00:19In Venezuela, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez denounced that a coup d'etat is still
00:26underway by far-right agents after the July 28th presidential election.
00:33And in Russia, President Vladimir Putin takes part in the 9th Eastern Economic Forum held
00:37in the city of Vladivostok with the theme Far East 2030, combining strength to create
00:42new potential.
00:43Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisa Studios in Havana,
00:53Cuba.
00:54Breaking the news, the Mexican Chamber of Deputies approved in general on Wednesday
00:58the reform of the judicial branch by 359 votes in favor and 135 against after a session that
01:04lasted 11 hours.
01:06The session took place in an alternate headquarters due to protests that tried to prevent the
01:11session.
01:12The reform aims at democratizing the judicial system in the country by, among other things,
01:16establishing the election of ministers, judges and magistrates and other public positions
01:21through popular vote, as well as the reduction of their term in office.
01:24Furthermore, under the principles of republican austerity, it intends to put a stop to the
01:29excessive and onerous expenses of the judiciary.
01:35The President of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, denounced new attempts to destabilize the
01:44peace and institutionality of the Central American country.
01:47The head of state rejected any type of meeting between drug traffickers and politicians who
01:51only seek to generate chaos in the national territory.
01:54She also rejected the plan of these destabilizing agents to overthrow her government and destroy
01:59the next electoral process in the nation.
02:01Likewise, the President stressed that the same coup forces of 2009 are re-articulating
02:06with the national and international media to plot a new coup d'etat while urging the
02:11population to repel such actions against Honduran institutions.
02:15She also stated that her government would not allow the extradition treaty with the
02:19United States to be used in a selective manner.
02:23Honduran people, in relation to the video of 2013 published today in networks, I condemn
02:43all types of negotiations between drug traffickers and politicians.
02:49As I expressed in previous days, after the threats of the Ambassador of the United States
02:56accusing the Joint Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and the former Minister of Defense
03:03of Honduras of drug traffickers, I ratify that peace and internal security of the Republic
03:11are at risk.
03:13The plan to destroy my socialist, democratic government and the next electoral process
03:22are underway.
03:24The Honduran head of state also asked the National Congress and the Public Prosecutor's
03:28Office to reform legal regulations so that the security forces can combat organized crime
03:33with force.
03:43I request the Attorney General of the Republic to exercise drastic actions in all the cases
03:50presented here, without any selectivity, in order to combat drug trafficking.
03:58I respectfully request the National Congress, when my party is in a clear minority, to reform
04:07legal regulations so that the security forces of the state, currently limited, can combat
04:15this organized crime with force.
04:19To the new Minister of Defense, Lawyer Rixi Moncada, I order her to provide all the tools
04:28and technology required by the Armed Forces to prevent Honduras from continuing to be
04:34used as a bridge for the trafficking of drugs that are consumed by thugs in the countries
04:40of destination.
04:43In Venezuela, the Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino Lopez, assured that a coup d'etat
04:47against the country is still underway at the July 28th presidential election.
04:51Padrino Lopez stated in a lecture at the Military Academy of Caracas that the July 29th and
04:5630th criminal incidents right after the presidential elections were not the end, but are part of
05:01a coup plot that will continue seeking to undermine the Venezuelan institutionality.
05:06In addition, Padrino Lopez denounced the supportive actions of foreign governments favoring these
05:10attacks that attempt against the country's sovereignty and peace by targeting its services
05:16and institutions.
05:25Just a couple of days ago, on Friday, we received an attack, one of those of the fourth generation
05:31and the fifth generation of warfare, an attack on the power grid, which is not the power
05:36grid per se, but it is the water, the communications, everything that implies stopping a country
05:41and taking away its electricity, we have just seen it and therefore, he draws as conclusions
05:46this is a coup d'etat, which has not ended as it is still underway.
05:50When we see Mr. Doctor, the extraterritoriality and international scope of the coup d'etat,
05:55a coup d'etat that was well planned, well done, which disturbs then, intends to disturb
06:00the conscience of the Venezuelan human being.
06:03Likewise, the Minister of Defense of Venezuela granted that the armed forces are a blatant
06:09target of US imperialism to break down the institutionality of the Bolivarian Republic.
06:17We must realize we are actually facing permanent aggressions, PhD Professor Moncada drew as
06:23conclusions that since 2002, since that decade, we were already facing the attempts of the
06:28US imperialism to disrupt the Venezuelan institutionality, to destroy it, precisely the US is willing
06:34to take over the country.
06:35We must be aware of it.
06:37And from now on, we must develop all forms.
06:39First of all, we must be aware of what the Venezuelan people is going through, of what
06:44Venezuela as a nation and the armed forces as an institution are going through, because
06:49we are a permanent target of US imperialism that is breaking down the Venezuelan state
06:53and breaking down, breaking down the national spirit of the people, its institutions, its
06:58democracy.
07:01Venezuelan Minister of Transportation Ramon Palacios Araguayan denounced on Tuesday a
07:05new sabotage against the electric system of the railroad at the Libertador Simon Bolivar
07:10station in La Rincona de Caracas.
07:12The minister affirms this attack took place in the early hours of the night when a fire
07:16was detected in the electric plant.
07:18Moreover, Palacios emphasizes that thanks to the work of the fire department, the operation
07:22of the railroad has been re-established with totality.
07:26He condemns this criminal acts and has requested an investigation on this case to find those
07:31responsible for these actions intended to disturb the peace of the Venezuelan people.
07:42We condemn these events from the Ministry of Transportation.
07:57It is not the way to do politics.
08:00These are actions that disturb the peace of a people that is determined and clear about
08:05the direction we must take.
08:08As our president, Nicolás Maduro, the leader of victory, has indicated to us.
08:18We will continue moving forward to prevent the extreme right from affecting the tranquility
08:24of the Venezuelan people.
08:27We are already requesting and organizing the necessary investigation to consolidate this
08:34accusation that we are making public today and to find those responsible for this act
08:41who seek to affect the tranquility of the Venezuelan people.
08:44But they have not succeeded and will not succeed.
08:49Let's now take a short break, but remember you can join us on TikTok at Televisual English

09:04Welcome back.
09:25The International Committee for the Freedom of Jorge Glass stated that the health and
09:29life of former Ecuadorian Vice President is in danger and demands an international
09:33medical mission for his care and the right to asylum.
09:37The committee warned on Monday in a press conference and through a press release that
09:40Jorge Glass' health is delicate, alleging that the treatments for the chronic diseases
09:45he suffers are insufficient.
09:47Recalling the violent kidnapping of Glass last April 5th at the Mexican Embassy in Ecuador,
09:52the committee alleged that the La Roca Penitentiary Center, where he was transferred to, does
09:56not meet the minimum conditions of health and safety for anybody.
10:05And in Chile, the UNITAS 2024 multinational naval exercise, organized by the United States
10:10Southern Command and the Chilean Navy, began on Monday in the city of Valparaíso.
10:15The operations of the year carried out between the 2nd and the 12th of September, with the
10:20participation of 24 countries, 17 ships, 2 submarines and 23 aircraft on the coast of
10:26the regions of Coquimbo, Valparaíso and Magallanes.
10:29Chilean Vice Admiral Claudio Maldonado expressed that they are very happy to be able to participate
10:34in this exercise because it also allows them to show the capabilities and preparation for
10:38planning and conducting operations that the Chilean Navy has.
10:46In France, in the southern city of Avignon, a 71-year-old man is on trial, charged with
10:50enlisting dozens of strangers to abuse his drugged wife.
10:54This way, allegations against Dominique Pellicott were exposed in 2020, when he was caught filming
11:00women's skirts in a supermarket.
11:03During searches, investigators came across thousands of photos and videos showing his
11:07wife, Giselle, being sexually abused by strangers recruited via online.
11:12The trial, due to conclude in December, holds rape charges against Pellicott and 51 other
11:16men who were effectively tracked down, while the number of actual suspects rises to 72.
11:22The victim, who was unaware of the abuse that went on for a decade, has asked for the
11:26trial to be open to the public, as she wants the shame around these cases to change sides.
11:37She also believes that, even though there will be some extremely difficult moments,
11:41she doesn't have to hide or be ashamed of what she's been through, as many victims of
11:45sexual assault, rape and other serious crimes sometimes feel.
11:50And it's also a way for her to say that we can overcome this ordeal, even if it's just
11:54the beginning today, and that it's important for this to be known and for shame to change sides.
12:02On Saturday, UNICEF launched an emergency tender for mpox vaccines to aid nations most
12:07affected by this virus.
12:08However, the shortage of vaccines is still a reality in the Democratic Republic of the
12:12Congo, one of the countries hardest hit by the disease.
12:14Through a joint statement, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the Gavi Vaccine Alliance
12:20and the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention stressed the need to both secure
12:24immediate access to available mpox vaccines and surge production.
12:28While the organizations are trying to negotiate profitable deals and reaching conditional
12:32supply agreements, the DRC reported over 18,000 mpox cases so far this year, with a death
12:39toll of 629.
12:40In this context, doctors are concerned about the vaccine shortage.
12:49At the moment, in any case, it would be nice if we could have the vaccines, because I see
12:54patients asking for the vaccines themselves.
12:57So you find that right now it's a worry, and it would be desirable for it to be given urgently.
13:02In Indonesia, Pope Francis called for increased inter-religious dialogue to face extremism
13:08and intolerance.
13:09After meeting with President Joko Widodo, the Pope gave a speech in which he criticized
13:13the upsurge of violent conflicts in various regions of the world.
13:16Pope Francis assured that the Catholic Church aims to increase inter-religious dialogue
13:20and to help a society still marked by a terrible gap between rich and poor.
13:25The Pope also advocated harmony and respect for differences, whether cultural, ideological
13:30or otherwise.

14:15Welcome back, In Palestine, the Israeli Occupation Forces
14:31continued their siege on the Gaza Strip for the 334th day since the onset of its genocide
14:37against the Palestinian people.
14:39In this context, civil defense teams recorded one dead body and six wounded after the Zionist
14:43regime shelled a residential apartment in the al-Tufa neighborhood east of Gaza City.
14:47In addition, an Israeli attack on a barracks house in a family in al-Zahaba wounded four
14:52other civilians.
14:53As self-reported, more people were injured in other parts of the devastated enclave following
14:58drone strikes and artillery bombardments launched by occupation forces.
15:02The death toll of the ongoing genocide in Gaza has increased to 40,819 since October
15:087.
15:11Meanwhile, the Israeli army continues its siege of the occupied West Bank for the eighth
15:16consecutive day.
15:17At least 33 Palestinians have been killed and 130 wounded since last Wednesday, most
15:22of them in Jenin.
15:24Israeli military vehicles destroyed the streets of Jenin as part of a campaign of harassment
15:28and collective punishment against the Palestinian people.
15:32Municipal authorities report that 80% of the city's infrastructure has been severely damaged.
15:37Authorities added that at least 30 Palestinians have been arrested since Tuesday night.
15:44In this context, mourners gather for the funeral of 16-year-old Palestinian teenager Luhayn
15:52Osama Musleh, who was shot dead by the Israeli army during a military operation in the Jenin
15:57in Gaza.
16:09When she opened the curtains, the sniper was in front of her, but she didn't see him.
16:14The sniper saw her.
16:15A little girl, unarmed.
16:17She didn't represent any danger, a bullet to her forehead.
16:21She was martyred on the spot.
16:23She was 16 and a school student.
16:26She had wanted martyrdom since she was 10, and she got it.
16:31In the United States, pro-Palestinian demonstrations were resumed at Columbia University in New
16:35York.
16:36Prior to the beginning of the new school year, dozens of students protested against the aggression
16:40perpetrated by the Zionist Israeli army in Gaza that is supported by the United States
16:45government through economic and military assistance.
16:47Among the expressions of protest that several students resorted to, the Alma Mater statue
16:53of the campus was stained with red paint in reference to the bloodshed of thousands
16:58of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
17:00In other news, the government of Turkey applied for full membership in the BRICS group ahead
17:09of the bloc summit to be held in Russia in October.
17:12Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his interest in expanding his global influence
17:18and forging new ties beyond his traditional Western allies.
17:22According to the Turkish administration, the geopolitical center has shifted away from
17:26developed countries, which is why the nation is now seeking to broaden its horizons.
17:30On the other hand, Russian advisers assured that the request of the Turkish government
17:34is under evaluation, as are those of Venezuela, Malaysia, Thailand and Serbia.
17:45Russian President Vladimir Putin takes part in the 9th Eastern Economic Forum held in
17:49the city of Vladivostok.
17:51Under the theme Far East 2030 Combining Strength to Create New Potentials, the event is attended
17:56by some 6,000 guests from 76 countries.
17:59The forum's agenda includes debates on international cooperation, the global economic situation,
18:05business meetings and project promotion events for different industries.
18:09The Eastern Economic Forum has been held since 2015 and seeks to develop the Far Eastern
18:15economy and expand international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
18:25In this context, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Chinese Vice President Han
18:29Sen and stated bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented level.
18:35Thanks to joint efforts, relations between China and Russia have reached an unprecedented
18:41high level.
18:42I hope that during today's meetings and tomorrow's joint work at the Eastern Economic Forum,
18:47we will be able to look for and find new directions for our cooperation.
18:53Since the beginning of this year, President Xi Jinping and President Putin have met twice
18:57and reached a series of important consensuses, which have pointed out the direction for strengthening
19:03our bilateral cooperation and planned a new blueprint for the future from a new starting
19:07point on the basis of the past 75 years.
19:12The 9th Ministerial Conference of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum was held in China, laying
19:17the groundwork for the opening of the summit in Beijing.
19:20The Chinese ministers of foreign affairs and the 53 African member countries of the forum
19:25were among the more than 300 attendees of the meeting.
19:29Since the 8th Ministerial Conference held in 2021, the two sides have implemented joint
19:34outcomes that include nine programs prioritizing China-Africa development and cooperation.
19:40Among other objectives, the event seeks to promote the alignment of the African Union's
19:44Agenda 2063 with the Belt and Road Initiative and other projects presented by China.
19:55On September 4, 1970, Salvador Allende won the presidential elections in Chile, and two
20:00months later the Congress ratified him as president of the country.
20:04It was Allende's fourth nomination and his victory represented the culmination of decades
20:08of efforts by the Latin American left.
20:11On September 1, Allende ended his campaign with a gigantic rally in front of nearly one
20:15million people.
20:17Around 3.5 million citizens over 21 years of age were called to the polls.
20:21Salvador Allende, who won in 10 of the 25 provinces, consolidated his victory with the
20:25wide margins achieved in the popular localities of Gran Santiago and in the provinces with
20:30the highest proletarian concentration.
20:33This government was endorsed by Unidad Popular, a coalition of six parties headed by communists
20:38and socialists.
20:39This government tried to establish a socialist state by sticking to democratic and constitutional
20:44means known as the Chilean way to socialism.
20:47Likewise, it was intended to implement projects such as the nationalization of copper, the
20:52nationalization of key areas of the economy, and the improvement of the agrarian reform.
20:57Right-wing parties and groups in alliance with the unions and nationalist forces deployed
21:01an increasingly radical tactic with the aim of overflowing the democratically elected
21:05government.
21:06Salvador Allende, Chilean surgeon and socialist politician, committed suicide on September
21:1111, 1973, after a coup d'etat attempted to overthrow him.
