1 August - Nationa weather forecast presented by Craig Snell
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Well for many of us as
00:04we start August it's going to be fairly warm and humid out there and that's all down to
00:08an area of high pressure to the south of the country but as we go through the course of
00:12the week we will see weather fronts work their way southwards across the country gradually
00:17introducing some fresher air and also some welcome rain. By the end of the week temperatures
00:23should be nearer to the seasonal average for early August but still I think on the warm
00:27side in the south. Back to this evening and for many parts of England, Wales, eastern
00:33Scotland there will be still a good deal of cloud around but that cloud is still thick
00:36enough for the odd spot of rain. Clearer skies up towards western Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:41and the clear skies become a little bit more extensive in the west as we go through the
00:45course of the night so that will give us a cooler night for most but down towards the
00:49south east it will still be another warm and humid one with temperatures probably not falling
00:54much lower than 17 degrees. So on Monday morning we start off rather grey across eastern
01:00parts of the country with again the risk of some spots of rain or maybe the odd heavier
01:04shower around but out towards the west plenty of sunshine to start the day and that will
01:09gradually transfer its way eastwards as we go towards lunch time. Heading into the afternoon
01:16period we will start to see some cloud and rain working its way into Northern Ireland
01:20but for Scotland, Wales and England we should see a fairly dry afternoon but a very warm
01:25afternoon temperatures potentially reaching 27 or 28 degrees down towards the south east.
01:30Into the evening that cloud and rain will then gradually spread its way further eastwards
01:35seeing some heavy rain across parts of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Very little rain
01:40reaching further south and that really is going to be the story as we head into Tuesday.
01:45Very little rainfall for south eastern parts of the country but elsewhere plenty of cloud
01:49and some outbreaks of rain but despite the cloud and rain it's going to still be feeling
01:54fairly humid out there but again very warm down towards the south east we could see highs
01:58reaching 27 or 28 degrees once again. For more information about the weather for the
02:04week ahead you can always follow us on our social media channels but that's it for now,
02:08goodbye.
