00:00Major League Baseball historic numbers. We're no stranger to those as of late
00:04because there are two guys, one in each league, that are doing absolute damage
00:09and that's Aaron Judge and it's Shohei Otani. What a wonderful baseball season
00:14for both of these players. MVPs, no doubt about it, but let's take a look at some
00:19of these historical outlooks that we could be looking at and starting with
00:23Aaron Judge. Just looking at the season, Dubs, that he's having right now, a 333
00:28batting average, 51 home runs, 122 RBI, and an OPS of 1.197.
00:37Absolutely flat-out incredible. The MVP, no doubt about it, but if we are looking
00:44at the FanBull Sportsbook and seeing what Aaron Judge could possibly do this
00:49year, 63 plus home runs, that's at a minus 110 price. For him, it's 65 plus home runs,
00:56that's a plus 240 price. 70 plus home runs, getting into that Barry Bonds
01:01territory at a 27 to 1. Let's just start with Aaron Judge and what he's done this
01:07season in that Yankees pinstripes. It's been nothing short of phenomenal and yes,
01:12he could hit 60 plus home runs this year. Incredible.
01:17It's truly a tremendous feat and for the Yankees, when a lot of the other big
01:22superstars, I guess some of the other in the lineup really, have got a little
01:26missing. Aaron Judge continues to be the superstar that they need in New York.
01:30You look at the key numbers here. Leads in dingers, first in ribbies, first in OPS
01:36at 32 years of age. We saw over last weekend, puts him right back on pace to
01:41hit that 63 mark and counting. You know, back in the day, Donnie, they say there
01:45was only one Babe Ruth. Well, we've got a couple right now with him
01:49and Showtime Otani, but for Aaron Judge, the big fella continues to get it done.
01:54I think there will be a bit of a slow up towards October. I feel like I'm being
01:59quite the pessimist here on a Wednesday, but no two ways about it. Aaron Judge and
02:03what he is doing this year for the pinstripes is truly special stuff. The
02:09guy's an absolute mountain. It doesn't matter who's throwing at him. The stuff
02:12that he faces on the nightly, he's just seen them so well and continues to send
02:17him yada to high clip. I mean, if we're looking at Aaron Judge here on the
02:21season, because as we know, like power hitters aren't supposed to do this,
02:25they're supposed to hit home runs. Absolutely. But usually it's like a
02:28dubs Aaron Judge in 232. That's okay. He's got 50 home runs. Like he's one of
02:32the best averages in Major League Baseball for a power hitter, which is
02:36astounding to actually think about that. So he's still getting the singles, the
02:40doubles and the home runs here and doing it at a high rate. But now as we take a
02:45look at, and I think you brought up the key ingredient here in the month of
02:48September, let's just say he does cool off. But a lot of times, dubs, that's
02:52not because of his own doing. When you are in a pennant race, when you are in
02:56a divisional race, other teams are gonna get smart to the game to go. Now,
02:59hold on. He's sitting 3 33 with 51 bombs. We haven't even got to September.
03:04Why are we pitching to this guy? So if you were to wager on 63 65 or 70 plus
03:10home runs, that has to cross into your mind because it's not as if it's
03:14batting practice. Like every single night, you know they're going to pitch
03:18to him because there's gonna be times like, Oh, let me bet Aaron judge to get
03:21an RBI tonight. Let me bet him hit a home run. Hey, look at this runners on
03:25second and third with two outs. Aaron judges up. You know where he's going,
03:28dubs. He's going to first base on an intentional walk at that point. So if
03:32you are betting judge down the stretch, is that creeping into your mindset now
03:36where he might just not get the opportunities, let alone the execution?
03:41Absolutely. And a lot has to go in favor. I mean, we're going to take a
03:45pause and say we're talking about Aaron judge to potentially put up 63 home
03:50runs this wild. You know, if we go back to the regular season, the start of
03:54regular season, you'd be saying no, he's never gonna get back to 62. So
03:58much has to go right in favor. You've highlighted the struggles he will have
04:02gone against opposing teams, their aces. They're gonna put him straight on
04:06first, take the gloves off so he might not have ample opportunity. It's like
04:10looking at a football game where the totals at 70 points. A lot has to go
04:14right to get 63 home runs for the season. I don't care if he's already
04:18got 51 and still climbing. It's not a question towards Aaron judge and he's
04:23ability or the way he's seen him. It's just about the situation that the
04:27opposition will put him in. I think those chances will start to shorten up
04:31and it will be tougher and tougher on the nightly for Aaron judge to continue
04:35to put up these ding is at 63 plus at minus 1 10. And that's a pretty sharp
04:41number. And by the way, Juan Soto, you just saw that graphic that flashed up
04:45on the screen. 50 plus home runs for him this year. That's at a 7 to 1
04:48price. He's currently sitting at 37 home runs. If you want to combine the
04:52two at the fan blue sports, we're gonna have some fun with that judge and Soto
04:56to have 110 plus home runs combined. That's at a plus 1 45 price judge and
05:01Soto to have 115 plus home runs. That's at a 9 to 1 price. Then the
05:06American League, it is going to be absolutely Aaron judge running away
05:10with the M. V. P. The National League, the same thing show. Hey, Otani came
05:14off all season surgery to repair his elbow. There were questions whether or
05:18not he was even going to start the season, let alone play the full extent
05:21of the season. The one thing we do know he wasn't going to pitch this season.
05:25They're hoping to get him on the mound next year. But my goodness, when you
05:28pay $700 million, you better get a return back on your investment. You see
05:33the statistics there at 2 94 average 41 home runs 94 RBI. Keep in mind, he's
05:40not batting in the fourth or fifth hole where the table is always set. He's
05:43primarily since Mookie Betts got hurt the leadoff hitter and still stays in
05:47that leadoff position today. But how about this show? Hey, Otani dubs 40
05:52stolen basis. He does it all. Yeah, became the sixth member of the 40 40
05:58club and he looks to be the consummate professional. You know, never met Otani,
06:03but looks to be a real locker room guy. And it's $700 million. Yes, that's a
06:08whopping price tag. You could make the argument he has exceeded expectations
06:13and that's a big thing to say for the Dodgers, where there's certainly a lot
06:16of expectations for all of their firepower for Otani. After that injury,
06:21of course, there's going to be concerns. He's still 30 years of age.
06:24He's not getting any younger. But from what we've seen this year for the
06:27Dodgers, where they've had their own struggles, their own inconsistencies. I
06:31mean, this guy continues to step up and deliver on the nightly and I just feel
06:36like he's got this, I guess this this gravitas towards the special occasion
06:41doing special things. Not that Aaron Judge doesn't have that either. But
06:45this is a guy who can absolutely take the Dodgers back to the World Series
06:49tight. So he has been absolutely fantastic. Cannot wait to see if they
06:54can get him back out there on the hill next season. But from what we've seen
06:57this year, Showtime Otani continues to do very special things, Donnie. I mean,
07:03locked in as well. And also let's remind ourselves like sometimes we have a
07:06little bit of turmoil in your personal life. It sort of spills over onto the
07:10Major League Baseball diamond or wherever you work. But how about this
07:13this year? You know, gambling, getting millions of dollars stolen from him from
07:17his interpreter and still going out and putting an MVP showcase performance on
07:22on a night to night basis. That's phenomenal. If we are looking at the
07:25fan, those sports book with some options to bet Otani this year. How
07:29about the 50 50 club? 50 home runs, 50 stolen bases, a plus 1 70 price. That's
07:36ridiculous. Oh, tiny to get the triple crown, which means batting average home
07:40runs and RBI. That's 10 to 1. Marcelo Zuna of the Braves. If he can crack
07:45into it, a plus 7 50 price for the triple crown. Aaron judge. We talked
07:49about a plus 5 20 price to win the triple crown. And then there's Jose
07:52Ramirez of the Cleveland Guardians, who's a sensational player to get to
07:56the 40 40 club. That's at a plus 1 30 price. Imagine that a 50 50 player
08:03doves. That's unbelievable. It really would be. And again, we're playing the
08:06situations. I think Otani's probably got a better chance of getting the 50 50
08:12club than trying to win that triple crown at 10 to 1. Otani still gonna
08:15have plenty of chances moving through the next month in terms of the stolen
08:19bases. That's not gonna be really affected this. I love what I'm saying
08:23from Showtime. Otani. I think that's where I'll be looking. The 50 50 club
08:27and Donny, you know, throughout earlier that, you know, Babe Ruth, we've seen
08:31some special generational talents come and go through Major League Baseball.
08:34Has there ever been a generation where we've had two superstars at the peak of
08:40their powers squaring off like we're seeing this year and almost how about
08:45this last year? Shohei Otani was in the American League. So imagine if these
08:48two players were still in the American League and doing battle, who would
08:52actually get that MVP? We're gonna set that question up to the public here a
08:56little bit later in the show when we hit the fade the public. But these two
09:00players having absolutely sensational seasons. Now, the one thing you want to
09:04focus on Aaron judges, you know, there's a running joke around here at the
09:07Sports Grid Network. Joe Freezer, the producer of the show, along with Ben
09:10Stevens. Maybe they don't think that Aaron judge will be the favorite next
09:13year in the MVP race. That's very questionable thinking. People will
09:17debate that much more next hour. Number three officially underway right here on
09:21the early line. Serious sex and Channel 1 59 on the Sports Grid Network. Donny
09:25right side. Doves Anderson bringing that he and two hours already down. How
09:30many professional sports have we talked about? How many great topics have we
09:33brought up? And we still doves. He have an hour to go refreshed and ready. It's
09:39a Wednesday. It's hump day. Tomorrow is week number one in college football.
09:43Next week is the NFL season. You gotta be fired up at this time. What else do
09:48we need in our lives, Tony? You know, as sports fans and betters, there's
09:52absolutely no shortage. I would make the argument. You know, the anticipation
09:57that we have this week on this Wednesday, it could be unmatched going
10:01through the calendar year. I'm that bullish, Johnny. I mean, we got
10:04everything. We got tennis, we got golf, we can set the NFL college football
10:08back there on Saturday. So absolutely jam packed. It's been a fantastic
10:13starts a little happy hump day here on a Wednesday. A couple of nice tickets
10:17trending for this afternoon with plenty of big storylines to talk about. No,
10:22absolutely. It's such a great time of year because you start to just get into
10:26that flow of football season. Then before you can blink doves, you were
10:29talking about the NBA, the NHL, you know, every college basketball coming
10:33back into it. So great stuff here on the horizon, which includes, yes, don't
10:37forget about baseball in September. I'm telling you, you can still make some
10:40good money there. But obviously we wait for October and that's play off
10:44baseball. And since we're talking about baseball here, Dubsy in our number
10:48three, how about a question for the people out there and other? The two
10:52options were Aaron Judge show 11% coming in on other people think that maybe
10:58these two guys aren't the best players in baseball, which is crazy. But my
11:02vote, it actually went towards Aaron Judge. So technically I am outnumbered
11:07here with 31% of the vote. Oh, tiny running away with a dubsy. How did you
11:12vote in this poll and why? I'm so biased. I'm so biased to show a tiny
11:19I'm out here on the West Coast. It's all about the Dodgers and look, he's
11:23top five in all key metrics. He became the sixth member of the 40 40 club last
11:28weekend. He's got a propensity to do it on the big stage, the special stuff.
11:33There's nothing too big for show. Hi, Tony. And we're going to see that going
11:37in to the playoffs. I truly believe he can carry the Dodgers to World Series.
11:42And I guess in the back of my mind, Donnie, and I shouldn't be factoring
11:45this in is that our tiny hasn't even been out there on the hill pitching
11:48this year. So when I look at is a judge is that our tiny it's the future lean
11:54that sort of keeps creeping in for me. So I've went with tiny on that side of
11:58things, but we're not seeing it the same Donnie on a Wednesday. You're biased
12:02towards big bad Aaron Judge. I mean, continues to do it at a high clip. Why
12:07do you think he's the best player on the planet going against our tiny? You
12:11know what? The funny part about it is doves as I look at this poll, and
12:14sometimes it might just be human bias at this point, saying like this year if
12:18we take a look at it, it should be Aaron Judge because they're on an even
12:22playing field. You look at the home runs, you look at the batting average,
12:25you look at the RBI and you say, Wow, Aaron Judge is actually playing the
12:29field this year as well. Now we do know once it flips back to next year, and
12:34if show a tiny appears on that mound and let's just say he's not even a
12:38absolutely dominant pitcher. Let's just say he goes 12 and nine on the mound
12:44with an E. R. A. Of 3.9 and still is able to throw pitches throughout the
12:49season. Nobody else can do that. How can you have a batter that's gonna hit 50
12:53home runs and pitch at the same time? It's almost not fair. It's almost like
12:56as long as Otani has a decent season the next 5 to 6 years. How could it not
13:01be the MVP every single year and the best player on the planet because he's
13:06doing something nobody else can do. So maybe for me, doves, I looked at this
13:10poll and said, Well, you know what? If I am gonna give it to the best player in
13:13baseball, at least he plays the field now. No, Tony doesn't. And his numbers
13:17are strong. But I think you're correct. And the public is right voting this way.
13:22If we're just asking ourselves moving forward and once Otani is fully healthy,
13:27I don't see even how you could make an argument that Otani wouldn't be the
13:31best player on the planet in baseball. It's the social media team, Johnny. I
13:36mean, if they pose the question who's having a better season, it's Aaron
13:40Judge. But if it's who's the better player? Well, yeah, I don't know. I keep
13:45leaning towards Otani here, but truly special stuff. It feels like we've got
13:49two unicorns going through 2024. And why do we bother playing the regular
13:54season, Donny? We're now a month out from the playoffs. It's the Yankees.
13:57It's the top betting choice in the AL. It's the Dodgers in the National League.
14:01But I'll tell you what, for Otani, plus 9.50, he started the year for MVP
14:05honors. He now shortens up to unbackable odds. So even the odds makers were
14:09against Otani having this bounce back after that offseason injury. But truly
14:14special stuff from both players. You'd love to see it there come October.
14:20Like, look at these numbers. And again, Otani's a leadoff guy. 294 batting
14:24average, 41 home runs, 94 RBI. But 40 stolen bases really sticks out here.
14:31Because when you take a look at Aaron Judge on the opposite side, a 333
14:34average, which does best Otani right now, 51 home runs, which does best
14:39Shohei Otani, 122 RBIs, which does best him. But the running is a part of
14:44the game. And just something like the 2020 club or the 30-30 club, right, is
14:48crazy for players even to get in there. Because the advent of running in Major
14:52League Baseball was sort of taken out of the equation over the past 10 to 15
14:56years. Now you have a better chance to run because why? The bases are bigger,
15:00which gives you a better advantage of sliding in. And number two, a pitcher
15:03just can't throw over to first base 16 times in a row to try to check you. You
15:06throw over there two times, you know, he can't go back. You're open to stealing
15:10much more times. But to have a player like Shohei Otani, it's not even as if
15:14it's like, okay, Ronald Acuna Jr., smaller in stature, we know he's got the
15:19speed. Obviously he got injured this year, but has the power. Like if you told me
15:22like he's a 40-40 or 50-50 guy, like you know what, that makes sense. But Shohei
15:26Otani, that big body frame out there, Dubsy, is gonna possibly get 50 stolen
15:33bases along with 50 home runs. It's almost unthinkable. Yeah, and I guess the
15:40production he adds to the Dodgers, I mean, it's unparalleled. It's truly, you
15:45know, special stuff. It's the work ethic. It's the professionalism. You see it in
15:49the clubhouse. You see it on the daily. There really are no nights off for Shohei
15:53Otani. But I would ask you, Donnie, which ballclub would lose more if they lost
15:58their star? Would it be the Yankees without Aaron Judge? Because I feel like
16:02the Dodgers, you know, without Otani, they'd still be sort of middling along
16:06here. Dave Roberts, they've got all these superstars. I know the Pinstripes
16:10have got the likes of Stanton, Juan Soto, but I really do think, considering the
16:14season that the Yankees have had, Aaron Judge has arguably done more for them
16:19than Otani has brought for the Dodgers. I agree. It's a good question you bring up
16:23to because you're right about that. You just expect the Dodgers like next man up.
16:26Even though it's Shohei Otani, the MVP, I think they would be able to weather the
16:30storm a little bit better. But also, like if they lose Otani and Mookie Betts
16:35goes back at the leadoff spot, but then you're still fighting off the Padres and
16:38the Diamondbacks, something to watch. Now also, we're looking at two players that
16:42don't really have all that much, if any, success in the playoffs. So both of these
16:47guys got paid handsomely, specifically Otani. They're performing worth their
16:52weight in gold in the regular season. As we line up towards the playoffs, we don't
16:56anticipate a cooling off fury here, Dovesy, do we? Like don't we still expect
17:00these guys dominant in their game, heading into the playoffs to dominate on
17:05the biggest stage? And by the way, isn't it great to see Otani? He's going to be in
17:07the playoffs. How great is that? Yeah, and Otani just feels like he is a player
17:12who's going to lift to the occasion. We start with the Grand Slam there over the
17:16weekend to reach the 40-40 club. There's nothing too big for Otani. For Aaron
17:20Judge, I think he's going to step up to the mark. But situational analysis will
17:25judge continue to be put in the same spot from oppositions and have that
17:29chance to reach the greatness which the oddsmakers are trying to tease us with
17:33that he could potentially get to. You highlighted that earlier in the show.
17:37Judge may not have the same opportunities as Otani going through the
17:41back end of the season. I'm telling you, Judge hitting 333 on the season is
17:45absolutely astounding. We'll see what these two guys do down the stretch and
17:48the height that they can reach. You want to handicap some Major League Baseball
17:52with us? Come on back to the early line. We're starting that up next. Welcome back
17:56into the early line here on the sports grid. Dove Zandes alongside Donnie
18:00Wrightside and we're talking all things baseball. 15 games on tap out there on
18:05the Diamonds for your Wednesday afternoon and we're looking towards the
18:08late game. It's the Dodgers playing host to the Orioles. The Orioles got the
18:12score there last night and Donnie and taking a look at the numbers for this
18:15one projected to be a very close game right around a pick him here. It's the
18:21Dodgers going with Walker Bueller out there on the hill. It's Corbin Burns
18:25towing the slab for Baltimore. 80% of the money points towards the Dodgers. But
18:29how do you see this one shaping up? Yeah, I gotta tell you, Doves, it looks like
18:33it should be a pick him in this contest. You got Corbin Burns, the ace of the
18:36staff for the Orioles on the mound. But having said that, he hasn't been all
18:39that great as of late. And if you even take a look at his last 60 days, he's
18:42had 52 and two thirds innings pitch. How about an ERA of 5.30? That's not good
18:48enough yet. He was absolutely dominant to start the season, but now showing
18:52some signs of leakage here as of late. XFIP is okay at a 4.02. If we flip it
18:58over to the other side, Walker Bueller still trying to find his way here in
19:01this Major League Baseball season. 208 batters he's faced, an ISO of 249 and a
19:06weighted on base percentage of 400 against him. That's not good enough. If
19:10we go over the last 30 days, Doves, he's only faced 40 total batters. That's a
19:14250 ISO with a weighted on base percentage of 431 against. So something
19:18has to give. Either Walker Bueller is going to correct himself on the mound
19:21against a very good lineup, or we're going to see Corbin Bounds,
19:24Corbin Burns, excuse me, get back to what we saw at the early parts of the
19:28season. I'm willing to roll with the Dodgers at this price point for them
19:32being at home. I think they can bounce back from that loss yesterday and pick
19:36up a victory. The one thing that we need to see from the Orioles, though, is
19:40Corbin Burns has to get back to form if the Orioles want to be a player in the
19:44AL Pennant race.
19:46Expected to be a close one there. That's the late game down in Chavez
19:50Ravine. Let's take it back out to the bank. The Philadelphia Phillies taking
19:55on the Houston Astros, and it's the Phillies looking to sweep the three
19:59game series. A couple of starting arms who have been a little vulnerable to
20:03say the least. Spencer Arrighetti gets the start here for the Strohs with a
20:07494 ERA, and it's Taiwan Walker getting the ball there for the Phillies. It's
20:13Houston projected at minus 108. Okay, so very close to a pick him there with
20:17that market slightly changing. Expected to be another close game here this
20:21afternoon, Donny.
20:23Yeah, how about that to the first two games we pick out here? Massive
20:26implications in the standings, and we're not getting those massive numbers
20:29like minus 1 80 minus 1 75. Roughly a pick them on both sides. And how about
20:34this? Spencer Arrighetti to start his major league season wasn't very good,
20:38but he hasn't been that bad, particularly over the past 60 days here.
20:41We take a look at him. 51 2 3rd innings pitch an ERA at four, but an exit
20:45number that I love to pay attention to at a 3.75. It's very manageable. And
20:50even though the Philadelphia Phillies technically have come out of their
20:52shell of the past couple games, their numbers over the past month don't show
20:56them doing extremely well against right handed pitching. Kyle Schwerber and JT
21:00Ramuto. Similar to yesterday, we talked about still having the best numbers
21:04against right handed pitching. The rest of that lineup leaves a lot to be
21:07desired. Even though Arrighetti is not a fantastic pitcher, he has been
21:10performing well. As of late, you flip it over to the Philadelphia Phillies
21:13side with Taiwan Walker on the mound. He has been absolutely brutal on the
21:17season. 288 batters in totality. Now he did spend some time in the I. L. But a
21:222 48 Iso against and awaited on base percentage of 3 89. If we just look at
21:26the past 30 days, only 57 batters he's faced. But if you focus on the 26
21:32right handed batters that he went up against Dubsy, a 6 36 Iso and awaited
21:37on base percentage of 6 64. This might be the last stand for Taiwan Walker
21:43saying in that starting rotation. And this is a big game today. Maybe we get
21:47runs because also 95 degrees at first pitch at 405 today at Citizens Bank
21:53Park. We might be looking at runs here. Let's see that ball up for lion.
21:58Philly's trying to go back back. Let's take target with the Minnesota Twins.
22:04They're at home taking on the Braves from target field. And for the Braves,
22:08they've been playing some strong baseball. The twins, they're still right
22:11in the mix here, but I've had the skids whilst playing at home. It's the Braves
22:15of minus one minus 1 42. There are no surprises here, Donny. It's Chris
22:21sale telling the slab for the Braves a 1 0 2 whip. He knows how to keep that
22:27production down. You know, Chris sales been a good pitcher this entire season.
22:32We probably think between him and let you say Zach Wheeler coming down the
22:35stretch to win that Cy Young. So if I told you dubs on this card, I got 24
22:39pitchers rated over the past 60 days with at least 20 innings pitch. You
22:43know, his number one in the car today. It's not a surprise. It's Chris sale
22:46over the past 60 days has 54 innings pitched. How about an era of 2.33? How
22:51about an exit number 2.56? He has been absolutely fantastic. 78 degree
22:56temperatures in Minnesota today, wind blowing in around six miles per hour.
23:00But that's not the focus. I expect a big performance at a Chris sale. But
23:03how about if I told you by the guy name of David Festa that is on the mound
23:08today? You look at that number and say on the season hasn't looked really
23:12great in totality, but his last 30 days take a look at this 1 34 ISO against
23:18and awaited on base percentage of 2 82. Once again, getting back to the
23:21pitching charts today, 24 pictures rated on the car today. I told you
23:26sale was number one. Do you know who number three is? That's David Festa.
23:30His era. Yes, it is high at 4.60, but his analytical numbers coming in like
23:35the exit at a 3.24. He should be able to hang around now. My picking
23:39Minnesota to be Chris sale. No, I'm not at this point, but I would be
23:43surprised to be honest. If we get more than eight runs in this game,
23:46doves, I'll take the under in this one. A nicer look towards the unders there
23:52in Donny for the L Central. What a showdown we have between the Kansas
23:55City Royals in the Cleveland Guardians out to Ohio. We go. It looks like
24:01Cleveland holding favoritism for this one. It was the Royals who looked to
24:05found stride going on the road last three road games, three consecutive
24:09wins looking to make it a streak of four here today.
24:13Yeah, sometimes you've got to ride the streaking teams here. Doves. That's the
24:16way it is in the Kansas City rules are absolutely hot, but the Cleveland
24:18Guardians need a win in the absolute worst way. But I'm not so sure that
24:23they don't have the better picture on the mound today. If we take a look at
24:25Michael Walker, a 2.47 era over the past 60 days. How about Tanner Bybee
24:303.38? So slight advantage here to Kansas City in the era numbers and also
24:35in the analytical numbers by becomes on the mount here hasn't really struggled
24:39all that much over the past 30 days. A 1 35 iso against and waited on base
24:43percentage of 302. But what do we love about that Kansas City lineup? Look at
24:47the weighted on base percentages here of the first seven guys anticipated in
24:51the lineup tonight going up against right into pitching over the past 30
24:53days. 3 61 5 19 3 69 3 47 4 84 3 26 and 3 12 here. Sometimes Dubsy, you just
25:03gotta ride the hot hand and that right now is with those Kansas City Royals.
25:07Don't even try and fight it. The pirates with the best 80s numbers in the
25:12majors that came not too far away. Stick with us. Welcome back into the
25:16early line. Happy Wednesday. Dubs is alongside Donny right side getting you
25:21set for a fantastic hump day of baseball. 15 games out there on the
25:25diamond. Let's take it out to the desert. The Diamondbacks. They won six
25:29in a row. They dropped one last night to the Mets. Both teams searching for
25:34playoff base for a lot of motivation for this one. Luis Severino toes the
25:39slab out here this afternoon for the Mets and taking a look. I feel like
25:42we've got a lot of close games expected here from the oddsmakers. It's now the
25:46Diamondbacks taking favoritism minus 1 20 on the money line. Donny, I'll tell
25:52you about this one. If we're just looking at side advantages here, one
25:56through nine, it's got to be the Arizona Diamondbacks because matchups
25:59make these fights and we're talking about Luis Severino on the mound last
26:0230 days. 117 batters that he's faced a 2 19 iso and a weighted on base
26:06percentage of 3 64, which is high. Now take a look at this Diamondbacks lineup.
26:12If we're just going for you to take out Luis Guillerme out of this lineup.
26:15Look at this. Carol 4 17 McCarthy 4 37 Peterson 4 70 Bell 3 98 Gurriel 3 51
26:23Del Castillo 4 37 Suarez 4 23 Perdomo 4 70. This is an absolutely crazy order
26:30that has been damaging right handed pitching. Flip it over to the Mets
26:33perspective. You're dubbing. Take a look at Eduardo Rodriguez. He's actually
26:37struggled mightily with right handed batters as a left handed pitcher, which
26:40really isn't a surprise. But in this lineup today, Lindor, Alonso and
26:44Martinez have high isos and weighted on base percentages against left
26:48handed pitching over the past 30 days. The rest of that lineup hasn't shown
26:52up all that well. So I'm looking for a bounce back performance today out of
26:55the Arizona Diamondbacks would not be shocked again if this game does go over
26:59the total. Tony, I'm going to throw another one at you here. The Cardinals
27:03at home going against the Padres. San Diego been playing some fantastic
27:07baseball of the last couple of weeks. They're right in the mix here for the
27:11National League holding a wild card spot. They've now rattled off four of
27:14the last five and they get Joey Musgrove out there on the hill. What do
27:19we make of Musgrove and the chances here for the Padres who are booked as
27:23your favorites? Yeah, some rain in the forecast. You see that total at eight
27:27and a half. But let's take a look at some statistics here. Andre Palante
27:29will be on the mound of right handed pitcher for the Cardinals. If you look
27:32at his last 60 30 days, let's just go with the last month. 122 batters. He's
27:37faced an 0 55. Iso power number to weighted on base percentage of 2 62
27:42against. Now also keep in mind this Padres lineup. Dubbs. He is fantastic,
27:47particularly against right handed pitching over the past 30 days. Every
27:51single batter we anticipate to be in the lineup today all above average with
27:55the weighted on base percentages against right handed pitching. If we flip it
27:58over to Musgrove, his last 56 batters that he's faced in the past 30 days
28:03since coming back from the I. L. How about an 0 59? Iso and a weighted on
28:06base percentage of 1 78. So even though we're looking at a game tonight
28:10that's going to be played in ST Louis, give me the San Diego Padres. Better
28:14lineup. Better picture for me tonight. 15 games out there on the diamond. I
28:19tell you what, the first one fast approaching just a couple of hours away
28:23is the Pittsburgh Pirates at home taken on the Cubs and the Cubbies have been
28:28putting on some runs. It was 90. It was 18 in the first game of the series. It
28:33was 90 yesterday, but hey, all things start with Paul Skeens getting the
28:37start here for the Pirates. What's the expectations for the start? Will we see
28:41him out there for five innings moving into six? Possibly. We should. Let's
28:46talk about the Cubs Sunday afternoon. I was angry with them. Doves only scoring
28:50two runs, but you're right. They hit the gas pedal on Monday and Tuesday. Now
28:54looking to keep that momentum going today, but you're only as good momentum.
28:58We should say only is good for the starting pitcher going to face the next
29:01day, and that's Paul Skeens, one of the best in Major League Baseball. If we're
29:04lining up Skeens here on the season 401 batters, he's faced a 119 ISO against
29:10and a weighted on base percentage of 2 58. How about a strikeout percentage of
29:1433% between lefties and righties? It's amazing what he's done at his young age,
29:19but how many more times are we going to see him, particularly in the month of
29:23September? Even though the Chicago Cubs lineup does project very well to
29:26right-handed pitchers, but usually that's towards the average right-handed
29:30pitchers, not the excelling right-handed pitchers like Paul Skeens. Hendricks
29:33will be on the mound here for the Chicago Cubs. He's been okay to say best
29:37here. What you'd want to focus on from a Pittsburgh standpoint is maybe a
29:41left-handed batter or two to go up against Hendricks. Here's the issue. The
29:44left-handed batters in the lineup don't have great numbers against right-handed
29:48pitching over the past 30 days, so I'm looking to cool off that Cubs lineup
29:53here and maybe look towards an under between Chicago and Pittsburgh to start
29:57the day off at 12.35 Eastern today, Dubsy. If we look towards that game,
30:01Anders, can we look towards the overs for Paul Skeens? They've got him set at
30:056.5, minus 125 just towards the overs. I feel like this is a reasonable number
30:10for Paul Skeens, Donnie. Yeah, it is, and also he has to know that his time
30:15might be running out in the 2024 season, so leave it all out there on the mound.
30:20Let's see if he can get to that 100-pitch limit. If he does, he's probably
30:23going to come very close, if not surpass, that strikeout number here for us today,
30:27though.
