00:00Hello. Welcome along to your weekend forecast from the Met Office.
00:04This weekend is going to be very different to last weekend.
00:08Much, much milder for a start, but milder weather at this time of year
00:12often brings wet weather as well, and the rain is going to be especially
00:16heavy and persistent across parts of the West. We have Met Office warnings
00:20in place. It's also going to be quite windy, particularly so on Saturday.
00:24Those winds should ease down, though, by Sunday. Here's the bigger picture.
00:28It's low pressure dominating to the northwest of the UK.
00:32The wind's swirling around that area of low pressure, drawing up the warmth.
00:36These weather fronts sticking across parts of the West, bringing the rain
00:40and those isobars close together. So the winds are going to be pretty lively,
00:44especially so on Saturday. Lively winds, but also the direction
00:48is key. We've lost the easterly winds from last weekend, southwesterly
00:52winds bringing that milder air, but also bringing
00:56the moisture off the Atlantic. So further spells of rain likely, particularly
01:00on Saturday morning over Wales and southwest England. After heavy rain on Friday,
01:04extra rain could cause some further disruption. We also
01:08have yellow warnings in place across parts of Scotland as the rain sets in here, particularly
01:12the southern uplands, southern parts of the Highlands and across the Grampians.
01:16It'll be fairly soggy through the afternoon across Northern Ireland, most
01:20of Wales and northern and western parts of England. But further east
01:24we should stay largely dry and bright and with some sunshine temperature
01:28could really jump up. Northern Scotland also with southerly winds could see
01:32some of the highest temperatures. 12, 13 is possible here
01:36and even higher across the southeast if we see some lengthy spells of sunshine.
01:40Even where it's raining, it will be mild. Temperatures 11 or
01:4412 Celsius, but obviously feeling cooler with that rain and it will
01:48still be a very blustery day on Saturday. By the time
01:52we get to Sunday, low pressure still up to the northwest and this weather front
01:56still lurking around. But as we go through the day, notice the isobar is just opening
02:00up a little bit and that weather front really starting to weaken somewhat and
02:04it's shifted away from Wales and southwest England. So things will
02:08become drier here during Sunday. A drier day for Scotland
02:12as well, although some showers in the far northwest. Now it's more central parts
02:16of England likely to be fairly dull on Sunday, but the rain shouldn't be as
02:20heavy and it should tend to peter out as well. Still a southerly breeze
02:24but it won't be as strong as the wind on Saturday, but still bringing
02:28the milder air. So if we see any brighter skies again, particularly to the
02:32east, we could reach temperatures into the mid teens and generally we're looking
02:36at double digits. So as I said at the start, much, much milder than
02:40it was last weekend. For more details on those weather
02:44warnings, make sure you stay up to date with everything from the Met Office
02:48through the weekend by following us on social media.
