00:00Hello again and welcome back to your latest national weather update.
00:03The weather is set to turn colder and windier for all of us as we begin the new working week.
00:08On Monday we see a cold front clearing the south coast of England and then a cold
00:13northwesterly flow developing across the whole of the UK. Some arctic air flooding southwards
00:18bringing a big drop in temperatures compared to the weekend with below average values by day
00:23and it stays quite unsettled right the way through the week with showers at times and
00:27potentially some longer spells of rain particularly in the west. Back to Sunday evening though and
00:33southern areas are still dry some late brightness in the far south but we have this band of rain
00:38this cold front sinking its way southwards across the UK. The band of rain should reach southern
00:43parts of England by the end of the night. To the north it's quite windy out there with the
00:48potential for gales across northern Scotland and some fairly frequent blustery showers.
00:53It won't be as cold as it was on Saturday night though temperatures largely holding up in double
00:58figures for most but some colder air will allow temperatures to dip to single figures across
01:02northern Scotland later in the night. The rain will clear away from southern parts of England
01:07first thing on Monday morning and then the whole of the UK will see blustery winds with a mixture
01:13of sunshine and showers through the course of the day. The showers potentially heavy at times but
01:18moving through fairly quickly on those brisk northwesterly winds which will give a marked
01:23wind chill. Temperatures potentially not getting into double figures in some parts of northern
01:27Scotland but still around or just below average in the south. So taking into account the winds
01:33tomorrow and it will feel much colder than these values suggest potentially feeling more like two
01:38to five celsius in northern eastern parts of Scotland so a marked wind chill for many areas.
01:44Through Monday evening and scattered showers will still continue particularly towards more
01:48exposed coastal regions through Monday evening and overnight. Some clearer slots developing
01:54particularly in the south and inland. The outlook for Tuesday sees a continuation of the sunshine
02:00and shower theme. The winds will slowly ease though and that will allow a few more aware of
02:05mist and fog patches developing by night and potentially some frost and it will certainly
02:09feel much cooler compared to of late. You can always keep up to date though with all the latest
02:14by following us on our social media channels and I'll speak to you again soon.
