00:52Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos, from Televisa Studios
00:56in Havana, Cuba.
00:57We begin with the news.
01:16During the last 450 days of Israel's genocidal campaign against Palestinians in Gaza, Israel
01:22has used 88,000 tons of explosives against Palestinians.
01:26Through a communique issued this Sunday, the Gaza Information Office has reported that
01:30the Israeli regime has carried out 9,973 massacres in the Gaza Strip since last October 2023.
01:38So far, the Saudi entity has killed 45,514 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and 108,189
01:49others have been wounded.
01:51Despite the condemnations of the leading international bodies, the United Nations, and its resolutions
01:55to put an end to its genocide in Gaza, Israel continues to attack Palestinian civilians.
02:06Israeli occupation forces committed three new massacres in the Gaza Strip, resulting
02:10in the killing of at least 30 Palestinians and the injury of 99 others.
02:15The attack also targeted the Al-Wafa and the Ali Hospital.
02:19According to reports, emergency services are still unable to reach many victims and corpses
02:24trapped under rubble or scattered on the roads of the war-torn enclave, as Israeli occupation
02:29forces continue to obstruct the movement of ambulance and civil defense teams.
02:34Israel's genocidal onslaught continues unabated, despite UN Security Council calls for an immediate
02:39ceasefire and International Court of Justice directives urging action to prevent genocide
02:44and alleviate the severe humanitarian situation in Gaza.
02:53And in Palestine, relatives of the director of the Kamal Adwan Hospital, Hossam Abu Zafiyah,
02:58demanded his release after being captured by Israeli troops last Friday.
03:02According to family members and colleagues, the Israeli regime accused the doctor of being
03:07a Hamas agent and insists he must therefore be interrogated.
03:11The complainants stressed that Abu Zafiyah was forced to undress and was then beaten
03:16with an electric cable before being taken to an unknown location.
03:20It is believed that the doctor became a target of the Zionist regime after publishing videos
03:25in recent weeks giving details of the situation in the hospital where he worked, which is
03:29currently unable to reopen due to the Israeli siege.
03:37And in Syria, at least 11 people were killed following a new attack by the Israeli regime
03:41in the industrial area of Adra, located northeast of the country's capital.
03:46The authorities detailed that the bombing was carried out with missiles that targeted
03:49several stores and a warehouse, causing strong explosions and great destruction in the area.
03:54They also indicated that the death toll is preliminary and that operations to recover
03:57bodies from the rubble continue.
03:59In this context, Israel has intensified its airstrikes to destroy the military infrastructure
04:04and the remaining facilities of the Syrian army.
04:12And on Monday, the United Nations Security Council will address recent escalation between
04:16Israel and Yemen amid warnings of growing regional instability.
04:20The Tel Aviv delegation called for the meeting just five days after Israeli air raids on
04:24Sana'a International Airport, Red Sea Ports, and Yemeni power stations.
04:29Following last Thursday's bombings, the UN body confirmed numerous casualties, including
04:33at least three dead and several wounded UN workers.
04:36The attack on the airport took place while World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom
04:40Karabias was on site.
04:48And in Thailand, a fire at a hotel in Bangkok killed at least three people, including a
04:52Brazilian, a Ukrainian, and a U.S. citizen.
04:55The six-story hotel is located in Bangkok's Khao San tourist area, where several guests
05:00had to be rescued from the roof due to heavy smoke.
05:03Tourist police said a 24-year-old Brazilian tourist, a 27-year-old Ukrainian tourist,
05:08and a 35-year-old U.S. tourist died in hospital after the fire, while two Germans, one Japanese,
05:13one Chinese, and two Thai tourists were hospitalized.
05:16Authorities are investigating the causes of the incident, which occurred in a tourist
05:20area popular among backpackers on the emblematic places to spend New Year's Eve.
05:25Welcome to 2025.
05:45In Mayotte, city workers clean up the streets of the capital, Mamutsu, after Cyclone Chiro
05:50hit the territory in mid-December.
05:52After the passage of Cyclone Chiro, several villages of the capital of Mayotte were flooded
05:56with all kinds of vegetation and household waste, but after two weeks, the cleaning of
06:01the streets has begun with about 200 agents and 100 companies.
06:06From 7 a.m. local time, several main streets in the center of Mamutsu were closed to traffic
06:10to facilitate the passage of the cleaning teams.
06:13However, residents are skeptical about the work being done, claiming it is due to the
06:16upcoming visit of French Prime Minister François Bayrou.
06:25And in the Philippines, officials said a 5.6-meter earthquake struck the northern tip of Luzon,
06:32the country's largest and most densely populated island in north of the archipelago.
06:36The epicenter was located 55 kilometers below the surface of Luzon, between the municipalities
06:43of Bagudput and Claveria.
06:46There have been no reports of damage from the event, which occurred at 10.56 a.m. local
06:50time.
06:51The Philippines is located on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, one of the most active
06:55seismic and volcanic regions on the planet, as well as an area prone to the emergence
07:00of storms and other atmospheric systems of greater intensity.

07:45killed in the plane crash at Muan International Airport on Sunday.
07:49According to reports, most of the fatalities have already been moved to a temporary morgue.
07:54An official said that once they are ready to move the bodies after autopsies conducted
07:58by the investigating agencies, they will contact the families.
08:03The victims' belongings are being collected from the runway, and the area will be preserved
08:06intact as authorities investigate the exact cause of the crash.
08:10This represents one of the worst civil aviation accidents ever to occur on South Korean soil.
08:20In this context, rescuers found on Sunday one of the two black boxes of the plane.
08:26Official sources said the device is damaged, which could delay its analysis to determine
08:31the real causes of the tragedy, which occurred on the morning of December 29th when the flight
08:35returned from Thailand and landed at Muan International Airport.
08:39So far, it is reported that the plane had problems releasing the landing gear, hit a
08:43concrete fence, and caught fire after being hit by a bird.
08:46The accident is already considered the second deadliest in South Korea and one of the three
08:50worst landing accidents in the world.
08:53In South Korea as well, a joint investigation team on Monday requested an arrest warrant
08:58for President Jun Suk-kyo after he ignored three summons for questioning.
09:02The petition was filed with the Seoul Western District Court after alleging that Jun led
09:07an uprising and abused his authority by declaring martial law on December 3rd.
09:11The South Korean parliament impeached President Jun on December 14th and removed him from
09:16office for the next six months, pending his release.
09:19The announcement marks the first time a South Korean president has faced the possibility
09:23of arrest while in office.
09:31The plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the Labour Party concluded in North Korea
09:35after taking stock of the success achieved in the country during the year 2024.

09:46and was attended by full members as well as deputies and officials of the party's Central Committee.
09:53During the expanded meeting, the need to take drastic measures to overcome the negative
09:57elements hindering the normal development of the state and to work out a plan of struggle

10:05Central Committee was emphasized.
10:08In northwest India, farmers' protests led to the cancellation of more than 150 trains
10:13and roadblocks on dozens of highways.
10:15Local media reported that hundreds of farmers are rallying in 20 districts of Punjab state,
10:21known as the breadbasket of India.
10:23The demonstration was also accompanied by a strike call which has caused the closure
10:27of stores and factories all over Punjab.
10:30Members of two major agricultural groups, the farmers' movement and the workers' movement,
10:34all over Punjab.
10:35Members of two major agricultural unions demand that the central government comply
10:39with the legal guarantees to fix a minimum price for their crops, pensions for farmers,
10:44and the clearing of charges against several demonstrators.
10:54And in South Africa, the National Joint Operations and Intelligence Structure described as
10:59complex Monday's ongoing operation to rescue illegal miners in Still Fountain.
11:04In a communiqué, the government authority pointed out that the death of the mine is
11:08one of the aspects that directly affect the way the work is carried out, adding that the
11:12rescue team recommended that the necessary resources and experience be acquired, taking
11:17into account the practical risks involved.
11:20It is estimated that several hundred illegal miners remain in the mine to avoid arrest
11:25as a result of a police operation aimed at eliminating this phenomenon, which is not
11:29only damaging the country's economy, but is also a security problem for the communities.

12:03improve social conditions of citizens who were part of that political framework.
12:08The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics wanted to build a socialist society based on the
12:13ideals of freedom and equality.
