00:43the military in Guayaquil.
00:49Hello welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisu Studios in Havana,
00:53Cuba.
00:54Beginning with the news.
01:13In Palestine, Israeli occupational forces continued for a second consecutive day their
01:17siege of Tulkarem town.
01:18Saudi soldiers killed eight people and caused widespread destruction.
01:24The Al-Arafa news agency reported that Israeli bulldozers are deliberately destroying all
01:27infrastructure causing water and electricity cuts.
01:30During the day, Israeli forces prevented citizens from going about their daily activities, especially
01:35children and the sick.
01:37The Palestinian Health Ministry said two women and a teenager were killed by Israeli forces
01:42in Tulkarem and Norsham's camp in the occupied West Bank.
01:51At the same time, occupation forces besieged the Al-Ahmadi camp south of Ramallah.
01:55The Red Crescent reported that three youths were wounded by Israeli soldiers on the day.
02:00In parallel, the Tel Aviv regime carried out a large-scale campaign of kidnappings where
02:06the detainees were taken blindfolded.
02:16In this context, occupation army soldiers took a Palestinian prisoner out of an Israeli
02:20jail and used him as a human shield while continuing their incursion into the town
02:25of Al-Ahmadi.
02:32During his traditional Christmas address held in Westley at St. Peter's Basilica, Pope
02:39Francis called for a ceasefire in Gaza before thousands of faithful attendees underscoring
02:44the grave humanitarian situation in the area.
02:49I think of the Christian communities in Israel and Palestine, particularly in Gaza, where
02:56the humanitarian situation is extremely grave.
03:01May there be a ceasefire.
03:04May the hostages be released and aid be given to the people worn out by hunger and by war.
03:11In another note, in Palestine, on Christmas Eve, Christians gathered for mass at the Church
03:18of the Holy Family in Gaza City, the place where several displaced civilians have found
03:23shelter amid the ongoing genocide carried out by Israel in the region.
03:26It is the only Latin Catholic church in the Strip and has suffered extensive damage during
03:31the Syrian aggression.
03:33The mass was limited to prayers inside the building, with worshippers expressing their
03:37hopes for an end to the Israeli attacks and wishing for a return to peace.
03:42The onslaught of the Tel Aviv offensive against Palestine since October 23 has overshadowed
03:47the celebrations associated with the date, since over 1,000 Christian citizens have had
03:53to seek refuge away from their homes or been forced to flee the area altogether.
03:58The situation this past year was very difficult for us, and this year is also difficult because
04:09of the atmosphere of war, the martyrs, and the life that we live.
04:14We cannot express it.
04:16It's a tragedy, but we must celebrate the coming and birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
04:25We hope that next year, God willing, on this day, we will celebrate in our homes and celebrate
04:29in the city of Bethlehem.
04:30We used to travel every year and celebrate there and the atmosphere was beautiful.
04:34God willing, we will celebrate in Jerusalem and in Bethlehem and the war will end.
04:38This is the most important thing for us and the most important thing we ask for at the
04:41moment because the situation is very difficult and we're very unhappy.
04:47In West Bank's Bethlehem, people reflect on how the Israeli offensive has impacted their
04:52town, which looks bleak in comparison with previous years during Christmas time.
04:59We feel very bad because Bethlehem always was crowded with people from all over the
05:09world in this period of time, in Christmas.
05:13But look, you can see, it's no people.
05:19We want to feel that we are people.
05:21We want to feel with Jesus Christ.
05:26We want to celebrate something spiritual, that's all.
05:32But we have nothing to celebrate music or anything else, nothing.
05:38Just pray for peace, that's all.
05:45The Christian world celebrates Christmas amidst traditions, gifts, and parties.
05:50Thousands of citizens around the world celebrate Christmas with various processions and carols,
05:55even local traditions.
05:56The festivity combines faith and culture in a diversity of expressions.
06:00Countries like Turkey, Iraq, the Vatican, South Korea, Argentina, Chile, among others
06:05gather families to commemorate the essence of the festivity.
06:14President of Bolivia Luis Arce shared a Christmas message on December 24th, where he highlighted
06:19the people's hard work in the face of the nation's difficult year.
06:28This difficult year has taught us that with hard work and solidarity, we Bolivians can
06:32renew ourselves and move towards a better future.
06:35I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and recognize the effort of everyone
06:38to overcome this stage and move towards a prosperous Bolivia full of hope.
06:45And the President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum expressed through a Christmas message her
06:49wishes for peace, love and prosperity to the Mexican people currently living in the country
06:54as well as those abroad.
07:00Today is a special day for all Mexicans, for Mexican families.
07:05I wish you to spend it as a family, that you can be together.
07:09Remember that material things are not important, that the most important thing is love for
07:14our fellow men and women, love for the family, for children, for mothers, for the elderly.
07:21We wish you have a great time on this day, especially, of course, to all Mexicans who
07:26are in our territory, in the 32 states of the Republic, but also to all Mexicans who
07:32are outside our territory at this time, particularly to all Mexicans who are in the United States.
07:38I wish you all the best.
07:39We thank you for everything you do for your families and for Mexico with much affection.
07:45Have a Merry Christmas Eve and a Merry Christmas.
07:50Now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at Teles

09:07crash in Aktau during the opening of a CIS summit in St. Petersburg.
09:16Before we begin our work, unfortunately, I must say a few words about the tragedy that
09:21occurred today in Aktau.
09:27The plane crashed.
09:29There are casualties.
09:33There are many injured, and as we just spoke with you, on your behalf I would like to express
09:37condolences to the families of the deceased and all the injured.
09:44Let us hope for their recovery.
09:46In agreement with the President of Kazakhstan, a Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations
09:51plane with medical personnel and the necessary additional equipment on board is en route
09:55to Aktau.
09:59In the Russian Republic of Norilsk, the Emergency Ministry reported an explosion in the Vladikavkaz
10:05Mall, where at least one person was killed and two more were injured.
10:09The explosion took place in the evening hours at the Alanya Mall in the restoration area,
10:15causing a fire that spread over more than 800 meters, which was extinguished at 10.15 local time.
10:21In statements to the local media, the governor of North Ossetia, Sergei Meneilo, said that
10:27the only victim was a woman who was ejected into the street due to the explosive blast.
10:32Meneilo also explained that investigations are already underway to determine the causes
10:37of the incident.
10:38Since the building does not have gas, a preliminary hypothesis of an equipment failure is being
10:43considered.
10:44An opposition SOS party filed a request with the Constitutional Court to demand that the
10:53office of the Romanian President be recognized as vacant due to the expiration of Klaus Ioannis'

12:09around the world, Washington considers possession and control of Greenland an absolute necessity.
12:14These statements were rejected by the island's authorities, who responded sharply,
12:18We are not for sale and never will be.

12:39meeting of the High-Level Consultation Mechanism on Human Exchanges.
12:43The foreign ministers went over the possible lifting of the ban on the import of fishery
12:47products from Japan and the release of radioactive-treated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant
12:53into the ocean.
12:54This visit follows last November's meeting between the presidents of China and Japan
12:59in Peru, where the two leaders agreed to make progress towards a strategic and mutually
13:04advantageous relationship.
13:12A memo released by the United States National Security Archive has revealed that, between
13:161950 and 1960, CIA agents used drugs, mind control, and other techniques on suspected
13:22spies.
13:23The memo states that mind control techniques were developed in the context of the Kutra,
13:29Blue Bird, and Arctic Shock programs, and included the use of drugs, hypnosis, isolation,
13:36and sensory preparation.
13:39In several cases, the experiments were conducted without consent.
13:43It also affirms that these methods contributed to the development of U.S. interrogation techniques
13:47in Vietnam, Latin America, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Guantanamo Bay.
13:57And the ALBA-TCP member countries issue a communique rejecting statements made by the
14:01President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, about his intentions to take control

15:09of forced disappearances in the case of the four children detained by the military in
15:12Guayaquil.
15:13The judge, Tania Lur, issued measures of integral reparation, requesting that the state continue
15:19the investigation to discover the whereabouts of the children.
15:22For her part, Lur ordered the Ministry of Health to provide psychological support to

16:38minimum wage increase was finally defined.
16:41President Petro assured that this is a key step to reduce the serious wage situation
16:45left by the past neoliberal governments.
16:47In this sense, Petro announced the increase from Zipaquira, where he was meeting with the community.
16:53And I'm announcing here, today, that we are going to use these two figures, 5% average
17:01level of growth in the price of goods, and, on the other hand, 2.7% average level of unemployment.
17:14growth in the price of goods, and, on the other hand, 2.7% average level of growth in food prices.
17:27Afterwards, we are going to compare them with the increase in the minimum wage, the minimum
17:34wage that we are proposing for next year, effective January 1st.
17:42This growth will be 9.54%.

19:24The Ministry of the Environment emphasized that detailed reports are being requested
19:28from the entities involved in the order to analyze the declaration of an environmental
19:33emergency.
19:35If this declaration is approved, an immediate and short-term action plan will be implemented
19:39in coordination with the government of Pura to reinforce the actions already established.
