bright, fine and warm weather around for many of us at times
00:05this weekend, but also some rain pushing through. However, first, let's look at what happened
00:10yesterday. There were some heavy thunderstorms that developed across central southern England
00:16and with the intense rainfall, there was around 80 to 100 millimetres of rain in just an hour
00:22for some places, which did lead to a bit of flooding and frequent lightning with around
00:267,000 lightning strikes recorded across England in just 12 hours. But those thunderstorms
00:32cleared away towards the east overnight. That being said, we have seen some showers developing
00:37across some parts of eastern England already this morning. And then towards the northwest
00:42of the UK, here we have a front pushing its way in. So across Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:47is turned cloudier and it's turned wetter. That front then is going to continue to edge
00:51a bit further eastwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland as we go through this afternoon.
00:56But bearing in mind there'll be some blustery winds with this and the rain could turn quite
01:00heavy at times. There may even be some thunder as well. A few more showers to come across
01:05eastern parts of England, though these are going to clear away later on. Meanwhile, further
01:09west across eastern parts of the Midlands and towards Lincolnshire, a lot of bright
01:13sunny weather to be had also across central southern England too. But further west into
01:17the West Midlands, Wales, Northern England and southwest England turning cloudier as
01:21we go through the afternoon and a few spots of rain possible. Still quite hot across parts
01:26of the east of England and temperatures here getting into the high 20s yet again, but a
01:31slightly fresher feel to things elsewhere, especially towards the northwest in that blustery
01:36wet weather here. As we go through the evening, we are going to see that front continuing
01:41its progress across the country. And so rain spilling in across many parts of England and
01:46Wales with something a bit clearer, a bit fresher following in behind for Scotland and
01:51Northern Ireland. As a result, actually across Scotland and Northern Ireland, it's probably
01:56going to turn a bit chilly tonight in the sheltered glens of Scotland, for example.
02:01We could get to low single figures Celsius, but across much of England and Wales where
02:06we have that front pushing its way in. Yes, the rain's easing, but we are going to have
02:10quite a bit of cloud. So again, temperatures holding up another relatively warm night for
02:15many of us. First thing tomorrow, it is going to be quite grey, quite cloudy across parts
02:20of England and Wales. There will be some outbreaks of rain around and these could be
02:24a bit heavy at times, particularly across some parts of eastern southeastern England
02:28at times. Worth bearing in mind as we go through the day, there could be some pulses of rain
02:31pushing their way up. So although it's looking largely dry across the southern counties,
02:37we could have some rain making its way in at times across Scotland, Northern Ireland,
02:41plenty of showers around some of these heavy at times and then in between across the rest
02:46of England and Wales actually looking largely dry, bright and sunny. And with that feeling
02:51a pleasantly warm temperatures, not as high as they have been through much of this week,
02:55but nonetheless getting into the mid 20s Celsius towards the southeast and generally mid to
02:59high teens or low 20s further towards the northwest. Any showers in the or any showery
03:05rain in the southeast will clear away as we go through Saturday evening. But there's more
03:09wet weather to come in from the northwest as we go through Sunday. So turning pretty
03:14wet there and that means we're likely to start the new working week off on a pretty
03:19wet note towards the northwest of the UK, but towards the southeast it is going to start
03:23that little bit dry and brighter before perhaps some rain pushes through later. I'll see you
03:28again soon. Bye bye.
