00:54Hello and welcome from the south, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from DLS News Studios in Havana,
00:58Cuba.
00:59We begin with the news.
01:16The Ministry of Health of Lebanon issued a report confirming that since the beginning
01:20of the Israeli aggression in October 2023, 3,445 people have been killed and 14,599 injured.
01:29During the recent attacks, the Zionist Army of Israel destroyed buildings in the southern
01:32suburbs of Beirut and other localities such as Ain Kana, Ramadi and Fard Vila.
01:38Lebanese authorities also reported that in many of these military incursions, the occupation
01:43army employed the use of white phosphorus bombs, which are prohibited by international
01:48law.
01:49The Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, declared that it is unacceptable to
01:53discuss any ceasefire proposal that includes any kind of freedom of movement for the Israeli
01:58Army inside the nation and reaffirmed Lebanon's position that it would not allow any violation
02:03of national sovereignty.
02:09And in France, the court ordered the release of the Lebanese resistance fighter and activist
02:13George Ibrahim Abdallah after 40 years of imprisonment.
02:17Persecutors informed on Friday that the activist will be granted conditional release as of
02:22next December 6th, under the condition that he leaves the French territory as soon as
02:26possible and does not return to the country.
02:29Abdallah, born in the Lebanese village of Kourbayat in 1951, was a former member of
02:35the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and founder of the Lebanese Armed Revolutionary
02:39Factions, a group which carried out a series of operations in defense of the Palestinian
02:43cause.
02:44The Lebanese revolutionary was accused in 1984 of participating in the assassinations
02:50of a U.S. soldier and Israeli diplomat in the city of Paris, in addition to the attempted
02:54murder of the Consul General of the United States, Robert Holmes, in Strasbourg.
03:05And the symbol of the Carnation Revolution, Celeste Calleiro, who in 1974 put an end to
03:10the dictatorship in Portugal, passed away this November 15th at the age of 91.
03:15Born on May 2nd, 1933, in a humble family in Lisbon, her life took a turn on the morning
03:21of April 25th, 1974, when she was on her way to the restaurant where she worked in the
03:26center of the Portuguese capital.
03:28Calleiro handed red carnations to the military who took part in the Portuguese Revolution.
03:35The red carnation quickly became the symbol of this bloodless coup d'etat.
03:38In this context, the Communist Party to which she belonged affirmed that her legacy and
03:43convictions endure in the collective memory.

04:00We'll be right back, stay with us.
04:05Welcome back.
04:12In Venezuela, the National Congress of the Bolivarian Historical Bloc continues.
04:16On Easter's day, we go live with our special envoy in Caracas, Belen de los Santos, for
04:21all the details as it continues to be held.
04:24Exactly, Luis, hello, how are you?
04:31We are here at the Grand Congress of the Historical Bloc in Venezuela.
04:36This is the third day of the Congress, as debates are underway.
04:41So let's talk a little bit about what this Congress is and what is their objective.
04:45So this is an instance of participatory democracy.
04:49So this Congress has been underway since Thursday, and this is only the culmination of a process
04:56that started in September when the government proposed to the assemblies, the delegates,
05:03the organizations all over the territory to debate in each assembly, in each territory,
05:10in each productive sector with every generation of the society to debate what was Venezuela
05:16going to do regarding the strategic points that face the country, what Venezuelans are
05:23calling the 70s, that is the seven transformations that they seem, that they deem are essential
05:32to think not only the coming term in office, but also the next 30 years.
05:38So these are topics that go from modernizing the economy, the participation in politics,
05:45also social well-being, also security.
05:48So these are very big and central topics, and the idea is that the bases are set to
05:57discuss these topics, bring their proposals from every territory, and come together now
06:02in Caracas to debate among all the different sectors, and then draw some conclusions that
06:09they're going to present to the executives.
06:11So that is the objective of this Congress.
06:15And today is the second day of the working spaces, the working tables.
06:21The debate was going to be centered specifically around yesterday, the second day, but it was
06:28so extensive, there were so many proposals, it was such an amount of participation that
06:35at the closing of the day yesterday, there was a special message delivered by President
06:42Nicolás Maduro in which he asked the delegates to extend discussions one more day.
06:47The idea is that the tables, let's recall that all the delegates are separate here in
06:52the Congress, and there are seven assemblies, each one is debating one central topic, and
06:59the tables are underway right now.
07:03They're continuing what they have been doing yesterday, and also one extra request from
07:09President Maduro yesterday was that they focus their discussion today on the concept,
07:16the theoretical concept of the historic bloc, that is a Gramscian concept that the delegates
07:23are discussing to really understand what scenario they are facing in right now, what challenges
07:29lie ahead, and how to bring proposals to really tackle all these issues in the different territories.
07:37So that is what is happening here yesterday.
07:41The Minister of the Interior, Diosdado Cabello, closed the day with a speech to the audience
07:47here and so tables are underway right now.
07:51We will continue bringing you all the updates and a little bit of what is happening at each
07:55of these tables in the upcoming news brief.
07:59I will stay in touch with you in Caracas as this Congress is held in this third and final
08:07day of this historical bloc.
08:09Let's now watch a special report that Belen de los Santos sent yesterday as a summary
08:16of what happened on its second day.
08:28The Grand Congress of the Historical Bolivarian Bloc is underway in Caracas.
08:33On its second day, the delegates from all over the country have gathered in separate
08:37assemblies, each one dedicated to one of the key topics of strategic transformation known
08:44as the 70s, that is economy, independence, peace, security, social well-being, political
08:51participation, ecology, and geopolitics.
08:59The significance of this Congress is that it is a convening Congress, broad, in which
09:03the voice of the people is truly heard, throughout the sectors from below, because they are building
09:08an agenda for action, from now to 2030 and beyond.
09:13It is also compared to the follow-up of the Ayacucho Congress, that allows all the strength
09:18of the five generations, to meet and be heard, to seek solutions for our communities, our
09:23communes, our communal people, and for the five generations above all.
09:29So it will allow us to build an agenda with the warmth of the people.
09:36In this way, indigenous leaders, rural workers, women and men from different productive sectors
09:41have come together to bring their vision to the collective construction of the strategic
09:46roadmap for the upcoming 30 years.
09:50Since September, each territory has gathered in assemblies to discuss the development proposals
09:55that are now being discussed at national level.
10:01At this moment we have some concrete proposals for the unification of the communal circuits,
10:06within the communal councils, where we, as the food and supply sector, can produce from
10:12the territory and be able to supply our mission base or our centers that are the most vulnerable
10:17to the situation of the blockade against which Venezuela is still fighting, working, standing
10:23up in this reality.
10:26Convince, organize, and motivate to transform.
10:34That is the motto leading the event.
10:36The Congress has become a space to spark popular participation, an instance for every sector
10:41to step up and take a leading role in the construction of the Bolivarian state.
10:49Today, thanks to this revolutionary government, to our President Nicolás Maduro Moros, who
10:55has called us to this new moment.
10:58To the construction of a new state, a new state in which we, the indigenous peoples,
11:04are going to participate, so we are proposing at the different work tables how the actions
11:09have to be carried out in the indigenous communities.
11:13For that reason, here we are, doing the work, making proposals, elaborating and raising
11:19proposals after having carried out community assemblies in all the indigenous communities,
11:25in the 3,023 indigenous communities.
11:32In a geopolitical context marked by the consolidation of the far right in different areas of the
11:37globe, a world that openly threatens the revolutionary process, the Grand Congress of the Bolivarian
11:43bloc seeks to build true sovereignty, to combat foreign interference through the enthusiasm
11:49of Venezuelan women and men willing to continue fighting for its ongoing socialist revolution.
12:00I consider that this is a process that is taking place for the first time in the entire
12:04planet, that a President summons the bases, summons his people to build together a national
12:10government plan from the communities, from the bases, from the confirmation of the communal
12:15councils, where children, young people, the elderly, housewives, they all participate,
12:22where there is a collective and protagonist participation of what is the popular power,
12:27what we call the original power, just as our Commander Chavez taught us, and here is the result.
12:41The 29th Ibero-American Summit of States and Governments held in the city of Cuenca,
12:49Ecuador, closed this November 15th without any official declaration. After the end of
12:53the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador, Gabriela Somerville,
12:59informed that this decision was due to the lack of consensus among the 19 countries that
13:05participated in the event. The group is made up of 22 nations, but this time there was
13:09no representation from Mexico, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. All countries except Argentina
13:14were in favor of supporting declarations on gender equity, the fight against climate change,
13:19the promotion of the 2030 Agenda, and condemning the U.S. blockade against Cuba, among other
13:24issues.

14:07Welcome back. The President of Honduras, Jair Marcaso, informed that at least one person
14:11died and four departments are affected by the passage of Tropical Storm Sara. Regarding
14:15damage to infrastructure, the President reported the collapse of several bridges, leaving some
14:19municipalities cut off. Previously, he reported that more than 45,000 Hondurans have been
14:25affected after the passage of Tropical Storm Sara, which has also left at least 87 homes
14:30damaged. The Management Office issued an alert for 72 hours in four departments, yet alerted
14:35in three, and green alert in the Department of Santa Bárbara.
14:44In Nicaragua, the government of Daniel Ortega issued a yellow alert declaration due to the
14:49presence of Tropical Storm Sara, located about 45 kilometers from Guanaja Island in Honduras.
14:55The government informed that rains are expected for the next three days due to the effect
14:59of the rhythm and intensity of Tropical Storm Sara. It is expected that this could generate
15:04flash floods and landslides in the mountainous volcanic areas of the country. The executive
15:09ordered the co-directions of CINEPRED to proceed with the execution of the response plans in
15:16the affected territories. Currently, the population was oriented to keep informed through the
15:20official bulletins of the institutions that are a part of the national system for the
15:24prevention, mitigation and attention to territorial disasters.
15:35In the United States, President-elect Donald Trump appointed Caroline Leavitt as White
15:40House press secretary, who was the face of his campaign, a spokesperson and who was also
15:45part of the White House communications team during his first term. During the campaign,
15:51Leavitt stood out as a recurring figure on conservative networks, defending Trump's
15:56controversial statements and showing a willingness to take on media outlets. When Trump takes
16:01office, Leavitt will become the youngest White House press secretary at the age of
16:0527. The position of press secretary is one of the most significant in the White House
16:10as the person who holds it becomes. The face of the administration has the duty of answering
16:15journalists' questions in press conferences that, at times, become quite combative.
