00:00Hello, OG! I'm Architect Louie. Welcome to Balay, Salangi, your tropical urban oasis located at Angeles City, Pampanga.
00:07And as the Kapampangan would say, Salangi ko po!
00:17So upon entering the gate, you will be greeted immediately by our outdoor pool, which has its own waterfall feature.
00:24And adjacent to this, we have an outdoor shower as well.
00:27So basically, our pool is made up of silica sand, which gives the turquoise blue color of our pool.
00:37So on the other side, we have a parking space which can accommodate up to three cars.
00:44Since the living area is more or less 80-90% open, some airborne particles, that's our problem here.
00:53The role of the waterfalls, it neutralizes the positive ions coming from the allergens that are airborne.
00:59That's why there's not much noise in here even if it's open.
01:03So that's the main use of our waterfalls, not just the aesthetics.
01:10So now, I welcome you to Balay, Salangi. Let's go!
01:14So this is our living area. We have this rattan furniture.
01:19We also have this jalousees because it promotes natural ventilation since most of the space is 90% open.
01:26Dito naman, we have this ceiling made entirely out of bamboo.
01:30So beneath that will be an open area para mas madaling iayusin yung mga utilities underneath the slab.
01:37When the pandemic happened, the Kabalian group of restaurants which my mother founded were severely affected during this period.
01:45One of our projects namin na nakitahan ko ng opportunity during the pandemic is the Villa Business.
01:51That's why Balay, Salangi came out to me.
01:58Dati siyang lumang bahay, inodernize namin into a tropical village.
02:03Inodernize namin into a tropical theme house.
02:06The tropical design suits the environment, natural ventilation, natural lights as much as possible.
02:12Nung nabili ko itong property, maraming trees around it.
02:16And we want to save those trees.
02:18So we need to build around them and make it hindi siya ganun kasikip din since medyo limited din yung space namin.
02:26Since it's built around a 260, I think, 260 square meter lot.
02:34Dito naman is yung dining area and the kitchen namin.
02:39So it's practically an open space planning.
02:42So dito sa dining area natin, we have this dining table made out of old acacia wood from the old Kabalian restaurants that we had.
02:50Tapos above it, you can see the artificial grass ceiling natin.
02:55It undulates from the inside going to the outside.
02:59This here, this kitchen that we have, this counter is made up actually of marble chips.
03:05So itong mga marble chips na to, sobran namin dito sa pool.
03:09So to make it more cost efficient, nilagay namin dito.
03:12And syempre para more natural looking sya and organic as well.
03:21Dito naman, this is our suite room.
03:25It's a one bedroom unit with its own toilet and bath.
03:34And this area, kung makikita nyo, we have these craps.
03:37These are called Inabel craps from La Union.
03:40We promote the advocacy of supporting the local craps from the Philippines.
03:50This is the access going to the pool area.
03:54So meron syang hallway dito made of marble chips din.
03:57And then you can also move around the area, go back to the dining.
04:04Actually we source out some of the materials locally, dito lang sa Pampanga.
04:08All the local artisans.
04:10The heritage design that we intend to use, yung parang bahay na bato.
04:15Mixture of stone and wood or other vernacular materials na ginagamit ng mga kapampangan
04:22during the early period of the Kapampangan era.
04:30So dito sa second floor, we also have this one bedroom unit
04:34that has its own toilet and bath as well.
04:37Basically same layout tayo sa baba using the Tigayon craps.
04:49So let's go here na dito sa barcada room natin.
04:52So kapan entering this area, meron tayong tinatawag naming loft suite.
04:56We have this four bunk beds.
04:58So yung mga bunk beds natin basically made out of tubular steel.
05:03Ito yung tinatawag naming welded mesh.
05:05So ginawa namin syang perforated para yung light coming from the outside
05:10can penetrate dito sa inside.
05:17So this here is our balcony area.
05:19We have access dito sa barcada room.
05:23So we extended this area to provide shade sa pool below.
05:30Actually, this balcony on top of the swimming pool,
05:33para hindi sya maging bare and para magurun sya ng corpus,
05:37naisip namin yung waterfalls with a rainforest effect para maging function yung balcony namin.
05:44So this stair leads to the loft area natin.
05:48We have this jalousie windows din to promote cross ventilation as well.
05:52So this is the loft area which also serves as a game room ng mga barcada.
05:57Meron tayong bar dito which overlooks dito sa bunk beds downstairs.
06:06Dito sa area na to will be a double size bed
06:10will be a double size bed.
06:12Para syang tatami style.
06:14And it opens up dito sa view sa arayat.
06:20So the total lot area for the whole compound is around 265 sqm.
06:25And then the floor area for Balesa Langi is around 260 sqm.
06:29You can book Balesa Langi for Php 15,000 to Php 18,000 per night depending on the season.
06:34So our next stop, my personal favorite, Balekuna. Come on!
06:41This one here, we call it Balekuna.
06:44So it just sits beside Balesa Langi.
06:47So it's intended for couples na gusto maging intimate din.
06:51Tara, asok tayo!
06:56So this door here, it acts as a double door.
07:00It adds security and privacy dito sa Balekuna.
07:03Tapos adjacent dito, makikita natin meron tayong indoor jacuzzi.
07:07Tapos it opens also dito sa area natin kung nasaan yung hammock natin sa taas.
07:12This here is our living area.
07:14So it can accommodate up to 2 to 4 people.
07:17Meron tayong mga tatami chairs dito.
07:19And this area also opens up dito sa high ceiling natin.
07:23Which has its own natural skylight or natural lighting dito sa area.
07:31So adjacent to the living area, meron tayong dining area dito.
07:36Complete amenities tayo kahit ganoon sya ka-compact.
07:41So this one here is our bathroom area.
07:43So what separates this bathroom area from all the other bathrooms sa Salangi is meron sya ang sariling skylight.
07:51This stairs leads all the way up to the bed area or yung locked area natin.
07:56So bakit ganito yung design ng stairs natin?
07:58It's basically a fusion of a ladder and a stair.
08:01Since sobrang compact ng space and masyadong steep yung ascend mo,
08:06we make it to a point na easily pa rin yung pag-step mo dito.
08:11So once you ascend up the stairs, meron tayong natural lighting.
08:17So we designed this particularly na naka-align dito sa stairs natin.
08:22Syempre, sa type of configuration na stairs na ito dahil sobrang steep,
08:26kailangan natin na well-illuminated sya.
08:32Dito sa bed area natin, meron tayong twig backboard or twig headboard.
08:38So these twigs basically, tinatapon na twigs lang ng mga neighbors namin.
08:42Parang in-upscale namin into something that is more aesthetic.
08:50The construction cost that we had with this design ranges from mostly 10 to 12 million pesos.
08:59It covers both the houses, Balay Salangi and Balay Kuna as well.
09:08So this one here is the best part of Balay Kuna.
09:11So this hammock bed is 100% safe.
09:14It can accommodate up to 4 people at max.
09:17Kung makikita nyo, opening yung hammock bed natin dun sa jacuzzi sa baba.
09:26Balay Kuna is around 50 square meters in size.
09:28And we have this daily rate that ranges from 4,000 to 6,000 pesos a night.
09:33So the capacity for this place is around 4 to 6 persons at max.
09:38You can bring along syempre your fur babies because we're definitely pet friendly.
09:46So that ends our tour.
09:48Hope you guys learned something from our Kapampangan culture.
09:50And if you guys wanna book this place, you can visit our Instagram and Facebook page, Balay Salangi.
09:55Hope to see you soon and dakal salamat!
