00:00The government of Venezuela reported that it sees a new legal shipment of arms from
00:16the United States.
00:20Ecuadorian President Daniel Novoa presents a project of partial reform in the National
00:25Assembly to allow the establishment of foreign military bases in the country.
00:33In the last 24 hours alone, Israel has committed three massacres in the Gaza Strip, killing
00:3726 people and injuring 84.
00:45Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Lesus Studios
00:49in Havana, Cuba.
00:50We begin with the news.
00:52During the podcast Con Maduro Más, the government of Venezuela reported that it sees a new legal
00:57shipment of arms from the United States.
00:59During a dialogue between the Minister of Interior, Delosado Cabello, and the Venezuelan
01:02head of state, Nicolas Maduro, he informed that on Monday a new seizure of U.S. armament
01:08was made in the country, which was introduced by the CIA prior to the elections held on
01:12July 28.
01:13In this regard, President Maduro blamed the CIA for including free tips from Venezuelan
01:17justice in destabilizing acts against the country.
01:22Today, I was informing the President, all these weapons come from the United States,
01:33all of them.
01:34Today, thanks to the intelligence work at this moment before the program, right President,
01:40before the program, in a place in Venezuela, we made a new seizure of weapons.
01:45It is in full swing.
01:47It is in full development.
01:49At this time that you see me, the intelligence and protection security forces are acting
01:54so that peace and tranquility continue to reign in Venezuela.
01:59Because Madeline asks and I answer.
02:02What would have happened?
02:04We would have fought.
02:06We would have triumphed.
02:08And perhaps they would not have been arrested.
02:11Maybe they would have been killed by the patriotic fire of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces
02:17the Bolivarian National Police, the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service, the Military
02:23Counterintelligence General Directorate.
02:26Because Venezuela has military, police and security forces to defend it.
02:30It has people to defend it.
02:32That is what they cannot understand.
02:35The Venezuelan head of state also explained that the seized armament is the official weapon
02:39of the Navy SEALs, for which he blamed the CIA for introducing it into the country to
02:43perpetrate terrorist actions.
02:46This rifle that is here is an assault rifle, high level.
02:59This tip here is to put an air suppressor, which is a silencer.
03:05It has a telescopic sight, medium range.
03:09It is an assault rifle built for the United States military forces.
03:16For the exclusive use of the United States military forces.
03:22It is forbidden to be traded and sold, because it is for the exclusive use of the United
03:27States military forces.
03:30Like this one, we have several rifles, exporter, and here is the caliber 7.62x39, and here
03:40is the serial number.
03:41I reserved the serial number.
03:44The United States government knows that we have this rifle and other armament, which
03:50was introduced by the CIA to Venezuela for terrorist attacks, requested by fascism in
03:56Venezuela.
03:57You can see here restricted government of the United States.
04:07And it is important, Mr. President, that it be known that this is the official weapon
04:13of the Navy SEALs.
04:15It is the official weapon of the Navy SEALs, not of the commandos.
04:20And it is precisely Mr. Castaneda, an active U.S. military officer, who is in charge of
04:27this operation.
04:30In this sense, the Venezuelan president pointed out that the U.S. government is clearly violating
04:34international law, and specifically the founding charter of the United Nations for discriminal
04:39actions against Venezuela.
04:47Because all these sectors that call for violence, for civil war, for invasion, for assassination
04:54in Venezuela, are protected in territory of the United States, which clearly violates
05:01international law, and especially violate the founding charter of the United Nations.
05:08At this moment, the government of the United States is openly violating the charter of
05:14the United Nations for its actions of instigating violence in Venezuela.
05:19In Colombia, through an agreement between the Reparation Fund of the Victims Unit and
05:24the National Land Agency, victims of parliamentarism will receive 18,000 hectares to repair the
05:29damage they have suffered.
05:31According to Lidia Solano, director of the Victims Unit, and Felipe Hartmann, director
05:36of the National Land Agency, the FRV will receive an amount of more than $175 billion,
05:41which will make possible distribution of the victims' resources in the purchase of the
05:45land destined to repair the community.
05:48For his part, Felipe Hartmann pointed out that this is the first time that the agency
05:51makes a massive purchase from the FRV, and that this is thanks to the political will
05:56of both administrations to break down institutional barriers that prevent the implementation of
06:02the agreement.
06:10And more than a hundred indigenous leaders gather in the town of Curare, in the Chilean
06:13mountain range, to discuss in what serves as the first International Congress of Indigenous
06:18Conservation Territories.
06:21Indigenous leaders from territories such as the Arawak of Sierra Nevada in Colombia, the
06:25Shuar of the Ecuadorian Amazon, the Huachipete of Peru, the Aymara of the Andean Highlands,
06:31as well as representatives from different territories of the Mapuche people, met to
06:34discuss common solutions to shared problems.
06:37Congress also focused on community life, a fundamental characteristic of indigenous peoples
06:41undermined by extractivist capitalism.
06:50And in Argentina, thousands of students marched on Monday during the anniversary of 48 of
06:55La Noche de los Lapices, in English, the Night of the Pencils.
06:59The mobilization this Monday was attended by young people, human rights organizations
07:02and political entities honoring the victims of the Night of the Pencils, a group of students
07:07kidnapped on September 16, 1976, by police and army officers in Buenos Aires.
07:12The demonstration took place after the head of state introduced a budget bill to cut the
07:162025 investment in science, technology and education.
07:20Protesters demanded the president not to veto the education funding bill.
07:24Likewise, they claimed for the continuity of the memory policies.

08:09The president of Ecuador, Daniel Loboa, will present a project of partial reform to the
08:13constitution in the National Assembly for the lifting of the ban on foreign military
08:17bases in the country, a fact that has been questioned by citizens.
08:20The Ecuadorian president announced that the project has the presumed objective of modifying
08:24Article 5 of the constitution, which prohibits the establishment of foreign military bases
08:29in the country, in order to allow the military settlement of the United States.
08:33For this part, the Ecuadorian people have rejected this project, questioning the concept
08:36of sovereignty of President Loboa by recognizing that he is incapable of controlling the situation
08:41of the countries going through, thus granting authority to the United States to exercise
08:46security rights in Ecuadorian territory.
08:50In his account on X, the president published a statement where he said, under the pretext
08:58of fighting crime, the presidential proposal will eliminate the ban on the establishment
09:02of foreign military bases or foreign facilities for military purposes, as well as eliminate
09:07the ban on sending national military bases to foreign armed forces or security forces.
09:11The text states that time has shown that all decisions have only weakened the country in
09:16the face of threats that today know no borders.
09:19From the government, we are very clear about the country we want.
09:22It is time for the National Assembly to decide which side of history it will be on.
09:35In other news, the explosion of a tanker truck on Saturday in Haiti reaches a total of 28
09:40deaths.
09:41The event occurred about 100 km south of the capital, when a tanker hit another truck on
09:45the road.
09:46Despite warnings from the driver not to get too close, locals started to take fuel, and
09:51immediately after the explosion took place, the Director General of Civil Protection,
09:54Emmanuel Pierre, has indicated that there are also 42 wounded, according to the latest
09:59reports of the tragedy.
10:01Moreover, the Minister of Public Health, Georges Fils, expressed during a press conference on
10:05Monday his condolences to the families of the victims.
10:08Fils said that between Saturday and Sunday, 30 victims were evacuated from Nips to Port-au-Prince,
10:13and all departments of the Ministry of Health were mobilized to provide support.
10:17In the Brazilian Midwest, the worst drought in decades is exacerbating a forest fire crisis.
10:44Correspondent Brian Meir has more.
10:46During the last six weeks, man-made forest fires caused by agribusiness actors clearing
10:52land for cattle pasture have raged across Brazil.
10:55To make things worse, in many of the hardest-hit areas, it hasn't rained for months, facilitating
11:01the spread of the fires.
11:03In the national capital of Brasilia, it hasn't rained for 150 days, representing its worst
11:09drought in 44 years.
11:11There are regular droughts during this time of the year in Midwestern Brazil, but this
11:16year it is much worse than normal, not just here, but across the whole country, and this
11:21is connected to deepening climate change and changes in land use, which is mainly connected
11:27to an expansion of agribusiness.
11:29According to data from Mapa Biomas, agribusiness is responsibly for 97% of the destruction
11:38of native vegetation in Brazil during the last five years.
11:46Brazil is one of the world's largest producers of two interrelated commodities that require
11:51huge amounts of water, beef and soy, which is mainly used to feed cattle.
11:57Production of both commodities is causing massive deforestation in the Amazon rainforest
12:03and in the Midwest, a region of tropical savanna with unique flora and fauna which is rapidly
12:09disappearing due to consumers in the US, China and Europe's taste for Brazilian beef.
12:17This historic drought is the culmination of many years of the destruction of over half
12:22of the vegetation in this fantastic biome of the Cerrado.
12:26So, now we see that the start of the rainy season takes place over 30 days later than
12:31it used to.
12:33The average temperature has risen by over 1.5 degrees Celsius in the region.
12:39And annual rainfall has dropped by 8%.
12:43We see that these are primarily the effects of the conversion of native vegetation by
12:47agribusiness.
12:51On Sunday, September 15, a huge forest fire started in Brasilia National Park, in the
12:57middle of the federal district.
12:59Brian Meir, tell us, sir, Brasilia.
13:04The rainy season in Guatemala has left 28 people dead and just over 26,000 people evacuated
13:09since May.
13:10The National Coordination for Disaster Reduction detailed that, in addition to the 28 fatalities
13:15of the rain, 13 people were injured, no missing so far.
13:19The greatest number of deaths from rainfall is in the province of Xochitlpeques, with
13:24four in total, followed by the department of San Marcos.
13:28Both are located in the southwest of the Central American country.
13:31According to the same source, 26,240 people have been evacuated due to rain damage since
13:38May, and 9,327 are currently at risk.
13:48And storm Boris, which hit Central and Eastern Europe in recent days, left at least 15 people
13:52dead, thousands of people evacuated, entire regions flooded, power and drinking water
13:57supplies cut, and transportation networks disrupted.
13:59According to data presented on Monday since Friday, there has been incessant rainfall
14:05that caused rivers to swell to usual levels for this time of the year, exceeding the water
14:10reserve capacity in several regions.
14:12In addition, the regional and national governments of the affected countries declared states
14:15of natural disaster in order to be able to release financial aid to those affected and
14:20spend what is necessary to restore electricity, drinking water, and essential transportation.

14:57Welcome back.
15:27In Palestine, authorities denounced that in the last 24 hours alone, Israel has committed
15:30three massacres in the Gaza Strip, killing 26 people and injuring 84.
15:35At least four people, including a child, were killed by shelling by the occupation army
15:38on Tuesday morning on homes in the Beret refugee camp, while some 30 civilians were left buried
15:43under the rubble.
15:44According to civil defense rescue teams, it was two full attacks that struck firstly on
15:49a block of houses and secondly on emergency teams searching through the rubble.
15:53The death toll of the genocide launched by Israel on October 7 has increased to more
15:57than 41,000 victims, most of them children and women, while more than 95,000 Palestinians
16:03have been wounded.
16:08Palestinian aid groups say Israel is preventing 83% of food aid from reaching Gaza.
16:14A group of 15 aid organizations declared in a joint statement that the people of Gaza
16:19are only eating an average of one meal a day because the Israeli military is blocking
16:2383% of the food needed to reach the besieged enclave.
16:28They added that the amount of aid blocked by Israel has increased substantially since
16:322023, when only 34% of food aid was blocked.
16:36Director of the Palestinian NGO Amjad Al-Shawa said in the statement that 100% of Gaza's
16:41population is now dependent on aid and the shortages mean that people are starving.
16:49UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Israel's collective punishment of the Palestinian
16:56people in Gaza.
16:58It is unimaginable.
17:00The level of suffering in Gaza, the level of death and destruction have no parallel
17:05in everything I've witnessed since I am Secretary General.
17:09Obviously, we all condemn the terror attacks made by Hamas, as well as the taking of hostages,
17:21that is an absolute violation of international humanitarian law.
17:25But the truth is that nothing justifies the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.
17:31And that is what we are witnessing in a dramatic way in Gaza.
17:35Intern UN Special Rapporteur on the Right Situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory
17:40Francesca Albanese said that Israel has become a pariah and suggested that the country's
17:44membership in the UN should be questioned.
17:46It is unavoidable for Israel to become a pariah in the face of its continuous, relentless,
17:54vilifying assault on the United Nations on top of millions of Palestinians.
18:02But this year, the UN Secretary General, the General Assembly, the Human Rights Council
18:07have been constantly notified that it has not happened before, but never with this intensity.
18:13Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesman Lieutenant General Yahya Sari reported on Monday that the country's
18:18air defence shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone with a surface-to-air missile while conducting
18:23spying operations over Damar province.
18:26This is the 10th drone of this type shot down by Yemen in support of Palestinians in Gaza
18:30who have been suffering a brutal operation from the Zionist regime since October.
18:34The note also highlights that it is the third MQ-9 drone that has been intercepted and destroyed
18:40by in Yemeni airspace this week.
18:42The MQ-9 Reaper drone is an advanced US Army drone valued at more than 30 million US dollars.
18:53Meanwhile in the United States, former President Donald Trump was unharmed after an apparent
18:57assassination attempt on Sunday in West Palm Beach, Florida, while playing on a golf course
19:01near his private club.
19:03Ryan Wesley Ralph, a 58-year-old man, was arrested after being discovered with a rifle
19:07near the courts.
19:08Ralph had been camping in the area for more than 12 hours before he was identified by
19:13the Secret Service.
19:14Florida is noted that despite being armed and concealed in nearby vegetation, Ralph
19:19did not have a direct line of sight to Trump at the time of the incident.
19:23Secret Service agents detected the weapon and fire at the suspect, who was captured
19:27shortly thereafter in a neighboring county.
19:36And the Meta Corporation announced on Monday the blocking on these platforms of Russia
19:41Today and other related entities.
19:44According to the statement, Russia Today and other related entities are now banned on apps
19:48such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads, alleging foreign interference activity.
19:54Previously, Washington had accused Russia Today of supposed connections to Russian intelligence
19:58services.
19:59Special representatives of the U.S. State Department, James Rubin, indicated that the
20:03new sanctions against Russia Today will be the toughest possible.
20:06For her part, the spokeswoman of the Russian foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, denounced
20:11that Russian journalists have been the object of real terrorist information attacks by the
20:15United States.
20:18Russian authorities pointed out that the coercive measures imposed by the U.S. led
20:27to an increase in the volume of business with the countries of the BRICS group.
20:31This was reported by the director of the Trade Negotiations Department of the Ministry of
20:34Economic Development of Russia, Ekaterina Mayerova.
20:38In an interview with Sputnik News Agency, the official explained that sanctions against
20:42Russia as a result of the military operation in Ukraine have led to restrictions in trade
20:46with the Western bloc countries.
20:48On the other hand, the data showed the increase of trade relations with the BRICS country.
20:52This alliance accounts for almost half the world's population, 40% of global oil production,
20:57and about 25% of exports of goods.
21:18Thanks for watching.
