Spirit Halloween Michael Myers Halloween II Light-Up Pumpkin Statue
Transcript
00:00Not only did he change the face of Halloween, but apparently pumpkins too.
00:05Here's your spooky spot on the Spirit Halloween Halloween II Michael Myers light-up pumpkin statue.
00:11Illuminate the night with terror, this officially licensed Michael Myers light-up pumpkin statue from Halloween II is hauntingly detailed.
00:36Featuring the chilling face of the iconic slasher Michael Myers glowing eerily, it's the perfect way to add a spine-tingling touch to your Halloween decor or horror collection.
00:46And here you are thinking that you've been trick-or-treated to death.
00:49Along comes an officially licensed Halloween II prop replica depicting the jack-o'-lantern from the original movie poster.
00:55The first thing that we're going to do before we discuss the things that are wrong with mine, we're going to grab the tape measure and we're going to see how tall this stands.
01:01Now if we go right to the very top of the stem of the pumpkin, you're looking at it being nine and a half or about nine and three quarters of an inch in height or roughly 24 centimeters tall.
01:10Okay, so let's discuss the jack-o'-lantern in the room.
01:13The problem with mine is it arrived damaged.
01:15But if we take a few steps back from that, the biggest problem was the fact that this wasn't even available at Canadian stores.
01:21I checked to three individual Spirit Halloweens and the same result happened with each case.
01:26I went looking around the shelf to see if this thing was available.
01:29When it wasn't, I went up to the front desk and I said, excuse me, do you have a Halloween II prop replica of the jack-o'-lantern from the movie poster?
01:36Of course, I probably had to word it a little bit differently, but it basically yielded the same result from each of the individual people.
01:42They all basically looked at one another and they said, well, we don't really know what that is.
01:46I had to show them the image of what it looked like directly pulled from Spirit Halloween's site and the same result.
01:51Again, I don't think we're ever really going to get that in.
01:55So the likelihood of me being able to order it directly from the store and just pick it up there wasn't going to happen.
01:59So obviously the next thing would have been to go to Spirit Halloween's site directly.
02:03Where normally, obviously I would have to pay a little bit more because I was getting it directly from a U.S. site.
02:08Unfortunately, though, completely sold out.
02:10Not even really showing a listing that was going to be restocked either.
02:13This thing was completely emptied out on their website.
02:16So I had to check around to places like the Facebook group and there's been one or two that have popped up from here, here and there.
02:23But then they've immediately sold out.
02:25I had to then check over on eBay, which was the place I ended up picking this one up.
02:28And sure enough, as I picked this one up, I went to another Spirit Halloween that just opened up nearby in my city.
02:33And they had one available on the shelf.
02:36But I think somebody had already ordered it online and tried to return it to the store.
02:39Because the whole back section of the pumpkin is completely caved in.
02:43It was marked and it was saying that it was being marked down by the manager.
02:46I think they were offering up probably like a 15% discount.
02:49I thought to myself, well, you know, it's tempting to grab this now.
02:52But I already have one arriving in the mail.
02:54So I'm just going to wait it out.
02:55Because I'm probably going to get a better looking pumpkin anyways arriving to me in the mail.
03:00Now, again, I want to say that this statue is made of poly resin and stone powder.
03:06It's very fragile.
03:08And it's that type of thinner material that the moment if anything bangs against it, it's going to cave the pumpkin completely in.
03:14Because the inside of it is completely hollow.
03:16Anybody want to take a guess how it arrived to me?
03:19It arrived to me in a cardboard box with only this being the only available filler that the seller put inside the box.
03:26This. This is all you're looking at right now.
03:29I'm not fibbing you at all.
03:31You would think somebody selling this online with the idea that this is something that could be fragile and breakable.
03:36They would probably have wrapped it up maybe with bubble wrap.
03:39Maybe. I don't know.
03:40And maybe stored it inside the box carefully marking outside that it was fragile.
03:43No. The gentleman literally just threw it in the box.
03:45Maybe for all I know, he did throw it in the box.
03:47Put it in the box and then wrapped it with what little paper you just saw now.
03:51When I got it home, it was rattling.
03:53And I thought, it can't be the pumpkin.
03:55Maybe I've ordered something else.
03:57No. Sure enough.
03:58Cut open the box.
03:59I opened this up.
04:00And the whole front pumpkin was literally caved in.
04:02This whole area right here was completely missing on the front of the pumpkin.
04:06And what I was looking at was the inner chasm of what would have been the pumpkin body.
04:10This part was broken.
04:12This part was broken.
04:14And a few little fragments on the side of the face where the cheek is were sitting inside loose inside the box.
04:19I've done my best to kind of glue everything back together.
04:22But I'll show you.
04:23I mean, looking at it is only going to continue to bother me.
04:26I'm hoping that at some point Spirit Halloween happens to stock more of these.
04:29Or I just happen to go to a store and they happen to have one.
04:32One is really all I need.
04:34When you do get this pumpkin on the shelf, one of the things I also want to really complain about too.
04:37And I really don't want to turn this video into such a complaint.
04:39Because the pumpkin is fantastic.
04:42The problem with it though is not only the fact that it's polyresin.
04:45I feel like this could have also been done with a foam appliance piece.
04:48Rather than this being like, you know, it's polyresin.
04:51I think also second of all, Spirit Halloween should have boxed this inside of its own factory box.
04:56Spirit Halloween has done things with a whole lot less valuable collectibles.
05:00Where they put it inside of a box.
05:01They put it inside of a clamshell case that slides inside the cardboard box.
05:04They go all out.
05:06This pumpkin literally is sold where it's sitting on the shelf as you're seeing it right now.
05:11Which is kind of good if you can get it home in one piece.
05:13But then think down the road if you ever want to put this thing away.
05:16Say you only put this out for Halloween and you want to store it away.
05:19Where are you going to put it?
05:20Because it doesn't come with its original box.
05:22You could pack it in a little bit more carefully than the seller that sold it to me packed it.
05:26But it should have really had its own original factory box.
05:31Let's just show you guys.
05:32By the way, this had a little tag on the side.
05:35The tag for me doesn't even work.
05:36There's a try me button.
05:37There's an on and off and a try me on the bottom of this.
05:40I'll show you guys where that is in a second.
05:41But this just attaches to the top of the little, I don't know what you call it, the little spout there.
05:46The stem of the pumpkin.
05:47And if we tip this up carefully.
05:49Yeah.
05:50You can see all the damage down here.
05:52Just want to remove this.
05:54Had it maybe worked, I would have maybe entertained the idea of probably keeping this always on.
05:58I would have just probably removed the tag and just keep the button so that I could go up periodically.
06:02And I could press the button.
06:03I could turn it on without always having to set it to be on.
06:06The batteries are one things I've already changed because the batteries have dimmed out since.
06:10It takes three AAA batteries.
06:12There is, again, the try me.
06:13There's the off.
06:14And then there's the on.
06:16The on, as you can see right now, it's completely dark.
06:18The moment you switch it, though, to on, you can see it illuminates by a very bright, actually kind of yellowish tea light at the bottom.
06:26It illuminates enough, at least as well, that you can see it sort of does pulsate maybe a little bit.
06:32So it's got some nice glowing effects to it.
06:34There we go.
06:36So already, it's a fun thing that not only is it just a collectible piece, but the fact it actually does something is a neat touch as well.
06:42But I have to kind of ask the question.
06:44This could have also been so effectively done had they only just made it out of a different material.
06:49Plastic, I mean, obviously, plastic would have had a more cheaper feel to it.
06:52But it certainly would have ensured that this thing would have lasted a test of time.
06:56I mean, obviously, not everyone's going to have this shipped to them.
06:58But you would think as well, if you're ever going to want to store this away, or if, let's just say, this thing falls off the shelf.
07:04There's very little to it, as you can see.
07:06I don't know if you can maybe make it out by the inside cavity here.
07:09It's such a thin material, polyresin, that they used that any one of this could easily buckle.
07:14The moment this gets banged, the moment this falls, I dare I even think that this thing ever falls off the shelf.
07:18This thing would shatter into a million pieces.
07:22Speaking of a million pieces, as already discussed, you can see there's these crack lines.
07:27So if I can kind of show you what mine arrived in.
07:30So this whole section right here, the eye area of the skull, was completely smashed in.
07:36The top, I guess the bottom of the jaw was still intact.
07:39This piece was also missing as well.
07:41And there were all these obvious cracks on the sides.
07:43I've got cracks here, and I've got cracks even formed on the bottom.
07:47I think on the back is okay.
07:48I'm going to spin this around because I haven't even had the chance to show you guys what this thing looks like on the back.
07:52On the back, you've got Halloween too.
07:54And this is also raised as well.
07:56It simply just isn't painted.
07:58That's already looking nice.
07:59It's painted well too.
08:00Like it's a well-painted pumpkin.
08:02You feel like for the value of what this thing was going for, I think it was selling for like $99.
08:06I paid obviously a little bit more because I was a Canadian collector.
08:09When it was all in, when it was all said and done, I probably spent about $128.
08:13That's including the shipping to get that from point A to my broken point B.
08:17We spin the pumpkin around carefully though.
08:19So what I end up having to do, I clearly need to still go back in there, probably like touch up some of the pieces.
08:25There are obviously some pieces where the paint has chipped completely off.
08:28I may have to see if I can go in there and touch this all up.
08:31This is all with the idea in mind that I can't find another one of these pumpkins.
08:34I mean, it's a livable state.
08:36Probably the biggest bit of damage was probably the front of the cheek here where you can see.
08:39Like this is really, I just want to say, this is not the way I really would have wanted to review this.
08:43If I had gotten a clean pumpkin that wasn't broken at all, I would have obviously still sung the praises.
08:49I'm still singing the praises now.
08:50I don't think it's a bad looking statue at all.
08:51It looks fantastic.
08:53It looks like the original Halloween 2 poster.
08:55But obviously the thing that's going to sting the most for me is the fact that I'm forever going to be looking at this thing on the shelf,
09:01and I'm going to know it's broken.
09:03I'm going to know it's broken by the cracks on the side.
09:05I'm also going to know it's broken.
09:06Oh, there's the battery compartment.
09:07I just have to go and pick that up.
09:09The battery compartment actually, yeah, it just fell through.
09:11So I'm going to have to go and retrieve that.
09:13You can see though, just the inside cavity of the pumpkin.
09:16There's very little of it holding it in place.
09:18There's just this little bit of glue.
09:20I don't want to say it's cheaply made.
09:22The light has fallen out from me before.
09:24I was thinking it was going to stay in place though when I was doing the review here,
09:27but I guess maybe just the way I was picking this up.
09:29This fell through, and I'm definitely going to have to go back and glue this again.
09:32But I mean, it's a well-constructed, even though like for the review, it doesn't seem like it's well-constructed.
09:37It looks good.
09:39I just don't think the longevity of that is going to last, especially with the material that they ended up using.
09:43So yeah, I went back and I had to glue the parts of the cheek.
09:46This is the most painful thing.
09:48Everything sort of lined up back the way it needed to be,
09:51other than obviously just the crack lines now showing.
09:54The thing I had the hardest time doing was actually gluing back the cheeks,
09:57because this piece and this piece were broken completely loose inside the box.
10:00I had to kind of put them in individually.
10:02And I mean, lining everything up when you got glue all around it,
10:05like I said, I probably could have done a much better job of it.
10:08Does it look good? It looks fantastic.
10:10But the big stinger for me again is the fact that this thing had to show up damaged.
10:15I can't say I'm just angry alone to the seller,
10:18because the seller, I did reach out to him.
10:20And to be fair, he did say right away, he said,
10:22Oh my, I'm really, really sorry.
10:24I really should have packed this a lot better.
10:26Yeah, I think you really should have.
10:27I should have packed this a lot better.
10:28Let me refund you right away.
10:30And the first immediate thing I was going to say right after that,
10:33after you said that was, do you happen to have a replacement?
10:35Well, before I was able to speak, he had already sent over the refund.
10:38So he had paid me back for this.
10:41And he was very apologetic to me.
10:43He doesn't fix the fault that obviously this thing wasn't packed properly in the first place.
10:47But I have to almost say too, like my extension to that,
10:49I want to blame a little bit about also towards Spirit Halloween.
10:52Spirit Halloween should have not just sold this on the shelf,
10:55loose the way that you saw right now with a little tag on the side.
10:58They should have sold this right away in a box.
11:00Now, if they had put this in a factory box,
11:03then I would have to think if I connected all the dots from that,
11:05if it wasn't an original factory box,
11:07the seller would have then had it in original factory box.
11:10And I wouldn't have had to worry about just the very little paper.
11:13This is again, all the amount of paper that he included.
11:16And I'm not exaggerating at all.
11:17This is the only amount of paper that he packed inside the box.
11:20Had Spirit Halloween done right from the beginning,
11:23what I feel they should have done, put it inside of a big box,
11:25even with a little try me button down the side.
11:27I mean, they really did that also too with the Child's Play 2 Jack in the Box.
11:32Because you got to think like that was poly resin as well.
11:34Why wouldn't they have put the care into the pumpkin
11:37as what they had done with the Jack-O-Lantern or with the Jack in the Box?
11:40I just think it doesn't make any sense that they would have just sold this loose on the shelf
11:43because eventually somebody, if they only display this during Halloween,
11:46the likelihood is that they're going to want to probably put it back in a box
11:50and there just isn't one available.
11:52Picking up back the pumpkin,
11:54short of the fact it's missing a little battery compartment.
11:56We'll have to bring back that in when we get to the final looks of this.
11:58It is nicely painted.
12:00Again, you've got the coloring of the lighter orange there for the teeth on the bottom and the top.
12:03There's a nice little brushing that they've also added this as well
12:06around the nasal cavity and they've done it around the eyes as well.
12:08Just to again, look at this.
12:10So thin of this material of poly resin that they're using.
12:13It's just going to cause a problem down the road
12:16that I just hope that nobody else has had this issue.
12:19If you happen to have picked up one of these pumpkins for yourself,
12:22let me know down below if you've had anything that's broken on this.
12:25Again, kind of in hindsight now,
12:27I probably should have even gone back to that Spirit Halloween store and picked up that other one.
12:30I think the other one that was on the shelf,
12:32if I just spin this around,
12:34this whole section was completely cracked.
12:36It was just a big fault line running from the top of the stem
12:39all the way down to the bottom of the pumpkin.
12:41I don't know how structurally safe it was going to be,
12:44but at least from the front,
12:46again, you can see the lines running with the cracks here.
12:49It pains me to think that this arrived at the state that it is in.
12:53Obviously, some care should have been made when it came to packing this in the first place.
12:57I mean, I'm finally happy to say that I have one in my collection,
13:00but the thing about it though,
13:02is even if I put this on the shelf,
13:04even far enough away, I'm not going to notice that the cracks are there.
13:07Even if anything, you could say that the cracks add a little bit of charm to this,
13:10but at the end of it, it's still a broken collectible.
13:13I don't tend to like to have things broken on my shelf.
13:15The fact that I had to even go in there and glue the pieces back myself,
13:18I'm not one that really is great at matching up pieces.
13:21I'm lousy at building puzzles.
13:23The fact that it bothered me so much that I had to do that to fix this back,
13:26just so I could show you guys what this thing looks like,
13:28I don't want to devalue how good the pumpkin actually looks.
13:31But of course, with that has to be, of course, the reminder to everybody as well,
13:34the material that they've used is one that's very fragile.
13:37And if you're not careful, and you have this on the shelf,
13:40and you happen to bang it, a lot more is probably going to break
13:42than what you're seeing currently on the front of this face.
13:44You're probably going to have the entire thing shatter.
13:46I think they probably should have used a different material,
13:49maybe a poly foam, like a foam material or a plastic material.
13:52I mean, it would have lost some of the higher end collectible feel
13:55that goes along with poly resin,
13:57but at least it would have had durability.
13:59It would have had durability on the shelf,
14:01it certainly would have had durability when it was delivering right to my doorstep.
14:05So in the end, my jack-o'-lantern arrived.
14:07Damn it, not ideally the way I would have wanted to get this.
14:10I did reach out to the seller, I provided him with enough photos to show,
14:13like, look, this is the way that I opened up the box,
14:15and this was the condition that the pumpkin was in.
14:17He was quite apologetic.
14:18And right away he said, look, I'll refund you the amount.
14:21I mean, it doesn't fix the fact that he shipped it the way that he did.
14:24If he carefully packed it,
14:26then I would have never had to reach out to him in the first place.
14:28And this review probably would have gone in a different direction.
14:31He refunded me at least, and I had the full amount, including the shipping.
14:34I went back, though, and sure enough, on his listings,
14:36he had another Halloween II jack-o'-lantern.
14:38And for that moment, I thought to myself,
14:40maybe I should order another one.
14:41The seller's already been dealing with me,
14:43he knows where it's going to be going to,
14:44and maybe he's going to try this time a little bit harder to wrap this up carefully.
14:48But then I thought, what are the chances?
14:50What are the chances that I go through all this again?
14:53I wait the several weeks for this thing to finally arrive,
14:55I open it up, and something else is broken on the pumpkin.
14:58In a perfect world, I would have liked to have just gone to a Spirit Halloween locally here
15:02and been able to go to a shelf and see the condition that these things are in
15:06and pick out the better, perfect pumpkin.
15:08Unfortunately, I couldn't do that.
15:09The only one time I've seen this thing in a store,
15:12it happened to have also been, yeah, you guessed it, broken.
15:15Maybe I might just go back and check to see if that store still has it.
15:19I don't know.
15:20I mean, even if it's not broken from the front,
15:22I know something's going to be broken on the back of it.
15:24Ideally, though, I would have just liked this thing to be in a perfect condition.
15:28And I think a lot of it, I still said this in the review,
15:31you have to blame a little bit of this on Spirit Halloween.
15:34Spirit Halloween, if they put a lot of care into making this in the first place,
15:37why wouldn't they have also done as much care to put a packaging with this as well?
15:41So that if it, first of all, arrives to the stores in mint condition,
15:45because that's the way that you obviously would want them to be,
15:47but also to anybody that's looking to put these things away after a while.
15:51Like if you're only somebody that likes to display things like Halloween things
15:54only during the month of October, you want to store this away eventually, right?
15:58You would think that they would have packed this thing inside of a box.
16:02It could have a little Try Me button on the side.
16:04I mean, Spirit Halloween has released cheaper,
16:06and we've seen some really cheap things that Spirit Halloween has put out in the past.
16:09They've done that with things like that.
16:12Why couldn't they have done something with a higher-end collectible like what we got here?
16:16In the end, I've got a broken pumpkin.
16:18I hope at some point I happen to stumble across another one,
16:21and I hope the one that I find next is in a better condition.
16:24What do you guys think of this Jack-O-Lantern?
16:26Let me know down below in the comments section.
16:27You know, again, this review could have gone really in a better direction,
16:30and ideally I would have liked to have been able just to say right from the beginning,
16:33this is how the pumpkin works.
16:35This is how the Try Me little button works on the side.
16:37It illuminates, and it's in a perfect condition.
16:40Unfortunately, though, it didn't go that way,
16:42but I tried my best to show you guys what this thing looked like,
16:44even in the damaged state that it was in.
16:46But let me know if you guys have seen broken cases of these,
16:49or dare I even say, if you've accidentally broken one yourself.
16:52Now, again, this one isn't available at all on Spirit Halloween sites,
16:56completely sold out.
16:57You might still be lucky enough, if you're in a U.S. location,
17:00that you could go to your local stores and still find these on the shelf.
17:03The only option, if you don't have that, is to probably check the places on eBay.
17:07If, though, you buy something on eBay, take this as a cautionary tale.
17:10Contact the seller before he ships it,
17:13and see what images look like of what this thing looks like
17:16when it leaves his location.
17:18If you guys did enjoy this video, though, do it a solid.
17:20Throw it a like.
17:21You guys want to stick around for more, so I hope so.
17:24I hope, at least, the future videos that we're going to be looking at here
17:27during the month of Spottober are going to be in better conditions,
17:29that nothing's going to be broken.
17:30Knock on skeleton.
17:32But in the meantime, yeah, hit the subscribe.
17:33In the meantime, turn on that bell.
17:35But in the meantime, have your ghoulish peepers peel to this channel,
