00:00Nigeria police force has ordered the closure of all land, air, waterways and roads connecting
00:06Edo state ahead the Saturday gubernatorial election in the state which appeared to be
00:11a very big interest for the incumbent governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki and the former
00:16governors of Edo and River states who are currently the incumbent senator representing
00:21Edo North and FCT minister, Adams Oshomole and Nyesomweke respectively.
00:27Nyesomweke has said he felt betrayed after he helped Governor Godwin Obaseki to secure
00:32power for his current second tenure in office through the People's Democratic Party, PDP
00:37when the then All Progressives Congress, APC National Chairman.
00:42Adams Oshomole disqualified him from contesting the governorship seat on the platform of his
00:47then political party, APC in 2020.
00:51Adams Oshomole had in several occasions also described Governor Obaseki as a betrayal,
00:57saying he regretted choosing him as successor in 2016.
01:02President Bola Ametilugu had in 2020 called on Edo people to vote Governor Obaseki out
01:07of office and he shouldn't be given second term to rule the people but many people in
01:12the state then piqued offence on President Bola Ametilugu's statement who was only then
01:17APC National Chairman.
01:20The 2023 presidential election that got President Bola Ametilugu into power as Nigerian President
01:26has been an issue of concern to many.
01:30Scores of people believed that the 2023 election was filled with irregularities, violence,
01:36disenfranchisement of eligible voters, manipulation of election results among other insinuations
01:43or allegations but the Nigerian Supreme Court of Justice ruled that the political parties
01:47and candidates who contested the 2023 presidential election outcome in court were not able to
01:52prove their case of widespread margins of irregularities, manipulation of election results,
01:58violence, disenfranchisement even though the apex court noted that there were isolated
02:02cases of the allegations which were not enough to rule otherwise against Bola Ametilugu who
02:07was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
02:12Governor Obaseki had refused sign the traditional routine peace accord agreement on the ground
02:17that those who ought to be the promoters of peace are already causing violence ahead the
02:22gubernatorial election by thus intimidating, harassing and arresting members of his political
02:27party, PDP, to weaken the chances of PDP winning the areas where they arrested and detained
02:34party chieftains held from, saying, the authorities at the federal government are doing so for
02:39APC to win the governorship by all means.
02:43The tension in the stance has since made the Benin monarch, Omonabani Ndouku Apolopolu
02:49Obaewe, the second, to order by susu sacrificial ceremony to allow the gods or deities in Benin
02:56Kingdom to avoid any act of calamity before, during and after the governorship election.

06:28environment.
06:29Through collaborative efforts, we can guarantee that the forthcoming elections in Edo, specifically
