00:00Good afternoon. There's a spell of quite heavy rain to come for some northern and
00:04western areas of the UK this afternoon but the southeast will feel quite
00:08spring-like in any sunshine but there has been quite a lot of cloud around to
00:11start the day. That's as a result of this area of low pressure just to the west of
00:16us dragging in these weather fronts on a southerly wind. It's very mild air across
00:21us though so it will be feeling very mild wherever you are. However where
00:24these weather fronts are we've got some quite persistent and heavy rain
00:27particularly across parts of Scotland and now spreading into the southwest
00:30through the afternoon. So there is a rain warning in force for parts of Devon and
00:34Cornwall and South Wales as well so there could be some spray on the roads
00:37and travel delays in these areas. Further south and east though it should stay dry
00:42through much of the day and with those sunny spells starting to develop that's
00:47where it's going to feel quite spring-like. Highs of possibly close to
00:5017 degrees. We'll see 16 degrees quite widely for eastern areas of England as
00:55well as parts of North Devon we could see 16 degrees despite that rain and
00:59cloud. Across northern areas of Scotland as well it will turn a bit drier after
01:03quite a wet start to the day as that rain starts to push further east. We'll
01:08spread in parts of the Midlands where we've got some quite sensitive river
01:11catchment areas here so there's another rain warning in force here and then into
01:15the southeast that's when this evening is when you'll see that spell of wet
01:18weather. But through Friday night the general story is for things to turn a
01:21little bit drier and clearer so there will be a few clear spells out there
01:25tonight so a slightly cooler night but we've still got that mild air upon us so
01:29it's still fairly mild for the time of year definitely a frost free night
01:33across the UK. And we've got a ridge of high pressure building in for Friday so
01:38once that rain does clear the southeast tomorrow morning it should be a much
01:42drier and brighter day for most areas. It won't be entirely dry there will be some
01:47clouds thick enough to bring the odd isolated showers across coastal areas
01:51and the high ground as well particularly across the north in the morning but
01:55there'll definitely be some sunshine to be had and we've still got that mild air
01:59so we're still feeling fairly pleasant in the sunshine. Highs of 14 or 15
02:03degrees quite widely particularly in the south. There's another batch of rain to
02:07come into the weekend that's as we've got further weather fronts pushing in
02:11from the Atlantic so quite a cloudy day to come on Saturday and a spell of
02:14particularly heavy rain through Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening that will
02:18push clear out through Sunday but you can find more details on your weekend
02:22forecast with Alex Burkill a little later on today on YouTube. See you later
02:25on.
