Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective Friday The 13th Part 3 Jason Voorhees Figure Re Review
Transcript
00:00 Mezco went sightseeing and stopped off at Camp Crystal Lake. Here's your
00:05 relook at a Mezco toys Friday the 13th part 3 the 112 collective Jason Voorhees.
00:11 (intro music)
00:37 campers beware Jason Voorhees from Friday 13th part 3 joins the 112
00:42 collective the 112 collective Jason Voorhees figure includes two menacingly
00:45 detailed head portraits and two removable hockey masks Jason's axe
00:49 accessory fits neatly into the gash on the wounded head as well as the crack in
00:52 this hockey mask recreating the iconic finale from Friday 13th part 3 the
00:56 infamous Crystal Lake killers outfitted authentically from the film Jason comes
01:01 complete with every weapon used in the film an axe a machete a cleaver a wrench
01:05 a fire poker knife and spear gun nothing worse than when your summer getaway won't
01:10 let you get away just before we get a closer look at the 112 collective Jason
01:14 Voorhees yes we have looked at this figure before but have gotten quite a
01:17 lot of requests to go back and look at this figure again the tape measure is
01:20 first to tell us that he's actually about six inches in height in fact
01:23 actually is exactly six inches tall and that works out to be a figure that's 15
01:27 centimeters in height here's a couple of other characters that would make
01:30 getting away quite hard first here's what Jason Voorhees looks like with a
01:33 112 collective Texas chainsaw massacre leatherface escaping your dreams would
01:37 be quite hard because this guy here's what he also looks like with the
01:39 nightmare on Elm Street Freddy Krueger also from the 112 collective and then
01:43 the space off to the side here freed up so I could bring in a neck of toys
01:46 Friday 13th Jason Voorhees just to give you a scale idea of how much smaller the
01:50 112 collective are just before we actually move over to Jason's
01:53 accessories the things that usually come include with 112 collective figures
01:56 first of all you get yourself a display stand although usually it's not the case
01:59 that you get a Friday 13th part 3 and you don't get Jason Voorhees behind the
02:02 shower curtain but the size of the stand is usually always the same you get
02:06 yourself a peg that can plug into either one of actually his boots if you look at
02:09 actually the bottoms of his boots he does have peg holes you just plug the
02:12 figure onto the display stand with horror figures like this I usually just
02:15 end up plugging them onto the display stand but he also does as well get an
02:19 adjustable neck the adjustable neck doesn't really make much sense I feel
02:22 for Jason it's not like he's gonna be leaping up in the air but you could
02:25 really clip this around the figures waist this just then plugs onto the
02:27 display stand you just have to pop off the peg and if you look at the bottom of
02:31 it the peg is on the top but then there's a hole on the bottom if you
02:34 take the end of the peg that's from the adjustable neck and just push it all the
02:38 way through it really helps then to free the peg on the other side then just
02:41 remove the neck then plug it in back onto the top and now you guys have an
02:46 adjustable neck that then can wrap around Jason's waist again for the size
02:50 of the stand it just doesn't make any sense to be displayed along Jason
02:53 Voorhees this way so I usually then just rely on the peg and that's why it's
02:56 always a good idea make sure you don't lose that peg the figure also as well
02:59 comes in clue with a little baggie this is always usually the case with the 112
03:02 collective figures just a little storage baggie they store all the accessories
03:06 that come in clue with them short of then having to put it back always into
03:08 the tray if you are one that usually has like a storage location I don't have a
03:12 storage location my storage location is in the basement but I know a lot of
03:15 collectors that usually have like a storage locker it's just it's a lot
03:18 easier just to store everything in the bag so if you ever really need it you
03:21 don't have to go back to the box every single time Jason comes included with
03:25 every imaginable weapon he would have had in Friday 13th part 3 we're gonna
03:29 run through each one of them and you may notice a common trend is that all of
03:32 them seem to be covered in blood the knife first of all not sharp luckily at
03:36 least it's not gonna be drawn my own blood does that as you can see have a
03:39 nice stain of blood on the bottom of the blade the actual handle is nicely
03:43 painted they got the little silver rivets there and the end of the
03:47 handle is also nicely painted in silver it's a really nice looking knife not one
03:51 that I'm probably gonna be going with when it comes to displaying the figure
03:53 but still nice included accessory nonetheless the figure as well comes
03:57 included with cleaver yes the trend continues you can see the stain of the
04:00 blood down below here this actual cleaver looks a little bit more rusted
04:04 unlike the knife more now a brown handle you've got again a little gold rivet
04:08 points there that actually sandwich the either side of the wooden handle it's a
04:11 really again nice looking cleaver figure as well comes in clue with the wrench
04:14 and you may stop for a second say I don't see any blood I think there's
04:19 actually blood like right around here the adjustable wrench doesn't actually
04:23 adjust it's just molded here in black in plastic black on the end of the handle
04:26 nice red handle I love the way they've added a little bit of scratchings onto
04:29 there so it looks like the wrench is pretty old the figure as well comes in
04:34 clue with his harpoon gun which I suppose is one thing that isn't covered
04:38 in blood because he hasn't yet fired it it still has the actual harpoon built
04:41 inside the gun it doesn't it actually hasn't been fired off yet you can see
04:45 the way that they've got the elastic straps here painted nicely here in brown
04:48 other than that it looks to be cast here in black plastic when I have displayed
04:53 Jason Voorhees usually on my shelf he tends to easily either be displayed here
04:57 with a harpoon gun or the next accessory and the next accessory just happens to
05:01 be a pitchfork the pitchfork again does have blood across each one of the
05:04 individual teeth and again it's got a brown handle it's a really nice looking
05:09 again nice little pitchfork the only thing about it though is you can see
05:12 that the end of the teeth the actual prongs of the fork are a little more of
05:16 a softer plastic you just want to be careful that these don't actually break
05:19 usually I would display this with Jason Voorhees when it comes to displaying
05:22 this guy on the shelf and up to this point because this is a re-review of the
05:25 figure I have actually displayed the figure with the the pitchfork might
05:29 maybe be line it back maybe to the harpoon gun I really like the way of
05:32 actually displaying the figure with the pitchfork just because we keep me he
05:36 makes a couple of kills in the in the barn using the pitchfork the figure as
05:40 well comes included with also as the axe the axe is actually very similar in
05:44 colorish color scheme to the cleaver kind of more of a darker gun mineral
05:47 gray again you got the blood on the end of the blade and the actual handle does
05:51 have a nice little wood grain to it the figure as well comes include the fire
05:56 poker if I can actually pick the fire poker up now again some of the placement
06:00 of the blood doesn't quite really gel to me I mean obviously the blood on the end
06:04 makes perfect sense but then it's just got these random places of blood just
06:07 kind of on I guess in a way sort of the pitchfork is also the same way it kind
06:11 of gives us kind of bit of a candy cane striping it doesn't really make much
06:14 sense but I guess they wanted to be at least a little liberal when it comes to
06:18 the paint applications and I will say at least for all the accessories they're
06:21 quite covered in blood and then the last thing probably the go-to weapon for many
06:25 collectors would probably be displaying the figure with the machete machete
06:28 machete again has more darker gun metal gray a little bit of nice added silver
06:32 and of course you got that got a little bit of blood down below there as well
06:36 stop joking about that handle again looks really good on this all of the
06:39 weapons can easily be weld by the gripping hand they currently has on the
06:42 ends of his forearms you don't have to swap them out right away if you did
06:46 though want to swap them out the figure also comes in clear with a couple of
06:48 gestured hands I really like the look of these hands what I have done in the past
06:52 is had the figure displayed with like already mentioned the pitchfork and then
06:56 usually then just give him a gestured hand on the other side changing the
06:59 hands from where he has right now I mean obviously first of all if you guys want
07:02 to have him displayed with any one of the weapons the plastic on the hands are
07:05 pretty soft so it's very very easy to actually get any one of the weapons into
07:09 Jason's grabs into his Jason's grasp a really nice really nice way of displaying
07:14 the figure and with all the articulation that these figures actually do possess
07:17 it's very easy to get this guy in some pretty cool looking poses now that's the
07:21 machete I'll show you guys what he looks like with a harpoon gun again the harpoon
07:25 gun there is really a dedicated hand for specifically holding the gun but you
07:29 could easily use any one of the gripping hands and again it's just a case of
07:32 getting that in his hand like that and you could just have him displayed whoops
07:37 dropping his hand in the process just plug that back in place there you go you
07:41 can have the figure displayed as he is at the end of the pier looks good like I
07:47 said the figure also comes included with a couple of other hands as well
07:50 specifically a hand for holding the set how her prune gun the difference is is
07:55 the fact that you can see the end of this one does have now a finger sticking
07:57 out that's supposed to wrap around the trigger so if you take yourself the
08:00 harpoon gun fit it in between his grip just like that wiggle it down it actually
08:05 fits perfectly around the trigger you got the figure displayed that way and
08:08 then the last thing that the figure comes included with as well is this hand
08:12 here which is basically just more of a relaxed hand each of the fingers as you
08:15 can see are very rubbery plastic makes holding the hands very easily and are
08:20 actually holding any of the accessories very easy but again like just to pop out
08:23 any one of the hands just a case of holding onto the forearm removing said
08:27 hands and then taking let's take let's take one of these gestured hands and
08:31 then it's just a case of plugging it back onto the peg none of these hands by
08:35 the way do come included with their own dedicated pegs and funny enough though
08:38 it doesn't seem that Mezco included extra additional pegs so if those pegs
08:42 happen to break you might be just out of luck the last accessory that the figure
08:46 comes included with as well is the battle damaged head sculpt I know we
08:49 haven't yet really looked at the head that's underneath the mask but this is
08:52 the one that does have of course the gash on the top from it left behind from
08:55 the axe and then he also goes with a dedicated mask that goes over top of it
08:59 the thing about it though is that while the head sculpt looks really good I
09:02 don't think I'd ever really display the figure with it it does though easily fit
09:06 over top of his head you just slide the mask down the only thing I would say
09:11 from a critical standpoint is if you look at the eyes even if you have the
09:14 mask all the way down it doesn't look like it quite lines up with the eyes
09:17 themselves so it looks like Jason just has the mask completely covering his
09:20 vision but if you line up the gash accordingly you can take yourself the
09:23 axe the axe just sits inside the wound and sits also inside the crack of the
09:29 head and there you go you can have the figure display as you see at the end of
09:32 the movie nice little added touch it does actually stay in there quite well
09:37 too so you could tilt it upside down it doesn't look like the axe is gonna be
09:40 going anywhere unfortunately again if you look at it the eyes don't quite line
09:44 themselves up with the eye sockets for the hockey mask so it does look like
09:48 Jason's just walking around blind if you did want to change out the head though
09:52 first of all kind of go back and look at the default at head sculpt here Jason's
09:55 defaulted head actually looks really good here he's got sort of a large head
10:00 there on the back very large and thick neck there and he's got the very large
10:03 chunky shoulders on the sides none of these by the way are relying on on
10:08 padding there's no padding actually on Jason they just beefed up the body by
10:11 adding some much-needed additional plastic if you were to just bring back
10:14 the color for example you can see like the shoulders are just all sculpted
10:18 plastic so I'm glad to see that they didn't just rely on padding on the on
10:21 the actual shirt itself hockey mask does look good on Jason here get the
10:25 chevrons nicely painted there on the sides and then one in the course in the
10:28 middle the coloring isn't quite white either there's a little bit of off
10:31 yellowing to it of course it like in the movie though you can easily take the
10:36 hockey mask off revealing his ugly mug underneath and to show you the difference
10:42 between the two let's just go ahead and take the hockey mask off the other one
10:45 it isn't also just the case that they took this head sculpt just added a gash
10:49 to it and added the additional blood on the side they actually changed his
10:52 expression as well and to change the heads it's just a case of also just
10:57 popping that off the ball joint you would look at this and just assume that
11:00 the ball joint being so big it would be difficult to remove the heads and it's
11:03 actually not the case at all the head just pops back in place very very easily
11:07 and then you can have the figure displayed as he's seen running out
11:09 running out from the barn at the very end of the movie if really given again
11:15 the choice unless I had a second one of these and with the prices of what these
11:18 things were going for now probably not gonna be giving up getting myself a
11:22 second one but if given the choice I usually just end up be lining it back to
11:25 displaying the figure with the hockey mask but I think that both head sculpts
11:28 are really well painted let's go ahead and just pop that off right now pop the
11:33 back the head sculpt back in place and then just return the hockey mask over
11:36 top of Jason's head you can also have it like he sees as he's of course he's got
11:40 the noose around his neck you can also have it where the hockey mask slides its
11:43 way up his face you can also have it displayed that way as well for the
11:47 actual outfit that he's wearing it's pretty close to the way he looks in the
11:51 in the actual movie I will say like the green looks a little too forced green I
11:54 think it would be a little bit lighter than that the pants are pretty close in
11:57 color but Jason comes across a little on the squatter side if you were to say to
12:01 compare them next to the leather face that we've already had a look at I mean
12:04 leather face was also a squat character I think a lot of it can be contributed
12:08 to the length of their legs the torsos aren't so bad but the length of the leg
12:11 kind of ends up resulting in the figures kind of looking a little squat the he
12:16 does have the hump there on the back of the figures body in fact actually if you
12:19 just move the collar piece down you can actually see how much sculpting Mezco
12:23 actually put into this piece it's a really nice looking figure part of me
12:26 would just really love to be able to take the shirt off and show you guys
12:28 what it looks like underneath but the shirt is actually sewn completely shut
12:31 the collar is fairly high and actually proportionally to looking at the rest
12:35 of the figures body the collar seems like it's a little too big as these also
12:39 don't go completely into the ends of the hands they sit up a little bit higher
12:43 but you can also see as well they sculpted just as much the the arms as
12:47 they did the hands it's a nice looking figure and of course he's got his big
12:50 clunky boots down down below as well if you actually lift up the boots they
12:55 aren't quite shoes they're actually full fully realized boots and some decent
12:59 art again articulation in there as well we'll kind of look at that and more in a
13:02 moment for the figures articulation boy that didn't take that time that take
13:05 that long at all the figures head sculpt is gonna be on a ball joint and even
13:09 though it's only just on a ball joint I think there's actually a second ball
13:12 joint right inside the cavity of the neck so it does actually give them quite
13:16 a range of motion you can move the head down this far you can have it moving up
13:19 that high you can also move it back and forth and of course you can rotate it
13:23 all the way around Jason's shoulders come out at about 90
13:27 degrees maybe a little bit even higher than 90 degrees you can take those arms
13:30 and move them forward you can move them back the figure does have a bicep
13:35 swivel seems to have a double hinge on the elbow and the hands do rotate all
13:39 the way around and get them all the way around upper torso is going to be on a
13:43 ball joint the lower torso is also on a ball joint and you can also see as well
13:47 they even took the time to add the belt nice little touch there as well like
13:51 split out and again like if you're looking at this proportionately I think
13:54 this is the thing that kind of ruins the figure is just if you look at the legs
13:57 the legs start down here kind of really do look a little short when you compare
14:01 it to the rest of the figures body top of the legs swivel there's a double
14:05 hinge there on the knee and again there's the articulation there on the
14:08 ankle both up and down this way and back and forth this way as well the Jason is
14:13 a good-looking figure missed opportunity I really feel that Mezco didn't decide
14:17 to release this guy in NES colors because if they've released them in NES
14:19 colors if you know me well enough by now I would have jumped at the chance to
14:23 grab that figure this is by the way also the only time we've gotten ourselves a
14:26 112 collective Jason Voorhees they have just very selectively chosen Friday 13th
14:31 part 3 to be there Jason Voorhees but they have yet to do any other figure
14:34 based around that I mean with usually being the case with the 112 collective
14:38 we usually only get one figure so like for example we only got the one Friday
14:42 13th or one nightmare in Elm Street nightmare in Elm Street Freddy Krueger
14:45 and as you can see that that's based on nightmare in Elm Street part 1 because
14:49 of course he doesn't have the notable stripes on his sleeves and we only got
14:51 the 174 a leather face whether we will get any future sequel figures in the 112
14:57 collective design I certainly hope is the case I hope it's just not a case of
15:00 one and we're done we're not gonna be doing any more of them because I would
15:03 love to have seen them maybe do a follow-up version to Jason Voorhees or
15:07 maybe a Jason from either four five hey even six but I don't know if that's
15:11 gonna be something that they're gonna do or even if they even just have the
15:14 licensing anymore they are nice on you figures but unfortunately if you missed
15:17 your chance to get the Jason the first time around he's kind of going for some
15:20 crazy stupid money now I did actually end up selling one of my figures the
15:24 original 78 Michael Myers and now just to go back and try to track one down I
15:29 think he's well into 200 250 I've even seen one for about $300 if you're lucky
15:33 enough to grab him at the time that they first came out they were a little over
15:36 $100 here in Canada I'm still glad I held on to a lot of these there are a
15:40 little outdated I mean I feel like with Jason Voorhees like the head is a little
15:44 on the larger side he's got slightly squatter looking lower legs but he's
15:48 still a nice-looking figure and I will say like with the 112 collective even
15:51 though you are paying a lot more for the figures you do at least I feel get your
15:54 money's worth with the amount of accessories that they throw in not to
15:57 mention the way they've tailored the clothing all of the clothing on all the
16:00 three figures that you're looking at right now are all top-notch of course if
16:03 you are interested to pick yourself up the 112 collective Jason Voorhees you
16:07 missed your chance the first time around this guy circulated around in comic book
16:10 stores just checking online over on eBay I'm seeing the prices they're usually
16:14 sitting at around a hundred and thirty to about a hundred and eighty dollars
16:17 accordingly depending on what seller is selling them not a bad price I mean
16:21 obviously he's gonna be paying a little bit more than the original asking price
16:24 I think and usually the US the 112 collective figures are sitting around 80
16:27 to 85 here in Canada they tend to be about a hundred and ten to about a
16:31 hundred and fifteen dollars so of course here in Canada we always pay through the
16:34 roof nice-looking figure though I mean he looks a little dated but not to the
16:38 point where I feel like the figure stands out as compared to the save the
16:42 recently looked at Michael Myers or even like the pyramid head two figures I
16:45 didn't end up actually bringing in for comparison's sake I do like to look at
16:48 Jason he's a little on the squat side of course when you look at the proportions
16:51 of his lower half when you compare him up to the upper half of his body but he
16:55 still is pretty posable figure and he's got quite a lot of accessories I know I
16:58 have in the past bashed the 112 collective figures being overly
17:01 expensive when really the retro cloth figures we've gotten from NECA toys I
17:05 mean what do they tend to be they're like like 30 to 60 dollars so they're
17:09 about half the price of what 112 collective are usually asking but I will
17:13 say though the 112 collective have impressed me over the years with giving
17:16 us a really well tailored outfit on all of these characters decent head sculpts
17:20 and a ton of accessories if that's all that you're asking from a line you know
17:24 again with usually the import figures too as well I mean sh figure arts figures as
17:28 an example I mean not that they've really tackled much in the way of horror
17:31 but they usually on their own are sitting at that run 130 140 dollars
17:35 here in Canada so 112 collective are usually within line with those have you
17:39 had the chance been collecting any of the 112 collective figures did you get
17:42 the chance to get yourself the Jason Voorhees and if if you have how do you
17:45 guys have this guy displayed in your shelf still I feel a missed opportunity
17:48 on Mezco's part not to release this guy in the NES colors man if they had
17:52 released that guy in NES Jason colors I would have picked that guy up in a
17:55 heartbeat but we only have just the one release for right now right now let's
17:59 hope we get a future release down the road if you guys did enjoy this video
18:03 want to hit it a like if you guys are of course loving the content you guys are
18:06 seeing I know we have sort of covered off most all the 112 collective horror
18:10 figures I mean I'm looking over at Freddy here I feel like Freddy is long
18:13 overdue for a re-review you guys like to see that let me know down below in the
18:17 comment section but also as well make sure you hit that subscribe button down
18:20 below making sure you turn on the bell notification and the most important
18:23 thing of course is that you're coming back here on a regular basis as always
18:26 guys thanks for watching see you guys next time
