00:00Welcome to your latest update from the Met Office.
00:02A bit of a cloudier day for most places today,
00:05but high pressure continuing to keep things dry.
00:08This high will stick around even through the weekend.
00:12You can see that weather fronts at times
00:14will just dribble towards the northwest of Scotland.
00:17So there will be some patchy rain here.
00:18But for most, this area of high pressure
00:21is going to keep things dry through today,
00:23through Saturday and Sunday, and probably beyond.
00:27Let's come back to today though and take a look at the picture,
00:29because there is more cloud than recent days, certainly
00:32across the Midlands, Wales, northwest England,
00:35and the eastern side of England, eastern Scotland,
00:37and across the south coast.
00:38We should still hang on to some good spells of sunshine.
00:41But generally cloudier skies, apart
00:43from a bit of drizzle over the hills,
00:45especially in the mountains of western Scotland,
00:47most will stay dry.
00:49A bit of a breeze across the northwest,
00:51but the wind is considerably lighter along the east coast
00:53compared to yesterday, so feeling a bit warmer here.
00:56Temperatures generally around average 6, 7, maybe 8
00:59or 9 in the northwest.
01:02Through this evening, with more cloud around,
01:04obviously it's not going to turn as cold as quickly.
01:06But where we keep the clear skies, down the east
01:09and perhaps across parts of the south,
01:11there will again be some pockets of frost forming.
01:14Generally though, staying fairly cloudy further west,
01:16and again, a bit of drizzly rain at times over the Highlands
01:19and the Western Isles.
01:20Temperatures, as I said, won't be as low.
01:22Still some pockets of frost where we keep some clear skies,
01:25maybe even a little bit of fog in places.
01:27But for most, temperature is quite a bit higher
01:30than last night, and for most,
01:31we won't start the weekend with a frost.
01:34We will start with a lot of cloud though,
01:35so a fairly grey Saturday morning.
01:38Not everywhere though, again,
01:39there will be some breaks in the cloud,
01:41most likely over parts of eastern England,
01:42northeast Scotland, and again, further south,
01:45parts of southwest England, south Wales as well.
01:48There will be thicker cloud though in western Scotland
01:51and some rain and drizzle at times
01:52from that weak weather front,
01:54where it will also stay fairly breezy.
01:56The far north may actually brighten up a little bit
01:59at times during Saturday afternoon.
02:02Temperatures, well, actually ticking up a little bit.
02:04We're not going to start as frosty,
02:06and generally up to eight, nine, maybe 10 Celsius.
02:09The Murray coast may get up to 12 Celsius.
02:13That could be the warmest part of the UK.
02:14So just feeling a little milder through Saturday,
02:17although obviously for many of us,
02:18we won't have the sunshine.
02:20During Saturday evening, again, not a great deal of change,
02:22some rain across the Highlands, Argyll and Bute,
02:25but further south, most places staying dry.
02:28Well, we have a few breaks in the cloud,
02:29again, a little bit of frost as possible on Sunday morning.
02:33But generally, Sunday is going to be a similar day.
02:35Yes, there could be some patchy rain in the northwest,
02:37but for the vast majority, it's going to stay dry.
02:40Quite a lot of cloud around,
02:41but some breaks in the cloud and a bit of sunshine.
02:44Light winds for most,
02:45but it will still be quite windy across northern Scotland.
02:48The isobar is still fairly close together here.
02:50And again, weather front's trying to push in
02:52during Sunday and even into Monday,
02:55but even into next week, further south, if anything,
02:57the high moves back further across through England and Wales.
03:01So a lot more dry weather to come
03:03even as we head into next week.
03:05More details, as always,
03:07if you follow us across social media.
