00:00Hi there, with the dense fog early Friday and now the wet and windy spell crossing the
00:05country, it's beginning to feel a lot like autumn and a deep low accompanying a very
00:11active jet stream at the moment. All the hallmarks of autumnal weather there, the reason that
00:18we're seeing the wind and rain cross the UK from the north-west and some very strong winds
00:23indeed for the Outer Hebrides, for the Northern Isles, 70 mph wind gusts, perhaps a bit more
00:27for Shetland. Now, the windiest weather peaks around early to mid-afternoon and the wettest
00:34weather clears Northern Ireland and Scotland by mid-afternoon, but it pushes into central
00:38parts of England, clears through Wales. It doesn't quite reach East Anglia and the south-east until
00:43a bit later on. However, with that wet and windy weather, it's certainly going to feel on the cool
00:48side, some heavy rain in places, especially over western hills, and three to six hours or so of
00:54this wet weather as it pushes south-east. Then during the evening, risk of gales around the Dover
01:00Strait, 50 to 55 mph wind gusts here for a time. However, by midnight, much of that's out of the
01:07way. It's replaced by showers, very frequent downpours actually for much of Scotland, Northern
01:12Ireland, north-west England, Wales, but elsewhere clear spells in between any showers and a breezy
01:18night to come and so, as a result, not as chilly as it was on Thursday night. Still cool in some
01:25shelter spots as we start off the weekend. Bright blue skies for many, especially in central and
01:30eastern areas, but those showers, well, they'll be continuing from the word go in the north and
01:35north-west and we'll see further showers develop just about anywhere into the afternoon. Nowhere
01:40will be immune from these showers, but they will move through quickly because it will be another
01:44breezy day, just short of gale force I think for most of the north and north-west of Scotland, but
01:49still very blustery here and frequent downpours coming through. In between the showers, like I say,
01:55we will see those glimpses of sunshine and the showers won't last long. So, where we get some
02:01shelter from the breeze, 18, 19 Celsius possible, it's going to feel a bit warmer. Now, towards the
02:08south-west, the clouds will thicken later in the afternoon and we'll see perhaps some more
02:14prolonged damp weather towards the far south-west. This is associated with a weather front which
02:21could just push some wetter weather into the south-west and the south coast for a time on
02:26Sunday. Showers continuing further north and then next week looks, again, fairly mixed with
02:33rain or showers at times.
