00:00Big contrasts with the temperatures at the moment.
00:03It's much milder across the north compared to the south,
00:05where it was a very cold start to Monday.
00:08And not much is changing, certainly
00:10for the next couple of days.
00:11We've got some sunshine across the south.
00:13We've also got some stubborn fog patches.
00:15And cloud is now creeping into parts of East Anglia
00:18and the southeast.
00:19With the cold air in place here, that
00:21is going to keep things pretty cold.
00:23Meanwhile, although it's cloudy further north,
00:24the milder air is in place, a bit damp and drizzly
00:27over southwest Scotland, northwest England,
00:29some patchy rain in the far northwest of Scotland as well.
00:32But this is where we have the milder air,
00:34so temperatures getting up to double figures.
00:36Whereas further south, even with the sunshine,
00:385, 6 degrees at best, where that fog sticks,
00:42temperatures are going to struggle to get much above zero.
00:44So as I said, quite big contrast that
00:46will continue through this evening and overnight.
00:49With the clear skies across the south,
00:51it's going to turn frosty very quickly.
00:53And again, it could turn foggy, particularly
00:54in the zones from Lincolnshire and Norfolk
00:56down to Devon and Powys.
00:59That zone in particular, where it'll be frosty overnight,
01:02could also see some thick fog patches forming.
01:05Not quite so cold across the southeast
01:07and the east of East Anglia, a bit more cloud just stumbling
01:10here overnight.
01:11That should stop the fog forming,
01:13and it will help to keep the temperature up a little bit.
01:15Certainly, temperatures held up further north
01:17by more cloud and some drizzly conditions persisting,
01:21turning a bit damp across the far northwest of Scotland
01:24again.
01:24But it will be a mild night here,
01:26whereas we will have that frost forming and forming quickly
01:29where we have these clearer skies across Northern England,
01:31Wales, the Midlands, and South West England too.
01:35So into Tuesday, it's a similar story to Monday.
01:37Some dense fog around through that morning rush hour.
01:40But that should steadily clear, and then we'll
01:43have generally another fine, bright day
01:44for most of England and Wales.
01:46But it will be cloudier across the Essex coast
01:48down through Kent, down towards Hampshire,
01:51and cloudier conditions across much of Northern England,
01:53Northern Ireland, and Western Scotland,
01:55where there will continue to be not heavy rain,
01:58but rain and drizzle on and off for much of the day.
02:00Something a bit brighter across the north coast of Northern
02:03Ireland and through Aberdeenshire,
02:04we could see some sunny spells as well.
02:07And with the winds coming from the southwest,
02:09it could lead to temperatures here getting up
02:11into the teens perhaps, certainly 12 Celsius possible.
02:1510 or 11 generally across the north further south.
02:17Again, only temperatures 5 or 6 Celsius
02:20despite some good sunny spells.
02:22And if the fog persists, we're going
02:24to struggle to get much above freezing.
02:25So again, that contrast between north and south,
02:28which will continue through Tuesday evening.
02:31Again, look at that.
02:32The blue really quickly turning on,
02:35telling us the frosts returning rapidly on Tuesday evening
02:38across the south.
02:39But just notice up here, this line of rain.
02:42That's a weather front.
02:43And that will just mix things up a little bit
02:45as we go through the middle part of the week.
02:47High pressure is still dominating,
02:49but this weather front will sink southwards,
02:52bringing a little bit of rain as it drifts its way southwards
02:55during Wednesday into parts of England and Wales
02:58before clearing away.
02:59And then high pressure building back
03:01in behind that weather front.
03:04Some weather fronts bringing some patchy rain
03:05to the far northwest towards the end of the week.
03:07But generally further south, apart from a little rain
03:10on Wednesday, most places will stay dry.
03:12It's going to turn a little milder
03:14in the south over the next few days
03:15and a little cooler further north.
03:18So we'll start to lose that contrast
03:20by the end of the week.
