00:00Hello there, and welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Well, as we go through
00:03the next few days, it's going to turn exceptionally mild once again for all of us. And that's
00:08all down to the jet stream. At the moment, it's digging quite a way far south into the
00:12Mid-Atlantic, and that's allowing us to drag up some very warm air as we go through Thursday
00:17and Friday. And it's not only going to be mild by day, it's going to be exceptionally
00:20mild by night too.
00:23However, as we go through the rest of Wednesday, it's going to be particularly chilly out there
00:28across eastern parts of the country under clear skies. So a chilly start to the night,
00:32but elsewhere across the west, we're starting to see that milder air move in. A blanket
00:36of cloud will gradually work its way eastwards throughout the night, accompanied by some
00:40rain, especially so across Scotland, where it will turn quite heavy and persistent at
00:45times. Winds also strengthening as the night goes on, particularly across Northern Ireland
00:49and Scotland, risk of gales near the coast here. But temperatures as we start Thursday
00:55more like where we should be as we go into the afternoon this time of year. So 11s, 12s,
01:01very mild for the time of year. But it will start off rather cloudy for all of us. As
01:06we go through the course of the day, we will see some brightness, especially across eastern
01:11England, maybe eastern parts of Wales as well. Further north, however, probably generally
01:16staying quite cloudy, with the most persistent rain always up towards the Western Isles of
01:21Scotland and maybe the Northern Isles too. An increasingly windy day for all of us too,
01:27potentially seeing severe gales up across Scotland later on in the day. But even further
01:31south, it will be quite a breezy day, so do take a little bit of extra time if you are
01:35out on the roads, because there could be a bit of buffeting here and there. But the main
01:39talking point tomorrow is the temperatures. 15 to 16 degrees right across the country,
01:44a very mild day for the time of year.
01:47Heading into the evening across England and Wales, very little change. We could see some
01:51spits and spots of rain at times, especially across the high ground of Wales and south-west
01:54England. But the main area of rain will be focused across Northern Ireland and Scotland,
01:59where once again it will turn heavy and persistent at times and be accompanied by quite a strong
02:04wind.
02:05As we start Armistice Day on Friday, another very mild start. But again, just like Thursday,
02:10plenty of cloud around, with the rain mostly focused across Northern Ireland and Scotland.
02:15Some spits and spots further south. But I'm hopeful as the day goes on, we will see some
02:21breaks in that cloud, with some sunshine developing in places. But if anything, temperatures on
02:26Friday will be slightly up on tomorrow. So we could see 17, potentially 18 degrees, making
02:31it potentially the warmest Armistice Day on record for the UK.
02:36Heading into the rest of Friday, we will continue to see this north-west-south-east split across
02:41the country. And in fact, that will probably continue at first as we go into the weekend.
02:45But you can find more information about the weekend forecast and actually on to next week
02:50with Alex Deakin in our 10-day trend.
