00:00Previously on Forth and Forever, native son DJ Bolden returned home to restore Pahokee's glory.
00:08None of this stuff matters if we don't win.
00:10Only to suffer humbling loss.
00:13Pahokee QB Matt Williams faltered.
00:16Get him out of the game.
00:17And offensive coordinator Damian Berry felt the heat.
00:20The score is Palm Beach Lakes 48, Pahokee 0.
00:24On the other side of Muck City, rival Glade Central notched a critical win.
00:29Hooray for defense.
00:31And senior Jermaine Mays vowed a comeback from an injury.
00:34I gotta go to the hospital for y'all.
00:41For decades, the green bridge connecting Muck City to the rest of Palm Beach County was a symbol, a legend.
00:48Any visiting high school knew that once they crossed that bridge, they were entering the lion's den.
00:55The notorious realm of two of the fiercest rivals in high school football, Pahokee and Glade Central.
01:02Once you cross the bridge, the next stop is Belle Glade.
01:05And just the word Belle Glade is intimidating.
01:07We in Palm Beach, you hear Belle Glade.
01:09They're like, oh.
01:11But times have clearly changed.
01:13And that ratchets up the pressure to win.
01:16We had a stand in the Muck, man.
01:19Nothing crossed the green bridge beat us.
01:22It meant nobody was taking nothing from us.
01:25We're not used to losing to guys across the green bridge.
01:28Because on the Muck, it was always about us beating each other.
01:31And we used to just tear everything up across the bridge.
01:35We built a legacy.
01:36We were respected around the county.
01:38Teens were hesitant about even putting us on their schedule.
01:43Let's just say the competition is part of the Pahokee.
01:45That's just how it is.
01:53For the past few years, teachers and administrators at Pahokee High
01:57have been on a crusade to elevate academic achievement
02:00to a level that rivals the school's performance on the football field
02:05by strengthening programs in math and science
02:08and introducing cool new activities like a robotics club.
02:15So when it came time to hire a new football coach,
02:18Principal Dewayne Denard needed someone who supported his vision for the school,
02:22a special vision shared by native son DJ Bolden.
02:27Come to work early to get a head start.
02:29Well, I hired Coach Bolden based on my vision for all the students.
02:33He came in, he did a very good interview,
02:36detailed interview of the vision that I want for my students.
02:39In addition to heading up the football team,
02:41Coach Bolden pulls double duty,
02:43teaching history at the adjoining middle school.
02:46Then and only then will you flirt.
02:48I do the academic part. I'm very good at it.
02:51And then I do the football part, and I'm very good at that.
02:54The mindset that I have, that drove me to success.
02:57But obviously after you live life, you realize football isn't everything.
03:02It's just an opportunity for something greater.
03:05Principal Denard always talking about changing the culture
03:08as far as everything around it.
03:10He's reforming the school, he's reforming the players and the coaches.
03:14He brought us here to make a change, you know, to push these athletes.
03:19There's no reason we shouldn't light up the school board.
03:23Last week, Pahokee's new vision was put to the test
03:27in the beatdown the Blue Devils received at the hands of Palm Beach Lakes.
03:32How can we refocus, see light at the end of the tunnel
03:35so they can stay motivated and play the game of football.
03:39This is the first practice coming back from, you know, a very horrible loss.
03:44We have been beating Palm Beach Lakes since 96.
03:48Like, it's been a long time.
03:51The game last week with Palm Beach Lakes was like,
03:55basically we beat ourselves.
03:5728 is up, first half. That's all you need to know.
04:01Principal Denard wants the players to know they stand at a crossroads,
04:06but that they still have the power to live up to the expectations
04:10set by the Blue Devil teams that have come before them.
04:14Your season is not lost unless you allow your season to be lost.
04:19You guys are a legendary system.
04:22This is a legendary tradition.
04:24What did I say up there?
04:25A tradition of building champions.
04:28When you walk through this hallway, that big poster, it says,
04:31Become Legendary.
04:34Doing the things when the scouts ain't looking.
04:37Doing the little, small things.
04:39That's what I think being legendary.
04:40You got to come together as a family.
04:43And right now when I see y'all out there, you're not playing as a family.
04:47You're not communicating.
04:49So with that said, I bought every single one of you a shirt.
04:54This shirt say right here, Become Legendary.
04:58We're going to give it to every single one of you.
05:002019.
05:02On the back, say you will remember us.
05:06Your season is not lost.
05:08Your season is not lost.
05:10The prize is still ahead of you.
05:13Big dog, I want the big dogs to come in first.
05:18Being legendary is really leave your mark.
05:22Don't let nobody take your spot.
05:24Everything about you is you.
05:26Can't nobody take that.
05:27That's called legendary.
05:33Everybody ready?
05:34Yo!
05:35Everybody ready?
05:36Yo!
05:38On the Pahokee practice field, the path to becoming legendary
05:42starts with the steady drumbeat of expectations
05:45that Coach Bolden and his staff impart upon their players.
05:49Over and over and over.
05:52We're going to fix this.
05:54Being on time.
05:55No slacking.
05:56Constructive criticism.
05:57Held accountable to your brothers.
05:59Respect.
06:00Little simple stuff.
06:01Keeping yourself accountable.
06:03Accountability is a big thing on this football team.
06:05Yo!
06:06Daniel!
06:07We got him!
06:08Stay in there!
06:09Good job!
06:10Like Coach Bolden, nearly everyone on his staff
06:13is a product of Muck City.
06:15They hold legendary status
06:17and the college and pro football pedigrees
06:19the young players aspire to.
06:22Mike!
06:23Stay tight!
06:25I'm the offensive coordinator.
06:27Graduated from the University of Miami.
06:29Played for the Baltimore Ravens.
06:31Won the Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens.
06:32Basically, I'm the guy that
06:34is behind the offensive madness.
06:37Good!
06:38Coach Berry brings his experience
06:40as an NFL running back to call and plays.
06:42But when he was in high school,
06:44Berry was the enemy.
06:46Yes, I grew up in Belgley.
06:48I graduated from Glade Central, actually.
06:50The rival school.
06:52The jury's still out on whether or not
06:54Pahokee fans can accept a former Raider
06:57on the Blue Devil coaching staff.
07:00Let's go!
07:01Let's go Seminole!
07:03The former pro also sets the bar high
07:05when it comes to player discipline.
07:07Hey! Hey! Hey!
07:09Let me coach you!
07:11Let me coach you!
07:13One thing we ain't gonna talk about
07:15this year is disrespect.
07:17No disrespect for kids.
07:19We've spent a lot of time out here with them
07:21preparing them for games.
07:23We're trying to change the culture.
07:25From the principal on down, he said
07:27he wanted to change the culture.
07:29So this is how we change the culture.
07:31You're cheating my rolls, bro.
07:33You're cheating my rolls, partner.
07:35Don't cheat me.
07:37Yeah, they'll put them on around that chair.
07:39All that grass.
07:41You're gonna be itchy tonight.
07:43Coaches on the Pahokee staff
07:45say they sense a tangible shift in attitude
07:47between today's players
07:49and previous generations of Blue Devils.
07:51It wasn't that back then.
07:53It was more if your mom say be quiet,
07:55you be quiet.
07:57You know, if an adult is talking,
07:59you stop talking.
08:01Coach Berry hopes that a good dose of discipline
08:03will help the young athletes shape up
08:05to be better men.
08:07You know, the play.
08:09Is that why you're doing this?
08:11And I was talking about it.
08:13The backtalk in practice,
08:15coupled with the Blue Devils'
08:17poor offensive showing this season,
08:19have put Coach Berry,
08:21the Glade Central grad,
08:23on the hot seat in Pahokee.
08:25In times like these,
08:27Coach Berry relies on his faith
08:29to help him stay on course.
08:31I'm a firm believer
08:33of faith, family, football.
08:35And if you have your faith in God,
08:37nothing else really matters,
08:39you know,
08:41because he's gonna take care of you.
08:43Berry also relies on the counsel
08:45of another Muck City legend,
08:47his father,
08:49Bishop Kenny Berry.
08:51Kenny was a star cornerback for Pahokee,
08:53which earned him a scholarship
08:55to the University of Miami
08:57and a stint in the NFL.
08:59Now, Bishop Berry ministers
09:01to his congregation
09:03at Grace Fellowship
09:05in the heart of Muck City,
09:07blending his love of faith
09:09and family with his passion
09:11for football.
09:13A coach himself has to keep
09:15himself, what, motivated,
09:17just as God has given us players.
09:19And basically what you try to do,
09:21just like a football team
09:23trying to get their kids
09:25to carry out a play,
09:27our family, we try to get them
09:29to carry out a play.
09:32We're a small rural community.
09:35You go down to Pahokee,
09:37there's not even a Burger King
09:39or a McDonald's or a Wendy's
09:41or a Checkers.
09:44People need to see
09:46the disadvantage
09:48that these communities,
09:50you know, have compared
09:52to other communities.
09:54But still being able to go out
09:56and be productive and still
09:58putting guys in the NFL,
09:59you know, sending guys
10:01off to college.
10:03I remember I got my first offer
10:05and it was just like,
10:07phew.
10:09Because when you play in,
10:11you know, you're kind of scared
10:13that, well, maybe I'm not good enough.
10:15And when that first one came in,
10:17I had tears in my eyes
10:19because I don't care if no other
10:21ones come in, we got this one.
10:23Every player a college takes
10:25is an investment,
10:27both of coaching time,
10:29and a place to scholarship spot
10:31on a player who's going to flame out.
10:33They check with teachers,
10:35principals, coaches.
10:37They want to make sure that the player
10:39that they're taking as a scholarship player
10:41is a player who's going to succeed
10:43in their team and at the school.
10:45One of Pahokee's most promising
10:47Division I prospects
10:49is Delonis Kabir,
10:51who goes by the nickname Scooter.
10:53He's a massive two-way tackle
10:55with great speed.
10:57But when he was born,
10:59it was in his mother's hand.
11:01If I tell people I was a premature baby
11:03and how small I was,
11:05they won't believe it because,
11:07like, I'm real big now.
11:09Scooter, he's a big, mild-mannered kid.
11:11He's a nice kid.
11:13You're not going to find a nicer young man.
11:15Scooter was like your typical church boy.
11:17He goes to church,
11:19he plays in the band at the school.
11:21But if you've ever seen Scooter,
11:23he's, what, 6'4", 6'5",
11:25330-pound kid beating the drums.
11:27Like, no, we need a lineman.
11:29For Scooter,
11:31football is oftentimes a blessing
11:33and a curse.
11:35I'm always doing something
11:37dealing with football.
11:39Like, I miss out on, like,
11:41fun stuff that the family's doing
11:43because I have to do football practice.
11:45Everyone was just pushing him
11:47to play football because of his size.
11:49Like, he had great size.
11:51And football is not Scooter's first love,
11:53but it's something that he grew to love.
11:55He's seen an outlet through this.
11:57He's been able to go to college
11:59and have his school paid for
12:01by playing a game
12:03that he's fallen in love with.
12:06This came from N.C. State.
12:08It just tells me
12:10that they want to see me this summer,
12:12get me up this summer.
12:14And then this one's from Wake Forest.
12:16It tells me that I'm a pretty good player.
12:19I play the game the way
12:21my position should be played.
12:23That's from the coach.
12:25He was like,
12:27University of Central Florida.
12:29See, it's got my jersey number.
12:31This was just saying
12:33that they enjoy having me up for camp
12:35and hope I had a good time at the school.
12:38There's just a few.
12:40The rest of my room will move on.
12:42With all this attention
12:44comes the anticipation
12:46that Scooter will soon make
12:48the biggest decision of his life so far.
12:50Where to play college ball.
12:52It's a decision
12:54with life-changing consequences
12:55for many college football prospects.
12:57It's now home to a unique organization
12:59dedicated to securing scholarships
13:01for that area's standout players.
13:03Another step
13:05on the road to turning today's students
13:07into tomorrow's legends.
13:09Today we're in Belle Glade.
13:11It's the grand opening
13:13of the Student ACES Center,
13:15which we call the SAC.
13:17A center for the young men and women
13:19in our program to congregate,
13:21come to this facility,
13:23be able to learn life skills,
13:25and achieve their dreams.
13:27Today will mark the beginning
13:29of a childhood dream.
13:31And it is through this program
13:33and this building
13:35that not only the student-athletes
13:37in the Glades area,
13:39but the youth in this community
13:41will be equipped with knowledge
13:43and the resources needed
13:45to reach their dreams.
13:47Katie Fletcher
13:49is a former scholar-athlete
13:51from Glades Central
13:53who is now paving the way
13:55for other young men and women
13:57and so do their scholarship offers.
13:59She's like a mentor.
14:01She really want to help these guys out.
14:03All she wants to see
14:05is see them be successful.
14:07Hello.
14:09I never tell them ever
14:11where I want them to go
14:13or where I think they fit.
14:15I let them make that decision
14:17for themselves.
14:19Katie could be considered
14:21their mom agent.
14:23You know what I'm saying?
14:25But at the same time,
14:27she's built that rapport with them
14:29with our relationship to say,
14:31listen, you know this is
14:33what we have to do
14:35in order to get you
14:36to this next level.
14:38This center is the first of its kind
14:40in actually the entire U.S.
14:42So this building is going to be
14:44one of those things
14:46that teach them not just football,
14:48but every other sport.
14:50Just what do they need,
14:52the requirements that are needed
14:53to get them to the next level.
14:55We know that every kid
14:57is not going to be an NFL player.
14:59We understand that.
15:01But we're also going to prepare
15:03them for life after athletics
15:05and be able to grasp
15:07those opportunities.
15:09This week,
15:11Pahokee's coach Bolden
15:13knows the entire community
15:15expects him to field a team
15:17that is focused and prepared
15:19to win.
15:21But focus has been hard
15:23for him to cope
15:25with being the starting QB
15:27for his former arch rival.
15:29He also just learned before
15:31his poor performance
15:33at Palm Beach Lakes
15:35that his father,
15:37Max Senior,
15:39an ex-con known in the muck
15:41as Little Mac,
15:43had just been arrested again.
15:45The day I seen him,
15:47it was uptown.
15:49The police came over there
15:51and tried to get somebody
15:53and he was in the middle
15:55of something,
15:57a judge's name or something.
15:59I can't pretty much tell him
16:01to stay out of the streets.
16:03That's his life he chose.
16:05But it wasn't just Mac
16:07who struggled to stay focused
16:09in Pahokee's last game.
16:11With the team's next challenge
16:13only days away,
16:15coach Bolden and company
16:17are growing impatient
16:19with the lack of effort
16:21and the surplus of idle chatter
16:23on TV.
16:25I mean, I'm talking right to you.
16:27Check me, check me.
16:29Line up, line up.
16:31If we going simple,
16:33hey, shut up, Scooter.
16:35Check me.
16:37If you don't want to be here, go.
16:39If you do not believe
16:41we're going to win Friday,
16:43do not show up, yo.
16:45If you're concerned about yourself,
16:47don't show up.
16:49Too much selfish play right here.
16:51We need team football.
16:53Football!
16:55Just in case y'all ain't notice,
16:57we play big teams.
16:59This is a team sport, fellas.
17:01If you want to be an individual,
17:03go play tennis.
17:05See me after practice.
17:07While coach Bolden battles
17:09to impose order and discipline
17:11on the Pahokee players,
17:13Blade Central must focus
17:15on its longtime foe,
17:17Cocoa High School,
17:19the team that has beaten the Raiders
17:21twice in the state championship game.
17:23In a few days,
17:25taking down Cocoa
17:27would be an historic accomplishment
17:29and possibly attract the attention
17:31from college scouts,
17:33all the more reason Jermaine is anxious
17:35for his recent knee injury to heal.
17:37But a lack of financial resources
17:39to pay for his treatment
17:41and a fear of missing
17:43the rest of the season
17:45have Jermaine unsure of what to do,
17:47which leads him to the SAC offices
17:49and his new guardian angel,
17:51Katie Fletcher.
17:53What's up, man?
17:55Pull up them pants.
17:57I always gotta tell you,
17:59pull up your pants.
18:01All right, so what's going on?
18:03Talk to me.
18:05Everything good so far.
18:07You know what I'm saying?
18:09I can't play because of my knee.
18:11What's up with your knee?
18:13Got fluid and all,
18:15but I ain't trying to go to no hospital.
18:17No. Yes.
18:19I mean, I know I got fluid,
18:21and I guess that's all I need to do.
18:23I just want to check that.
18:25What's gonna happen when recruiting season kick off?
18:27Come on now.
18:29I don't want to be put in no position
18:31where I gotta be clear just to play,
18:33you know what I'm saying?
18:35Friday, we supposed to make history as a class,
18:37you know what I'm saying?
18:39My class 2020, you know what I'm saying?
18:41We gotta make history that night,
18:43you know what I'm saying?
18:45So I gotta be on the field.
18:47I gotta be part of it.
18:49Let me explain something to you.
18:51Whatever you don't fix now,
18:53you don't get an opportunity to play again.
18:55Because when they get you, they need you fresh.
18:57They need you ready to go.
18:59I need you to get your knee fixed.
19:01Okay?
19:03While Jermaine focuses on Glade Central's next game
19:05versus Coco Hyde...
19:07Love you.
19:09...a senior on rival team Pahokee,
19:11Scooter Kabir,
19:13is thinking ahead to next year
19:15and everything besides football that's important to him.
19:19If I didn't have football,
19:21I'd probably be more into the nerdy type,
19:23like chess and stuff like that.
19:25I'm not one of those guys who's like,
19:27oh, my dream is going to be in the NFL.
19:29Instead, Scooter will choose
19:31where he wants to play college ball
19:33based on academics, not athletics.
19:36I just want a major in criminal justice
19:38and whatever life takes me with that degree,
19:41then I'll just follow it.
19:43Really, I could be a judge or a lawyer, too.
19:46I feel like if I do that,
19:48I can make a difference in my community.
19:51A lot of times,
19:53in this community, African-Americans,
19:55they feel like the police are out to get them.
19:57You know what I mean?
19:59I feel like I could be one of the ones
20:01that can change that.
20:06Tuesday afternoon.
20:08It's three days until Glade Central
20:10kicks off against rival Coco.
20:12At the urging of Katie Fletcher,
20:14Jermaine Mays has decided
20:16to get his knee examined
20:18with the hope he'll be cleared to play.
20:20We're going into someone's ER
20:21and getting that knee checked out
20:23because this has been one of the seasons
20:25where he has had one of the best seasons
20:27I've ever seen him play.
20:29What's going on?
20:37So, what's up?
20:39Ready to get this over with?
20:42How you feeling today?
20:44You hurt any day?
20:46I can tell by the way you walk here.
20:48I want you to make sure
20:49that you keep a positive mind
20:51through this, too, all right?
20:53I just don't want them to set me
20:55for Friday night.
20:57You can't worry about that, though.
20:59That's the wrong thing to worry about.
21:01I'm being honest.
21:03One thing that you're going to find out
21:05about the kids on the muck
21:07in the Glades area,
21:09they don't want to miss a dime of football.
21:11They don't care how hurt they are.
21:13You would have got it done
21:15when you were supposed to get it done.
21:17You wouldn't be in this situation.
21:19The talent don't come up
21:21because he's kind of like, you know,
21:23that type of macho guy.
21:25But Jermaine is a very smart kid.
21:27What did you do to even
21:29for this to happen?
21:31It was in practice.
21:33I was just going crazy in practice.
21:35I was on every tackle.
21:37Hello.
21:39I was kneeling on the ground.
21:41Hurt.
21:43It's really tough to be
21:45a senior football player
21:47and have to miss time for an injury.
21:49It's really the game that they love.
21:51Jermaine is not the only one
21:53who's anxious about the upcoming games.
21:55At Pahokee,
21:57offensive coordinator Damian Berry
21:59knows a win in Jacksonville
22:01would do a lot to earn him some trust
22:03among Blue Devil fans.
22:05All through the week,
22:07criticism of the Blue Devil's offense
22:09has been building online.
22:11And the rumor mill has been lighting up
22:13with comments calling Damian's loyalty
22:15into question.
22:17Let's go!
22:19Damian Berry's being attacked.
22:21He's the bad guy.
22:23He's from Glade Central.
22:25So it must be his fault.
22:27He's human.
22:29Like, we're all human.
22:31And when you got social media,
22:33you got the fans,
22:35you got the community,
22:37it's like everywhere you go
22:39someone's sticking a pencil.
22:41They poking him, and they poking him,
22:43and they poking him, and they poking him.
22:45Bro, if you want your head, boy,
22:47you're a smart man.
22:49Nothing to do with you being black,
22:51but probably from Glade Central.
22:56Jermaine's examination is over,
22:58and the results are a mixed bag.
23:00They reveal a knee contusion,
23:02but no permanent damage.
23:04Glad it's over.
23:06See how easy that was?
23:08There's a chance Jermaine will be back
23:10on the field this Friday,
23:12but his action may be limited.
23:14But not for real.
23:16I'm glad you're good.
23:17I still don't think you can practice,
23:19but I know you ain't trying to hit it.
23:24Miss Katie want me to take it light,
23:26you know what I'm saying?
23:28But I got to put it all on the field.
23:31I appreciate you, though.
23:33Nah, you good.
23:35I told you, I just want what's best for y'all.
23:41Love.
23:43You gotta say that with more enthusiasm.
23:45Love, love, love.
23:47Pull up your pants.
23:55It's game day for Pahokee,
23:57and the team arrives early
23:59to make the nearly five-hour drive north
24:01to play Trinity Christian Academy.
24:03Just getting ready to board the bus, man.
24:05Trying to get some last-minute things done, man,
24:07before we head to Jacksonville.
24:09Just before the team bus rolls out,
24:12Coach Berry's frustration
24:14with all the online criticism boils over.
24:16Let's talk.
24:18Speak to peace.
24:20Everybody want me.
24:22It's not about no other coach on this damn.
24:24It's about me.
24:26And y'all ain't seen me yet.
24:28That's what I mean when I say you ain't got no help.
24:30Sorry to disturb,
24:32but the bus driver said if y'all don't hurry up,
24:34he's not gonna be able to stop.
24:36All right.
24:38Peace.
24:40I understand your frustration,
24:42but don't talk it to him.
24:43You feel it.
24:45I understand.
24:47You feel it.
24:51New coaching staff,
24:53that shows to me that it's a development stage
24:55in which that's where we are now.
25:04Glade Central is also hitting the road
25:07for its game versus the Cocoa High Tigers.
25:10Over the years,
25:11some of the Raiders' toughest losses
25:13have come against Cocoa.
25:15So team chaplain Desmond Harriet
25:17asked that the good Lord
25:19might step in as the 12th man on the field tonight.
25:22Lord, that every man who remembers
25:24his assignments and plays to the best of his ability.
25:27Too long we have been hurt by that school.
25:30We pray, Lord, that you take vengeance
25:32for your glory.
25:34Anybody else?
25:36Father God, everybody know what needs to be done.
25:38What's at stake? What's on the line?
25:39Boy, we can make history tonight.
25:41You know what I'm saying? Amen.
25:49Don't hate. Motivate.
25:54We're going on a mission.
25:56That's important for the pride of the Raiders.
25:58For the Raiders who were so dominant back then,
26:01but they lost to Cocoa.
26:03If we beat them,
26:05that's going to mean a lot to the whole community.
26:10The Cocoa team from two years ago,
26:12like these dudes,
26:14oh God, you swear it was like a college team
26:16that was out there.
26:18These boys was big, man.
26:21We're going to pull this out.
26:23We're going to take it with one punt
26:25to win the game.
26:27That's all it takes, one punt.
26:29The team's taking the field now
26:31and Cocoa's going to be kicking off.
26:33We can win.
26:35Without a doubt, we can win.
26:37We just got to go out there and play football.
26:39Guys, make sure we're back.
26:41Guys, make sure we're back.
26:43In this matchup,
26:45it's Glade Central's speed
26:47versus Cocoa's speed.
26:49We're going to win.
26:51We're going to win.
26:53We're going to win.
26:55We're going to win.
26:57Versus Cocoa's size.
26:59Don't worry about it, just keep playing.
27:01And Cocoa sets the tone right away,
27:03pummeling Glade Central on seemingly every down.
27:06Hey, on the ball, on the ball.
27:08Even though Jermaine has been cleared to play,
27:10his recent knee injury
27:12has dropped him down the death chart.
27:14The underclassmen at GC keep pressure on you
27:16because all of them boys,
27:18everybody want to get in, everybody want to play.
27:20For now, all Jermaine can do
27:22is stand and watch.
27:24Hurry up, hurry up.
27:27Touchdown scored by Danny White.
27:29Hey, it's okay, it's okay.
27:31In the second quarter,
27:33Jermaine's cousin, standout senior Jim Davis,
27:36who plays both offense and defense,
27:38gives the Raiders a much-needed boost.
27:47Good cut, Jim.
27:50Man, I feel like ain't nobody better than us.
27:52That's how I see it. It's show on the field.
27:56But Davis alone can't slow down Coco.
28:05Man, come on, man.
28:07That's terrible, that.
28:10Guys, what are we doing?
28:12Touchdown.
28:14Nobody hit it.
28:16Relax, guys. It's just football.
28:18Guys, guys, guys.
28:23Coco continues to manhandle
28:24the Raiders offense.
28:26Man, come on, that bullcrap, man.
28:28At the half, Coco 17, Blade Central 6.
28:31Come on, man, y'all making it too difficult
28:33when this game should be easy.
28:35Go, go, go, go.
28:37Hurry, hurry, hurry.
28:39I need to see you run over that linebacker.
28:41Don't step around here.
28:43Early in the second half,
28:45Jermaine thinks he hears his number call.
28:47No, hey, no, no, no, no, no, no.
28:49But the coaches pull him back.
28:51There's so much adrenaline rushing through my head right now.
28:52Trying to balance out.
28:54Being focused versus what's going on.
28:57Yeah.
28:59Let's go. Let's go.
29:01Trying to mount a comeback,
29:03Blade Central bombs into a deep receiver.
29:07No.
29:09But the ball is intercepted.
29:11Hey, stop throwing the damn ball at half.
29:13And Coco's offense takes advantage.
29:17And Coco's cook is good.
29:20The disappointing part
29:22of it is the lack of execution
29:25and lack of concentration.
29:27Our kid just wasn't there mentally.
29:31I understand coaches call plays.
29:33But sometimes as a player,
29:35you gotta be able to read this stuff
29:37and do what you know best.
29:39In the fourth quarter,
29:41the coach is sending Jermaine.
29:43Anywhere I get in there,
29:45you know what I'm saying,
29:47I'm trying to make a play,
29:49you know what I'm saying.
29:50Get in here.
29:52There we go, baby.
29:54There you go, twin.
29:56But Jermaine is not on the field for long
29:59as coaches continue to sub in younger players in his place.
30:04But as he watches from the sideline,
30:06Kickoff return. Let's go.
30:08Kickoff return.
30:10Jermaine's cousin, Jim Davis,
30:12Get it out. Get it out.
30:14Returns a punt deep into Coco territory.
30:17Let's go, baby.
30:19Then, with the last minutes ticking down,
30:22Go, we got it.
30:24he makes a crucial first down catch
30:26that keeps hope alive.
30:29Pass complete to number one, James Davis.
30:32That'll move the chains for it.
30:34Relay to central.
30:36When it's time to do something,
30:38I'm gonna always do it.
30:40Outside release.
30:42Get on the goal line and take it, bro.
30:44With less than a minute to go,
30:46Jim snags a touchdown pass
30:48in the first half of the session game.
30:51James Davis
30:53with the touchdown for Glades Central.
30:55Glades Central attempts an onside kick,
30:58hoping to get the ball back.
31:00Let's go. Let's go.
31:02Let's go. Let's go. Get the ball.
31:04Coco recovers the onside kick.
31:06History repeats
31:08as Coco runs out the clock
31:10and runs their winning streak
31:12against Glades Central to four in a row.
31:15As for Jermaine,
31:16he's doing his best
31:18to contain his frustration,
31:20both with the Raiders' loss
31:22and with the injury
31:24that's kept him out of much of the game.
31:26Made me mad
31:28because we're supposed to be beating them.
31:30And I ain't gonna never see Coco again.
31:32You gotta take everything serious,
31:34you know what I'm saying?
31:36And being a leader on the team is important.
31:38Helmets up. Helmets up.
31:40One, two, three.
31:41Let's go.
31:47In Jacksonville,
31:49Coach Bolden and his Pahokee team
31:51are hoping to put last week's
31:53poor performance behind them.
32:01This is our first time playing Trinity.
32:03Really good football team.
32:05They're state champions.
32:07We're looking forward to a big game tonight.
32:12Defense! Defense!
32:14Defense! Defense!
32:16From the opening plays,
32:18Trinity puts its championship-caliber talent
32:20on display.
32:22Gouging the Pahokee defense
32:24thanks to speedy number three,
32:26Ka'Juan Herndon,
32:28Trinity's best player
32:30and a top-flight college recruit.
32:33It was the Ka'Juan Herndon show
32:35against Pahokee for Trinity Christian.
32:37I told y'all to bust out!
32:39One, left, split, stack two.
32:41Let's go, baby.
32:43Come on, KJ.
32:45When Pahokee goes on offense,
32:47Coach Bolden decides it's time
32:49to make a change at quarterback.
32:51He benches junior QB Mac Williams.
32:55Hey, man, coach.
32:57Coach him up.
32:59But on the first play from scrimmage,
33:01the backup QB is sacked
33:03and all Mac can do
33:05is watch helplessly from the sideline.
33:07All right, now I'm second string
33:09or I was first,
33:11and if I don't do it,
33:13I can't help my team out.
33:15Unfortunately,
33:17Mac isn't the only player
33:19struggling to do the right things
33:21on the field.
33:23Defensive tackle,
33:25Scooter Kabir,
33:27is in the wrong position.
33:29Scooter, fly!
33:31Come on!
33:33Fly, Scooter!
33:35Fly!
33:38Gotta get in the fire, coach.
33:39Scooter!
33:41You gotta line up on the tackle, man.
33:43We as coaches can't do nothing else.
33:46We put y'all in position.
33:48Y'all gotta make plays.
33:50Trinity pulls away
33:52and wins easily.
33:54Y'all let these people score 15 seconds, man.
33:5642-7.
34:02The postgame journey back
34:04across the Green Bridge
34:06is a long one.
34:09By the time the team arrives,
34:11news of the blowout loss
34:13is already circulating
34:15through the community
34:17and eventually makes its way
34:19inside the West County Jail
34:21where one football parent
34:23currently resides.
34:25Little Mac Williams,
34:27father of Mac Williams.
34:29So it's a couple of people
34:31that work in the jail
34:33that actually are from Pahokee.
34:35So I'm like, hey, man,
34:37is my son playing?
34:39That's where I beat myself up.
34:41Is it my fault?
34:43If I was there,
34:45would it have been different?
34:49Coach Bolden sees a direct connection
34:51between Little Mac's incarceration
34:53and his son's difficulties
34:55on the field.
34:57It's very important for a quarterback
34:59to have a clear mind
35:01when there's chaos at home
35:03via being his father,
35:05going off to jail,
35:07and him and his father
35:09playing together.
35:11When I look up in the stands,
35:13it don't get me mad,
35:15it just have me in a feeling
35:17like I wish somebody was here
35:19to watch me play.
35:21A lot of decisions that Mac made
35:23just wasn't focused.
35:25And that lack of focus,
35:27I believe,
35:29came from his father
35:31not being present.
35:33Mac Williams is a junior,
35:35which means he has the rest
35:37of this season and the next year
35:39ahead of him.
35:45For seniors like Scooter Kabir,
35:47looking ahead to next year
35:49means lining up all his priorities
35:51into one life-changing decision.
35:53What goes into it,
35:55obviously I want to study criminal justice,
35:57so the type of program they have
35:59at the school,
36:01the distance away from home probably,
36:03my family's availability to get to me
36:05when they need to or when they can.
36:07With lots of high school football
36:09left to play,
36:11Scooter is now ready to declare
36:13which scholarship offer
36:15delivers all that.
36:17I decided to commit to the
36:19University of Central Florida
36:21because they have a great program
36:23for what I want to study,
36:25criminal justice.
36:27With all of our kids,
36:29as long as they're making
36:31their decisions and they're making it
36:33for the right reasons,
36:34that's a positive matter.
36:36And then going to college and actually
36:38graduating with my college degree.
36:43Next time on 4th & Forever,
36:45at Glade Central,
36:47Jermaine Mays finally gets
36:49his chance to shine.
36:51He basically made the best hit
36:53of the game.
36:55While Coach Bolden roots out
36:57for a traitor on the Pahokee
36:59coaching staff.
37:01I got a Judas in my camp,
37:02and I ain't feeling it.
