Jerod Mayo joins for "Mayo Mondays"! What did he think of Brissett and thoughts on tuning out the noise?
Transcript
00:00Congratulations.
00:01No, thank you.
00:02The Mayo era begins with a win.
00:04Yeah, you know, I was pretty pumped for the guys.
00:07It's really not about me.
00:10I told them at the end of the game, you know,
00:12I'm only as good as those guys are.
00:13And they went out there and executed.
00:15And all the praise and all that stuff goes to those guys.
00:20And for me, it's about changing the page
00:22and getting ready for Seattle.
00:23I feel like I owe you a bit of an apology.
00:25You don't owe me.
00:27If you guys say, I don't listen to any, like seriously,
00:30I do not.
00:31I'm in a bubble.
00:32I'm in a bubble.
00:32I don't listen to anything good or bad as far as the media.
00:37I mean, I was mocking you on the virtual sprints.
00:40I mean, it seems like the coaching style,
00:42the guys love it.
00:43No, for me, it's OK.
00:45I'm going to do it my way.
00:46I'm going to do it my way.
00:48And I feel like at some point in time,
00:50like I have to trust that I have the right staff
00:52around the players.
00:53And those guys are going to go out and perform.
00:55And they did.
00:55So I'm excited for them, once again.
00:57Like, I'm good.
00:59This is what I tell people all the time.
01:01I try to be very truthful because I
01:03was a top 10 pick in 2008.
01:05So I'm OK.
01:06I'm OK.
01:06You're a top 10 pick.
01:08Are you planning on saying something before every game
01:11to Jacoby Brissett that makes him cry?
01:13I always, I always, I feel like someone
01:16who has the ball in his hands every play,
01:19I need to make sure we're on the same page.
01:21And he went out there and displayed a lot of things.
01:24He's a tough guy.
01:26He's a tough guy that it really doesn't matter.
01:28And I talk about pulling the nose up on the plane.
01:31And he did that a few times and actually made
01:33some plays with his legs, which is surprising.
01:36He's probably the slowest black quarterback in the league.
01:39No.
01:39No.
01:40No.
01:40No.
01:41No.
01:41No.
01:42No.
01:42No.
01:43No.
01:43No.
01:44No.
01:44No.
01:45No.
01:45No.
01:46No.
01:46No.
01:47No.
01:47No.
01:48No.
01:48No.
01:49No.
01:49No.
01:50No.
01:50No.
01:51No.
01:51No.
01:52No.
01:52No.
01:53No.
01:53No.
01:54Yeah.
01:55When did you realize, or when did you maybe,
01:58because it's all about buying in to what
02:01the coach is trying to put out there, buying into the culture.
02:05When did you realize that this team was
02:09buying into what you were saying?
02:11It's hard to really pinpoint when that moment happened.
02:14You know, we give these guys targets every week.
02:16And you know, as a coaching staff,
02:18we try to say, look, if we get these three things done,
02:21we'll be OK.
02:22What I will say, it's one game.
02:24And so I'm not saying to pump the brakes or, well,
02:27I am saying to pump the brakes.
02:29It's one game.
02:30And until we continue to win and continue to go out there
02:33and play football the way that we know how to play football,
02:38we'll see what happens.
02:39I mean, you talked a lot in training camp
02:41about specifically being able to run the ball
02:44and control the line of scrimmage.
02:46I said it.
02:46I said it before this game.
02:49And I tell the players, I don't care
02:53if you feel like I'm giving out game plan secrets or anything
02:57like that.
02:58I really don't.
02:59I'm telling you, we're going to run the ball.
03:01You've got to stop us.
03:02At some point in time, you've got to stop us.
03:05And I tell the players, too, if you want to go out there
03:07and talk noise and say how great you are, I'm good with that.
03:11But you better be ready to go out there and prove
03:13it each and every weekend.
03:14I think the guy's buying it.
03:16And we had Boomer Siason was just on with us.
03:19Love Boomer.
03:20And Boomer was talking about Ramondre Stevenson
03:24running the ball 25 times.
03:26Can he do that all season long if that's
03:29what this team is going to be?
03:31One thing I'll say about Ramondre,
03:32and I've told him this, so when you guys talk to him,
03:35you should ask him.
03:35But I think he's one of the best backs in the league.
03:38I just don't think he gets the appreciation.
03:41I don't think he gets the hype as some of these other backs.
03:43He's one of these guys that always
03:44falls forward for four or five yards.
03:47And at the end of the game there,
03:50he was a little bit tired.
03:51And he wanted to stay in the game.
03:53And I was just like, yo, this is the start of something
03:57special going forward.
03:59Even though you're in your own bubble though,
04:00there was a narrative about this team heading into the season,
04:03whether it was local media, national media, fans.
04:06So how do you make sure that your team doesn't
04:09read into that and get in over their head?
04:12Because I think that this was a statement win
04:14for a lot of the guys to kind of shut people up.
04:17And correct me if I'm wrong, but whether it
04:19was the offensive line, the offense,
04:21or what is the defense going to look like without Matt Jude on,
04:25it seemed like this was starting things off on the right foot
04:28to tell people to relax a bit.
04:31That's a great question.
04:32I would say they definitely hear everything that you guys say.
04:35And so as the head coach, I always
04:37try to tell them don't pay attention to it.
04:40But whether it's social media, or the radio, or newspaper,
04:45they definitely hear it.
04:48But we all have a chip on our shoulder.
04:49We all have it.
04:50I mean, you don't have to know what it is,
04:51but we all have a chip on our shoulder
04:53from whether it's childhood or adulthood.
04:56And those guys just went out and played hard.
04:59They went out.
05:00And so now the challenge or the opportunity for me
05:04is to instill a sense of urgency with these guys
05:08and if we got to learn how to win, we got to learn how to win.
05:14And we won one game.
05:15And that's what it is.
05:17It's one game.
05:19And I think that's a huge part of it.
05:20Gerard, you said at the beginning of this
05:22how proud you were, you were happy about the players.
05:25But it was totally apparent to everybody watching
05:29how happy they were for you.
05:32It's not every day you see a Gatorade bat.
05:34It was early.
05:35I was still a couple of minutes left.
05:39I had a lot of faith and reminder.
05:41Left me sticky.
05:43No, but I mean, that had to be satisfying
05:47and a real memorable moment for you as a head coach.
05:49No, absolutely.
05:51Going to the game, I felt pretty good.
05:53I felt normal.
05:54I guess that's the way to say it.
05:56But at the end of the game, that's
05:59when it really hit me at the end of the game.
06:01It didn't hit me at the beginning of the game, middle.
06:03It didn't hit me five minutes in the fourth quarter.
06:07It hit me when those guys continued to run the ball
06:09and run out the clock.
06:10And that's when I was like, all right,
06:12we're going to build something.
06:13We've got to build off of this.
06:15Offensive line only allowed one sack.
06:18I've told you guys the entire time, and I've told the media,
06:21we've overblown the deficiencies that we
06:26have at offensive line.
06:27Every single preseason game, turn on the tape.
06:30This is what I always say, turn on the tape.
06:32Every single preseason game, I would
06:34say we dominated the line of scrimmage
06:35defensively and defensively.
06:37Now, there were some things.
06:38There was the one practice versus Philly,
06:40where everyone kind of blew that out of proportion.
06:42But I have nothing but total faith in Scott Peters, AVP,
06:45Kugler, Mike, all those guys to get those guys ready to go.
06:50And we don't hear it.
06:52We don't hear it.
06:53Now, is there any chance with the offensive line playing
06:55as well as they played, that we'll
06:57start to see maybe some Drake May packages?
07:00Because when you think about running the foot.
07:02He's the number one Drake May advocate over here.
07:05When you think about running the foot.
07:07Come on, Wiggy.
07:08We won the game.
07:09Right, but when you think about running the football.
07:11Hey, it's about Jacoby.
07:12That IPO looks good.
07:13Wiggy, it's about Jacoby.
07:15No, no, no.
07:16I'm just asking the question.
07:17It's about Jacoby.
07:18And I would also say, look, Jacoby,
07:22how many plays did he make yesterday with his legs?
07:24And from a defensive perspective,
07:28you don't really expect that.
07:29And when he does, he does it.
07:31He did a good job.
07:32Jacoby did a good job controlling the game,
07:35not making mistakes.
07:36We won the turnover battle.
07:38We won the hit and yardage battle.
07:39And that's what I'm talking about.
07:42Jacoby was behind Romandre second when it comes to that.
07:46Does that worry you, that it's those two,
07:48that it's your quarterback and one guy that's
07:50getting all those yards for the team?
07:52Not at all.
07:53For me, Romandre is one of those guys
07:55that you can give him the ball 20, 25 times a game,
08:00and he'll get you four and a half, five yards of carry.
08:03And the guys behind him, Gibby and Haseke, those guys,
08:09they also have a skill set that's
08:11pretty good for our offense.
08:13What about the operations, Gerard?
08:14So even teams that are talented, that have coaches that
08:17have been there for a while, when they change both
08:19coordinators, it's a learning curve.
08:21Well, yesterday, your first game as a head coach
08:24in the regular season.
08:25Demarcus Covington's first game as a defensive coordinator.
08:28Alex Van Pelt, first time working with you guys
08:30as the offensive play caller.
08:31How'd you think the operation went?
08:32I thought it went well.
08:33And we ironed out all the problems during the preseason.
08:37After every single game, I would ask for feedback,
08:39like how can we do this better?
08:41Wiggy has some ideas.
08:43No, no, no, I'm sure.
08:44Look, like I said, it's one game.
08:47And I've always said that the team you see today
08:51won't be the team you see tomorrow.
08:52And so that's our mentality.
08:54And we have a North Star, we have a Red Star
08:57all over the building where that is winning.
09:00But at the same time, it's getting better
09:02each and every weekend.
09:03And that's what I expect from the guys.
09:05We are at Gillette Stadium with Gerard Mayo.
09:07We are at Gillette.
09:08And the Hellman's Mayo question of the week, by the way,
09:12you can purchase Hellman's at your local Walmart or grocery
09:15store to add extra deliciousness and creamy flavor
09:18to your game day dishes this football season.
09:21Yum.
09:21Creamy.
09:22Yes, always.
09:24Maybe rather than Gatorade, when it's a win,
09:28it ought to be Mayo.
09:30Mayo bath?
09:32What about the Mayo bath?
09:33As long as we win.
09:34As long as we win, I don't care what it is.
09:37I genuinely was surprised by the Gatorade bath.
09:42You were?
09:43Yeah, I was.
09:44It was pretty cool, though.
09:44It was pretty cool.
09:45Yeah.
09:46Well, here's where I'll say I thought you guys did a really
09:50good job defensively, especially that front.
09:53When you look at what Keon White was able to do,
09:55you always talk about anybody who's played the game
09:58knows the game starts in the trenches.
10:00When you look at what your defensive front was
10:02able to do pretty much all game long to Joe Burrow,
10:06an elite quarterback, and just making him feel and look
10:09uncomfortable back there, what was some of the stuff
10:12that you saw from your D-line?
10:13I saw those guys just hustling.
10:15And a lot of those sacks, once again,
10:18the pass rush has to marry up with the back end.
10:21And so I thought Keon had a great game.
10:24I thought, let's rewind and go to the run game.
10:28DG and Farms, all those guys did a great job in the run game
10:33to get them into passing situations.
10:35And I would say they went out there and played well.
10:37They hustled.
10:37And this is why I always preach, let's run to the ball.
10:41Because you know when you run to the ball, things happen.
10:44Things happen in this game.
10:45And I thought they did a good job.
10:48And we've had great defenses here in this organization
10:56where you haven't had that premier rusher.
11:00And we were able to still get pressure
11:02through stunts and different games that we run up front.
11:05And those guys did a good job yesterday.
11:08In saying that, when you watch the film,
11:10there's still so much room to improve.
11:13There's so much room to improve.
11:15And one thing I will say about the game,
11:17I was so proud of the guys.
11:19I always talk about pulling the nose up.
11:21And so when the plane's going down,
11:22be ready to pull the nose up.
11:24In the third quarter, it got a little shaky there.
11:26And I'm sure you guys, all you guys here sitting around me
11:28probably were like, oh, no, oh, no.
11:31But they were able to pull the nose up, and it was good.
11:34It was good for the team.
11:35Cardona getting that fumble.
11:36Joe Cardona.
11:38To have a vet like that on your team, though, I mean,
11:41how happy were you that he was able to?
11:42A vet military-wise or football-wise?
11:44Well, both.
11:45I mean, both.
11:46First time a long snapper has created a fumble.
11:49You know, look, Joe's a good athlete.
11:51He was voted a captain by his peers.
11:54And we told him, just go to the ball, go to the ball.
11:57And to cause a turnover like that, I was just pumped for him.
12:02Looking ahead, and this week, what
12:05are the things that you're going to go in and say
12:07we got to work on?
12:08First, I do think it's important that the guys know,
12:12when we hit our targets, we have a very good chance
12:15to win the game.
12:16And so before we change the page,
12:17that's what I want to talk about.
12:19And then after that, there were so many plays out there
12:23that we just kind of left out there.
12:26And I want to show them that.
12:28Even though we walk away with a win,
12:30there are so many opportunities for us
12:31to be a better football team.
12:33And that's my message to the team.
12:36We saw that Robert Kraft gave you the game ball after.
12:39Must have been a nice moment for you.
12:41Did you happen to hear from your predecessor?
12:44Congratulations on the first win.
12:46I'm not going to get into that.
12:47But what I will say is this.
12:49It was very special for me to get the game
12:53ball from Mr. Kraft.
12:55And I was so thankful just for the opportunity,
12:59not only for me, but also for Elliott.
13:01And so I actually gave a ball to Elliott
13:06because we work in tandem.
13:07But what I will say is, it was just such a special moment.
13:12It was 20 plus years that it's been a different coach
13:15in there.
13:16And it was good.
13:20So some of those targets.
13:21You're going to make me cry.
13:22No, don't worry about it.
13:23We know that guys can cry now.
13:26Men don't cry.
13:28Some of those targets, would that
13:29be holding your opponent to 100 yards rushing,
13:32your third down, proficiency on defense,
13:36was you kept them on those 45%?
13:38We'll always have a good run defense.
13:44I truly believe that.
13:45And when I talk to you guys, I'm talking to the players.
13:48They listen to this stuff.
13:50Earlier, what I said was, Instagram, whatever it is,
13:54they listen to it.
13:55So here you go, guys.
13:56We'll always be a good run defense, no matter what.
13:59And our job defensively is to make the other team
14:04one dimensional.
14:05And that's what happened yesterday.
14:06Go ahead, finish your question.
14:07No, no.
14:07No, you want to say something.
14:09Go ahead, Wiggy.
14:09No, go ahead, Wiggy.
14:10No, I just, you know, I love to kind of give people
14:14a look behind the curtain a little bit.
14:16And you do a great job.
14:17Some of those things.
14:18And then obviously,
14:19Where is the curtain?
14:20Yes, we pulled it back right now.
14:21Pulled it back.
14:22The Monday morning meeting, I bet it was probably,
14:24guys were pretty happy to be involved in that.
14:26And just talking about some of, I
14:28know it's difficult to really say some of the things
14:31that we try to set goals for.
14:33But it looks like you were able to do defensively
14:35and offensively.
14:36I don't know if it's a buck 25 that you're
14:37going to do rushing the ball on offense.
14:39But I said, I said, I think it was Wednesday.
14:43I said, we're going to run the ball.
14:44It's not a secret.
14:45Once again, you know, I think sometimes it gets overblown.
14:49Oh, these, you know, they know the scheme.
14:51They know what you're trying.
14:52We're going to run the ball all year.
14:54I don't want to talk about it anymore.
14:56Here you go.
14:57Everything, everything that we do is, just listen.
15:01So I never have to answer this again.
15:03We will always, always offensively
15:06be a run first team.
15:08And you've got to stop it.
15:10And if you do, then we have other answers after that.
15:13It's not a secret.
15:14And I would say, you know, it comes down to everyone
15:17gets so tied up into the X's and O's.
15:20No, it's about beating the man across from you.
15:23It's about execution.
15:24It's about being tougher than that guy.
15:26It's about playing with better fundamentals than that guy.
15:29It's about moving bodies, as you know, right?
15:32You move bodies back and forth.
15:33Well, I don't know, I mean, just let me catch the football.
15:37I left out moving bodies to Rod Rutledge
15:39and some of those offensive linemen.
15:41Just test hands.
15:42They're very good.
15:43But Gerard, we've been talking all day about, you know,
15:46Jacoby Brissett's start, how that sort of adds
15:49to the runway to sort of get the season underway
15:51and see where you guys are.
15:53The plan, I know you're not going to pull the curtain back
15:55on that completely, but are there revisions?
15:58Have there been revisions to the plan with Drake May?
16:01Where are there things that could happen between now
16:04and week five that would change it?
16:06Or is the plan just no matter what happens on the field,
16:08you're going to stick with what you and Elliot have put together?
16:11As a coaching staff, as an organization,
16:12we're 100% behind Jacoby.
16:15I just read that off this paper.
16:17I like that.
16:19We're 100% behind Jacoby.
16:20We have a developmental plan for Drake.
16:23I mean, it's not for you guys to know what
16:26the developmental plan is, but we're developing him as well
16:30as getting Jacoby ready to go out there and be our starting
16:32quarterback and win games.
16:34I'm not sure what else I can say about that.
16:36No, is a part of that being a former player
16:39and you brought him in here and told him,
16:42hey, this is your job?
16:45So you want to honor that?
16:46No, that's not how it worked out.
16:48It worked because I preach competition all the time.
16:52And Jacoby won the competition, and he won the game yesterday.
16:56The team won the game yesterday.
16:58The guys are behind him.
16:59Like, we're moving forward, and we're getting ready for Seattle.
17:02And is Drake on the same page when it comes to that?
17:04Drake's on the same page.
17:05He understands.
17:06I had an individual conversation with Drake.
17:08I had an individual conversation with Jacoby.
17:10I had a conversation with the two of them together,
17:13and I also had a conversation with the team.
17:15And we're all on the same page, very transparent.
17:18I believe coaches should be transparent,
17:21because we've all had coaches that weren't.
17:23I believe that.
17:24And it kind of makes you upset.
17:26And so for me, I'm always going to be honest,
17:28and I tell the coaching staff, our job
17:30is to put a mirror in front of the guys
17:32and show them what it really is so they can become
17:35the player that they want to be.
17:37And you know your family, oh, you did a great job.
17:41Like, Mom, no, I didn't.
17:44Everyone around you is always going
17:45to talk about how good you did.
17:48And when you come in this building,
17:51we have to be very honest with each other,
17:52have honest conversations.
17:53Do you find that being the thing?
17:55Because that is the biggest thing for athletes,
17:57especially football players in the NFL,
18:00is a coach that can be 100% transparent and just say,
18:04hey, give it to me straight.
18:05I'm a man.
18:06I'll take it whatever way it is.
18:08Do you feel like that's part of, because we
18:10hear the players talk about the vibe is different.
18:12Do you feel like that's a big message for you
18:15is giving it to these guys, because you're
18:17a former player, the way, with no sugarcoating it,
18:21so they can feel like he's keeping it real?
18:23I do.
18:23And this is a relationship business.
18:29And if I can't tell you the truth and what it really is,
18:32then we're going to have a problem.
18:33Like, we're always going to ask something.
18:35It may not be a problem today.
18:36It may not be a problem tomorrow.
18:38But at some point in time, it's going to be a problem.
18:40But if I always tell you the truth,
18:41I don't have to remember, hey, what's
18:43the last thing I told you?
18:44Yeah.
18:44Yeah.
18:45100%.
18:45And so, and once again, I don't want to, like,
18:49it's a great win for the team.
18:52At the same time, we have so much to work on.
18:56How much stock do you put in that it was a road win?
18:59And will the vibe be different now that you
19:02have a home game ahead of you?
19:03Not really.
19:04We talk about, you know, if we don't create our identity,
19:07someone will create it for us.
19:09You guys hear them on TV, and podcasts, and radio.
19:13And so we talked about being able to play on a road.
19:16And now we're going to talk about protecting our house.
19:18And hopefully, here's a message for the fans.
19:21Come out and be loud when our defense is out there.
19:24But don't be loud when our offense is out there.
19:26But, you know, I do think that's part of it.
19:30I know you guys were flying back,
19:31but did you catch any of your old teammates debut
19:34on Fox yesterday?
19:36I did not.
19:37I heard a little bit.
19:38What I will say, one thing about TV 12
19:42is that he's not a repeat error type of guy.
19:46Or he's not a, he'll get better each and every time.
19:49So I heard some of the stuff, but not a lot.
19:53But I have nothing but 100% faith in him.
19:56He'll be a great one.
19:58A great one again.
20:00A double goat.
20:01A double goat.
20:02Two goats.
20:04Is it one goat body and two goat heads?
20:07I don't know.
20:08I don't know, so I think that.
20:09Well, listen, congratulations.
20:11Off to a good start here.
20:13And turn the page and get ready for Seattle.
20:15You guys are talking a lot of noise
20:17about me next time I'm coming here.
20:18No, I'm saying, who knows?
20:19We'll just keep winning.
20:21Listen, I'm happy to apologize.
20:22No, no, you're not going to apologize.
20:25I didn't, the virtual sprints rep thing, I was.
20:28Virtual sprints, you're not doing virtual sprints.
20:31All right, now we're doing fat jokes.
20:33No, no, I don't, no, I'm not doing fat jokes.
20:36I just said you don't do virtual sprints.
20:39All right, we got to get you, what do we have to do?
20:41We have to get you a discount on a new Range Rover.
20:43New Range Rover and more mayonnaise.
20:45And more mayonnaise.
20:46More mayonnaise.
20:47And you got to pick your walk-up song.
20:49I know, I know.
20:50Still working on it.
20:52I don't have the time to think about it.
20:53Why don't you guys put something out on social media
20:55and we'll figure it out.
20:56Oh, and say what it should be?
20:57Yeah, what it should be and then we vote on it.
20:59Do you like Chapel Roan?
21:01Chapel Roan?
21:02That's Greg's pink pony.
21:04Claire, how old are you?
21:06I act like I'm 27.
21:08No, how old are you?
21:08I'm 57.
21:09Ooh.
21:12I don't, I don't know.
21:14What did this turn into?
21:15No, no, I'm saying it's just different, it's a different.
21:19Chapel Roan, what is Chapel Roan?
21:20Chapel Roan's for the Gen Z-ers right now,
21:22but Greg is using that to relate to the younger folks.
21:26Who do you like?
21:27Who are your top three artists?
21:28You like Hanson?
21:29No, no, no.
21:30Top three artists.
21:31Bruce Springsteen.
21:32Ooh.

21:35And probably the Foo Fighters.
21:38I would not pick you out to be a Foo Fighter fan,
21:40but we'll take it.

21:42Now watch this, Wiggy, your top three, go.

21:58I would probably go Teddy Pendergrass.
22:02Ooh.
22:03Very minimal in your diversity and music taste.
22:05Yeah, yeah, yeah.
22:06You gotta-
22:07I love Journey too.
22:08I love Motley Crue.
22:08You are not very diverse.
22:10No, I know.
22:10When it comes to music.
22:11But he said my top three.
22:12It's crazy.
22:13I know, but yeah.
22:14Who needs to be more diverse?
22:15Yeah.
22:15This reminds me of when Belichick did this with us last year.
22:17Well, you're a PA guy,
22:18so I'm surprised you didn't have the clips on there.
22:20Who's your top three?
22:21The clips?
22:22Who are they from the clips?
22:23Yeah, so who are your top three?
22:24Tell us your top three,
22:25and then we'll put a bunch of songs.
22:25I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go-
22:27Taylor Swift.
22:28No.
22:29No, I'm not doing Taylor Swift.
22:31Oh, we have to ask about Shyam also.
22:33Who?
22:33Oh.
22:34You know how we were talking to you about
22:35Taylor Swift designing a play?
22:36Yeah.
22:37Our guy, Shyam, big PFF guy back at the studio,
22:40wants to design a play.
22:41Fantastic.
22:42We'll run it.
22:43No.
22:44If it's not a run play, I don't wanna see it.
22:45Shyam, what do you think?
22:46Ooh, okay, so I gotta come up with a good run play.
22:48You got it.
22:48Hey, no, hold on.
22:50All right, I'm gonna go Biggie.
22:51Okay.
22:53I'm gonna go Jay-Z.
22:54Yup.
22:55Some of these new guys are pretty,
22:57I don't know, these groups.
22:58I'll go Migos.
22:59Migos.
23:00And you know what?
23:00Hey, you know what?
23:01I'm not diverse.
23:02I was gonna say, you're not very diverse either.
23:05No, no, no.
23:06I mean-
23:07You know what?
23:08I'm an Elton John fan.
23:08You wanna play Elton John?
23:09I like Journey.
23:10Hey, so one time, so I met Elton John.
23:12We went to this private concert.
23:14I was out there with Kraft,
23:15and he's up there on a piano.
23:17It was first time for me hearing Elton John,
23:19and he's killing it.
23:20You know, on the piano and stuff.
23:22And then we go backstage,
23:24and we're talking, we're chatting it up.
23:26And we're literally in the middle of the conversation,
23:28and like three people come around him.
23:30He has this velour suit on.
23:32Three people come around him,
23:33and they just pull up like a curtain,
23:34and we're still having a conversation.
23:36And he starts-
23:37And he changes.
23:38Right?
23:39He changed.
23:40Oh, we're out of dress, right?
23:41Right there.
23:42And then the curtain went down.
23:43I was like, wow, he's a boss.
23:45Elton John.
23:46Didn't he pee in the water bottle?
23:47No.
23:48Yes, he did.
23:50When you're that talented,
23:51you can do whatever you want.
23:52Do whatever you want.
23:53Do whatever you want.
23:54You got major street cred.
23:55Well, listen, thanks for taking the time this morning.
23:57We appreciate it.
23:58All good.
23:59Congrats.

24:02Gerard Mayo.
