00:01:29I will have some blockbuster announcements
00:01:31concerning World Championship Wrestling later on in the telecast, Jim.
00:01:35We think this is going to be the best Clash of the Champions ever.
00:01:38And our colleagues Eric Bischoff and Missy Hyatt are standing by.
00:01:42Let's go to them now.
00:01:45All right. Thanks, Jim and Tony.
00:01:48And welcome to the Clash of Champions,
00:01:50where once again, WCW brings you the very best this sport has to offer.
00:01:55And Missy, there is so much excitement surrounding the Clash of Champions.
00:01:59Well, like always, Eric, I'm going to be where the action is.
00:02:02And I'll have interviews throughout the broadcast
00:02:05with some of the biggest and brightest superstars of WCW.
00:02:08But right now, it's time to kick off the Clash of Champions.
00:02:11Let's get down to Gary Michael Cappella.
00:02:15Ladies and gentlemen, this first contest on the Clash of the Champions.
00:02:20Tag team action.
00:02:22It is set for one fall with a 30-minute time limit.
00:02:27Introducing team number one,
00:02:30accompanied by former heavyweight champion Harley Race.
00:02:34He's from the Rocky Mountains.
00:02:36He weighs 445 pounds.
00:02:40Big Ben Bader!
00:02:46His tag team partner from Kansas City,
00:02:49375 pounds.
00:02:52The bodyguard, Mr. Hughes!
00:02:57Fans, I'd like to remind you that Ricky the Dragon Steamboat
00:03:00is live on the wrestling hotline now until 25 past the hour.
00:03:05He's with Lance Russell and Gordon Soley,
00:03:07covering this event live on the hotline.
00:03:09So call now or talk perhaps to Ricky the Dragon Steamboat
00:03:12until 25 past the hour.
00:03:25What a challenge this will be for the Steiner brothers.
00:03:27Let's go back up to Gary Cappella.
00:03:29And ladies and gentlemen, their opponents.
00:03:32From Detroit, Michigan,
00:03:34total combined weight, 525 pounds,
00:03:38Rick Steiner, Scott Steiner,
00:03:41the Steiner brothers!
00:03:45The Steiner brothers,
00:03:47the WCW Magazine Tag Team of the Year.
00:03:53They are looking to get back in the title hunt.
00:03:56New World Tag Team Champions,
00:03:58Arn Anderson and Beautiful Bobby,
00:04:00they won those titles this past Thursday
00:04:02in Jacksonville, Florida, Tony.
00:04:04But this is a must-win situation for both teams
00:04:07as far as the tag team standings are concerned.
00:04:10Well, you know, right now,
00:04:11the furthest thing from the mind of the Steiner brothers
00:04:14have to be Arn Anderson and Beautiful Bobby.
00:04:16They have to be focused on Big Van Vader and Mr. Hughes.
00:04:19The Steiner's certainly one of the most powerful teams ever
00:04:22in the history of WCW,
00:04:23but I think this is, without a doubt,
00:04:25the biggest team they've ever met.
00:04:27And I mean, Big Van Vader is not only big,
00:04:30he is rough and rugged,
00:04:31and he wants to begin things.
00:04:33Two great former footballers
00:04:35against two great former amateur wrestlers.
00:04:39Mr. Hughes, who played at Kansas State
00:04:41not too far from Topeka, Manhattan,
00:04:44against Scotty Steiner,
00:04:45who is a great amateur at the University of Michigan.
00:04:49Scotty Steiner, single-leg pick-up,
00:04:51taking the big man off his feet.
00:04:53But Hughes quickly in the ropes, and we have a break.
00:04:55You know, I had a chance to talk to Scotty
00:04:57before I telecasted
00:04:58the year of last year of 1991.
00:05:00Started out with a bang for the Steiner's
00:05:02World Tag Team Champions,
00:05:03IWGP International Tag Team Champions.
00:05:06But you know, with that injury,
00:05:07he feels now this may be his biggest match
00:05:10since the injury right here on TBS.
00:05:13Good fireman carry takeover by Scott Steiner.
00:05:16And they are wrestling very sound thus far
00:05:18in attempting to get the 375-pound Mr. Hughes off his feet.
00:05:22There's Big Van Vader.
00:05:24Vader, two-time football All-American
00:05:26at Colorado, number-one draft choice of the Rams.
00:05:30Big right hand by Mr. Hughes.
00:05:32Found his mark in the jaw of Scott Steiner.
00:05:36Scotty and Rick cannot allow Hughes and Vader
00:05:39to dictate the pace and control the offense, Tony,
00:05:43in the early going of this one.
00:05:44Well, Jim, they got to keep him off their feet
00:05:47from establishing that vertical base.
00:05:48That's what Scotty tried to do with a single-leg pick-up
00:05:51early on.
00:05:54Mr. Hughes now letting his guard down.
00:05:58He's got him waist-high, two-punch.
00:06:02And quickly, Mr. Hughes leaves the ring.
00:06:08Harley Race, who will be in Kansas City tomorrow night
00:06:12for a big WCW event at the Municipal Auditorium.
00:06:16Ironically, Race won his first world title,
00:06:19that meant, in Kansas City
00:06:21in May of 1973.
00:06:23I guess Dory Funk Jr. Race will be involved
00:06:25in that big event in Kansas City
00:06:27at the Municipal Auditorium.
00:06:28Starts tomorrow night at 7 o'clock.
00:06:31Mr. Hughes made a critical error,
00:06:33and what it was was obvious,
00:06:34turning his back to Scotty Steiner,
00:06:36enabling Scotty Steiner to even think about
00:06:38what he wanted to do next.
00:06:41Scotty now trapped in the corner of Vader and Hughes,
00:06:45and Rick comes across to help his brother.
00:06:47Oh, right!
00:06:48That right hand floored Rick Steiner.
00:06:50Steiner thrown outside.
00:06:53And now, Vader is in.
00:06:55He throws Scott Steiner outside,
00:06:56both the Steiner brothers being manhandled
00:06:59by Vader and Hughes.
00:07:00But here they come!
00:07:01They're both up on top!
00:07:02Rick and Scott standing on the top rope!
00:07:05Steiner line!
00:07:06In tandem!
00:07:09What an explosion!
00:07:12For this crowd here at the Expo Center
00:07:15in Topeka, Kansas,
00:07:16and you're watching it live here on TBS.
00:07:19And the Steiners draw so much emotion from the fans,
00:07:22as long as they can execute those moves,
00:07:25as long as Big Fan Vader
00:07:26and Mr. Hughes continue to turn their back on the Steiners,
00:07:31and the Steiners will be able to do things like that,
00:07:33and they'll get even stronger as this match goes on.
00:07:39Mr. Hughes back in.
00:07:40There's Harley Race giving his men some instructions,
00:07:44and Race is a real master at strategy
00:07:46and in-ring technique.
00:07:48And here is Big Fan Vader.
00:07:50445 pounds!
00:07:55As I mentioned, a two-time All-American
00:07:57at the University of Colorado,
00:07:58in the Big 8 Conference.
00:08:00Number one draft choice in the Los Angeles Rams.
00:08:03He was a phenomenal offensive lineman.
00:08:05Good belly-to-back suplex,
00:08:06dropping Rick Steiner on his back.
00:08:09But what he needs to do right here
00:08:10is to maybe come up with something else.
00:08:13He dropped him. He looked at him.
00:08:14He's wasting a lot of time between point A and point B.
00:08:18Another suplex,
00:08:19taking a page out of the Steiners' playbook.
00:08:24Rick Steiner, high school,
00:08:26All-Stater in football and in wrestling.
00:08:30Bay City, Michigan.
00:08:32Vader now slowing it down,
00:08:34using that power and that tremendous mass
00:08:37with a great strength
00:08:39extending the arms in the military press,
00:08:42slamming Rick Steiner.
00:08:45But Jim, notice how Rick is getting to his feet
00:08:48by himself.
00:08:49Therefore, that tells me that Rick Steiner
00:08:51is not completely out of this,
00:08:52even though he's taking a lot of big blows.
00:08:56Vader, all 445,
00:08:58planting Rick Steiner in the corner.
00:09:02This Saturday on WCW,
00:09:03the Steiners will take on
00:09:05two members of the Dangerous Alliance,
00:09:07and I know they hope it will be
00:09:08beautiful Bobby and Arne Anderson,
00:09:10but they will wrestle the Dangerous Alliance
00:09:12this Saturday.
00:09:13Steiner line.
00:09:15Right out of the corner,
00:09:16that explosive Steiner line
00:09:17that flattened the 445-pounder
00:09:20in a suplex.
00:09:24The second Steiner line
00:09:25takes Vader over the top.
00:09:29Once again, Rick Steiner showing
00:09:31he has a lot of resiliency.
00:09:33Those big slams,
00:09:34Gorilla presses by,
00:09:35then, oh, my!
00:09:37Vader caught him.
00:09:38He caught him
00:09:39and rammed Steiner's back
00:09:41into the ring post.
00:09:42It shook the ring.
00:09:44Great strength, Tony,
00:09:45by Van Vader catching Rick Steiner
00:09:47in midair.
00:09:48That resiliency I was talking about
00:09:50may not come into play here
00:09:51because he hit flesh in that ring post,
00:09:53and now I'm not so sure
00:09:54if he can get back to his feet or not.
00:09:55Look, though.
00:09:56Steiner still attempts
00:09:57to get to his feet by himself.
00:10:03Van Vader with a clothesline of his own
00:10:06showing that he, too,
00:10:07can deliver the high-impact maneuvers.
00:10:10These athletes represent
00:10:11great institutions like Colorado,
00:10:14Michigan, and Kansas State.
00:10:19Vader now going for the first
00:10:22high-risk move of his duo
00:10:26in this matchup,
00:10:27but he's caught by Rick Steiner
00:10:28with those right hands,
00:10:29and now what can Rick Steiner do
00:10:32to the 445-pounder?
00:10:35He got him up and got him over.
00:10:37What power, what strength
00:10:39by Rick Steiner,
00:10:40belly-to-belly suplexing Vader
00:10:42off the top rope.
00:10:46Scotty in.
00:10:48Going for the cover.
00:10:49He's got him.
00:10:50One, two to near fall.
00:10:51He got two that time.
00:10:53One of the keys here for the Steiners
00:10:54was Scotty pulling on that rope,
00:10:55preventing Vader from getting up top.
00:10:57That's enabled the Steiners
00:10:58to get the advantage.
00:11:00Scotty trying to belly-to-back suplex,
00:11:01but Vader widening his base
00:11:03and setting out an assist
00:11:06from brother Rick with those right hands,
00:11:08and Vader up and down.
00:11:10And if you like high-impact wrestling,
00:11:14this is WCW at its best here.
00:11:17Scotty high-risk move,
00:11:19and Vader caught him
00:11:20and turned it into a power slam.
00:11:22Well, that time, Scotty,
00:11:23when he saw that Vader was up
00:11:25standing waiting on him,
00:11:26he should have climbed down,
00:11:28but he took the risk,
00:11:29and he's paid for it.
00:11:31Vader missed with a clothesline.
00:11:33Scotty up and over.
00:11:35And Vader!
00:11:36Oh, my!
00:11:37445 right down in the chest.
00:11:40Got to knock the breath out of Scott Steiner
00:11:42in that move,
00:11:43and Vader makes a tag to Mr. Hughes.
00:11:48Yeah, you knew Hughes
00:11:49would kick him while he's down.
00:11:50This is where Mr. Hughes is so effective
00:11:53when the other person is injured.
00:11:55Oh, power slam!
00:11:57What power moves we're seeing here.
00:11:59He may have him.
00:12:002 1⁄2!
00:12:01Near fall situation
00:12:03secured by Mr. Hughes
00:12:04in this tag team war.
00:12:07Another clothesline.
00:12:09You know, Jim,
00:12:10I haven't seen the Steiners
00:12:11in this kind of trouble,
00:12:12really, since they wrestled in Japan
00:12:15about a year ago
00:12:17as a team.
00:12:19Irish whip.
00:12:21And Hughes
00:12:23took a chance.
00:12:24Took a chance.
00:12:25Didn't got to pay off, obviously.
00:12:30What a broadcast we have.
00:12:32And there's a tag.
00:12:34Rick Steiner in.
00:12:37Hughes up and over!
00:12:40That low center of gravity
00:12:42working so well for Rick Steiner.
00:12:43He elevated him!
00:12:45What a back body drop
00:12:47executed by Rick Steiner
00:12:48on Mr. Hughes.
00:12:51Now Van Vader wants to come in.
00:12:53I think Harley Race has told him
00:12:54get in there.
00:12:56Vader, a cheap shot from behind.
00:12:59Here comes Scott Steiner.
00:13:01Vader throwing Rick outside,
00:13:03who's the legal man.
00:13:04And now they'll double team Scotty.
00:13:07Hughes holding Scott.
00:13:09Scott dropped out of sight.
00:13:11And Hughes was kneeled
00:13:13by his own partner.
00:13:15Race up.
00:13:16Race knocked off the apron.
00:13:18Steiner and Vader fighting outside
00:13:20as Rick Steiner climbs up top.
00:13:22Mr. Hughes is dazed.
00:13:24And there's a bulldog!
00:13:28Bulldog!
00:13:29And a three!
00:13:30The Steiners win it!
00:13:31Ladies and gentlemen,
00:13:32the winners of the match,
00:13:34Rick Scott,
00:13:35the Steiner Brothers!
00:13:39What a victory for the Steiner Brothers.
00:13:42Tony, as we take another look
00:13:44at some of the high impact moves
00:13:47we just witnessed.
00:13:48I tell you what, Jim,
00:13:49one of the keys of this match
00:13:50was the time between point to point
00:13:53and execution.
00:13:54The Steiners wasted no time.
00:13:56Moves like it's belly to belly.
00:13:57Then they would come back
00:13:58with something else immediately.
00:14:00And then this.
00:14:01When Vader and Scott
00:14:02were on the outside,
00:14:03Rick, tremendous elevation
00:14:05from the corner.
00:14:06And the Steiners deserve it.
00:14:07They continue to move up the ladder
00:14:09in tag team rankings.
00:14:10Steiner Brothers looking
00:14:11for the World Tag Team Championship.
00:14:13And we'll have more
00:14:14on the clash of the champions
00:14:15after this time out.
00:14:17♪♪
00:14:28♪♪
00:14:33Ladies and gentlemen,
00:14:34the following tag team event,
00:14:36it is set for one fall
00:14:38with a 20 minute time limit.
00:14:41Introducing first,
00:14:43from Wyoming,
00:14:44weighing 230 pounds,
00:14:47Young Pistol Tracy.
00:14:50His tag team partner
00:14:51from Vero Beach, Florida,
00:14:53240 pounds,
00:14:56the Taylor Made Man.
00:14:59Fans, don't forget WCW
00:15:00this Thursday night
00:15:01in Springfield, Missouri
00:15:02at the Shrine Lost.
00:15:03Mike Peltz got a big card there
00:15:04for this Friday night
00:15:05in Joplin, Missouri
00:15:06at the Memorial Hall
00:15:08promoter Barry Jackson
00:15:09got a big line up there.
00:15:11That's Thursday in Springfield
00:15:12and Friday in Joplin.
00:15:17And ladies and gentlemen,
00:15:18their opponents,
00:15:19from Cincinnati, Ohio,
00:15:21225 pounds,
00:15:23Flyin' Brian.
00:15:26And from Marietta, Georgia,
00:15:28235 pounds,
00:15:30Marcus Alexander-Bagwell.
00:15:35The rookie,
00:15:36Marcus Alexander-Bagwell
00:15:38and High Flyin' Brian Pillman.
00:15:41Gonna be two veterans here
00:15:43in the Taylor Made Man
00:15:44and Young Pistol Tracy.
00:15:46And Tony, to the best
00:15:47of my knowledge,
00:15:48neither of these four
00:15:49have been tag team partners
00:15:51on any regular basis.
00:15:53So it's gonna be,
00:15:54perhaps the advantage
00:15:55will be to the men
00:15:56with the most experience.
00:15:58That meaning the Taylor Made Man
00:15:59and Smothers.
00:16:00But you know that Smothers
00:16:02is used to Steve Armstrong
00:16:03as his partner.
00:16:04So his timing with Taylor
00:16:06may be a little bit off
00:16:07more than Bagwell
00:16:09and Flyin' Brian.
00:16:13Taylor Made Man,
00:16:14who left the York Foundation
00:16:15about three weeks ago
00:16:16to go on his own.
00:16:18Flyin' Brian,
00:16:19the very first
00:16:20WCW Light Heavyweight Champion.
00:16:25We'll be talking more
00:16:26about Jushin Thunder Liger
00:16:27in the WCW Light Heavyweight
00:16:29Championship later
00:16:30in this broadcast.
00:16:31As Taylor forces
00:16:32Pillman into the corner
00:16:33with a collar elbow tie up.
00:16:35And Taylor with a shoulder block
00:16:36to the midsection.
00:16:37Follows it with a judo chop.
00:16:43And Pillman retaliated
00:16:44as you can hear.
00:16:47Great quickness
00:16:48by Flyin' Brian.
00:16:49Taking down the Taylor Made Man.
00:16:53And Bagwell with a right hand.
00:16:55And Bagwell.
00:16:57Finally, scoring on Taylor again.
00:16:59Here comes Smothers.
00:17:00He's knocked down.
00:17:03Taylor went face first
00:17:04right there, Jim.
00:17:05And I think he went
00:17:06face first on purpose.
00:17:07Because it was better
00:17:08to hit the mat
00:17:09than get hit by Flyin' Brian
00:17:10in that right hand.
00:17:13Pillman's so quick.
00:17:15He's like a fast-breaking
00:17:16basketball team.
00:17:17But that's how
00:17:18you slow it down.
00:17:19High impact move
00:17:21by the Taylor Made Man.
00:17:22Back breaker,
00:17:23leg hooked.
00:17:24He got two out of it.
00:17:25Referee Mike Atkins
00:17:26signals that to this
00:17:27tremendous crowd here
00:17:28in the Kansas Expo Center.
00:17:32Gotta give Taylor
00:17:33a lot of credit.
00:17:34Of course, you know,
00:17:35I've always thought
00:17:36he was maybe the most
00:17:37underrated superstar
00:17:38we have in WCW.
00:17:39He did not let
00:17:40Flyin' Brian's barrage
00:17:41at the beginning
00:17:42keep him away from doing
00:17:43what he wants to do.
00:17:44What a move!
00:17:46Great counter-movement
00:17:47to the head scissors.
00:17:48Crossbody press.
00:17:49Flyin' Brian reaches back.
00:17:50Hooked the leg
00:17:51and got two.
00:17:52Tags in the rookie
00:17:53Marcus Alexander Bagwell.
00:17:54And Bagwell brings Taylor
00:17:55with both feet
00:17:56as he does Smothers.
00:17:58Hip-blocking Taylor over.
00:17:59Hip-blocking Smothers over.
00:18:00The rookie for Marietta Taylor.
00:18:01The rookie for Marietta Georgia
00:18:02is on fire in the early going.
00:18:04Pillman.
00:18:06Aaron Pillman.
00:18:08Over the top.
00:18:09Drop kicks.
00:18:10And Pillman and Bagwell
00:18:11take to the air
00:18:12and are very effective
00:18:13in the early going
00:18:14of this tag team event.
00:18:17You know that slingshot,
00:18:18but watch out!
00:18:19Here they come!
00:18:21Over the top.
00:18:22Crossbody presses
00:18:23in tandem.
00:18:26Pillman is so competitive.
00:18:28He was a second team
00:18:29All-American
00:18:30nose guard
00:18:31at Miami of Ohio
00:18:32at 225.
00:18:33And that year,
00:18:34the first team
00:18:35All-American nose tackle
00:18:36was a man
00:18:37by the name of
00:18:38William the Refrigerator Perry.
00:18:40So that's the kind of athlete
00:18:41Flyin' Brian has been
00:18:42his entire sports career.
00:18:45Right now,
00:18:46he has done some
00:18:47great communication
00:18:48with the youngster
00:18:49Marcus Alexander Bagwell.
00:18:50Those series of moves, Jim,
00:18:51were indicative of a team
00:18:52which has worked together
00:18:53for quite a while.
00:18:54And like you said,
00:18:55it's the first time
00:18:56Flyin' Brian and Bagwell
00:18:57have been together.
00:18:59Bagwell,
00:19:00the side headlock,
00:19:01needs to keep it basic.
00:19:02He's still learning his craft
00:19:03thanks to his buddy Sting.
00:19:05But right there,
00:19:07the extracurricular move
00:19:09on Taylor may have cost him.
00:19:11Well, once again,
00:19:12it gets down to inexperience.
00:19:13Turning your attention
00:19:14away from your opponent
00:19:15is always deadly.
00:19:17Flying elbow well placed
00:19:19by young pistol Tracy.
00:19:23Now catches the rookie
00:19:24with a clothesline.
00:19:26Couldn't get the leg hooked
00:19:27and Bagwell able to kick out.
00:19:30We said Sting,
00:19:31among others,
00:19:32including Mike Graham,
00:19:33Dustin Rhodes,
00:19:34and Flyin' Brian
00:19:35have spent their own time
00:19:39to help Bagwell
00:19:40in workout sessions.
00:19:41But now,
00:19:42the Taylor made man is in.
00:19:45And Jim,
00:19:46I've said so many times
00:19:47that because he is so close
00:19:48to Sting,
00:19:49Bagwell has become
00:19:50wrapped up in Sting's
00:19:51bitter war with Flyin' Brian.
00:19:53Wrapped up in Sting's
00:19:54bitter war against
00:19:55the Dangerous Alliance.
00:19:56Lateral press
00:19:57and got two out of it.
00:19:58And that may be a mistake.
00:19:59He needs to focus his attention
00:20:01on developing his own career
00:20:03and leave any bad blood
00:20:04that any other people
00:20:05would have alone.
00:20:10Smothers with a scoop slam.
00:20:13Gains some momentum
00:20:14from the ropes.
00:20:15And strategically,
00:20:16a sound maneuver
00:20:18by Bagwell
00:20:19and even sounder
00:20:20to make the tag
00:20:21to the red hot
00:20:22Flyin' Brian Pillman.
00:20:24The Cincinnati Kid
00:20:25elevating Smothers.
00:20:27He dropkicks Taylor
00:20:28right off the apron.
00:20:34Spinning karate kick
00:20:35by Flyin' Brian.
00:20:37The leg is hooked
00:20:38and Taylor interrupts the count.
00:20:41Good move by Taylor.
00:20:42Only thing he could do
00:20:43right there.
00:20:46And now Taylor
00:20:47and Smothers
00:20:48double teaming
00:20:49Flyin' Brian.
00:20:50Bagwell trying to help
00:20:51his partner.
00:20:52Referee's putting him out.
00:20:55And Taylor
00:20:56suplexes
00:20:57Pillman outside.
00:20:58He suplexed him
00:20:59from the apron
00:21:00all the way to the floor.
00:21:01And Pillman
00:21:02may not be able
00:21:03to continue.
00:21:04That is a tough suplex
00:21:05because usually
00:21:06when you execute
00:21:07a suplex,
00:21:08you fall back as well.
00:21:09Taylor had to hold
00:21:10his ground on the apron
00:21:11and let Flyin' go down.
00:21:14Indeed,
00:21:15a gut check time
00:21:17for the former
00:21:18Cincinnati Bengal.
00:21:22Pillman now
00:21:23tossed back inside.
00:21:24Let's see if Smothers
00:21:25can finish him off.
00:21:27He's going for the cover
00:21:28right away.
00:21:30Again, Pillman
00:21:31just will not quit.
00:21:33Tony, this kid
00:21:34has got as much
00:21:35intestinal fortitude
00:21:36as any athlete
00:21:37I've ever seen
00:21:38in any athletic field.
00:21:43He needs it now, Jim.
00:21:44He got into a situation
00:21:45where he was pinned
00:21:46in that corner
00:21:47trying to fight two men.
00:21:48You know
00:21:49by hitting hard
00:21:50on that mat,
00:21:51he's not 100% here.
00:21:54WCW's version
00:21:55of Charlie Hustle,
00:21:56Flyin' Bryant,
00:21:58must now reach down
00:21:59try to hold on
00:22:01and execute a tag
00:22:02to his partner.
00:22:03He reverses
00:22:04the Irish whip
00:22:05but it's Taylor
00:22:06with the advantage.
00:22:07Gut wrench
00:22:08into a powerbomb.
00:22:10And a near fall.
00:22:11That was a long two.
00:22:13Pillman barely able
00:22:15to get a shoulder up.
00:22:17You know,
00:22:18Bryant is so courageous.
00:22:19You know he won't do this
00:22:20but he has to stay away now
00:22:22from Terence Taylor.
00:22:23Get away from him.
00:22:26Taylor has Pillman
00:22:27down in the corner
00:22:28right about
00:22:29hammering with right
00:22:30sand with left.
00:22:31The Taylor main man.
00:22:33Looking very, very
00:22:34impressive in this contest.
00:22:37Now makes the exchange
00:22:38with his tag team partner
00:22:39for this event,
00:22:40Young Crystal,
00:22:41Tracy Smith.
00:22:44Tracy.
00:22:46With the elbow.
00:22:47And again, Pillman
00:22:48with the steel.
00:22:51Tracy has the attention
00:22:52of the referee.
00:22:53I was thinking maybe
00:22:54Taylor would jump down
00:22:55and try to
00:22:56jump on Bryant some more
00:22:57but Bryant got back
00:22:58to his feet.
00:23:00Eric Pillman scores.
00:23:03That's how quickly
00:23:04the momentum can turn.
00:23:06Will it give him the opportunity
00:23:07for the tag?
00:23:08Indeed it does.
00:23:10Bagwell and
00:23:11with a full head of steel
00:23:13and those right hands
00:23:14finding their mark.
00:23:19Elevating Smothers.
00:23:21Eric Pillman in.
00:23:22All four men now.
00:23:23In there.
00:23:24Taylor takes Pillman
00:23:25straight outside again.
00:23:28And Taylor with a double
00:23:29axe handle.
00:23:30Mid-back area.
00:23:31And now Taylor
00:23:32and Smothers
00:23:33double teaming the rookie.
00:23:36Bagwell
00:23:37trying to sunset flip.
00:23:38Taylor trying to
00:23:39hold him up.
00:23:40Pillman.
00:23:41Look out.
00:23:42Pillman from behind.
00:23:43Bagwell held him.
00:23:44Ladies and gentlemen,
00:23:45here are your winners.
00:23:47The team of Marcus
00:23:48Alexander Bagwell
00:23:49and
00:23:50Brian
00:23:51Bryant.
00:23:54The rookie
00:23:55Marcus Alexander Bagwell
00:23:57in his first
00:23:58Clash of the Champions
00:23:59appearance.
00:24:00Scores a pinfall
00:24:01for his team.
00:24:02And what a fast-paced
00:24:03offensive match it was.
00:24:05And like we said
00:24:06early on,
00:24:07even though they had
00:24:08never teamed together,
00:24:09their teamwork
00:24:10was really brisk.
00:24:11They looked great
00:24:12as a team
00:24:13and then at the end
00:24:14you saw Brian
00:24:15flying Brian
00:24:16over he goes.
00:24:17Certainly the biggest
00:24:18moment in the young
00:24:19career of Marcus
00:24:20Alexander Bagwell
00:24:21to get the three count.
00:24:22Fans,
00:24:23when we come back,
00:24:24we'll take a look at
00:24:25Jushin Thunder Liger
00:24:26and see light heavyweights
00:24:27in action.
00:24:38Welcome back,
00:24:39ladies and gentlemen,
00:24:40to the Clash of the Champions.
00:24:41In just a few moments,
00:24:42we're going to see
00:24:43light heavyweights
00:24:44in action.
00:24:45Richard Morton
00:24:46and Johnny B. Badd.
00:24:47But, Tony,
00:24:48the greatest light heavyweight
00:24:49in the world today
00:24:50is the champion
00:24:51Jushin Thunder Liger.
00:24:52Jushin Thunder Liger
00:24:53came to the United States,
00:24:54of course,
00:24:55at Christmas time.
00:24:56Won the light heavyweight
00:24:57title from flying Brian
00:24:58in a great match
00:24:59at the Omni Gym.
00:25:00And it was one of the
00:25:01greatest matches
00:25:02we'd ever seen.
00:25:03He certainly has
00:25:04great aerial skills.
00:25:05Then he went back
00:25:06to Japan
00:25:07in front of 65,000 fans
00:25:08as the light heavyweight
00:25:09champion of the world.
00:25:10He is quite a hero
00:25:11over there.
00:25:12We know that
00:25:13Jushin Liger
00:25:14will be in our next
00:25:15pay-per-view event
00:25:16on Saturday,
00:25:17February 29,
00:25:18Super Brawl 2
00:25:19to defend his championship.
00:25:20His opponent
00:25:21has yet to be named.
00:25:22And perhaps this match
00:25:23will go a long way
00:25:24in determining
00:25:25that opponent.
00:25:26Let's go right now
00:25:27back up to our ring announcer,
00:25:28Gary Michael Cappetta.
00:25:29Ladies and gentlemen,
00:25:30the following contest
00:25:31on TBS.
00:25:32It is set for one fall
00:25:33with a 20 minute
00:25:34time limit.
00:25:35Introducing first
00:25:36from Nashville, Tennessee,
00:25:37Gary Michael Cappetta.
00:25:39Richard Morton,
00:25:40who has really made
00:25:41a tremendous reputation
00:25:42for himself
00:25:43in the sport
00:25:44as a tag team wrestler,
00:25:45four times
00:25:46world tag team champion,
00:25:47but he's a phenomenal
00:25:48one-on-one athlete
00:25:49as well.
00:25:50Proud to be a great
00:25:51tag team wrestler.
00:25:52You've got to
00:25:53give him
00:25:54a big round of applause.
00:25:55He's a great
00:25:56one-on-one athlete.
00:25:57He's a great
00:25:58one-on-one athlete.
00:25:59He's a great
00:26:00one-on-one athlete.
00:26:01He's a great
00:26:02one-on-one athlete.
00:26:03He's a great
00:26:04one-on-one athlete.
00:26:05He's a great
00:26:06one-on-one athlete.
00:26:07He's a great
00:26:08one-on-one athlete.
00:26:09He's a great
00:26:10one-on-one athlete.
00:26:11He's a great
00:26:12Tag Team wrestler.
00:26:13You've got
00:26:14to be tortured
00:26:15to great
00:26:16one-on-one
00:26:17Tag Team wrestlers.
00:26:18No question.
00:26:19Ladies and gentlemen,
00:26:20his opponent.
00:26:21He's from
00:26:22Macon, Georgia.
00:26:23He weighs 235 pounds
00:26:24and said he's the
00:26:25prettiest in World
00:26:26Championship wrestling,
00:26:27Johnny B. Max.
00:26:28Johnny B.
00:26:29Bnap weighing
00:26:30in at 235 and that
00:26:32is the maximum
00:26:33potential of
00:26:34what you can
00:26:35do.
00:26:36and that is the maximum an athlete can weigh
00:26:39to qualify to compete in the light heavyweight division
00:26:42in WCW.
00:26:46Test your color at home by that ring attire.
00:26:50Very flamboyant to say the least.
00:26:53There's only one man like Johnny B. Badd
00:26:55and he is letting the confetti rip to our fans
00:26:59along the walkway there.
00:27:02He has become a very popular competitor here in WCW.
00:27:10But his opponent Richard Morton is all business.
00:27:13As we glance up at Morton,
00:27:14he has got very much a game face on.
00:27:19That little lady wants to put a dollar
00:27:22in the garter of Johnny B. Badd.
00:27:24Oops, he dropped her dollar.
00:27:29Johnny B. Badd, who as an amateur boxer
00:27:32had a 58 and two record.
00:27:38And Morton getting very impatient.
00:27:40He knows this match has a direct bearing
00:27:45on the WCW light heavyweight rankings.
00:27:52Somebody's gonna take a shower here
00:27:53with some confetti and whatever, Jim.
00:27:55Look at this thing.
00:28:03I'm sorry, Jim, Nick Patrick doing a great job right now
00:28:06of staying between Morton and Johnny B. Badd
00:28:08because you're right, Richard wants to get right in there.
00:28:10But every time Morton would move towards Johnny B. Badd,
00:28:13Nick Patrick will be right there.
00:28:16And the bell sounds and now we are ready for action.
00:28:20Johnny B. Badd, we documented many times,
00:28:22he's got a tremendous left hook.
00:28:25But Morton is a phenomenal wrestler.
00:28:27And he's got a tremendous left hook.
00:28:29But Morton is a phenomenal wrestler.
00:28:32His father was a professional wrestling referee.
00:28:36Richard Morton, certainly around the sport
00:28:39all his life, literally.
00:28:42Good counter move to the head,
00:28:44serves both men up very quickly.
00:28:47And Morton wisely going to the ropes
00:28:50to avoid those left hands.
00:28:53He doesn't want to get into a boxing environment here
00:28:56with Johnny B. Badd.
00:28:58But he would love to get Johnny B. Badd rattled
00:28:59and he may be able to accomplish that.
00:29:01Richard Morton may be one of the smartest wrestlers
00:29:04ever in WCW.
00:29:05He's faced them all, Jim, flamboyant,
00:29:07big, small, it doesn't matter.
00:29:08And this is nothing new to him,
00:29:09this little parade that Johnny B. Badd
00:29:11had at the beginning.
00:29:14Johnny B. Badd, off the second turnbuckle,
00:29:19has a 23 pound weight advantage
00:29:22over Morton in this contest.
00:29:25And that may be a deciding factor
00:29:27unless Morton can somehow use his quickness
00:29:30and Matt Russell, the bigger man.
00:29:32Well, Richard Morton has had to do his entire career
00:29:34coming from beneath.
00:29:35Uh-oh, he's got him rolled up in a cradle
00:29:37and he got two and a half.
00:29:39And Morton up quickly, up quicker than Johnny B. Badd.
00:29:45Most men in this sport have been bigger
00:29:47than Richard Morton, but he's been a champion,
00:29:48as you said, for four straight times.
00:29:53Been a member of the Six Man Championship,
00:29:56World Tag Team Championship, so he knows the prestige
00:29:58and the income that goes along with being a champion.
00:30:00He wants to wrestle Jushin Thunder Liger
00:30:03for the Light Heavyweight title,
00:30:04but of course, that list is long,
00:30:07perhaps headed by Flyin' Brian.
00:30:09And right there, Morton taking Johnny B. Badd
00:30:12literally to the post, and it was the right move.
00:30:17I mean, when you're on TBS and the Clash of the Champions,
00:30:20and you're wrestling to try to get into that shot
00:30:23and to get a chance at Jushin Thunder Liger,
00:30:25you gotta take all the advantages you can, and he did.
00:30:29Johnny B. Badd up and over, sunset flip,
00:30:32and Morton able to kick out at two.
00:30:35Used his legs.
00:30:38Morton has a vast experience advantage in this contest.
00:30:42And he certainly told me before he went on the air,
00:30:45he was gonna try to cap flies on any air.
00:30:47There's another near fall,
00:30:49or a lateral press into a near fall situation.
00:30:53And now, a power slam.
00:30:57Johnny B. Badd executed it quite well,
00:30:59and this time, Morton able to kick out.
00:31:02Morton up the thumb to the eye.
00:31:05And now, Morton using his fist.
00:31:08Morton trying in this match not to let
00:31:10Johnny B. Badd get any confidence at all.
00:31:15Gonna get some of those blows, I can tell you that.
00:31:19Johnny B. Badd now
00:31:20has regained the advantage here, it would seem,
00:31:22but here comes Morton.
00:31:24Quickly, as we say that, Morton's right back on the attack.
00:31:27Morton really trying to keep Johnny B. Badd off balance.
00:31:32Doing a good job of it.
00:31:33Cross-body press, Johnny B. Badd rolls right through,
00:31:37and he got it!
00:31:3823-pound weight advantage proved a difference there.
00:31:41Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner,
00:31:44Johnny B. Badd!
00:31:47I tell you what, it was so close, Johnny.
00:31:49I tell you what, it was so close, Jim,
00:31:50and you're right, it was the weight advantage.
00:31:52I'm not so sure Morton might not have been
00:31:53in the ropes there, but in any event,
00:31:55it'll go down as a victory for Johnny B. Badd,
00:31:59and as we said, you've gotta think
00:32:00that the weight advantage was a deciding factor.
00:32:03Here it comes again, this time it was just momentum.
00:32:05Johnny, look at the feet.
00:32:07That was great wrestling right there by Johnny B. Badd.
00:32:09No, or was he under the ropes?
00:32:11He was not, and it was a good call and a good win.
00:32:13Fans, when we come back, Eric Bischoff and Missy Hyatt
00:32:15will have a very special interview
00:32:17as the Clash of the Champions continues.
00:32:19♪♪
00:32:29Welcome back to World Championship Wrestling's
00:32:32Clash of the Champions,
00:32:33live from the Kansas Expo Center in Topeka.
00:32:36And now, Eric Bischoff.
00:32:41Welcome back to the Clash of Champions on TBS.
00:32:44Eric Bischoff, along with Johnny B. Badd,
00:32:46who just before the break scored an impressive victory
00:32:49over Richard Morton and Flyin' Brian.
00:32:52And Flyin' Brian, we saw you in impressive six-man action
00:32:54a little earlier on.
00:32:56Not too long ago, we saw some footage
00:32:57featuring Jushin Thunder Liger in Tokyo, Japan.
00:33:04And certainly, given the amount of international prestige
00:33:06associated with that title,
00:33:08you've really gotta be focused on that rematch.
00:33:10Well, I'll tell you what, it goes much further than focus.
00:33:12In a very short time, Thunder Liger and myself
00:33:17have developed a very bitter rivalry.
00:33:19But it goes much deeper than arm drags and hip tosses for me.
00:33:23And I say that with the utmost respect
00:33:26for the Japanese people.
00:33:28But all I can remember, since I was this high,
00:33:30a little kid growing up,
00:33:32all I've watched, Japanese industries,
00:33:34buying up neighborhood communities,
00:33:36turn them into high-rise office towers.
00:33:39Seeing close friends of mine, former classmates,
00:33:42looking them in the eyes,
00:33:44seeing them despair.
00:33:46Because they've lost their jobs at the auto plant
00:33:49thanks to a rebate, courtesy of a Japanese automaker.
00:33:53Well, I can assure you of one thing,
00:33:56Thunder Liger, there's one thing I'm not gonna watch,
00:33:59and that's you take that belt back to Japan.
00:34:03Because January 29th, 1992, Super Bowl,
00:34:08I'm bringing that belt back where it belongs,
00:34:11to the United States of America!
00:34:14Yeah!
00:34:19Kiss that!
00:34:27Let's get back down to the ring.
00:34:33Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest
00:34:35on the Clash of the Champions.
00:34:38It is set for one fall, with a 15-minute time limit.
00:34:43Introducing first, from the Diamond Mines,
00:34:47weighing 258 pounds,
00:34:51Diamond Dallas Page!
00:34:55Well, some fireworks there with our colleague Eric Bischoff.
00:34:58Brian Bryan desperately wants that rematch.
00:35:00It has yet to be signed.
00:35:02Johnny B. Badd obviously thinks that he would love
00:35:05to have the opportunity as well,
00:35:07but he didn't get a chance to verbally express himself.
00:35:10Well, two contrasting styles there.
00:35:12Johnny B. Badd thinks he's gonna get the title shot.
00:35:15Brian Bryan wants it, so does Richard Morton.
00:35:17We'll find out.
00:35:19And ladies and gentlemen, his opponent,
00:35:22from Motown, weighing 403 pounds,
00:35:28the Wreckmaster,
00:35:29P.N. News!
00:35:32P.N. News, the WCW Magazine Rookie of the Year.
00:35:37And the new edition of the WCW Magazine,
00:35:39with the world's champion, Lex Luger, on the cover,
00:35:42is now on sale at newsstands nationwide.
00:35:48It's the first Clash in 92,
00:35:52and have I got a surprise for you!
00:35:57Come on, Page, let's see what you've got!
00:36:00I know you'll fight fair!
00:36:04Not!
00:36:07Yo, baby, yo, baby, yo!
00:36:09Yo, baby, yo, baby, yo!
00:36:12And he didn't get his yo babies out
00:36:14before Diamond Dallas Page took over.
00:36:16Fans, while we have a moment,
00:36:18the Wrestling Hotline poll question of the night.
00:36:21You can vote yes or no by calling 1-900-909-9900.
00:36:26Should Paul E. Dangerously be allowed at ringside
00:36:29for ravishing Rick Rude's U.S. title defenses?
00:36:32If you'd like to participate and vote yes or no,
00:36:35call the Wrestling Hotline.
00:36:37Should Paul E. be allowed at ringside
00:36:39for Rude's U.S. title defenses?
00:36:41You can cast your vote right now,
00:36:43and we'll try to have the results tabulated
00:36:45before we go off the air.
00:36:47There had been much speculation one time
00:36:49whether Diamond Dallas Page should be allowed at ringside
00:36:51when he was the manager.
00:36:52So he took matters into his own hands
00:36:54and became a wrestler.
00:36:55And he's been very, very effective, Jim,
00:36:57in his brief career in the ring.
00:36:59For Diamond Dallas to be effective here,
00:37:01he's gotta try to get this huge 403 1⁄2 pounder
00:37:04off his feet, and thus far,
00:37:06that game plan has not materialized,
00:37:08as P.E. in News rolls that 400 plus over DDP twice.
00:37:15Page, very intelligent and very calculated,
00:37:18but he's gotta be given the opportunity
00:37:20to execute his game plan,
00:37:22and thus far, the big man from Motown
00:37:24is not giving him any, as a Gordon Sully-ism, any surcease.
00:37:29What he needs to do is roll out of the ring right now.
00:37:32Now, I think he was trying to at least roll out of the way,
00:37:35get away from P.E. in News,
00:37:36buy himself some time on the outside.
00:37:38We're crying out loud.
00:37:39Fans, we told you about some big surprises
00:37:41and major announcements in this broadcast,
00:37:44and we'll have them, some of them, in our next segment.
00:37:49Be sure and stay tuned for that.
00:37:51Good move by Diamond Dallas Page.
00:37:53He may have the big man here.
00:37:54Good two count there.
00:37:57Page with that power elbow.
00:37:59Again, on the chest of P.E. in News,
00:38:03making a trifecta there.
00:38:06Great series of moves by DDP.
00:38:08He's not letting the big man get up.
00:38:10Neutralize the weight, keep him off his feet.
00:38:14Page, perhaps, wanting to rewrite the lyrics
00:38:16into, go baby, go baby, go.
00:38:18Good side Russian leg sweep by Diamond Dallas Page,
00:38:22who has turned the momentum now into his corner.
00:38:27And he's doing everything he can
00:38:28to keep the big man from getting up.
00:38:31Now he's gonna try to bring him down again.
00:38:33Oh my, oh, too much weight.
00:38:36P.E. in News at 400 plus.
00:38:40He's at least 403.
00:38:42Yeah, at least.
00:38:43We said he was 403 when he first came into WCW, Jim.
00:38:45I think it's changed since then.
00:38:48Diamond Dallas Page taking a chance.
00:38:50Take him.
00:38:53News is next.
00:38:55News is neck and snapping it off the top rope.
00:39:01Now, but you can tell he's still feeling the effects
00:39:03of all that weight being splashed on him early on.
00:39:07Crossbody over the top and a near fall.
00:39:09He almost had it.
00:39:10Closest one yet.
00:39:12P.E. in News, basically a one-dimensional athlete.
00:39:17He's a power wrestler.
00:39:18And at 403, why not?
00:39:21Uh-oh, he slowed it down.
00:39:24Bella DiBelle suplex, Page got caught
00:39:27in a position he did not want to be in.
00:39:29And now P.E. in News climbing the ladder right above us.
00:39:33The Rap Master Splash shakes the rafters
00:39:36in the Kansas Expo Center.
00:39:38And that is all.
00:39:39Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner,
00:39:42the Rap Master, P.E. in News.
00:39:45P.E. in News executed the Rap Master Splash
00:39:48to perfection here.
00:39:50One fatal mistake by Diamond Dallas Page
00:39:53proved to be the difference.
00:39:55At this point, DDP was very, very frustrated.
00:39:58He thought he had the three count.
00:39:59It came very close to doing so.
00:40:01But when P.E. in got up top, Jim, right above us,
00:40:03I was glad he fell that way.
00:40:05But Diamond Dallas Page was not.
00:40:07And a great win here on TBS for the Rap Master.
00:40:09And the winner is P.E. in News.
00:40:12And a great win here on TBS for the Rap Master.
00:40:15Fans, when we come back, Tony Schiavone
00:40:16has some very special guests.
00:40:18But now, here's this week's WCW Top 10.

00:40:50Ricky the dragon steamboat checks in at number four.
00:40:53The number three man, the world television champion,
00:40:56stunning Steve Austin.
00:40:58One notch above him in at number two.
00:41:00From Venice Beach, The Stinger.
00:41:02The U.S. heavyweight champion,
00:41:03ravishing Rick Rude is the number one ranked contender.
00:41:07And the world heavyweight champion,
00:41:08the total package Lex Luger.
00:41:10And that's the top 10.
00:41:11♪♪
00:41:32Welcome back to TBS and the Clash of Champions.
00:41:35We're coming to you live from the
00:41:37Kansas Expo Center here in Topeka.
00:41:41And you know fans, I said during our last
00:41:42pay-per-view of 1991's Starcade,
00:41:44that 1992 would be WCW's biggest year ever.
00:41:49We have some very important announcements for you.
00:41:51First of all, I'd like to introduce
00:41:53all the great fans here in Topeka
00:41:54and all of our fans nationwide.
00:41:56The new man in charge of WCW,
00:41:59our new executive vice president.

00:42:03Mr. Frye, great working with you here in 1992.
00:42:06Thanks very much, Tony.
00:42:07It's great to see you and great to be a part
00:42:10of World Championship Wrestling.
00:42:12You know, 1992 is going to be a year
00:42:13full of surprises for us.
00:42:15And I have the first surprise right here.
00:42:18This is the contract for the next
00:42:19world heavyweight title match.
00:42:22It's going to be February 29th,
00:42:24Super Brawl II, only on pay-per-view.
00:42:27And the signature on this contract, Tony,
00:42:30is none other than the total package,
00:42:33Lex Luger, the world heavyweight champion.
00:42:35I tell you what, world title match during Super Brawl,
00:42:38it is going to be tremendous.
00:42:40And that's not all, Tony, we've got more.
00:42:42Because with an event of this magnitude,
00:42:45I knew I had to go out and find the one person,
00:42:47the one personality, who would do this event justice.
00:42:51And I found him, he's here tonight.
00:42:53That person is his honor, the man who tells it like it is,
00:42:58Jesse, the Body Ventura.
00:43:32Tell you what, Jesse, great having you with us here at WCW.
00:43:36Well, let me tell you what, Tony Schiavone,
00:43:38it's been a year and a half.
00:43:40And I am pumped up, because as far as I'm concerned,
00:43:43WCW is the wrestling of the future.
00:43:46And Jesse, the Body, Jesse, the Body,
00:43:49the man who tells it like it is,
00:43:51will be the man at Super Brawl to broadcast it
00:43:55from start to finish.
00:43:57I'm pumped up, I've been out of wrestling far too long,
00:44:01and I'm back where I belong.
00:44:03Tony, thank you, Jesse.
00:44:07Tony, you take it over from here for the introduction.
00:44:10Okay, Mr. Fry, the main event,
00:44:12World Heavyweight Title coming up at Super Brawl,
00:44:15Saturday, February 29th.
00:44:16Lex Luger, the champion,
00:44:18will defend against this man right here.
00:44:19Let's welcome Steve!
00:44:21Steve!
00:44:22Yeah!
00:44:23Okay.
00:44:33It will be Sting and Lex Luger for the WCW World Heavyweight Title.
00:45:00Mr. Fry has the contract.
00:45:01I know you're anxious to sign the contract, but before you sign this contract, we have
00:45:05the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Lex Luger, standing by with some comments for you.
00:45:10Let's go to Lex Luger at this time.
00:45:13You know, a lot's been said about the seclusion of Lex Luger as of late.
00:45:20I call it the champion's prerogative.
00:45:23I call it preparation.
00:45:26Both mentally, I'm getting in tune for the biggest event, the biggest match of my career,
00:45:32like I never have before.
00:45:34It's called concentration.
00:45:35It's called focusing on one thing and one thing only, and that's victory.
00:45:41Physically, I am in the finest condition of my life.
00:45:45My training regimen has never been more severe.
00:45:49I am totally and absolutely prepared like I never have before in my lifetime for this
00:45:56match coming up.
00:45:58A lot's been said about friendship.
00:46:01Friendship is put aside when you step through those ropes and the bell sounds.
00:46:06It's all business, and Lex Luger takes care of business.
00:46:09That's why I'm the world's heavyweight champion.
00:46:13That's why when it's all written.
00:46:16The storybook career of a Total Package Lex Luger, I just don't want to be the greatest
00:46:21wrestling champion of all time.
00:46:23I want to be known as the greatest athlete of all time.
00:46:27So when it's all said and done, Sting, after that match, you will just be another chapter
00:46:33in the storybook career of the greatest wrestler and the greatest athlete who ever lived, the
00:46:39Total Package Lex Luger.
00:46:42Okay, there it is.
00:46:43The comments from the heavyweight champion of the world, Lex Luger, Sting, and now it's
00:46:47time for you to make that signing in preparation for this big matchup.
00:46:59I wish I could grab him right out of the screen now and do it right now.
00:47:04All right, there he is, the Stinger and Jeff Lee, Super Pro Luger and Sting for the world
00:47:08title.
00:47:09Well, I love it.
00:47:10I came back here because this is what I said, the wrestling of the future.
00:47:14You got Sting, you got the Total Package Lex Luger, the champion, and you got Jesse, the
00:47:20Body Ventura, who will be there from start to finish to broadcast this match.
00:47:26I'm fired up.
00:47:27WCW all the way.
00:47:29Jesse, the Body Ventura, Sting, and the Total Package, February the 29th, Super Brawl.
00:47:37Be there.
00:47:38We'll be back after this word.
00:47:40Yeah.
00:48:00Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest, it is set for one fall.
00:48:06The special stipulation falls can count anywhere.
00:48:11Introducing first, from Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, he weighs 297 pounds, Cactus Jack.
00:48:23Fans, while Cactus Jack makes his way to the ring, I'd like to remind you all that tickets
00:48:27for Super Brawl II go on sale this Monday, January 27th at the Mecca box office.
00:48:33And all Ticketmaster outlets in Milwaukee, you can charge by phone beginning at 10 o'clock
00:48:38Central time with a Visa or MasterCard by calling 414-276-4545.
00:48:45That's this Monday.
00:48:47That number will be effective this Monday beginning at 10 o'clock Central, 11 o'clock
00:48:52Eastern time.
00:48:53Get your tickets early for that big, big pay-per-view event.
00:48:57Sting and Luger headlining for the world's heavyweight title.
00:49:04And ladies and gentlemen, his opponent in this Falls Count Anywhere match.
00:49:10He's from New York City.
00:49:12He weighs 290 pounds.
00:49:15Heavy metal, Ben Hammer.
00:49:22These two men have had a bitter feud in WCW and the very interesting stipulation that
00:49:27falls count anywhere in the building, out of the building, or anywhere in the state
00:49:32of Kansas.
00:49:35I tell you, for heavy metal man Hammer to agree to this match, to me, I don't know.
00:49:41I think you're really playing into the hands of Cactus Jack.
00:49:44Because if you go outside, he can use a chair or a ring post.
00:49:48And they're not going to wait.
00:49:49Cactus Jack's going to meet him here.
00:49:53Well, that time, some pitch flew out of the end of his guitar, and he nailed Cactus Jack
00:49:58right in the eyes with him.
00:50:00This is right down Cactus Alley.
00:50:02Hammer, crossbody over the top.
00:50:04One, two, in the ring.
00:50:06I've got to think that Hammer has the advantage.
00:50:08But out of the ring, this is Cactus Jack's domain.
00:50:12Hammer trying to end it early here in this contest.
00:50:18Cactus Jack, ranked number six in the WCW top ten.
00:50:22And it's Hammer with a leg drop right in the back of the head.
00:50:25Going for the cover here.
00:50:27297-pounder from Truth or Consequences, able to kick out.
00:50:32Jim, you're right.
00:50:33You said that Cactus...
00:50:34Oh, my.
00:50:37High-risk maneuver.
00:50:38You can't do it too many times against Cactus Jack.
00:50:40Cactus going for the cover here, and he got two.
00:50:44He said that Hammer's going to try to end this one early,
00:50:46and that's exactly what he was trying to do.
00:50:48But no, Cactus Jack is real back into this one.
00:50:51Cactus with a clothesline.
00:50:53They both go up and over and disappear.
00:50:56All the way to the floor.
00:50:59And remember, the falls count anywhere.
00:51:03Literally anywhere.
00:51:06Senior referee Nick Patrick has signed this contest.
00:51:12Cactus Jack with a very evil gleam in his eye earlier today
00:51:16when I attempted to converse with him about this matchup.
00:51:19He's moving the mats, those thin mats.
00:51:24And so it has exposed the concrete floor here.
00:51:33Charlie Manson's favorite wrestler, Cactus Jack.
00:51:38A double handful of hair.
00:51:40Picking Hammer face-first to the concrete.
00:51:44Uh-oh.
00:51:45You can see this one coming, Jim.
00:51:47He's up on that second turnbuckle.
00:51:51Taking a chance here.
00:51:52Hammer making his way up to his feet.
00:51:54But Cactus with a sunset flip finally got him over.
00:52:00Wow.
00:52:01He hurt himself.
00:52:02He landed on the concrete.
00:52:03I think so.
00:52:04I think the man that got the brunt of that was Cactus Jack.
00:52:06He's the one getting up slower.
00:52:08Goodness.
00:52:09I can't imagine this match going very long.
00:52:13They're putting their bodies obviously on the line.
00:52:20No regard for their own welfare.
00:52:23Cactus with a side headlock bringing Hammer up the stairs,
00:52:26up on the rampway now.
00:52:30Has a sleeper hold on heavy metal.
00:52:33And Hammer able to drive his head up into the face of Cactus Jack.
00:52:40Hammer with a right hand.
00:52:43Irish whip.
00:52:44And oh, my God.
00:52:46A power slam on the ramp.
00:52:48And he got it.
00:52:49No, he did not have it.
00:52:50I thought he had it right there.
00:52:52Yeah, and so did Van Hammer.
00:52:53Van Hammer needs now to get the man back in the ring
00:52:56and stay away from the ramp, stay away from the floor,
00:52:59and stay in the ring.
00:53:01Clothesline on that ramp.
00:53:04Cactus Jack has got to be hurting.
00:53:06And Hammer, too, for that matter.
00:53:09And these type matches take a tremendous amount out of an individual.
00:53:14Right hand by Hammer.
00:53:15Another right hand finds his mark.
00:53:17Cactus wrecked the eyes.
00:53:18He has control now.
00:53:24Cactus with that face lock.
00:53:25Hammer inside cradle out here on the ramp.
00:53:28And he got another near fall.
00:53:30Several near falls, only two in the ring thus far in the contest.
00:53:35Most near falls, too, by Van Hammer have been off of wrestling moves.
00:53:40And how do you execute a wrestling move in a match like this?
00:53:43It's very difficult to.
00:53:46These men risking tremendous injury in this type of event.
00:53:50Oh, no.
00:53:52Cactus trying to throw Hammer off the ramp.
00:53:54Three or four feet down to the concrete.
00:53:58Maybe farther.
00:53:59And Cactus.
00:54:00Oh, my.
00:54:02What a splat.
00:54:03The human anatomy meeting the concrete.
00:54:06And Cactus Jack may never be the same.
00:54:09He is having trouble getting up.
00:54:14Hammer with a close eye off the ramp into the concrete.
00:54:19Going for another cover here.
00:54:23Referee Nick Patrick got a two count out of it.
00:54:32We're going to keep our cameras with us as best we can.
00:54:37Any move such as that attempted atomic drop that time even met with more force
00:54:42because there's no give obviously on a concrete floor.
00:54:48They're locking it up.
00:54:50Fans are fighting.
00:54:51We need to get a camera back there.
00:54:53We're going to take a real quick break until we get a camera back there,
00:54:56and we'll be back in a moment.
00:55:04As you can see, ladies and gentlemen, you're looking live out in the back
00:55:07of the Kansas Expo Center.
00:55:09That's where this battle has gone.
00:55:11Cactus Jack was rammed through that barricade moments ago,
00:55:15and now he's got that big two by four right in the face of Heavy Metal Van Hammer.
00:55:22This fight all the way out in the back.
00:55:26Wow, this is nuts.
00:55:28I think Missy Hyatt's out there also to try to help us out in covering this.
00:55:32There's a bunch of bulls for a big rodeo they're going to have here
00:55:36and those holding pins over there.
00:55:39Look at these guys go.
00:55:40Can the referee do something?
00:55:42Come on, Nick.
00:55:44That's Missy Hyatt trying to go where the action is, but there you see Hammer.
00:55:53Hammer may be bleeding from under the arm in the rib cage.
00:55:59You know, this is Cactus Jack's domain.
00:56:00Anytime he can use an object, and there's a lot of objects out there to use.
00:56:03There's Missy.
00:56:05She's not going to get too close to that, I can tell you that.
00:56:08Hammer's got a rope now around Cactus's neck.
00:56:13Trying to hang him, and Cactus is going over those holding pins.
00:56:20Tell you what, a lot of abrasions you can see from that asphalt on the outside.
00:56:25They're rodeo animals.
00:56:27Horses and bulls.
00:56:30Now they're over in the holding pin where the bull-
00:56:35Wait a minute, that big cowboy there is Abdullah the Butcher.
00:56:40Hammer, and now Abdullah out in that arena area.
00:56:47He hit him with a shovel.
00:56:49I think he meant it for Cactus.
00:56:51Cactus Jack was the object of that shovel.
00:56:55Hammer got it, and Cactus pins him in the rodeo arena.
00:56:59Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of the match is Cactus Jack.
00:57:05Well, Cactus Jack is the winner of this match.
00:57:07And Abdullah the Butcher, I don't know where they're going or what they're doing.
00:57:11Oh my gosh.
00:57:12Abdullah and Cactus, oh my gosh.
00:57:15Abdullah and Cactus Jack now.
00:57:18That shovel shot was meant for Cactus because these two men form our partners.
00:57:23And now he sticks his head into that watering trough.
00:57:26It's cold outside here in Topeka.
00:57:31Abdullah now and Cactus with Missy Hyatt.
00:57:35Right in the thick of things.
00:57:37Abdullah's got Missy.
00:57:39And Abdullah's got Missy by the waist.
00:57:42And he throws Missy into the- Oh my.
00:57:46Incredible, Jim.
00:57:48Missy Hyatt thrown into the watering trough.
00:57:52She's going to freeze out there.
00:57:54Cactus and Abdullah continue to fight.
00:57:58These two men will meet in the Omni on Sunday, February the 9th.
00:58:03Fans, let's get this back together.
00:58:05We'll be back with the new Freebirds in a moment.
00:58:08Hey, James.
00:58:09Hey, James.
00:58:25And I tell you, we talk so much about great tag teams in WCW
00:58:28and certainly we all think of the Snyders.
00:58:30But you know, the past 12 months have been good to the Freebirds too.
00:58:33World Tag Team, U.S. Tag Team Champions,
00:58:35and members of the Six-Man Tag Team Champions.
00:58:38Not many teams in this sport can say that.
00:58:41Great accomplishments for a 12-month period.
00:58:43No doubt about it as Hayes starts out with Brad Armstrong,
00:58:46another of the great light heavyweights.
00:58:49Good move there by Armstrong.
00:58:52He's so quick.
00:58:53Armstrong, a second-generation wrestler.
00:58:56Father Bullet Bob Armstrong,
00:58:59tremendous competitor in the southeastern part of the United States
00:59:02for many years.
00:59:05Hayes up and over.
00:59:07Good agility by the veteran Michael P.S. Hayes now.
00:59:10Trying to roll up Brad Armstrong.
00:59:12Could not execute the pin and didn't make the exchange with Garvin
00:59:16who comes in with a lot of velocity in that clothesline.
00:59:19We have seen some incredible things right here on the Clash of the Champions
00:59:22in the last couple of minutes.
00:59:23Of course, the big announcement of the main event of Super Brawl
00:59:26and of Jesse, the body mentor, joining us at our broadcast team.
00:59:30And then we saw the most unusual situation outside.
00:59:33And now the Freebirds singing as they come in.
00:59:36What else is next?
00:59:37Watch out here.
00:59:38Crossbody, and Garvin got a near fallout of the situation.
00:59:42You know, the original Freebirds were formed in 1978.
00:59:45First team to really use a lot of music in their ring entrances.
00:59:49You wonder where that came from.
00:59:51And Big Josh, 270-pound powerhouse from the Pacific Northwest up in Oregon.
00:59:59And he calls that his long roll.
01:00:03Big Josh arrived on the scene, Jim, just about a year ago.
01:00:06And what a name he's made for himself in a short period of time.
01:00:09I talked to the Freebirds this past Sunday on my radio program
01:00:13on News Talk Radio AM 750 WSB in Atlanta.
01:00:17They hinted about this change in ring attire,
01:00:20but they were very silent on their ring strategy.
01:00:25But thus far, it's been a great scientific event.
01:00:27And that's how they've wrestled in the past several months.
01:00:31Sunset flip.
01:00:32Big Josh in a near fall situation.
01:00:34Arm drag takeover takes Hayes down.
01:00:36Well, it may be scientific now, but I know Michael Hayes and Jimmy Jam quite well.
01:00:41And they certainly will turn this thing around
01:00:44and change strategy at a moment's notice.
01:00:48Hayes and Garvin make the exchange.
01:00:52Garvin reversed, though.
01:00:53The Irish whip right above us here.
01:00:55Big Josh with those clubbing forearms.
01:01:01And he hammers away at Jimmy Jam Garvin.
01:01:06Garvin with a foot right to the midsection.
01:01:10Another Irish whip.
01:01:12Oh.
01:01:13And Big Josh and Garvin's heads may have cracked together.
01:01:17Garvin had enough left to tag in Hayes.
01:01:20And here comes the lightning quick Brad Armstrong,
01:01:22who will soon be returning to Japan to challenge Jushin Liger
01:01:25for the light heavyweight title.
01:01:28Great extension of the legs and the dropkick.
01:01:30And another on Jimmy Jam Garvin.
01:01:32Quite possibly the greatest dropkick in WCW with Brad Armstrong.
01:01:35No question about it.
01:01:39Garvin tossed outside by Garvin and Hayes.
01:01:42And Big Josh meets them both with a double clothesline.
01:01:47Armstrong up on top.
01:01:49He comes down on Hayes.
01:01:51Big Josh being put out.
01:01:54Trying to go for a suplex.
01:01:55And Garvin with a cheap shot.
01:01:57And the Byrds with a double DDT.
01:02:00They double teamed illegally.
01:02:02Armstrong and the DDT wins it.
01:02:06Ladies and gentlemen, here are your winners, the fabulous Freebirds.
01:02:15Garvin and Hayes with new ring attire.
01:02:19But perhaps the old Freebirds and the double team tactics.
01:02:22Both men executing the DDT.
01:02:25You talked about them executing quite well wrestling maneuvers.
01:02:28But then the double DDT and illegal advantage turned into a pin.
01:02:32Welcome back to the Clash of Champions.
01:02:50And wrestling fans, the Steiner Brothers have made their mark on world championship wrestling
01:02:55as one of the toughest, most technically gifted combinations in WCW history.
01:03:00Now before we bring Rick and Scott out,
01:03:02let's take a look at some footage of these two exceptional athletes.
01:03:09In the hard-hitting world of WCW,
01:03:12no tag team commands the respect that has been earned by the awesome Steiner Brothers.
01:03:17Rick and Scott have dominated all competition from their high school all-state days in Bay City, Michigan,
01:03:22through their successful amateur career at the University of Michigan.
01:03:26Professionally, this incomparable combination has worn every major tag team belt
01:03:31by defeating wrestling's best teams.
01:03:33Their list of beaten opponents include the Rogue Warriors.
01:03:37Jim, I don't believe it.
01:03:39That's the first time that I have ever seen the Rogue Warriors pin.
01:03:43The Samoan Swat Team.
01:03:46There it is.
01:03:47Rick and Steiner.
01:03:49The Nasty Boys.
01:03:52They're standing.
01:03:55Rick and Steiner.
01:03:56He got him with a Rick and Steiner.
01:03:58One, two, three.
01:03:59The Steiner Brothers.
01:04:01Mr. Saito and the Great Mura for the Battle Conner Memorial Tag Team Tournament Championship.
01:04:07Hase and Sasaki for the IWGP Championship.
01:04:11And Hase and Chono from Japan.
01:04:13It was after this match that Scott's massive bicep was torn and had to be surgically reattached.
01:04:23Rick carried on alone and challenged Lex Luger for the World Heavyweight Title
01:04:28after an unwarranted altercation backfired on the champion.
01:04:31With Scott at ringside, Rick came within seconds of the World Championship.
01:04:36But now, with both brothers healthy,
01:04:39Rick and Scott are focused on wrestling's most coveted tag team title,
01:04:43the WCW World Tag Team Championship.
01:04:47The Brothers.
01:04:52The WCW World Tag Team Championship.
01:04:57Impressive indeed.
01:04:59Hello, everybody.
01:05:00I'm joined now by Rick and Scott Steiner.
01:05:03You're looking at a team here that started wrestling at the age of 14 years old.
01:05:07And you two really got the taste of championships early.
01:05:09State high school champions.
01:05:11Two times All-American at Michigan.
01:05:13And you're the only tag team in history to ever hold the WCW US Tag Team titles,
01:05:19the IWGP titles, and the WCW World Tag Team titles.
01:05:23Now that you're back together again, the bicep is healed.
01:05:26You've got to be looking at those WCW World Tag Team titles.
01:05:29Well, you see, Eric, it goes like this.
01:05:32Someone came into my brother's house and stole something very precious,
01:05:37very something that meant very much to us.
01:05:40Some people would go to the police and get law and order.
01:05:43Me and my brother have our own way to take care of justice.
01:05:47You guys took something from us.
01:05:50Nobody ever beat us for them.
01:05:52And we're coming after you two, Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton.
01:05:56How about it, Scott?
01:05:57You know, Eric Bischoff, they say patience is a virtue.
01:06:01Well, me and my brother are not patient anymore.
01:06:04We're ready to come back and reclaim something we never lost.
01:06:08Beautiful Bobby, Arn Anderson, put your name on the down line,
01:06:12and we'll prove to you who's the best tag team in wrestling.
01:06:16And just like Alice Cooper used to sing about,
01:06:20that is now our motto.
01:06:22When we step in the ring, it's no more Mr. Nice Guy.
01:06:26We're coming at you with bad intentions.
01:06:30You heard it from the Steiner Brothers.
01:06:33Fans, we'll be back with more action from the Clash of Champions
01:06:36right after this break.
01:06:39Welcome back to World Championship Wrestling's
01:06:41Clash of the Champions, where the evil power of the Dangerous Alliance
01:06:44will be tested by the best and the brightest of WCW
01:06:48in two titanic tag team match-ups.
01:06:51But first, let's get to it.
01:06:54Welcome back to World Championship Wrestling's
01:06:56Clash of the Champions, where the evil power of the Dangerous Alliance
01:06:59will be tested by the best and the brightest of WCW
01:07:02in two titanic tag team match-ups.
01:07:05But first, our re-announcer, Gary Michael Cappetta.
01:07:09Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest
01:07:11on the Clash of the Champions.
01:07:13It is set for one fall with a 15-minute time limit.
01:07:18Introducing first, from Atlanta, Georgia,
01:07:22he weighs 239 pounds,
01:07:26ladies and gentlemen, Thomas Rich.
01:07:30Thomas Rich, formerly of the York Foundation,
01:07:33world champion in 1981, a rugged veteran.
01:07:37But Tony, you talked to his opponent,
01:07:39who seems to be perhaps even more rugged
01:07:41and more nasty than Rich.
01:07:43He's very big, and it's going to be his first appearance
01:07:45ever in WCW, and I'm surprised by the confidence
01:07:49exhibited by his opponent.
01:07:55And ladies and gentlemen, his opponent.
01:07:59He is from Nevada.
01:08:01He weighs 300 pounds,
01:08:05Benny Vegas.
01:08:09300 pounds from Nevada,
01:08:12a high roller indeed.
01:08:16I understand you talked with him a little bit
01:08:18about some of his favorite offensive maneuvers
01:08:21and what's something called a snake-eyes.
01:08:25Got my curiosity around.
01:08:27Well, he says his favorite maneuver
01:08:29is what is called snake-eyes.
01:08:32And I asked him to explain what snake-eyes was,
01:08:35and he said, hey, like, just wait and see, okay?
01:08:38So, who am I talking to?
01:08:41Hey, like, just wait and see, okay?
01:08:43So, who am I to talk to a 7-foot guy
01:08:46and try to prod him into telling me what's going on?
01:08:50Got a lot of charisma, doesn't he, Jim?
01:08:52Very brash man.
01:08:54Oh, yeah?
01:08:56Tommy, Tommy.
01:08:58Tommy, come here.
01:09:00Tommy, come here.
01:09:02What's he want Tommy for?
01:09:04Tommy, come here.
01:09:06This guy over here.
01:09:09What you got to say now, huh?
01:09:11What you got to say now?
01:09:13Well, Thomas Rich should have known better.
01:09:16The veteran from Atlanta,
01:09:18where WCW returns on Sunday, February the 9th.
01:09:22Benny Vegas was taunting the fans,
01:09:24and you're right,
01:09:26Benny looks like a maître d' from the Riviera.
01:09:29Ha, ha, ha.
01:09:33Or a bouncer. I tell you what, he's a big one.
01:09:39Started off very dubiously against Rich.
01:09:44And short clothesline there,
01:09:46putting Thomas Rich on his back.
01:09:49Eric Bischoff's going to be talking to Paulie Dangerously
01:09:53a little bit later in the broadcast.
01:09:55And wait just a minute.
01:09:56This may be it, Jim.
01:09:58Well, he's...
01:09:59Could this be the snake eyes,
01:10:01the roll of the dice here?
01:10:03Oh, my gosh!
01:10:06He dropped Rich right across the top turnbuckle
01:10:10from seven feet, and that's all.
01:10:12Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner,
01:10:15Benny Vegas!
01:10:18Who's that against Benny Vegas, baby?
01:10:24Certainly doesn't have any lack of confidence.
01:10:27You talked about him being very brash.
01:10:29He kind of rolled the dice that time.
01:10:32You could see it with the left hand.
01:10:34The move he calls snake eyes.
01:10:36And I mean, Rich hit hard on that top turnbuckle.
01:10:38And what a debut.
01:10:39Very impressive for this big guy
01:10:41we're going to be hearing a lot more about in WCW, Jim.
01:10:44Fans, Eric Bischoff is standing by
01:10:46with a man that has a tremendous amount to gain tonight.
01:10:48Eric, we don't look forward to this
01:10:51as far as you're concerned. Here you are.
01:10:53All right, thank you, Jim Ross.
01:10:55Excuse me, Paulie Dangerously.
01:10:58Coming up in just a few moments,
01:11:00six-man tag action.
01:11:02Beautiful Bobby, Art Anderson, and Larry Zabiska
01:11:05to face The Natural, Dustin Rhodes,
01:11:08Ron Simmons, and Barry Whittem.
01:11:09And then the match that everybody's waiting for,
01:11:11the tag team action.
01:11:12As stunning Steve Austin and ravishing Rick Rude
01:11:15face Sting and Ricky the Dragon,
01:11:17Steve, you've got a lot to lose.
01:11:19Every single prediction that I have made
01:11:22since I returned on October 27th
01:11:25has come true.
01:11:27Changes on the board of directors,
01:11:29the demise of Sting,
01:11:31the loss of the world tag team titles
01:11:34to Anderson and Eaton.
01:11:35Tonight, yet another prediction of Paulie Dangerously's
01:11:39will come true.
01:11:41I am promising you right here on national TV tonight,
01:11:45one of your top five heroes
01:11:47is out, finished for good.
01:11:50Injured main cripple.
01:11:52Will it be Barry Whittem with the crunched hand
01:11:56who couldn't hold up his end of another organization?
01:11:59Will it be Dustin The Natural Rhodes,
01:12:02son of a putrid plumber,
01:12:04horse thief from Austin, Texas,
01:12:06the American dream, Dustin Rhodes?
01:12:08And speaking of dreams,
01:12:10will it be Ron Simmons the day after
01:12:12a glorious national holiday
01:12:14that sees all his dreams crushed
01:12:17and ends up right back in the ghetto?
01:12:20What happens if Ricky the Dragon Steamboat
01:12:23goes home and causes his little son
01:12:26psychological damage
01:12:28because the little boy has to watch daddy
01:12:31suffer permanent disfigurement
01:12:33at the hands of the Dangerous Alliance?
01:12:36Or will tonight be the night that we put
01:12:38the final nail in Sting's coffin?
01:12:41Win, lose, or draw.
01:12:45Tonight, the Dangerous Alliance
01:12:49promises you one thing.
01:12:52One or more of your top heroes
01:12:55will wind up in the Magnum TA
01:12:58Wrestling Retirement Home.
01:13:01Now, you want to guess who it is?
01:13:03You got two matches left.
01:13:05I give you one clue.
01:13:07He'll never wrestle here again.
01:13:10Fans, stay with us.
01:13:11The Clash of Champions continues
01:13:13after this time out.
01:13:16♪♪
01:13:29Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest
01:13:31on The Clash of the Champions.
01:13:34Six-man tag team action.
01:13:37Set for one fall with a 30-minute time limit.
01:13:40Introducing team number one,
01:13:43all members of the Dangerous Alliance.
01:13:47Introducing first,
01:13:49the newly crowned World Tag Team Champions.
01:13:52They won them just days ago in Jacksonville, Florida.
01:13:56First, from Minnesota, weighing 260 pounds,
01:14:01Arne Anderson.
01:14:05From Huntsville, Alabama, 238 pounds,
01:14:09beautiful Bobby.
01:14:14And their partner from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
01:14:17245 pounds, Larry, the Quencher, Zabisco.
01:14:23And they are accompanied by the chief executive officer
01:14:26of the Dangerous Alliance, Paul E. Dangerously.
01:14:35What a six-man this should be.
01:14:37Back up to Gary Capana.
01:14:39And ladies and gentlemen, their opponents.
01:14:42Introducing first, from Austin, Texas,
01:14:45weighing 260 pounds,
01:14:48the natural Dustin Rhodes.
01:14:54His partner from Warner Robins, Georgia,
01:14:57275 pounds, the All-American, Ron Simmons.
01:15:06And their partner from Sweetwater, Texas,
01:15:09278 pounds, Barry Windham.
01:15:14And Windham with that hand heavily taped.
01:15:16And, man, he means business.
01:15:18That wild-eyed look from that tall Texan from Sweetwater.
01:15:21And he is a deranged human being.
01:15:24He has one hell of a score to settle
01:15:26with the Dangerous Alliance,
01:15:28especially Larry, the Quencher, Zabisco.
01:15:30I tell you, you can see it, Jim,
01:15:32of the three men coming up the aisle towards the ring.
01:15:35It was Barry Windham who was more focused.
01:15:37Barry Windham had more purpose.
01:15:39And there was no question in my mind,
01:15:41when he hit the ring, he went clear house,
01:15:43and that's exactly what he did.
01:15:45This past Thursday in Jacksonville, Florida,
01:15:49Anderson and Beautiful Bobby
01:15:52defeated Dustin Rhodes and Ricky the Dragon Steamboat
01:15:56in a very close, hard-fought event
01:15:58to win the WCW World Tag Team titles.
01:16:02What an elite group of six athletes.
01:16:05It's like an all-star game here.
01:16:07It's Beautiful Bobby starting out,
01:16:09and it was Windham who demanded to be the first man
01:16:11in this contest for his trio.
01:16:14And Beautiful Bobby with the first high-impact move
01:16:17of the contest.
01:16:18Windham said a little early,
01:16:19he's a little over-anxious, Tony,
01:16:21and he paid for it that time.
01:16:22Yeah, and you can better believe that Bobby,
01:16:24Iron, and the Cruncher are gonna work on that arm.
01:16:26If they don't, I'd be very surprised.
01:16:28Work on it immediately, almost.
01:16:30Two big right hands by Beautiful Bobby.
01:16:32They're right above us here.
01:16:33You're looking live in the Kansas Expo Center.
01:16:36This is the Clash of the Champions
01:16:38live on TBS in a superplex
01:16:40right off the second turnbuckle
01:16:42in Windhamville, up quickly.
01:16:44It's like he doesn't even feel the impact of that,
01:16:48but what a larry.
01:16:50He's like a man possessed.
01:16:52His eyes are, I mean,
01:16:54just glazed over.
01:16:56Another larry,
01:16:57and then Beautiful Bobby being pummeled here.
01:17:05Anderson and Eaton as Obispo
01:17:08have one thing, obviously, on their mind.
01:17:11That's to injure one of their opponents,
01:17:13and it's Windham who retaliates
01:17:15in time to the superplex,
01:17:17going for the cover.
01:17:18He got two, and that's all.
01:17:19It was Anderson who broke up the count,
01:17:22and now all six men in there.
01:17:24Three, figure fours,
01:17:27and the Dangerous Alliance,
01:17:29and Jeopardy! Anderson rakes the eyes
01:17:32to start a chain reaction.
01:17:37The case here, Jim,
01:17:38if you watch my back,
01:17:40and I'll watch yours,
01:17:41immediately Dustin and Ron Simmons
01:17:43came in to help out.
01:17:44Simmons, who finished ninth
01:17:46in the Heisman Trophy balloting
01:17:48his senior year at Florida State,
01:17:50has phenomenal power,
01:17:51but Larry, the crunch of Obispo,
01:17:52the veteran from Pittsburgh,
01:17:54had the leverage advantage,
01:17:55but there's too much power,
01:17:57too much strength from big Ron Simmons
01:17:59for Obispo to contend with,
01:18:00and now Anderson in.
01:18:01They're trying a double team.
01:18:03Can both men put Simmons down?
01:18:05Simmons showing good agility
01:18:07and takes them both over.
01:18:12Double shoulder blocks.
01:18:16The former All-American nose tackle
01:18:18from Florida State exploding
01:18:20out of the blocks.
01:18:21Now he's got a bear hug
01:18:22on beautiful Bobby.
01:18:24Anderson in with a knee
01:18:26to the lower back.
01:18:28Jim, it's so difficult
01:18:29for one referee to control things,
01:18:30especially with all the animosity
01:18:31going on in this one.
01:18:32Oh!
01:18:35Anderson thinks he's avoided Simmons.
01:18:37No such luck.
01:18:38What streak!
01:18:41Catches Obispo coming in.
01:18:44Simmons going for the cover,
01:18:45but Obispo's well under the ropes.
01:18:49Obispo had been outside
01:18:50for a long time,
01:18:51and he's the legal man.
01:18:53The deal is here.
01:18:54You gotta keep members
01:18:56of the Dangerous Alliance
01:18:57away from their corner
01:18:58into yours.
01:18:59It's very obvious.
01:19:02Obispo very quickly
01:19:03makes the tag.
01:19:05Not saying a great deal
01:19:06for his courage
01:19:07at this point in time in the match.
01:19:09Beautiful Bobby has been tagged in.
01:19:12And the natural.
01:19:15Fascinating youngster
01:19:16from Austin, Texas.
01:19:20And Eden raked the eyes.
01:19:23Trust me!
01:19:26Well, I don't know
01:19:27how good advice that would be.
01:19:28Yeah, right.
01:19:30You know, I asked Dustin,
01:19:31I said, are you gonna be
01:19:32thinking about those
01:19:33World Tag Team titles
01:19:34wrestling this match?
01:19:35He said, no, not at all.
01:19:36I'm thinking about winning
01:19:37this match.
01:19:38What a right hand!
01:19:40The natural.
01:19:41Takes beautiful Bobby
01:19:42over the top.
01:19:43The referee did not see that,
01:19:45or he'd be disqualified.
01:19:46Dustin!
01:19:47Oh my!
01:19:49Shades of Bob Beeman
01:19:50in the long jump.
01:19:51He met Eden with that lariat.
01:19:53And now he's thrown back
01:19:54inside the ring viciously.
01:19:56And Eden desperately
01:19:57needs to make the tag.
01:19:58He does tag Zabisco.
01:19:59And Zabisco has got to face
01:20:02Barry Windham.
01:20:04Immediately, Dustin saw
01:20:05that Zabisco had gotten the tag.
01:20:08And here came Windham.
01:20:11And I think you're finding
01:20:12Zabisco very cautious here.
01:20:16It was Zabisco who led
01:20:18the charge on October 27th
01:20:20at Halloween Havoc
01:20:21in breaking Windham's hand.
01:20:23He went for the lariat.
01:20:25And Zabisco was pulled
01:20:26out of the way by his teammate.
01:20:28Once again, it's a case
01:20:29of sending the Dangerous
01:20:30Alliance member into his quarter.
01:20:32And that is always dangerous,
01:20:33if I can use that term.
01:20:35Zabisco trying for a
01:20:36piledriver, but it's
01:20:37countered with a back body
01:20:38drop by Barry Windham.
01:20:42Zabisco rolling to the outside.
01:20:45He's hitting everything
01:20:46that moves in a different
01:20:48color jersey.
01:20:49And there's a drop kick
01:20:50by the Big Texan.
01:20:51And oh my gosh, he dropped
01:20:54south about seven feet.
01:20:57And it's Anderson face first
01:20:58to the canvas.
01:21:00Windham has, I've never
01:21:01seen Windham with as much
01:21:02aggression, with much tenacity
01:21:04as we're seeing here.
01:21:05And he wants Zabisco.
01:21:07That is so obvious.
01:21:08Paulie was poised with
01:21:09that phone, he was gonna
01:21:10nail Barry, but Barry
01:21:11got inside.
01:21:12It was a great move too.
01:21:13Windham is tagged.
01:21:15Dustin Rhodes.
01:21:16And now Larry is aware
01:21:18of that.
01:21:23So far this match
01:21:24with Dangerous Alliance
01:21:25has seemed very disjointed.
01:21:27Anderson, or Zabisco
01:21:29rather, made sure Eden
01:21:31avoided Rhodes who went
01:21:34sailing over the top rope.
01:21:36And what's dangerously,
01:21:38and a telephone right
01:21:40in the gut, and it may
01:21:42have even been low
01:21:43below the belt.
01:21:46Trying to get on
01:21:47the offensive.
01:21:48That's what the
01:21:49Dangerous Alliance
01:21:50has attempted to do here.
01:21:51Oh my goodness.
01:21:52Swinging neckbreaker
01:21:53on the inside, and
01:21:54Dustin's in major trouble.
01:21:58Barry Windham had
01:21:59to be restrained.
01:22:00He's now back in this corner.
01:22:03But the youngest man
01:22:04in this contest,
01:22:06Dustin Rhodes now,
01:22:08being separated from
01:22:09the pack so to speak.
01:22:10Anderson missed with
01:22:11his left hand.
01:22:12But he caught him!
01:22:13Waist lock!
01:22:14And a spinebuster!
01:22:15Will it be over here?
01:22:16He's on top!
01:22:17Lateral press!
01:22:18Two and a three-quarter!
01:22:20And Anderson can't
01:22:21believe it.
01:22:22Well, Anderson did not
01:22:23hook the leg.
01:22:27And that's only
01:22:28the first mistake.
01:22:29The spinebuster's effective
01:22:30only if you wear the man
01:22:32down much more than
01:22:33Dustin's been worn down.
01:22:36Snap in the air.
01:22:38And then Rhodes
01:22:39pulled the knees up.
01:22:42The son of the legendary
01:22:43American dream,
01:22:44Dusty Rhodes,
01:22:46pulled those knees up
01:22:47in veteran-like fashion.
01:22:49But right there's a DDT!
01:22:51Actually,
01:22:52it was a DDT,
01:22:54but it had an effect
01:22:55of even greater than
01:22:56the DDT.
01:22:57Because he landed
01:22:58on the top of his head
01:22:59instead of face first.
01:23:02Anderson now
01:23:03finally gets an arm
01:23:04across Rhodes,
01:23:05and he got it off!
01:23:07The right shoulder
01:23:08barely came up,
01:23:09and Anderson's so frustrated
01:23:11at this point in the matchup.
01:23:13I think at the time,
01:23:14Dustin, very fortunate
01:23:15he landed in his corner
01:23:16because he could hear
01:23:17Barry Wyndham
01:23:18and his encouragement,
01:23:19and it helped him get up
01:23:20before the three count.
01:23:22Beautiful, Bobby.
01:23:25Now,
01:23:26going up top
01:23:28is an Alabama jam time.
01:23:31Going for the elbow,
01:23:32and it found its mark.
01:23:36You realize
01:23:37that the last three
01:23:38TV champions
01:23:39at WCW
01:23:40are all now
01:23:41in the Dangerous Alliance.
01:23:42One of them on top
01:23:43right there,
01:23:44and again, the kid
01:23:45barely got his shoulder up.
01:23:51Dangerously has
01:23:52put together
01:23:53a real team
01:23:54of all-stars.
01:23:57And Dustin Irish
01:23:58whipped into the corner.
01:24:00And beautiful, Bobby!
01:24:01Oh, we got a bird's-eye
01:24:02view of that!
01:24:08Found himself
01:24:09in a very uncomfortable position
01:24:11on the second turnbuckle,
01:24:13but he makes a tag.
01:24:16You know, the comments
01:24:17that Paulie made
01:24:18with Eric earlier on
01:24:19makes you wonder
01:24:20if they are out
01:24:21to win a match
01:24:22or out to put somebody
01:24:23completely out of WCW,
01:24:24like Paulie said
01:24:25before the night is over.
01:24:26Oh!
01:24:30Dustin Rhodes
01:24:31in his big-size
01:24:3213-cowboy boots
01:24:33right in the face
01:24:34of Arn Anderson.
01:24:35And now both men
01:24:36in a very precarious
01:24:37position.
01:24:38Who will be able
01:24:39to execute the tag?
01:24:41Jim, you cannot
01:24:42waste a second
01:24:43when attacking
01:24:44Dustin Rhodes.
01:24:45Arn Anderson
01:24:46wasted a second.
01:24:47He paid for it.
01:24:48He has too much
01:24:49resiliency,
01:24:50too many guts.
01:24:51Oh, Windham is
01:24:52tagged in.
01:24:53Barry Windham
01:24:54with that heavily
01:24:55wrapped hand
01:24:56catches Eden Valerian.
01:24:57The doctors have
01:24:58told Barry,
01:24:59we're not sure
01:25:00you should be wrestling.
01:25:01He has thrown
01:25:03caution to the wind
01:25:04as the Oakley
01:25:05goes
01:25:06risking his own
01:25:07welfare
01:25:08to compete
01:25:09here at the
01:25:10Clash of the Champions.
01:25:11Back body drop
01:25:12and a lateral press
01:25:13and in comes
01:25:14a cruncher.
01:25:15He's met with that
01:25:16right hand
01:25:17that has had to be
01:25:18reconstructed
01:25:19and Anderson
01:25:20with a cheap shot.
01:25:21Well, it may be
01:25:22a cheap shot,
01:25:23but it's good
01:25:24six-man wrestling,
01:25:25I can tell you that.
01:25:26Anderson and Rhodes
01:25:27fighting on the outside.
01:25:28The cruncher.
01:25:29Oh, Windham
01:25:30caught.
01:25:31Beautiful Bobby
01:25:32coming off the top
01:25:33with that right hand.
01:25:34He got it right
01:25:35in the jaw
01:25:36and it's over.
01:25:37Ladies and gentlemen,
01:25:38the winners of the match,
01:25:39the team of the natural,
01:25:40Dustin Rhodes,
01:25:41Barry Windham,
01:25:42and Ron Simmons.
01:25:43Windham's hand
01:25:44heavily taped
01:25:45and that
01:25:46protective covering
01:25:47may have been
01:25:48the deciding factor
01:25:49in that, Tony.
01:25:50When Eden came off
01:25:51the top,
01:25:52he got caught.
01:25:53Early on in the match,
01:25:54though,
01:25:55it was throw caution
01:25:56to the wind
01:25:57because
01:25:58Dustin came
01:25:59flying out
01:26:00and this is
01:26:01a very close
01:26:02fight.
01:26:03And this is a
01:26:04very dangerous maneuver.
01:26:05He gave it everything.
01:26:06But I tell you what,
01:26:07Barry Windham
01:26:08really worked hard
01:26:09in this match.
01:26:10He sacrificed that hand
01:26:11that they did not
01:26:12work on during the match
01:26:13and came away
01:26:14with the victory.
01:26:15Jim, I'm gonna try
01:26:16to talk in the locker room
01:26:17to Barry Windham
01:26:18a little bit later on.
01:26:19And still to come
01:26:20it's Sting
01:26:21and Steamboat
01:26:22versus Rude and Austin.
01:26:23We'll be back
01:26:24on TBS
01:26:25after this.
01:26:27Welcome back,
01:26:28ladies and gentlemen,
01:26:29to the Clash of the Champions.
01:26:30In just a few moments,
01:26:31I'll be joined
01:26:32by Jesse,
01:26:33the body of Ventura
01:26:34here at ringside.
01:26:35But right now,
01:26:36my colleague,
01:26:37Tony Schiavone,
01:26:38is standing by
01:26:39in the locker room.
01:26:40Okay, Jim,
01:26:41thanks very much.
01:26:42A tremendous
01:26:43six-man win
01:26:44for this combination
01:26:45of Simmons,
01:26:46Dustin Rhodes,
01:26:47and Barry Windham.
01:26:48Paulie made the statement
01:26:49early on,
01:26:50another man
01:26:51would go down
01:26:52in the locker room
01:26:53in this match.
01:26:54Paulie made the statement
01:26:55early on,
01:26:56another man
01:26:57would go down
01:26:58at the hands
01:26:59of the Dangerous Alliance.
01:27:00It was not you
01:27:01because you felt it before.
01:27:02I'll tell you what,
01:27:03Schiavone,
01:27:04you know me well
01:27:05and I'm not the kind of person
01:27:06to exactly do
01:27:07what I'm told.
01:27:08I don't give a damn
01:27:09what WCW says.
01:27:10I don't give a damn
01:27:11what my Dr. Drew Naney says.
01:27:12I'm back
01:27:13and I'm gonna get
01:27:14in that ring.
01:27:15I've got the braces
01:27:16and I've got the men
01:27:17behind me.
01:27:18I've got a short list
01:27:19of names
01:27:20and I'm gonna start
01:27:21kicking tail
01:27:22and forgetting
01:27:23about taking the names.
01:27:24Larry Zbysko,
01:27:25you're number one.
01:27:26The pain that I felt
01:27:27in this hand
01:27:28right here
01:27:29is nothing compared
01:27:30to what you're gonna feel.
01:27:31You're gonna suffer
01:27:3210,000 times
01:27:33what I did.
01:27:34I laid in the bed
01:27:35and stared at the ceiling
01:27:36and thought I was never
01:27:37gonna wrestle again
01:27:38because I thought
01:27:39I was through.
01:27:40It's not everybody
01:27:41that gets their hand
01:27:42slammed in a car door
01:27:43and then comes back
01:27:44and does what they do best.
01:27:45Larry Zbysko,
01:27:46you mark my words.
01:27:47You're number one.
01:27:48You're number one.
01:27:49You're number one.
01:27:50You're number one.
01:27:51You're number one.
01:27:52You mark my words.
01:27:53The pain I felt
01:27:54is only a fraction
01:27:55because I guarantee you
01:27:56just as Paul Lee
01:27:57dangerously
01:27:58made the prediction
01:27:59that one man
01:28:00would fall tonight
01:28:01and he hasn't as of yet.
01:28:02I predict
01:28:03that you
01:28:04and anyone involved
01:28:05with you
01:28:06is gonna fall
01:28:07and be crippled
01:28:08and be out
01:28:09of this sport
01:28:10forever.
01:28:11Tell you what,
01:28:12Paul Lee wanted a war
01:28:13and he got one.
01:28:14Let's go back
01:28:15to ringside.
01:28:16Thanks very much,
01:28:17Tony.
01:28:18I'm here with Jesse
01:28:19the Bodybuilder
01:28:20and I'm gonna start
01:28:21right here with Jesse
01:28:22the Bodyventurer
01:28:23who will join our broadcast
01:28:24crew at Super Brawl,
01:28:25the big main event
01:28:26just coming up
01:28:27in just a few moments.
01:28:28What do you see
01:28:29in this big tag team war?
01:28:30Well, first of all,
01:28:31I'm excited
01:28:32because this is my first
01:28:33official broadcast
01:28:34in WCW,
01:28:35the main event.
01:28:36What do I see?
01:28:37Any time
01:28:38you got ravishing
01:28:39Rick Rude,
01:28:40you got trouble,
01:28:41Jim Ross.
01:28:42Dangerously said
01:28:43that he was gonna put
01:28:44someone out of action.
01:28:45It did not occur
01:28:46in the last match.
01:28:47Will that be his focus
01:28:48in this one?
01:28:49It well might be
01:28:50but if I was a steamboat,
01:28:51I'd be real careful.
01:28:52If I was Sting,
01:28:53I'd be even more careful
01:28:54because he has
01:28:55a championship match
01:28:56down the line.
01:28:57Fans,
01:28:58we're gonna call the action
01:28:59in just a few moments.

01:30:47Hit the music.
01:30:49The United States
01:30:54heavyweight champion
01:31:00currently ranked number one on WCW top ten.
01:31:04In phenomenal shape, his partner Stunning Steve ranked number three.
01:31:09You know what I like about this, Jim Ross?
01:31:11What's that, Jess?
01:31:12You know, if I was 20 years older, these two guys could be my sons.
01:31:16They remind me of me.
01:31:19And ladies and gentlemen, their opponents.
01:31:23Introducing first, from Charlotte, North Carolina,
01:31:28255 pounds, Ricky, the Dragon, Steamboat.
01:31:33His partner from Venice Beach, California, 255 pounds, this is Steam.
01:31:43Steam, who will meet Lex Luger exclusively on pay-per-view on Saturday,
01:31:50February 29th, is currently ranked number two in the WCW world top ten.
01:31:56Steamboat is number four.
01:31:57So wrestlers one, two, three, and four, all involved in this tag team matchup
01:32:03with Nick Patrick, the senior referee assigned this contest.
01:32:06This is pretty remarkable, you know, Jim Ross.
01:32:08It's a very rare occasion when you get the top four contenders in the ring at one
01:32:13time, and I'll tell you what, Sting better be careful because he's got a shot at
01:32:18the champ, so how much can he possibly turn loose here tonight?
01:32:23Steamboat and Austin starting it out for their respective duos here.
01:32:27Yes, Austin, with the advantage on the ropes, we had a clean break, surprisingly.
01:32:30Now, why do you say that?
01:32:32Because he doesn't do it very often.
01:32:33Well, let's see if Steamboat does.
01:32:35It'll be interesting to see what kind of break the Dragon gives out there.
01:32:39Shoulder lock by the Dragon.
01:32:41Austin down.
01:32:42Austin from a great athletic family.
01:32:44His father played in the Cotton Bowl for Rice University.
01:32:48Great Southwest Conference football player, so he comes from good stock.
01:32:52Well, that must have been years ago,
01:32:53because I can't even remember when Rice was in a bowl.
01:32:58Right hand by the television champion, Steamboat in trouble.
01:33:01Three right hands find their mark.
01:33:03They're right above us by Steamboat with the martial arts,
01:33:05trying to fight back, and another blow.
01:33:06Steamboat fighting out of the corner.
01:33:08Austin in trouble now.
01:33:10Steamboat with the martial arts, and very effective with it.
01:33:13Well, I'll tell you, stunning Steve Austin made a major mistake.
01:33:17When he had Steamboat in the corner, he paused, he hesitated, and
01:33:21he gave the Dragon the opening.
01:33:23And you cannot give Ricky the Dragon, Steamboat,
01:33:26any opening whatsoever in the ring.
01:33:29Austin and Steamboat have both been Pro Wrestling Illustrated Rookies of the Year.
01:33:34Certainly wanna thank Dennis Brann and
01:33:35Craig Peters for their assistance in preparing this broadcast tonight.
01:33:40Good move there by Steamboat.
01:33:42Both arms are hooked.
01:33:43Pretty predicament.
01:33:43He may have it.
01:33:44He got a two count.
01:33:46Well, it was very close right there to Dragon going for it again.
01:33:48He's going for it again, and he almost had it.
01:33:51Steamboat inside cradle.
01:33:52He's got it locked up.
01:33:53He may have it here, but Austin too strong.
01:33:55You know, this could be very interesting.
01:33:57We could have a pinfall before Sting or Roode even hit the ring.
01:34:02Steamboat with a karate kick, and Roode in.
01:34:05And a Roode awakening for him in the form of a foot to the midsection.
01:34:12And now Dangerously must attempt to regroup his team.
01:34:15Don't worry about Dangerously.
01:34:17He's got a plan.
01:34:18He will definitely regroup out there.
01:34:22That's the important thing about having a manager.
01:34:25A manager can see what goes on inside that ring, where you as a participant
01:34:29cannot always be aware of everything happening in the ring.
01:34:33That's why you got a man like Paul Lee outside the ring.
01:34:38Sting and Steamboat obviously wanna wrestle this match at their pace,
01:34:42which is quick, and a tag has been made.
01:34:44The exchange, and Steamboat, a veteran move, moves away from the corner.
01:34:49Well, that's Ricky Steamboat does not wanna get caught in the corner.
01:34:52He does not want Roode or Austin to get him, cut the ring off, and
01:34:56tough it out in the corner two on one.
01:34:59See, this is tag team wrestling.
01:35:01And if you can get away with it, you do it.
01:35:03If you can get a two on one situation, you take advantage of it.
01:35:07Wow.
01:35:08Roode just walked over and slapped Sting right in the face.
01:35:12And Sting demands a tag, and the Steamer is ready to let him have it.
01:35:18Look at Roode back away.
01:35:19A smart move by Roode.
01:35:21How do you figure that?
01:35:22How do I figure that?
01:35:23He's trying to entice Sting into the corner.
01:35:26If he gets him in the corner,
01:35:27they got the two on one situation they're looking for.
01:35:32Fans, we asked you to vote on the poll on our 900 number about Paul Lee
01:35:36dangerously being allowed at ringside for a Roode's US title defenses.
01:35:41And we'll have the results of that this Saturday on WCW when the Steiners
01:35:45meet two members of the Dangerous Alliance.
01:35:48Well, I voted already and I voted that Paul Lee should be on the sidelines.
01:35:52For some reason, that doesn't surprise me as Roode opens up an advantage
01:35:55offensively on the Stinger.
01:35:58And now Sting's getting dangerous.
01:36:00He's getting over towards that corner.
01:36:03Sting with a great leapfrog, waist lock, atomic drop.
01:36:07Whoa, and believe me, Jim Ross, you wanna see what that feels like.
01:36:12I'll pass, I'll take your word for it.
01:36:15Look at poor Rick Roode.
01:36:16Sting with a clothesline, has the advantage now on Roode.
01:36:19Austin in, and he goes down from the right hand.
01:36:23They need to bail out.
01:36:24They need to get out of the ring and regroup with Paul Lee.
01:36:27Now, what kind of a move is that on a sting?
01:36:30It's a move out of aggression, out of anger.
01:36:33Scratching with the fingernails.
01:36:35Come on, this guy's supposed to be a hero.
01:36:39Sting with the Irish whip, takes him with a lot of velocity to the corner,
01:36:43on the far side of the ring.
01:36:45Boy, all four of these men are in magnificent physical condition.
01:36:49Gut wrench.
01:36:52Is he gonna get it?
01:36:54Roode had it blocked, but he came down abdomen first.
01:36:59Sting, single leg pick up.
01:37:02Now the modified version of the camel clutch.
01:37:04You know this move.
01:37:06Well, he needs to sit back with it.
01:37:08He's gotta get back and lock the fingers.
01:37:10We could get a submission.
01:37:12I'd say on any normal human being, you'd get a submission.
01:37:16But that is ravishing Rick Roode in the ring.
01:37:18He is not a normal human being.
01:37:20And the Stinger,
01:37:24emulating the ravishing one, right in Paul E.
01:37:29Dangerously's face.
01:37:31And the brash manager, the psycho yuppie from Scarsdale.
01:37:35And Sting and Roode, or Sting and Steamboat make an exchange.
01:37:38Wait a minute.
01:37:39Did they tag?
01:37:40I didn't see a tag.
01:37:41I didn't see no tag on a Sting and Steamboat.
01:37:43Come on referee, do your job.
01:37:46You did not see a tag, switch them back.
01:37:50This phenomenal crowd, they're in Topeka.
01:37:55Not wanting Steamboat to leave.
01:37:58And now Steamboat, bumping and grinding.
01:38:03Look at that, another illegal tag, Jim Ross.
01:38:06But he's a legal man, right?
01:38:08You wanted him to make the exchange.
01:38:09Yeah, don't give me that.
01:38:11That's an illegal tag.
01:38:12These guys are cheating.
01:38:13I can't believe it.
01:38:16And you think that Dangerous Elias will not cheat or
01:38:18maim someone if they're given the opportunity, Jim?
01:38:21Yeah, but the problem is Steamboat and Sting are cheating first.
01:38:26They're supposed to be-
01:38:27Whoa.
01:38:30Whoa.
01:38:32I think Sting's a soprano.
01:38:35The next time he does Roxanne, it's gonna be at soprano level.
01:38:39Rude, lower back being punished.
01:38:43Perhaps he should make the tag here.
01:38:45He buries a knee and now does make the tag to the television champion.
01:38:50And now the Stinger's in trouble because he's caught in the wrong corner.
01:38:56Listen to this crowd.
01:38:58Here at the Kansas Expo Center.
01:39:01They're right above us here.
01:39:02And Stunning Steve trying to get him to eat the buckle, but Sting blocks it.
01:39:07Austin takes the turnbuckle.
01:39:09This crowd here coming alive.
01:39:12And Austin with a knee strategically placed in the abdomen.
01:39:15Sting in trouble.
01:39:17Austin with the Irish whip to the center.
01:39:19And the elbow.
01:39:20Beautiful elbow right there.
01:39:22The Stinger's in big trouble.
01:39:23We could get a pin.
01:39:24Right there, he got two.
01:39:26Austin went for the cover and got two out of it.
01:39:30Another tag.
01:39:31They're tagging in and out now.
01:39:32Now, you notice Austin and Rude are making legal tags.
01:39:36And they're making it with a great deal of regularity.
01:39:41Of course, Austin's staying in there.
01:39:42He's got a five count to get out of the ring.
01:39:45He's using that to his advantage to double team the Stinger.
01:39:49Front face lock applied by Ravishing Rick Rude.
01:39:52As Sting tries to make his way to his corner to tag Ricky Steamboat.
01:39:55Well, if they tag, it'll be the first legal one of the match.
01:40:00They're close.
01:40:02And Rude knocking Steamboat down before Sting can make the tag.
01:40:08Now, it goes to the lateral press.
01:40:09He may have him here.
01:40:10Is Sting able to kick out?
01:40:12Well, Rude made a mistake there.
01:40:13He got a little bit overconfident, Jim Ross.
01:40:16He should have hooked the leg.
01:40:17He did not hook the leg.
01:40:18You gotta do that.
01:40:19Jess, even though Sting has had major problems with the Dangerous Alliance,
01:40:23will the signing of that world title match affect his concentration in this contest?
01:40:28Well, it'll be a major setback for him if he gets pinned here.
01:40:32The Clash of Champions, if he goes down to defeat.
01:40:37Austin again with a cheap shot on Steamboat, precluding a tag.
01:40:42Irish whips Sting in again.
01:40:44Sting, this time, trying to go for the Sunset Flip.
01:40:47Austin with a wide base, and went for a right hand, but Sting avoided it.
01:40:50And Sting makes the tag.
01:40:53And here comes the dragon.
01:40:55Steamboat is well rested, and he's nailing Austin.
01:40:59And Rude, the Martial Arts blows the dragon down.
01:41:02He's in control, offensively, of this tag team battle.
01:41:06Well, I'll tell you one thing that's gotta happen.
01:41:08The referee, the referee better get some control in there.
01:41:12He's got three men in the ring.
01:41:13There's only supposed to be two.
01:41:17Martial Arts to the abdomen, a forearm to the kidneys.
01:41:21And Steamboat up on the shoulders of the Television Champion.
01:41:25Takes him over in a victory roll.
01:41:26He's got him, but he had him pinned, and Rude now interferes.
01:41:31Rude came in illegally.
01:41:33And so did Sting, so it's all fair in love and war, Jim Ross.
01:41:37And indeed, this is a war.
01:41:40Jim Ross and Jesse The Body Ventura ringside.
01:41:43Live here on TBS, and what an elbow.
01:41:45He caught him flush on the chops with that one.
01:41:48And Ricky the Dragon is now gonna eat Rick Rude's knee.
01:41:52The Dragon in major, major trouble here.
01:41:55Gonna get double teamed in the corner.
01:41:57And the classic tag team strategy,
01:41:59they are keeping Steamboat in their half of the ring.
01:42:02That's right, that's important.
01:42:03In any tag team confrontation, you wanna cut the ring off and
01:42:07do it on your side of that 50-yard marker.
01:42:12Again, the tag made, and look at Steamboat's positioning.
01:42:14Near the corner of the Dangerous Alliance.
01:42:18Steamboat has such great cardiovascular conditioning.
01:42:23And great resiliency, but it's reversed by Austin.
01:42:28Great agility by Steamboat, trying to roll him up, but Austin held onto the rope.
01:42:33Austin at 258, Steamboat 235, but Steamboat with a quick inside cradle.
01:42:37And again, Rude in, and Sting in.
01:42:39We got all four in there now.
01:42:41Referee's losing control of it.
01:42:47Sting being tossed on the rampway by Ravishing Rick Rude.
01:42:51I think Austin and Steamboat are the legal men in this match right now.
01:42:55You're correct at that.
01:42:56Austin and Steamboat are the legal men.
01:42:59And Sting's taking it to outside the ring.
01:43:02Sting and Austin battling out here in the rampway.
01:43:05Austin better watch out.
01:43:06He could get counted out.
01:43:07He's not the legal man.
01:43:10Sting thrown off the ramp.
01:43:12Rude and Steamboat hammering away, back in the ring.
01:43:15Now Rude goes back to the apron.
01:43:16And Austin continues with a back breaker on Ricky the Dragon Steamboat.
01:43:22Trying to injure Steamboat's back.
01:43:24Sting up on top.
01:43:25Sting the crossbody.
01:43:28What?
01:43:29He can't count back.
01:43:30He got it.
01:43:31And ladies and gentlemen, the winners of the match,
01:43:36the team of Ricky the Dragon Steamboat and Sting.
01:43:41Hey.
01:43:42Sting and Steamboat have won it.
01:43:45How can they have won it?
01:43:46Two guys pin one guy.
01:43:48You've got to give the assist to Sting, but there's a Rude Awakening.
01:43:51Rude Awakening on a already weakened Ricky the Dragon Steamboat.
01:43:55Sting went for the Stinger Splash, but he missed.
01:43:57And now's when Paulie and the boys are gonna do the damage.
01:44:01Oh, no, not another one.
01:44:04There's no reason for this.
01:44:05The second Rude Awakening.
01:44:07I think the dragon's been awakened.
01:44:09The human anatomy cannot sustain this, and now he's got that belt.
01:44:15My God.
01:44:17He's giving him a good old fashioned country whipper.
01:44:20The security men are being lashed as well.
01:44:24Sting trying to come back in and protect his partner.
01:44:28And we got all hell breaking loose in there now.
01:44:31Everybody's in there.
01:44:33Security men, the dangerous alliance.
01:44:35Look at Rude now, trying to whip Steamboat, but Sting covering on his partner.
01:44:40Well, what the heck?
01:44:41They double teamed for the win.
01:44:42They might as well double team now in their whipping.
01:44:45Austin and Rude continuing this onslaught.
01:44:53Look at Rude lashing away.
01:44:55Sting protecting his partner.
01:44:58Sting here.
01:45:10Absolutely no reason to Rude Awakenings.
01:45:15And Jesse, what?
01:45:16Why two?
01:45:17Why did he do that?
01:45:18I'll tell you why.
01:45:18There was a reason.
01:45:19It was an illegal pinfall.
01:45:21You saw it, Jim Ross, right in the center of that ring.
01:45:24It took two guys to pin Steve Austin.
01:45:27I don't blame them at all for what they did.
01:45:29Well, Steamboat is gonna need some medical attention as we gaze right here in
01:45:33the ring to Rude Awakenings by the US champion.
01:45:35But what about, we just have a few more moments.
01:45:38You'll be at Super Brawl on the 29th.
01:45:40I will be at Super Brawl.
