00:00Hello, welcome to your National Evening Weather Update from the Met Office.
00:05Thunderstorms generally easing but turning more unsettled from the west with longer spells
00:09of rain.
00:10This is all to do with higher pressure moving its way eastwards, allowing lower pressure
00:14to come in from the Atlantic to bring heavy and persistent rain for some on Monday.
00:20But back to this evening, we've still got some heavy thundery showers around.
00:24They're generally going to be moving their way northwards, affecting north-eastern parts
00:28of England and then into Scotland later.
00:30Elsewhere, turning drier, we'll see some clearer skies developing across eastern parts.
00:35Still the chance of seeing the northern lights but there is a lot of cloud around.
00:39Best chance of viewing is probably going to be in the north.
00:42A lot of cloud, low cloud across the south and western parts as well, with a lot of cloud
00:48still around and warm temperatures.
00:50It is going to be another mild night with temperatures really around 11 or 12 degrees.
00:57So mild start to Monday, a bit of cloud around, that low cloud across the Midlands and East
01:02Anglia should generally break up through the day, allowing plenty of sunshine to develop
01:07once again.
01:08We'll see some showers breaking out across parts of Scotland but we have got heavy and
01:13persistent rain coming in from the west and we do have some weather warnings in force
01:17for this.
01:18These are yellow rain warnings, so expect some difficult driving conditions and some
01:22spray on the road.
01:23We've got some brisk winds as well coming up from the south, but like I said, some brighter
01:28skies further the east you go, it will still be feeling warm here, perhaps not as warm
01:33as what we've seen over the weekend, but across the western parts, underneath all this cloud
01:38and rain, temperatures struggling here at around 15 or 16 degrees.
01:44So through Monday evening, that cloud and rain is going to continue to push its way
01:48slowly north and eastwards, so could be some difficult driving conditions at rush hour,
01:53moving further into southeastern parts and then gradually pushing its way northwards.
01:59Behind that we'll see some clear spells, but also some blustery showers coming in to southwestern
02:04parts.
02:05But there is a lot of cloud around once again, so it's going to be another mild night, especially
02:10underneath this cloud and rain, with temperatures holding up here at around 13 or 14 degrees.
02:17So a bit of a contrast on Tuesday, it's going to be a damper start across much of northern
02:21England, even into east Anglia and southeast.
02:25But behind that we should see some brighter skies developing, sunny spells, but also quite
02:30frequent scattered showers, and some of these still could be on the heavy side.
02:35So temperatures not as warm again as what we've seen over the weekend, but still feeling
02:39pleasant where you do see the sunshine, with highs of maybe 18 or even 20 degrees.
02:46So a changeable week is in store, but if you want more details on that, be sure to
02:51check out our YouTube channel so you don't miss a forecast, and I'll catch you soon.
02:55Bye bye.
