00:00Men of the Nigeria Police Force have located and destroyed an illegal refinery where petrol
00:05are being produced in Port Harcourt, the river's state capital.
00:10According to news statement by the force's public relations officer, Olumuyiwa Adejebi,
00:16the four suspects were arrested when team of policemen invaded the scene of crime on
00:21Thursday.
00:22According to Olumuyiwa, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has warned criminals
00:28against economic sabotage and re-echoed fight against the saboteurs in the country.
00:34The operatives of the IJP Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering, IJP-ST-FP-IB,
00:42have once again made a significant breakthrough in the continuous fight against oil theft,
00:47illegal bunkering and economic sabotage.
00:51This milestone achievement was marked after the operatives, in collaboration with the
00:56Department of Operations, River State Command, on 12 September 2024, made discovery of a
01:04storage facility in Trans-Ahmadi, Port Harcourt, River State, used in dealing and processing
01:10illegally acquired crude oil.
01:13This operation had led to the arrest of four suspects, namely, Emmanuel Uwachi, male, 58
01:21years, Adamu Mala, male, 35 years, Nura Musa, male, 22 years, Bashir Abu Bakar, male, 28
01:32years, and the recovery of 40,000 litres of petroleum products, stored in 67 white storage
01:39tanks.
01:40The team, however, destroyed the site and recovered the equipment and machines used
01:45in committing these crimes.
01:48The Inspector General of Police, IJP-KAYODE-ADEOLU-EGMETOKUN has re-emphasized the commitment of the force
01:55to tackling every form of crime, criminality and corruption, extending to those involved
02:01in this economic sabotage.
02:03The force remains unyielding and will continue to bring these perpetrators to book, Oluwiwa
02:09stated.
02:10Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police has paid an unscheduled visit to inspect the
02:15police training base in Benin City, the Edo State capital, on Thursday.
02:21During the visit, the police boss harps on professionalism and discipline.
02:26Oluwiwa, in a press statement, said, The Inspector General of Police, IJP-KAYODE-ADEOLU-EGMETOKUN,
02:34today September 12, 2024, made an unscheduled visit to the police training school and the
02:40police mobile force PMF-5 in Benin City, Edo State, as part of his ongoing efforts
02:47to ensure that police training across the country adheres to the highest standards of
02:51professionalism, discipline and service.
02:55The IJP was accompanied by the AIG Zone 5, Benin AIG Azuba-Uwazu, CP Edo State, CP Nemi-Iwau,
03:05CIS, CP Lanre Ogunlawo, and the Force Pro, ACP Muiwa Adejobi.
03:13During the visit, the IJP inspected various facilities, including the recruits' dormitories,
03:19classrooms and the kitchen, where meals for trainees are prepared.
03:24He took a special interest in the welfare of the recruits, currently totaling 492, and
03:31recommended the staff on their commitment to training the next generation of officers.
03:37The IJP stressed that discipline remains the cornerstone of a successful career in the
03:42Nigeria Police Force, and without discipline, no individual can survive the rigors of the
03:48police force.
03:49He further highlighted that the foundation laid during the training period is crucial,
03:54as it moulds the recruits into effective and efficient police officers ready to serve the
03:59nation with integrity.
04:02In his address to the recruits, the IJP charged them to embrace professionalism, respect for
04:08human rights, and dedication to duty.
04:12He reiterated the importance of remaining disciplined and focused as these traits are
04:16vital for the successful execution of their duties and for maintaining public trust in
04:21the force.
04:23The IJP further announced his plan to carry out unscheduled visits to other police training
04:28schools across the country.
04:31These visits aim to ensure that training programs align with the core values of the force which
04:37are professionalism, discipline, and dedication to service.
04:42The Inspector General of Police remains committed to reforming and improving police training
04:47and operations to meet the challenges of modern policing.
