Shrewsbury vs Stevenage - Ollie Westbury preview
Transcript
00:00I'm at Shrewsbury's Sundawn Castle training base and we've just spoken to head coach Gareth Ainsworth
00:07ahead of the pivotal League One clash against Stevenage this weekend.
00:13Shrewsbury looking to bounce back from back-to-back home defeats against Bolton and Huddersfield in recent times
00:19and they will do so with another home game, their third in quick succession, as they welcome Stevenage
00:26who they lost 1-0 to Burton in midweek. Gareth Ainsworth, as he always seems to be, incredibly enthusiastic
00:35and optimistic this morning when he met the press and was asked a load of questions that he was probably asked a few days ago
00:42because not a great deal has changed since we last had the opportunity to speak to him.
00:47However, there is some newsworthy things to come out of the press conference.
00:51It appears as though, for the moment, that Leo Kasselbein has now returned to Chelsea.
00:57His loan is not over, but there is a chance that he will come back to Shrewsbury later on in the season.
01:07Reports emerged in The Athletic overnight that the young loanee has got a minor stress fracture in the back
01:15and, yes, he's set to be out for some considerable period of time, so that means that Shrewsbury will be without him.
01:21Taylor Perry, on the other hand, seems a much more positive prognosis about the former Wolves youngster.
01:28He's had a bit of a quad problem, but fingers crossed he should be somewhere there or thereabouts.
01:34If he can't make Stevenage, then there's another huge game against Peterborough on the road the following weekend.
01:40Gareth Ainsworth talked about the fundamentals and the minor details when he first came in.
01:45It was the fundamentals that were wrong for Shrewsbury Town, but now it's just those minor details,
01:50those individual things that they need to correct and get right.
01:54Aside from Perry and Kasselbein, the team selection for Stevenage is pretty self-explanatory,
02:02not expecting too much to change between now and Saturday.
02:07I'd be very surprised if the starting XI is very, very, very similar to the one that we saw against Huddersfield on Tuesday night.
02:15Of the three games that Shrewsbury have had in this eight-day spell, this is the one that you would have looked at
02:21and thought they had the best chance of winning.
02:23Two tough games they were against Bolton and Huddersfield, both sides who have been in the Premier League in recent years,
02:30so Town will hope that they can get back to winning ways in Shropshire at the weekend.
02:35All your reaction from this morning's press conference will be hitting the Shropshire Star website over the next few hours.
