00:04APC governorship candidates, Monde Opemolo, were killed in Benin City on Thursday when
00:08government suspected to be political thugs exchanged fire with security operatives at
00:12the Benin airport.
00:13The crisis has led to accusing fingers among political parties in the state and government
00:17functionaries.
00:18With the Ado State government blaming and accusing the impeached deputy governor of
00:21the state, Philip Shaihu who arrived the state on Thursday after federal high court sitting
00:24in Abuja ruled and declared his impeachment from office as illegal and politically motivated.
00:28Hence, ordered the inspector general of police to provide him security to take back his office.
00:33Chief Francis Inegbeniki, in a video recorded few minutes ago, said his accusation over
00:37the crisis in Benin City is a plot to tarnish his image as he is not even in Benin, and
00:41in the video, he showed his current location at Apuji in Ado Central Senatorial Area of
00:45the state.
00:46The children of People's Democratic Party, PDP in Ado Central Senatorial District, Chief
00:51Francis Inegbeniki refuted the allegation that he sponsored thugs who allegedly attacked
00:55the motorcade of Senator Mone Opebolo, the APC governorship candidate on Thursday in
00:59Benin City.
01:00Inegbeniki said his attention was drawn to the accusation he described as false and misleading
01:04allegations against him being circulated on social media.
01:07It is not true that I led or sponsored thugs who attacked the convoy of Senator Mone Opebolo,
01:11the APC governorship candidate in Benin City.
01:14As I speak, I am in my village.
01:16I was never on airport road when or as at the time the said incident took place.
01:20Adding, it is very wrong for anyone or for any reason to accuse me of leading thugs on
01:24that attack.
01:25I urge the government, security agencies and the general public to disregard the falsehood.
01:30The politician said he is a peaceful and law-abiding Nigerian and at his age being an elder statesman
01:34will never commit such acts.
01:36The election is around the corner, and I quite understand that my enemies would do anything
01:40desperately to blackmail me or tarnish my reputation.
01:43The statement issued by media aired to Senator Mone Opebolo, linking me to the incident is
01:47an attempt to malign my integrity and also mislead the general public, the PDP chieftain said.
01:52We have earlier reported that the Ado State government has said it will take actionable
01:56measures against the impeached deputy governor of the state.

02:34made available by the state commissioner of information, Chris Hosanehikari.
02:38Saint Philip Shaibu is known for violence and blame the wanton destruction of lives
02:41and properties in Benin City on Thursday on the politician.
02:44The statement reads in quote thus, the Ado State government has observed the level of
02:48wanton destruction perpetrated by thugs and elements working in connivance with former
02:51deputy governor of the state, Philip Shaibu I.
02:54The guise of purportedly enforcing a judgment reinstating him in office.
02:58Shaibu led thugs through airport road answers of Benin City, attacking innocent citizens
03:02and unleashing venom on private citizens who are going about their lawful businesses.
03:06The state government through this statement is warning Shaibu to desist from this turn

03:41will continue to deploy the instrumentality of the state to restore and maintain law and
03:44order in the state in the face of undue provocation.
