12 May - National weather forecast presented by Alex Deakin
Transcript
00:00Hello, thanks for joining me for this national weather updates.
00:03Dry, bright and a little breezy kind of sums up the weather
00:07for most places today.
00:09It's not completely dry.
00:10The radar showing a speckling of showers earlier
00:12across Western Scotland.
00:14And rain is now turning a little more persistent
00:16across the Highlands and the Western Isles.
00:18And we will see it maybe later on at times drifting
00:21a little further east, perhaps into parts of Aberdeenshire,
00:24the odd shower through the central belt, and one or two
00:26across parts of Northern Ireland.
00:28But for most of England and Wales,
00:29it's dry and fine out there.
00:30There's a fair bit of cloud developing,
00:32but some places hanging on to good spells of sunshine,
00:34particularly over eastern England,
00:36parts of northern England, and where
00:38we see some lengthy spells of sunshine.
00:39That's where we'll get the top temperatures, 20, maybe
00:42squeaker, 21.
00:43That will be 70 Fahrenheit across the southeast.
00:45Generally, though, temperature is only in the mid
00:48to high teens, so nothing spectacular, certainly
00:51for the time of year.
00:52And feeling cooler with that more persistent rain
00:54across the Highlands, which will keep going overnight.
00:57The showery rain could drift a little further south,
00:59through southern Scotland, northern England, maybe
01:01one or two showers for the Midlands and Wales for a time.
01:04But it does scoot away through the early hours.
01:06So most become dry again by Friday,
01:08with the exception being the northwest of Scotland,
01:10where it stays pretty windy throughout today
01:13and tonight and tomorrow.
01:15With a lot of cloud around, temperatures
01:17will hold up quite a warm night, 9, 10 degrees
01:19in most towns and cities.
01:21On to Friday, and again, for most,
01:23it's bright and fine with good spells of sunshine.
01:26Certainly after a hazy start, most of England and Wales
01:29having quite a bit of blue sky through Friday.
01:32Mostly dry for southern Scotland, northern Ireland
01:34as well.
01:34It'll be, again, further north and west
01:36where we see outbreaks of rain across the Highlands
01:38and the northern isles, quite blustery at times here, too.
01:41A bit more of a breeze further south as well,
01:43but it will be a warmer day with a bit more sunshine.
01:46Temperatures ticking up a little bit more widely
01:48in the high teens, low 20s, 22, 23
01:52as possible across the southeast.
01:54Again, cooler with a more persistent cloud,
01:56the stiff breeze across the northwest
01:59and the showers coming in here.
02:01Those showers, though, will steadily be fading away
02:03during Friday night.
02:05So things looking largely dry as we head into the weekend.
02:09Clear skies for many, the winds easing off a little bit
02:11as well.
02:12And for most, this area of high pressure
02:13is ambling in, weather fronts clearing away.
02:16This high will bring the majority a fine day
02:20on Saturday if you like sunny skies.
02:22However, just this little feature
02:24creeping up from the south bringing
02:26a plume of warmer air, more humid air,
02:28and that does bring the threat on Saturday night
02:31and Sunday of some thunderstorms,
02:34certainly across parts of England.
02:36Details on that will need to be nailed down closer to the time.
02:40We'll have more in our weekend forecast
02:42that'll be available on YouTube by Thursday afternoon.
02:46And of course, there's always plenty more right
02:48across social media.
