00:00Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello reported on Tuesday the capture of a US individual
00:15involved in terrorist plans against the country.
00:20Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced the end of peace talks with the National Liberation
00:24Army following an attack that left two dead and twenty-five wounded, and in Lebanon authorities
00:30declared September 18th as a day of national mourning following the explosion of wireless
00:34communication devices that left several people dead and injured.
00:45Hello and welcome from the south, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisual Studios in Havana,
00:50Cuba.
00:51We begin with the news.
00:52In Venezuela, Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello reported on Tuesday the capture of a US individual
00:57involved in terrorist plans against the country.
01:00The announcement was made during an ordinary session of the National Assembly, where Cabello
01:05informed that the investigations on the new terrorist plans against the country have also
01:09led to the seizure of a batch of around 400 rifles of exclusive manufacturing used by
01:13the United States military.
01:15The Bolivarian official also denied the allegations spread on foreign social media that the individuals
01:21of Spanish and U.S. nationalities captured were doing tourism in Venezuela.
01:25Cabello reaffirmed the nation's intelligence agencies have the confession and other conclusive
01:31evidence that showed that the arrested belonged to paramilitary groups and foreign forces.
01:35The Minister of Interior said the capture of a U.S. national was possible thanks to
01:39the information provided by the people.
01:47For his part, the President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge RodrÃguez, informed
01:51that the Foreign Policy Commission of Parliament presented a draft agreement in which they
01:55categorically reject the resolution promoted by the fascist right-wing of Congress of Deputies
02:00of Spain.
02:07I would like to remind you that the Commission of Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly,
02:12as was well expressed by Deputy Roy Daza, has presented an agreement regarding the requests
02:17made by the National Assembly on September 11th.The main agreements for the people of
02:23Venezuela to know are as follows.
02:26First, to categorically reject the disastrous resolution promoted by the fascist right of
02:31the Congress of the Deputies of Spain, as well as to exhort them to respect the decision
02:36of the Venezuelan people, which sovereignly elected the citizen Nicolas Maduro Moro as
02:42President-elect of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
02:49The Cuban cultural institution Casa de las Américas ratified on Tuesday in a press release
02:54its support to the nascent anti-fascist international and its efforts to stop the advances of fascism
03:00and imperialism in Latin America and the Caribbean.
03:03The statement highlights the events that took place in Spain in 1937, when the nation resisted
03:09the troops of dictator Francisco Franco, and also refers to the various incursions,
03:13intrusions and coups that occurred in Latin America and the Caribbean from the mid-19th
03:18century to the present, in which the United States maintains intact its imperial vocation
03:23over the territories south of the Rio Grande.
03:31In a conference in Geneva, Venezuelan Vice Minister of Anti-Blockade William Castillo
03:36gave a statement about the elections and the unilateral coercive measures that Venezuela
03:40faces and the past presidential elections of July 28.
03:44Before the group of friends in defense of the Charter of the United Nations, the Vice
03:47Minister of Anti-Blockade explained the three states of the fascist cyber-coup orchestrated
03:53in Venezuela, in which the country was constantly attacked by campaigns of disinformation of
03:57electoral results and criminalization of Venezuela's democracy in the media and social networks.
04:03Castillo reminded how President Nicolás Maduro has been denouncing this coup of fascist
04:07nature from the beginning.
04:14In other news, Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced the end of peace talks with
04:18the National Liberation Army, following an attack that left two young people dead and
04:2327 wounded.
04:29The consequences of the actions and the flow of history today bring us a dramatic event,
04:37repeated in recent years, an explosive flattened ball that injures 27 young people and kills
04:45two.
04:46According to the information I have, it was placed by the National Liberation Army, with
04:52whom we were talking about peace.
04:56And obviously, as happened that time, in another place nearby, in the police school
05:02when many police officers and signs who were standing there were killed.
05:09It is practically an action that closes a peace process with blood.
05:15And it is like an eternal becoming, to silence a part of the people and to continue in wars
05:24and killing each other again and again, as if that was our story.

05:54Welcome back.
06:07Lebanese authorities report that 12 people were killed and near 2,800 injured in a terrorist
06:12attack perpetrated by Israel, which caused a simultaneous explosion of thousands of wireless
06:16pagers.
06:17During a press conference, Lebanon's Minister of Health, Firas al-Abyad, said that several
06:23of the wounded are in critical condition, sustained facial injuries.
06:27He also informed that the governments of Iran and Iraq have sent medical aid to the country.
06:32Among the fatal victims of the attack was a minor who died after the explosion of one
06:36of these communication devices inside a house.
06:38In this context, authorities in Lebanon ordered the closure of three telecommunication companies
06:43and declared this Wednesday, September 18th, a day of national mourning.
06:52Iran sent medical teams to Lebanon to assist the victims of the terrorist attack perpetrated
06:55by Israel.
06:57After the attack, the head of the Red Crescent Society of Iran, Pir Hossein Qolivan, announced
07:01readiness to send emergency medical teams to Lebanon and provide relief, treatment and
07:05transport services to the seriously injured.
07:08In that regard, with the actions and in coordination with the Lebanese Ministry of Health, on Wednesday,
07:13Iran proceeded to send relief teams and Red Crescent volunteers to Lebanon, which included
07:1612 general practitioners and specialists, and 12 nurses and paramedics.
07:25Lebanese health ministers received at Beirut airport an aid shipment sent by Iraq in the
07:29wake of the deadly Israeli cyber attack.
07:32The official supervised the delivery of the first batch of aid provided by Iraq, containing
07:3615 tons of medical supplies, as well as 20 doctors and health workers, who will be in
07:41charge of supporting the Lebanese health services.
07:44Al-Abyad also stated that other aircraft with up to 70 tons of medical supplies and medicines
07:49are expected to arrive.
07:57Syrian Health Minister Hassan Mouhamad al-Ghabash expressed solidarity with the Lebanese people
08:02and readiness to provide treatment and assistance to those wounded by the electronic attack
08:07committed by Israel on Tuesday.
08:10In a telephone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart, Firas al-Abyad, the Syrian incumbent
08:14said that his country is fully ready to provide any kind of assistance to the Lebanese citizens
08:19injured by Tel Aviv's terrorist cyber-aggression.
08:21He also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and his wishes for a speedy
08:25recovery for the injured.
08:33In a recent statement, the resistance movement Hezbollah blamed Israel for the widespread
08:37attack that caused a simultaneous explosion of thousands of communication devices in Lebanon.
08:42Precisely, the group said, after examining all the facts, current data and available
08:46information about the sinful attack that took place on Tuesday afternoon, we hold the Israeli
08:52enemy fully responsible for this criminal aggression that targeted civilians too.
08:56Hezbollah said it will continue to support the Palestinian resistance and added the treacherous
09:01and criminal enemy will certainly be punished for this aggressive act.
09:05In a previous statement, the movement had called on the people not to pay attention
09:08to rumors, false and misleading information that some parties spread in order to wage
09:13psychological warfare in favor of the Zionist enemy.
09:17Hezbollah stressed that the resistance at all levels and its various units are in full
09:20readiness to defend Lebanon and its brave people.
09:29Meanwhile, the Ansarullah movement Yemen confirmed its support to the Lebanese resistance Hezbollah
09:35in response to the Israeli threats to intensify its attacks on Lebanon.
09:38From the media community of the Yemeni popular movement Ansarullah, they indicated that they
09:43will give their support to the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah in the same way as they
09:47have been doing with the Palestinian people in their struggle.
09:50They also said that their forces will be deployed for continuous operations until its siege
09:56and genocide in the Gaza Strip.
09:58The Ansarullah movement's expressions of support for the Lebanese resistance come
10:03in a context marked by persistent threats by the Tel Aviv regime to intensify its offensives
10:08and transform the situation into a full-scale conflict against Lebanon.
10:24Meanwhile the Venezuelan government rejected Tuesday the cyberattack carried out by the
10:28Israeli regime against the Lebanese population in the south of the country, which left at
10:32least 12 civilians dead and injured around 2,800 people.
10:35The statement was issued through an official's communique in which the Bolivarian government
10:40said that this type of practice, which generates violence, fatalities and destruction, also
10:45causes panic and anxiety among the defenseless civilian population.
10:48The document goes on to stress that this attack, articulated through a sophisticated method
10:53of terror and intimidation to the population, adds to the despicable techniques used by
10:57hostile governments in the dangerous and increasing escalation of political and military
11:01tension in the Middle East.
11:03In another part of the text, Caracas warned that the silence of the international community
11:08in the face of the perverse and systematic violations of the principles contemplated
11:12in international humanitarian law only feeds the pretensions of those who wish to unleash
11:17a dangerous escalation of violence of unimaginable consequences in the region.
11:22The Bolivarian government finally expressed its most sincere feelings of closeness to
11:25the Lebanese people and government for such an unfortunate event, while conveying a message
11:31of encouragement and solidarity to the families of the victims and injured.
11:56The United Nations General Assembly held an emergency special session on Tuesday, September
12:0117, to vote on a draft resolution submitted by Palestine demanding an end to the Israeli
12:06occupation.
12:07The text is based on the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on Israel's
12:10decades of occupation practices against the Palestinians.
12:14The draft resolution calls for an end to the Israeli occupation within a period of 12 months.
12:18Moreover, the Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, stated that
12:24the solution is an independent and sovereign state of Palestine, with the borders of 1967
12:29and with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side in peace with Israel.

13:31The United Nations warns that more than 6 million children have been affected by floods
13:36and landslides triggered by Typhoon Jack in Southeast Asia.
13:39The United Nations Children's Fund pointed out that the most vulnerable children and
13:43their families are facing devastating consequences, mainly in Myanmar and Vietnam.
13:48In this sense, they call to prioritize access to clean water, food and education for children
13:52after the onslaught of the weather event.
13:55Floods and landslides caused by Typhoon Jackie left more than 290 dead in Vietnam and at
14:00least 226 in Myanmar.
14:02To a lesser extent, Thailand, Laos, the Philippines and China also recorded casualties and hundreds
14:06of people affected.
14:13And the Brazilian government signed on Tuesday a cooperation agreement for the reconstruction
14:16of Rio Grande do Sul after the state was heavily impacted by floods in April and May 2024.
14:21The declaration was made by State Governor Eduardo Leite after his meeting with President
14:26Lula da Silva.
14:27The agreement includes a commitment to create a fund of an estimated equivalent to US$1.2
14:31billion that will be used for the construction of dams and flood protection systems, especially
14:36in the metropolitan region of Puerto Alegre.
14:39The signing of the agreement includes the establishment of a council with members from
14:43the federal and state governments to oversee the public works needed to rebuild cities
14:47and infrastructure damaged by unprecedented flooding in early May.
14:56In other news, in Peru, the Legislative Congress did not authorize the trip of President Dinamo
15:01Luarte to participate in the General Assembly of the United Nations.
15:04The Parliament reported that with 55 votes against, 50 in favor and 5 abstentions, the
15:09Plenary of the Congress did not approve the draft Legislative Resolution 80834 requesting
15:15the departure of the President of the Republic, Dinamo Luarte, from the national territory.
15:20In principle, the Presidency had requested the permission of Parliament to travel to
15:24the United States from September 21st to the 26th.
15:27Up to now, the reasons of the Legislative to deny the National Leader the permission
15:30to travel are unknown.
15:32The Ecuadorian President orders curfew in territories under state of exception due to
15:43general blackouts.
15:44The Governor of Ecuador announced a curfew in the provinces that are in this state of
15:49exception and that will be affected by the national blackout from September 18th, 2200
15:55hours local time, until September 19th, 800 hours.
16:00During this time, a national power blackout will be carried out, allowing maintenance
16:04works to the power transmission lines.
16:06The Government of Daniel Novoa indicated that this schedule has been chosen to generate
16:10the least possible impact on the working day activities.
16:13In order to guarantee security and order, the National Police and the Armed Forces will
16:17extend its actions, focusing on the territories where there will be no movement.
16:22In Argentina, two retirees request to declare unconstitutional Millet's Veto to the Law
16:33of Pension Mobility.
16:35Two retirees file a lawsuit requesting the declaration of the unconstitutionality of
16:40Javier Millet's Veto that prevented, by means of a decree, the enactment of the Law on Pension
16:45Mobility.
16:46The retirees are represented by the constitutional lawyer Andres Gil Dominguez and the defender
16:50of the earthly Eugenio Semino.
16:52They claim that the grounds for Javier Millet's Veto are unreasonable, that it is based on
16:57false data and that it aggravates the situation of a vulnerable and historically disadvantaged
17:01group, specially protected by the Argentine Constitution and by international instruments
17:06on human rights.
17:21And the exhibition, The World According to Mafalda, is being held in Venezuela in honor
17:27of the 60th anniversary of the character created by the Argentine writer, Joaquin Lavado, known
17:32as Quino, who narrated the contradictions of our societies, but also the hope for a
17:36humane and peaceful world, all through a six-year-old girl who does not like soup.
17:41Our colleague Leonardo Rieta has the details.
17:44This exhibition, which has toured several Latin American and European countries, was
17:51brought by the Cubalivarian government of Venezuela and will be open to the public until
17:56October 16.
17:58This exhibition was born in 2007 at the Children's Museum in Barrilete, Córdoba, Argentina,
18:05and has been touring Latin America and parts of Europe for about 17 years.
18:10The Magnificent Mafalda is a six-year-old girl who invites us to reflect, to question
18:15ourselves, to inquire and ask questions that sometimes are uncomfortable for adults, and
18:20that invites us to recreate ourselves in all its stages.
18:26It has been having for 60 years an audience not only in Venezuela but also in the whole
18:30world.
18:31This allows us to reflect on the fact that everyone leaves happy.
18:34In some way we go back to a childhood memory to the adults to the elderly, the old people
18:39leave happy.
18:40To a journalist it is very interesting because there is a lot of reading.
18:48Mafalda, at the age of six, proclaimed in her chapters the need to move forward to a
18:53new world, without wars, where humanity is fundamental to build a new society without
18:58selfishness.
18:59Mafalda siempre fue un personaje, al igual que Condorito en su momento, que nos hizo pensar
19:05mucho.
19:06Mafalda was always a character, just like Condorito in his time, that made us think
19:11a lot, he made us think beyond the toys but about the reason of life, to face the world
19:16that was not the one we wanted.
19:20This is a very suitable exhibition for parents with their children, especially if they are
19:25young, and can explain perfectly many of the situations raised by Mafalda.
19:34The Venezuelan public attending the exhibition remembers the rebel Mafalda, even though 60
19:39years have passed since its first broadcast, as it is still more valid than ever, in a
19:44world ever more convolved by the West.
19:48I love to see an exhibition of Mafalda, besides I think it is very well done, it is very beautiful,
19:57and well, we can confirm that it is still valid as if it had just come out.
20:06The Mafalda that we have is really a very significant character in our lives, and when
20:12we approach an event like this, we have not only to be grateful that they have been willing
20:18to make available to each one of us here in the city of Caracas this sample of a character
20:24that is an icon and reference of a generation.
20:32Mafalda, which was issued from September 29, 1964, until June 25, 1973, shows a comic
20:40strip with messages of peace and a new humanity from the hand of its creator Quino, a cartoonist
20:46from Argentina, today in Argentina, submerged in a deep crisis due to the application of
20:52the ultra-neoliberal model of Mille's government.
20:55The question that Mafalda lovers ask themselves is the following.
20:59What would this character say about what is happening in today's Argentina?
21:11And on September 18, 1970, U.S. guitarist, singer, and composer Jimi Hendrix died, known
21:16as one of the most influential musicians in the history of rock and roll, although his
21:20professional career lasted only four years.
21:23Hendrix fused United States traditions of blues, jazz, rock, and soul with techniques
21:28of British avant-garde rock to redefine the electric guitar in his own image, and was
21:33the composer of a classic repertoire of songs ranging from ferocious rockers to delicate
21:38complex ballads.
21:39Jimi Hendrix died at the age of 27 of asphyxia while sleeping.
