00:00Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Televisual Studios
00:15in Havana, Cuba.
00:16We begin with the news.
00:17In Lebanon, the
00:36number of dead and wounded rose as a result of the recent Israeli escalation of operations
00:40against the Lebanese people.
00:41The Emergency Health Operations Center of the Lebanese Health Ministry said in a statement
00:46that in the last 24 hours, the number of dead rose to 26 and the wounded to 144, bringing
00:52the figure to 2,255 killed and another 10,524 wounded.
00:58The Syrian attacks have also provoked the forced displacement of thousands of Lebanese
01:02into Syrian territory, escaping the destruction and shortages caused by the continuous Israeli
01:07bombardments.
01:08It should be noted that the Tel Aviv Army continues its operations targeting mainly
01:12villages in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.
01:20Also in Lebanon, the health ministry reported at least 15 people killed in the latest Israeli
01:24shelling.
01:25Israeli forces carried out illegal raids and attacks against the south and inner Lebanon
01:29territory.
01:30Local media reported that the Syrian occupation ordered Lebanese citizens to leave their homes
01:35and to move north of the Awali River.
01:38The conflict between Tel Aviv and Beirut worsened on October 1 after Israel launched
01:43a land invasion against southern Lebanon, which has caused at least 2,200 deaths and
01:49has left some 10,000 wounded.
01:55The Lebanese resistance neutralized several Israeli incursions attempts south of the border.
02:00Hezbollah forces launched missiles at a Zionist military brigade attempt to invade a village.
02:05The operation destroyed several explosive devices as well as an airport vehicle.
02:09The two sides exchanged fire, resulting in casualties among Israeli forces.
02:13The resistance has been carrying out actions against military targets for several weeks
02:17now.
02:18However, Tel Aviv forces do not control any of the strategic hills they have tried to
02:23take over.
02:29In Palestine, the Israeli aggression has killed more than 42,227 people to date and wounded
02:36over 98,000 people.
02:38Local authorities reported that Israeli occupation forces committed four massacres in the last
02:4324 hours.
02:44Health authorities registered at least 52 Palestinians killed in the latest Zionist
02:48attacks.
02:49Local media denounced that Israel is shelling shelters and residential homes in northern
02:54Gaza, injuring hundreds.
02:56Israelis also denounced that occupation forces prevent the movement of emergency teams, making
03:00it difficult to rescue the wounded and those trapped under the rubble.
03:10In Palestine, doctors at three northern Gaza hospitals say fuel and supplies are running
03:14low, while Israeli forces continue fighting refugee camps on other areas of the cities.
03:19Let's see more details.
03:24Despite international calls for a ceasefire and condemnation of attacks on refugee camps
03:28and so-called safe zones, Israel continues to indiscriminately bombard Gaza and block
03:33humanitarian aid, medical supplies and fuel.
03:38In this regard, the Kemal Adwan Hospital and the nearby Al-Ara and Indonesia hospitals
03:43are facing a catastrophic situation that will worsen in the coming hours if there is no
03:48fuel supply for emergency services.
03:53The number of those arriving on a daily basis at the reception and emergency department
03:57of Al-Ara Hospital are very large numbers of injured people.
04:01We perform dozens of surgical operations.
04:04Medical teams work for more than 16 hours a day to save the lives of citizens in northern
04:09Gaza Strip.
04:10We, at Al-Ara Hospital, are truly suffering from a shortage of medicines and medical supplies,
04:15severe shortages, zero fuel stocks.
04:18We work in very difficult and very complex conditions.
04:25As of Thursday, Kemal Adwan, Al-Ara and Indonesia hospitals had a total of at least 196 patients
04:32admitted, including several pregnant women about to give birth, according to doctors,
04:37who said more wounded were still arriving.
04:44President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the Israeli regime of expanding genocidal
04:49warfare in the region.
04:52The Turkish president remarked on the first year of the recent Israeli genocidal escalation
04:56against the Palestinian people and the continuing aggression against other peoples in the region,
05:02urging the international community not to ignore the Israeli aggression as it aims not
05:06only to maintain stability in Palestine and Lebanon but also seeks to expand the conflict
05:11to the whole region.
05:13Erdogan also confirmed that his country is keeping a watchful eye through its intelligence
05:17service on the Syrian occupation moves.
05:39In France, President Emmanuel Macron reiterated his demand for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon.
05:45By means of a statement, the French president set out his position in a telephone conversation
05:50with the president of the Lebanese Chamber of Deputies, Nabi Berri.
05:53He condemned the civilian massacres orchestrated by the Israeli army in the Middle East and
05:57also expressed his great concern about the intensification of the Israeli bombardments
06:02and their consequences for the Lebanese population.
06:04It is important to remember that the French government, along with other countries of
06:08the European Union, were among the main allies of Israel in its genocide against the Palestinian
06:13people.
06:14Let's take a short break, but remember you can join us on Tiktok at Telestri English
06:21where you will find news in different formats, news updates and much more.
06:28We'll be right back, stay with us.
06:39Welcome back.
06:41Haiti's Presidential Transitional Council rejects the brutal repatriation of its citizens
06:46from the Dominican Republic, claiming they violated international conventions.
06:50The acting agent-executive ratifies that Santo Domingo is carrying out racist deportation
06:55operations, denouncing the violation of the clauses of the repatriation protocol signed
07:00between both nations in 1999, in addition to several international agreements.
07:05The inter-ministerial commission created to deal with this contingency has identified
07:09severe irregularities in the process, such as the stripping of the identity documents
07:13of Haitian citizens and family separations, including minors.
07:23And in Venezuela, indigenous peoples march through the streets of Caracas to commemorate
07:27the day of indigenous resistance, raising banners of anti-colonialism and anti-imperialism.
07:32Let's see the details with Osvaldo Salles.
07:37Nobody discovered us.
07:38We already existed.
07:40Claim the indigenous nations that inhabit Venezuelan territory on the day of indigenous
07:45resistance, 532 years after the Spanish invasion of Abaya, Ayala.
07:51Until now, we have still felt invasions against our peoples.
07:55And one more day, we demonstrate that we have resistance.
07:59We have resisted our indigenous peoples.
08:02No more invasions.
08:03No more genocide.
08:08We existed.
08:09We were not discovered.
08:10We, the indigenous peoples and communities, are voices of peace, voices that from our
08:17ancestors we express that we were in our lands, in our spaces, and the Spaniards invaded us
08:23on a day like today.
08:27In Venezuela, the indigenous nations represent approximately 2.8% of the population and live
08:35in just over 3,000 communities.
08:37For them, colonialism continues to exist, although it is changing its forms with the
08:43passage of time.
08:45Today, we vindicate the existence of the more than 50 indigenous peoples that exist in Venezuela
08:52and more than 400 indigenous peoples throughout the Americas in all of our Ayala area.
08:58We continue to vindicate that historical struggle that today we see as a new colonialism that
09:03tries to criminalize, that tries to make history and fundamentally our indigenous peoples invisible.
09:10The indigenous peoples valued the legislative advances that the Bolivarian Revolution has
09:18given them and remembered with affection President Hugo Chavez for having made the
09:23native nations visible.
09:27We are here, 532 years of our indigenous resistance.
09:33Here we are, the native peoples, made visible thanks to the law given to us by our President,
09:39Hugo Chavez.
09:44Commander Chavez made us visible and for us.
09:48October 12th is to thank Supreme Commander Hugo Chavez and our President Nicolas Maduro
09:53and tell him that we, the indigenous peoples, are with him no matter what struggles may
09:59come.
10:03The indigenous nations raise the banner of struggle against the colonialism that persists
10:07and seeks to crush the cultural legacy and contributions of the original peoples.
10:13Even after 532 years of invasion and genocide.
10:21The Colombian Army has launched a significant military operation against FARC dissidents,
10:26particularly targeting the Central General Staff Faction led by Ivan Mordiscos.
10:32This operation follows a violent attack on the town of Morales where dissidents assaulted
10:37a police command post resulting in death of two police officers and injuries to six others.
10:42The EMC faction alone is estimated to have around 4,000 fighters operating across various
10:48regions in Colombia.
10:50In this regard, General Luis Cardoso, Commander of the Colombian National Army, said that
10:53one of their main goals is to reclaim a town of over 8,000 people currently under the control
11:00of FARC dissident groups.
11:05Today, an operation called Perseo, which had been planned for several months, was launched.
11:15This operation involved all military forces, the police, with support from our prosecutor's
11:20office, and brought together all available resources to reclaim a town of over 8,000
11:25inhabitants that had been under the control of FARC dissident groups.
11:34This shows and demonstrates that there is no territory off-limits to the public forces,
11:42and that criminal groups cannot impose their control and restrict the population's rights
11:46and freedoms.
11:47The President of Colombia, Gustavo Percho, announced his upcoming visit to El Plateado,
11:54an area in the southwest of the country where a military operation has been deployed to
11:58restore peace.
11:59By orders of the head of state, the troops of the military forces who were deployed in
12:03the village located in Argelia, in the Department of Cauca, there the situation of violence
12:08created by armed groups outside the law has aggravated the conditions of its inhabitants,
12:12restricting their fundamental rights.
12:14The President assured that his entire cabinet will move to the area to draw together with
12:19the inhabitants an investment plan.
12:26And the President of Honduras, Yomara Castro, has called on everyone to follow the example
12:30of General Francisco Morazan while committing herself to guarantee free, fair and transparent
12:36elections.
12:37During the promotion ceremony of the National Armed Forces, a day in which the country commemorates
12:41the birth of the national hero, the President ratified that free and transparent elections
12:46are assured.
12:47In her speech, inspired by the example and principles of Francisco Morazan, she called
12:52on everyone to be loyal to the homeland and listed a series of laws and agreements that
12:56have been reached during her administration and that protect and guarantee the sovereignty
13:00and wealth of the country.
13:06In the United States, a second shooting in less than 12 hours took place in Oklahoma
13:10in the southern part of the country, leaving one dead and 12 wounded.
13:14The incident was reported at 12.30 a.m. local time.
13:17According to Sgt.
13:18John Sakuta, one of the police officers who responded to the call, the operation occurred
13:22after a strong argument between the attendees of a party.
13:25In the parking lot area, the weapons came out and the deadly result was produced.
13:30Police have not informed neither the age nor the sex of the wounded.
13:34The same source created that there are detainees for the fact without offering for details
13:39according to the file of the armed violence.
13:41This would be the 416th mass shooting so far in the year 2024.

14:18Haiti's Presidential Transitional Council rejects the brutal repatriation of its citizens
14:22from the Dominican Republic, claiming they violate international conventions.
14:26The acting Haitian executive ratifies that Santo Domingo is carrying out racist deportation
14:32operations denouncing the violation of the clauses of the repatriation protocol signed
14:36between both nations in 1999.
14:39In other news, in Russia, the foreign ministry denies that the BRICS Group wants or intends
14:43to become a military alliance following recent accusations by Western nations.
14:48U.S. Statement Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recalled that the BRICS are a multidisciplinary
14:52strategic partnership based on three key pillars, politics and security, economy and finance,
14:58cultural and humanitarian relations.
15:00The Russian foreign minister also added that one of the main objectives of the BRICS is
15:05to create a fair and multilateral world economic system with no room for war or military interests.
15:11It is important to note that these statements came only two weeks before the 14th BRICS
15:17Summit to be held in the Russian city of Kazan from 22nd to the 24th.
15:30In Pakistan, at least 11 people were killed and eight injured in an inter-tribal clash
15:35in Khurram district in the northwest of the region.
15:37A local official stated a shootout between rival tribes seems to have provoked clashes
15:43with women and children among the victims.
15:45He also detailed that vehicles attacked in different areas of the district provoked more
15:49victims but the motives that started the conflict are still unknown.
15:54In this sense, he assured that efforts are being made to secure travel routes and restore
15:58normality in the area while the wounded were transferred to a hospital.
16:07In Brazil, at least seven people are reported dead and more than one million inhabitants
16:24without power as a consequence of the strong storms in the state of Sao Paulo.
16:28According to civil defense, the fatalities recorded were due to falling trees and collapsed
16:33infrastructure walls as a result of the strong winds.
16:36Also local authorities detailed that wind gusts reached on Friday a record speed of
16:40107.6 km per hour in the south area of Sao Paulo.
16:45For this part, the power distribution company of Sao Paulo declared that it has managed
16:49to re-establish the supply to some 650,000 people out of the 1.4 million customers that
16:54were affected without power service due to the weather phenomenon.
17:13Nicaragua celebrates the second Marimba Festival, a musical instrument representative of the
17:18cultural heritage of the Central American country.
17:42In the city of Masaya, known as the cradle of Nicaraguan folklore, the second Marimba
17:462024 Festival was held, an event that highlights the marimba as a traditional instrument that
17:52is also considered an indigenous piano and cultural symbol of Nicaragua.
18:16It is a melodic percussion instrument with 22 keys tuned in our major scale.
18:36It is said that the marimba has more than 180 years here in this area of Nicaragua.
18:41The marimba is practically a national instrument of Nicaragua.
18:54The art of playing the marimba is a talent that has been passed down from generation
18:58to generation, forming part of the Nicaraguan cultural legacy.
19:06This is a gift that God has already given me, I feel proud to walk with this marimba,
19:10which is a tradition that should not be lost.
19:13It is the pride of Nicaragua, at least in Masaya is where all the folklore was born.
19:23It's the first time and I'm happy because it's something very valuable for the values
19:27of those who are growing up.
19:30I love it, I am happy because we are planning to put it in a class that our government is
19:34giving to the children, so I know what kind of instrument he might like to play.
19:43I think it is very important to maintain the culture and transmit it to the new generations.
19:49For example, my father gave it to me, I will transmit it to my son.
19:54And it is important that people and children learn how it is executed because it is an
19:59honor for the nation.
20:17The government of Nicaragua promotes this type of activities with the purpose of preserving
20:21and promoting the cultural richness of the people, ensuring that these traditions live
20:26on and are strengthened in the new generations.
20:32This is where we highlight our cultural heritage with what our government promotes, the rescue
20:37and preservation of our culture, a fundamental tradition that also distinguishes us not only
20:42at the departmental level, but also at the international level.
21:05With ancestral roots, the marimba has accompanied festivities and celebrations throughout the
21:10country, becoming a symbol of cultural identity.
21:13Let's discover together the history, rhythms and magic that make the marimba the pride
21:18of Nicaragua.
