00:00Hello. Welcome to your weather for the week ahead from the Met Office.
00:03The mild theme will continue through the rest of this week.
00:07And for some, it's going to get very mild, especially midweek.
00:10For some, though, it is also going to be very wet, particularly
00:13on Tuesday and Wednesday.
00:15But for all parts of the UK, the end of the week
00:18looks an awful lot drier and brighter as well,
00:21with some sunshine coming through.
00:23Let's take a look at the bigger picture.
00:25It's low pressure nearby, sitting out in the Atlantic.
00:28But these weather fronts getting thrown towards us,
00:31a tangle of weather fronts bringing
00:33heavy and persistent rain to Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:35And notice the ice abuts just huddling up there.
00:38That's always a sign that the winds are going to get lively.
00:41So Tuesday will be a wet and windy day
00:44for much of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:46We have weather warnings in place
00:48for both the wind and the rain.
00:49Also, that rain turning heavy and persistent
00:51over parts of northwest England.
00:53And for midday, we have amber warnings
00:55in place across parts of Scotland,
00:57especially the hills, the southern uplands,
00:59southern parts of the Grampians and the Highlands,
01:01where we could see over 100 millimetres of rain.
01:04For details on those weather warnings,
01:06visit our website or download the app.
01:08Some of that rain will extend into parts of North Wales
01:11as well.
01:11But for most of England and Wales,
01:13Tuesday is going to be dry.
01:14We'll hang on to some sunny spells across East Anglia
01:17and the southeast.
01:18There will be a gusty wind, very blustery in the northwest.
01:21But it's bringing mild air, double digits
01:24almost across the board and some places up into the teens
01:27where we see some sunshine.
01:29The rain should start to ease as this weather front just
01:32wriggles its way away from central Scotland
01:35during Wednesday.
01:36Always some uncertainty when you have
01:38these waves on these weather fronts.
01:39But the isobar is just opening up a touch as well.
01:42So still quite gusty on Wednesday, but not as windy.
01:46And certainly north of the central belt,
01:48the rain should be easing somewhat.
01:49But still some patchy rain over southern Scotland,
01:52northwest England, and parts of Wales to contend with.
01:55Again, much of eastern England looking dry
01:57and temperatures even higher.
01:59Look at that, 16, 17 is possible.
02:03Looking a lot drier too for Northern Ireland on Wednesday
02:05with some good spells of sunshine.
02:06There will be blustery showers in the far northwest.
02:09That weather front is still around on Wednesday
02:12into Thursday, but weakening all the while.
02:14The isobar is continuing to open out.
02:17So the winds will be dying down somewhat.
02:19But question marks about exactly where
02:21the cloud and rain lie from that weather front.
02:23It looks like it could be a bit of a damp day
02:25across parts of southern England and south Wales,
02:28but a much drier day for northern England.
02:30Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing sunshine
02:32and blustery showers on Thursday.
02:34Some of those showers could be on the heavy side.
02:36Temperatures could still get into the teens
02:38across the southeast, but it is starting to turn cooler
02:41as that weather front clears away,
02:43bringing slightly fresher air, but still double digits
02:45for many is above average for this time of year.
02:48And then here comes high pressure,
02:50just gradually building up from the southwest.
02:53That will bring for many parts of the UK a fine Friday
02:57and probably lasting into the weekend.
02:59Notice there are some weather fronts near northern Scotland,
03:02so some patchy rain is possible here.
03:04This kind of range, there's always some uncertainty
03:06about the position of those weather fronts,
03:08but the potential for a bit of rain in the far north.
03:10But most places on Friday set fair, dry and fine
03:14with sunny spells and temperatures
03:16once more on the rise up into double digits or beyond.
03:20That high pressure should hang on into the weekend as well.
03:23Although again, that weather front just to the northwest
03:26may bring a bit more cloud and rain here at times,
03:29but generally high pressure bringing a much drier end
03:32to the week.
03:33And so although at night it could still be quite chilly,
03:36it is still February after all,
03:37it will be fairly mild by day.
03:39It looks like into the weekend,
03:40especially where we see some sunshine.
03:43For the very latest though on those weather warnings,
03:46make sure you check out the app, the website,
