00:00Hello Uji, I'm Patty and we're now here in San Juan, Botangas.
00:04Let me show you around my family's paradise, Bufi Farm.
00:16Bufi Farm is actually a total of 1 hectare and as you can see around it are many coconut trees that we like to harvest from and drink from during our meals.
00:26Now over here, we have a swing set designed specifically for my niece where she likes to play a lot and it was actually designed by my dad specifically just for her.
00:36Here we also have a small bahay kubo just for her and we have a lot of kitchen sets that kids like her would love to play with.
00:44And lastly, we have a pool. My family and I really love night swimming here and one fond memory that I share is when I actually saw my niece swim for the first time, it was a really fond experience for all of us.
00:57It was really full of laughter, full of fun and the entire family enjoyed it.
01:06Okay, so let's move on to one of the two main houses here in Bufi Farm.
01:10So this is called Bahay Haner, named after my dad, Janer.
01:13So just to explain the exterior, this house was inspired by the old Spaniard houses called Bahay na Bato where in the ground floor would be made out of stone.
01:23In our case, it's adobe and the second floor would be made out of wood.
01:27In this case, ours is called bandeja.
01:29So if you can notice, there are ventanillas and these serve as our primary air condition system just to keep the cool air in.
01:38And just like many of the old houses, these take inspiration from Spaniard, Filipino, European and later on American influences as well.
01:50My father was actually really interested in the concept of antique houses and would always tell me stories about Philippine culture and Philippine history and I think that really translated into how he designed this property.
02:08Okay, so now we move into the inside of Bahay Haner and as I think you can notice, the ventilation here is a lot cooler, care of the tiny windows that we have surrounding the place.
02:19So like what I mentioned outside, this house has a lot of Filipino and European influences.
02:24Let me just show you a few of them.
02:26So actually, the bed frame over there, this table, these chairs are all actually made out of nara and the white details, don't be mistaken, these aren't just paintings.
02:36These are actually bone inlays from authentic carabao bones.
02:40Over here, you can see a tea set inspired by European influences, so are the light fixtures.
02:51So now moving on to the next portion of this bedroom, over there we have a very vintage looking fan, very fit to the aesthetic of Bahay Haner.
03:00Over here, we have sungka, which is a very classic Filipino game.
03:04And of course, over here, we have the double sized bed framed by nara wood and the carabao bone inlays.
03:12And fun fact, this bedroom is actually surrounded by what is called sinepa, which helps the ventilation of this house.
03:21So here in Bahay Haner, we actually have two bathrooms and this is one of them.
03:27As you can see, the shower and the faucet fixtures are very reminiscent of the old Filipino houses, the murals that was painted on top of the bathroom.
03:36My dad actually wanted it to have it there, especially after our vegan trip where he would see murals painted on the walls in the old Filipino houses and wanted to replicate that for our houses as well.
03:49So a little fun fact about us, my mother's great-grandparents were actually Don Perfecto Jacinto and Doña Trinidad Palma.
03:59And the latter was actually the daughter of Jose Palma, who was the lyricist of Lupang Hinirang.
04:04So we really wanted to pay tribute to that ancestor of ours through this property.
04:10As you might have seen from the outside, Bahay Haner actually has two floors.
04:14So now that we've covered the ground floor, let's climb up to the second.
04:21So over here is the second floor of Bahay Haner and as you can see, it's a lot more spacious over here.
04:27We even have space for a breakfast nook and a cabinet.
04:31And if you're wondering, this is a total of 50 square meters of both the ground floor and the upper floor.
04:41So over here in Bahay Haner, we actually installed a balcony here on the second floor.
04:45And my parents installed this because they simply wanted to see their grandchildren playing along the green fields over there or even in the small bahay kubo over here.
04:54And of course, the pool is also in view where we all gather here sometimes.
04:58Here is arguably the best view at Bufi Farm.
05:01And all of this could be enjoyed while sipping a cup of coffee or hot chocolate here on this floor.
05:07And over here is the other double-sized bed.
05:13Here is one of the other bathrooms of Bahay Haner.
05:16So the difference with this is that we opted for a sliding door to maximize the space.
05:20But essentially, the inside stays the same with the murals and the fixtures inspired by old Filipino houses.
05:30My family actually bought this property back in 2007, but it wasn't until 10 years later in 2009 that we bought it.
05:40My family actually bought this property back in 2007, but it wasn't until 10 years later in 2017 that they actually started building different leisure properties around the lot.
05:53Their entire life, my parents were always in the corporate setting and wanted to look for a place to relax and take refuge.
06:01And they decided that San Juan Batangas would be the best place for that.
06:10So now we move on to one of the other main houses here at Bufi Farm.
06:14This is Bahay Trinidad and it is named after my mother whose name is Maria Trinidad Jacinta Bufi.
06:21So if you're wondering about the exterior of this house, it's actually pretty similar to Bahay Haner.
06:26The silong over here is made out of stone and the first floor is made out of wood.
06:36Alright, so let's go inside.
06:40So upon entering, you'll notice that what Bahay Trinidad has that is different from Bahay Haner is this balcony over here.
06:47And what makes this special is that it's actually a wraparound balcony and continues all the way to the other side of the house.
06:57Alright, so now we're inside Bahay Trinidad and as you might notice, it's a lot bigger than Bahay Haner, standing at 60 square meters in total.
07:07So over here, we have a space for a dining table. Right over here, we have a space for a loft which can be used as a sleeping quarters.
07:15So over here in Bahay Trinidad, we actually feature a much higher ceiling than in Bahay Haner.
07:21And it is what my dad likes to call a cathedral ceiling to mimic a bigger space here inside.
07:27And of course, over here we have the fun area where we feature a lot of classic Filipino games.
07:33We have dragstone, chess, sungka.
07:36You can't forget the other vintage appliances that we feature over here.
07:40We have a radio and this vinyl record right to my side.
07:46So here in Bahay Trinidad, we actually have three bedrooms.
07:49Actually, the loft that you can see over there is counted as one.
07:52So let's go and explore the other.
07:57Okay, so this is one of the other bedrooms here in Bahay Trinidad.
08:01So over here, we have another double-sized bed.
08:04And over here, we have paintings from various Filipino artists.
08:08And of course, don't forget another very typical accent of the old Filipino culture.
08:14We have a vintage typewriter just to immerse yourself in the old practices that we had back in the day.
08:20So this is one of the other bathrooms here in Bahay Trinidad.
08:23And this actually connects to the other bedroom that we have connecting to the outside of the house.
08:31So let's go!
08:38So here we have the other bedroom in Bahay Trinidad.
08:41It's a lot more simpler than the one we showed you earlier.
08:44It has a bunk bed, but what makes it special is that it actually has access to the balcony over here.
08:51And this actually marks the end of the wraparound design that I mentioned earlier.
09:01And that's a wrap on our tour here at Bufi Farm.
09:04I hope you guys enjoyed it.
