00:15about the disconnection of the national power grid.
00:21In the United States, Republican Party candidate Donald Trump wins presidential election.
00:30And in Palestine, the World Health Organization is currently evacuating 113 patients, mostly
00:36children from Gaza to the United Arab Emirates and Romania to receive medical care.
00:45Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:51To begin with the news, stay with us.
01:07Hurricane Rafael, a category 3 hurricane, made landfall on the island of Cuba with strong
01:12winds that caused the disconnection of the national power system.
01:15According to meteorological authorities, the hurricane reached winds of up to 185 kilometers
01:21per hour in several provinces of the Caribbean island.
01:24Also sustained rains were reported in the western region of the country, affecting infrastructures
01:30in some localities.
01:31In view of the climatic phenomenon, the national government evacuated several citizens and
01:36tourists who were in alert zones as part of the state's strategies to safeguard the
01:41population.
01:47For its part, the Cuban National Electric Union informed through its ex-account that
01:51at 2.30 p.m. local time, strong winds caused by the intense hurricane Rafael caused the
01:58disconnection of the national electric system.
02:01It added that contingency protocols are being applied.
02:10In Spain, the Italian restaurateur Giuseppe Perricone is currently assisting Valencians
02:16with meals as a way to help out the most needed in the Catarroja municipality.
02:26We arrived on Friday.
02:28The first day we had 2,500 meals, 2,240 meals.
02:33The second day we had about 600 meals left.
02:36We gave them all out on the second day and then we went to the supermarket to buy sandwiches
02:39while waiting for the other meals to arrive from Italy.
02:46In Cameroon, at least four people died following two landslides that occurred on the road in
02:51the municipality of Deschamps in the west of the country.
02:55It is reported that one of the landslides occurred in the morning hours and the second
02:59one happened when emergency teams were working at the site.
03:03For this reason, they called on the public to stay away from the affected area and urged
03:08drivers to respect safety regulations given the magnitude of the damages.
03:13Search and rescue operations continue so the death toll could still increase.
03:23In Indonesia, the government is currently working on relocating people as the region
03:27remains under the highest level of alert due to the still active Lewatobi-Lakeleki volcano
03:33which erupted on Sunday evening.
03:35The head of the National Disaster Management Agency, BNPB, Sura Janto, advanced that the
03:42around 16,086 people are being relocated to thwart future tragedies as thousands of residents
03:49live within a 7km radius of the crater.
03:53Most locals, particularly those in high-risk areas, agreed on moving out to safer places.
03:58The leader informed that so far the figure of evacuees has amounted to 4,436 people.
04:19In the United States, Republican Party candidate Donald Trump became the new president-elect.
04:24Donald Trump has won the US presidential election, defeating in the electoral votes count his
04:29Democratic contender Kamala Harris, crossing the 270 mark after securing Wisconsin.
04:36Trump's victory over Vice President Kamala Harris makes him the first former president
04:40to return to power in non-consecutive terms since Groover Cleveland regained the White
04:45House in the 1892 election.
04:48He is also the first convicted criminal to win the highest elected office in the United States.
04:54Republicans also took over the Senate, flipping seats in Ohio and West Virginia.
04:59As a result, this election is considered one of the most significant in US history, with
05:04outcomes that could shape both the nation's future and global politics over the next four years.
05:15Also in the United States, the Vice President Kamala Harris accepted the result of the presidential
05:20election that favored Donald Trump and she called for a peaceful transfer of power.
05:25On a press briefing, the US Vice President admitted her defeat in the electoral race
05:30against the Republican candidate and assured that the Democratic Party will be willing
05:34to engage in the transfer of power.
05:36Harris further underscored that although the undecided outcomes, she will always keep up
05:42fighting for gun regulation and the reduction of violence in the country.
05:46Likewise, the Vice President added that earlier in the day she held talks with the President-elect,
05:51Donald Trump, to congratulate him on his victory in the election.
05:55Let's listen to her statements.
06:00Now I know folks are feeling and experiencing a range of emotions right now.
06:07I get it.
06:10But we must accept the results of this election.
06:14Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory.
06:20I also told him that we will help him and his team with their transition and that we
06:27will engage in a peaceful transfer of power.
06:34In this context, in Erie, Pennsylvania, opinions are divided following the election's results.
06:44Right now I'm shocked.
06:45I didn't believe that.
06:47Right now President Trump is leading all the polls.
06:49I mean, it really don't matter what Kamala does.
06:53I'm happy for him.
06:56I think it's going to make it better for everybody.
06:58Yes, I do.
06:59I don't know what the hell is wrong with people.
07:05That's all I can explain it.
07:09I don't think, honestly, I don't think this country was ready for an African-American
07:15woman as president, which is why they voted for Trump.
07:19I'm very disappointed.
07:22I think that people voted according to fear and hate rather than what's best for this
07:30country long term.
07:32I voted for Trump because he is a businessman, a business person, I should say.
07:38Let's not put a gender on it, I guess.
07:42I was happy with him when he was in before, and then he lost the second election.
07:49I think I've seen America really make a downfall, and I'm glad he's back in.
07:59Detroit voters woke up to a Trump presidential victory after the unexpectedly large election
08:05triumph of President-elect Donald Trump.
08:11A little anxiety, I guess.
08:14I'm kind of neutral.
08:15I didn't like either party.
08:16So the party is, both parties are not what I grew up knowing, so I'm probably in the
08:23population that's in the middle, and I think that our parties are governed by the extremes
08:27right now.
08:28So I would have liked a different candidate to choose.
08:32I don't agree with other things that he believes in, like the mass deportation and women's
08:37rights and things like that.
08:38So I think those are bigger issues than that kind of thing.
08:41I don't want to say it on camera, but I'm not happy.
08:45Why?
08:47Because he wants to be a dictator.
08:50And I don't think he really, I don't think he likes people outside his race, so that's
08:56not going to be good for me and my people.
08:59So, I'm a little disappointed, but it's America.
09:08In Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed confidence that the country will keep up not
09:13only its sovereignty, but also its good bilateral relations with the United States after Trump's
09:18electoral victory.
09:23To all Mexicans, there is no reason whatsoever for concern.
09:28To our fellow citizens, their families here, Mexican businesswomen and businessmen, there
09:34is absolutely no reason to worry about.
09:37Mexico always moves forward.
09:40We are a free, independent and sovereign country, and there will be a good relationship with
09:46the United States.
09:52The Chinese government reaffirms that it will maintain its consistent policy towards the
09:56U.S., regardless of election results.
09:59Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Mao Ning said that they will continue to address the ties
10:04with Washington under the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and cooperation
10:10for the benefit of both nations.
10:12She also explained that in the last year, high officials of the United States visited
10:16China and committed themselves not to decouple the economies ready for cooperation and respect
10:21for the principle of one China.
10:23On the other hand, China rejected the recent investment restrictions enacted by the United
10:29States and aimed at bilateral trade in sectors such as microchips, artificial intelligence
10:34and quantum computing.

11:10Welcome back.
11:11In Lebanon, the Hezbollah resistance movement denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
11:16Netanyahu's intentions to expand his Zionist project to other territories in the region.
11:21The new Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Kassem, explained Netanyahu's goals
11:26to invade Lebanon.
11:28The leader, Ford, noted that the Israeli Prime Minister is willing to wipe out the Lebanese
11:33resistance, occupy Lebanon and change the map of West Asia.
11:37In addition, Kassem assured that Hezbollah has sufficient resources both in terms of
11:42armaments and forces to confront the Israeli aggression in the country.
11:46Likewise, Naim Kassem warned that the United States continues financing the actions of
11:51the Israeli regime.
11:52Furthermore, the Hezbollah's senior representative spoke out about the conditions for negotiations.
11:59By the time the Israeli enemy decides to stop the aggression, there is a path for negotiations
12:05that we have clearly defined, indirect negotiations through the Lebanese state and President Neba
12:10Berri, who carries the banner of political resistance.
12:14The new Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Kassem, pointed out the methods used
12:20by the Israeli regime in its Zionist project.
12:25The first factor is extermination, slaughtering civilians, injustice, occupation and brutality.
12:31This is what we witness in Gaza and Lebanon.
12:37Naim Kassem assured that the Hezbollah resistance movement will keep fighting for as long as
12:42it is necessary, indicating that they will not be defeated by a war of attrition.
12:48If they bet on the duration of the war to turn it into a war of attrition, don't hurry.
12:54If they want to establish a war of attrition, we are present.
12:58No matter how much time passes, we will stand firm, standing ready, facing them.
13:03They will not win even if it is a long time.
13:09The Russian Federation Council ratified the International Establishment Agreement,

13:31Dasaburov, emphasized that this partnership between the two countries was based on mutual
13:36respect for the sovereignty of states, territorial integrity and non-interference in internal
13:41affairs.
13:42The document consists of 23 articles which entail the expansion of cooperation in trade,
13:47economy, investment, science and technology, including the fields of space and peaceful
13:52nuclear energy.
13:58In Spain, the far-right Vox party announced to file a complaint against the Prime Minister
14:03Pedro Sánchez for the alleged crimes of reckless homicide and omission of assistance in the
14:09tragedy triggered by the passage of Tana Storm.
14:12In a press briefing, the leader of the far-right party, Santiago Abascal, considered that the
14:17situation in Valencia due to the passing of Tana was aggravated due to Sánchez's political
14:22actions.
14:23Abascal pointed out that the Prime Minister has maintained an insensitive attitude towards
14:28those affected, evading the situation by supposedly denying the military deployment and rejecting
14:34international aid.
14:35This allegation came despite the fact that, according to local media, the executive has
14:40deployed almost 15,000 troops to provide assistance in the affected areas.

15:35In Palestine, the World Health Organization is currently evacuating 113 patients, mostly
15:41children, from Gaza to the United Arab Emirates and Romania to receive medical care.
15:46The World Health Organization representative for the occupied Palestinian territory, Rick
15:51Pepper Korn, reported that the patients, mostly children with trauma injuries and chronic
15:56diseases, have been living in a large convoy via the Kerem Shalom crossing with Israel.

16:21Israeli occupation forces killed several students in Bethlehem after launching toxic gas canisters
16:27at schools in the town of Al Qader.

16:34schools at the end of the school day.
16:36Earlier in the morning, the Israeli military had also fired toxic gas canisters around
16:41the Al Qader secondary school for girls and in the vicinity of local shops, causing suffocation

17:16areas of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
17:19The attacks left dozens of civilians killed and wounded, as well as significant material
17:24and infrastructure damage in several areas.
17:27The bombings came shortly after the Israeli forces' spokesman for Arab media, Abishai
17:32Adrai, issued a warning urging residents of Beirut's southern suburb to evacuate the area.
17:43In Caracas, the Venezuelan-Russia Business Forum was held to strengthen relations for
17:48the sake of social and economic development.
17:50The event took place in the facilities of the International Center for Productive Investment.
17:56Regarding the meeting, the Russian ambassador in Venezuela, Sergei Melik Bagdasarov, praised
18:02the encounter and assured that both nations are boosting their productive areas.
18:06Currently, the diplomat recalled that Russia and Venezuela are enduring sanctions and unilateral
18:11coercive measures.
18:13Meanwhile, the Executive Vice President of Venezuela, Adelsi Rodriguez, highlighted that
18:18domestic exports to Russia increased by 453% in non-oil activities between 2022 and 2024.
18:26Furthermore, Rodriguez expressed that the country's economic projections show a 10%
18:31growth by the end of 2024.
18:34Production is recovering in a process of sustainability with our own efforts, guaranteeing national
18:40development.
18:41But you should know that the Venezuelan economy should be closing, as the president said,
18:46above 9% in 2024.
18:48The projections made by the International Monetary Fund are between 4 and 5%.
18:53But these are signs of an economy that is showing positive aspects to develop its productive
18:59On his keynote address at the First Russia-Venezuelan Business Forum, the Russian ambassador, Sergei

19:13On his keynote address at the First Russia-Venezuelan Business Forum, the Russian ambassador, Sergei
19:18Melik Bagdasarov, stressed that Moscow is working in conjunction with Caracas to boost
19:23the economic development of both nations.
19:30I believe that we are going to be very successful in the future because we have everything we
19:34need to withstand the illegal sanctions and unilateral coercive measures.
19:38We are going to continue this struggle by building new financial ties, new logistical
19:45ties, new commercial ties, transport and tourism ties with all the 18 engines of the Venezuelan
19:51economy and the engines of the Russian economy.
19:54That is why we are here.
20:00In Argentina, police officers assaulted senior citizens on Wednesday while they were trying
20:06to protest against the government of Javier Millet.
20:09Argentine retirees denounced that they were beaten by the authorities in the city of Buenos
20:13Aires as a way of repressing the social struggles of the sector.
20:17During the mobilizations, they had the support of the National University of Central Buenos
20:22Aires to show their solidarity with thousands of senior citizens who are suffering the neoliberal
20:27measures of Javier Millet.
20:29One of their main claims is the lack of medicines, since the pharmaceutical domestic companies
