00:00Cuba's Minister of Energy and Mines Vicente de la Oliva announced the restoration of the
00:16national power grid after overcoming a new disconnection that affected the country on
00:22Wednesday.
00:28The Syrian armed forces counter-attacked terrorist groups in northern Hama Governorate, killing
00:33over 300 extremists.
00:40In Palestine, Israeli forces shelled again the Amawasi safe zone in the Gaza Strip, killing
00:45at least 21 people and wounding dozens more.
00:56In Caracas, Venezuela, we begin with the news.
01:17We begin with the information, Cuba's Minister of Energy and Mines Vicente de la Oliva announced
01:22on Thursday that the national power grid was re-established after overcoming the new
01:26disconnection that affected the country on Wednesday.
01:30The minister explained that all the units that were in the process of starting up have
01:34entered the grid except for Felton 1 and is expected to be synchronized in the next few
01:39hours.
01:41On the other hand, the deputy technical director of the Antonio Guitera's power plant, Roman
01:49Pérez, informed that the problem with the automatic control had already been solved.
01:54The authorities also explained that the causes of this new disconnection of the national
01:58power grid are being investigated.
02:08And in Mexico, the relatives of the 43 disappeared students from Ayotzinapa met with President
02:13Claudia Sheinbaum at the National Palace on Wednesday.
02:16The parents of the students assured that the head of state offered to open a new path
02:20in the investigation of the case to clarify the events that took place in 2014 in Iguala,
02:28Guerrero.
02:29They also underscored that the commission for truth and access to justice for the case
02:34will continue as will the dialogue with the president in February of 2025.
02:39The meeting was attended by the secretary of the government of Guerrero, Rosa Isela
02:42Rodríguez, the secretary of human rights, Arturo Medina, and the special prosecutor
02:47for this case, Rosendo Gómez-Piedra.
02:58Today we are moving forward with a more fluid dialogue and we hope that will allow us to
03:05move ahead.
03:07And likewise, the lawyer of the family members explained that both the president and the
03:11parents are in agreement with the new investigation methodology for this case.
03:17A new methodology was discussed.
03:22What the president told us and what the parents agreed to is not to enter into the polarization
03:26that we come from.
03:28If we continue down that road, the dialogue will break down.
03:31And the president says she does not want the dialogue to break down, the parents don't
03:35want the dialogue to break down either, so we are going to build this new path.
03:40In the littoral penitentiary, the largest and most populated prison in the city of Guayaquil,
03:44Ecuador, is experiencing new riots.
03:47The events take place one day after the bombing of three cattle ranches in which 11 people
03:52were injured and several were arrested.
03:55According to local media, the number of victims is one dead and seven wounded, but the National
04:00Integral Service for People Deprived of Liberty has not yet presented an official report.
04:07Moreover, this Wednesday afternoon, police and military contingents, ambulances and forensic
04:12vehicles were seen entering the prison.
04:21The Buenos Aires and Argentina decided in commissions to approve the bill to create
04:26the university ticket, a historical demand of the student movement.
04:30For now, in the capital, there is only an educational ticket for the initial primary
04:35and secondary levels of education, and the initiative seeks to extend this free transport
04:41ticket to all higher education.
04:43The student centers that participated in the plenary session of the commission celebrated
04:47the impulse of the project, but demanded that the ticket be universal in nature, since the
04:54initiative establishes, among other things, income limits that they consider to be restrictive.
05:05And we stay in Argentina as retired workers and senior citizens rallied against President
05:14Javier Millet's decision to cut free medicines for the elderly.
05:18The plenary of retired workers summoned seniors to march onto the headquarters of the comprehensive
05:24medical assistance program, PAMI, across the country.
05:27The measure stipulates that retirees earning over $389,000 Argentinian pesos, that is less
05:34than half the basic food basket, will not automatically receive up to five free medicines,
05:41and also establishes that seniors with higher incomes will have to pay for their medicines.
05:47The elderly are among the sectors most affected by Millet's policies, who have received a
05:52sharp cut to their incomes in the first month of the libertarian government.
05:57And the heads of state of Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia will participate
06:09in the 65th Summit of the Southern Common Market, the Mercosur, together with associated
06:14states on Friday in the Uruguayan capital.
06:17The conclave will be held at Mercosur's permanent headquarters, and it will be the first time
06:22that Javier Millet, Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva, Santiago Peña and Luis Lacalle Poe
06:27will participate together in a summit of presidents of Mercosur, as the Argentine far-right president
06:33did not attend the last one.
06:35On the agenda of the meeting is the discussion on the European Union-Mercosur agreement,
06:41which is considered one of the central issues.
06:51And on Wednesday, Uruguay's electoral court proclaimed Yamandú Orsi of the Bratfram as
06:57president-elect of the South American country, and Carolina Cossé as the vice president.
07:02In the act of proclamation, the president of the court, Wilfredo Penco, read the corresponding
07:08act where it was ratified that the formula of Orsi and Cossé was the winner of the ballot
07:13held on November 24th against the binomial Álvaro Delgado and Valeria Ripoll.
07:18After the proclamation, Orsi recalled the words sent to them by international leaders
07:23on the night the results were announced.
07:34In other news, Brazilian President Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva signed decrees for the legalization
07:39of three new reserves.
07:41This brings to 13 the number of native peoples' territories that are recognized by the government
07:46since the beginning of his mandate in 2023.
07:50Numerous experts consider that these territories play an essential role in the fight against
07:55global warming as a shield against deforestation and fires devastating the Amazon and other
08:01regions of Brazil.
08:03In April of 2023, Lula had already legalized, by decree, the first six reserves of his mandate,
08:09putting an end to a five-year wait of the native peoples.
08:16And now we have our first short break coming up, but first, remember you can join us on
08:25TikTok at TELUS or English, where you will find news in different formats, news updates
08:29and much more.
08:33Join us.
08:55Welcome back from the south.
08:57The Syrian armed forces counter-attacked terrorist groups in northern Hama governorate, where
09:02over 300 extremists were annihilated.
09:05This way, the nation's army neutralized a terrorist attack in the Javad Zayn al-Badin
09:10town in northern Hama early on Thursday, making the armed groups withdraw.
09:15In this regard, military sources indicated that the criminal group ambushed by the Syrian
09:20forces is the right-armed Al-Qaeda in Syria.
09:25Concurrently, the joint Syrian-Russian air force, artillery and missile units are shelling
09:30terrorist gatherings and convoys, causing numerous casualties and destroying a large
09:35part of their equipment and war machinery.
09:59And we continue in the Middle East, as the director of the Nasser Hospital, Latif Alhoud,
10:04reported that Israeli forces again shelled the so-called safe zones of Al-Mawasi and
10:09Gaza Strip, killing at least 21 people and wounding dozens more.
10:14Palestinian and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and
10:18wounded are women and children.
10:21The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly 2 million
10:26people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced
10:30into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah, near the border with Egypt, in what
10:35has become Palestine's largest mass exodus since 1948.
10:46In this context, dozens of families in the northern Gaza Strip were displaced after the
10:51Israeli occupation army expelled them from schools that were used as improvised shelters.
10:56According to civilian reports, Israel is expanding its offensive in the north of the region,
11:01the most devastated and isolated area of the Gaza Strip, which has been completely besieged
11:07by the occupation army since the escalation of the conflict of last October, 2023.
11:14The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, stressed the urgent need to put an
11:19end to the Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip.
11:29The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees informed that families
11:33in Gaza are suffering due to a deplorable situation as a result of continued forced
11:38displacement and bombardment of their territory.
11:41On its official ex-account, the agency reaffirmed that families in Deir el-Bala and throughout
11:47the Gaza Strip continue to face dire conditions.
11:51They are constantly displaced by ongoing attacks and seek refuge in overcrowded Umrah schools
11:57and makeshift tents, where they struggle to access basic necessities.
12:02A ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access are now urgently needed to meet the
12:07growing needs.
12:17We go now to other topics.
12:18In France, Prime Minister Michel Barnier will resign from his cabinet on Thursday following
12:24the motion of censure passed by the Parliament.
12:27According to official sources, Barnier is expected to go to the Elysee Palace at 10
12:31in the morning local time to present his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron.
12:37The request was approved on Wednesday due to the Prime Minister's promotion of the bill
12:42on the Social Security Budget for 2025, avoiding the vote of deputies.
12:48Barnier's appointment as Prime Minister on September 5 sparked a series of civil protests
12:53after the French President refused to appoint Lucie Castex the candidate of the new Popular
12:58Front.
13:06And in other news, Russia and Ukraine announced on Wednesday that their respective foreign
13:10ministers will attend a meeting for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the
13:16OSCE, in Malta on Thursday, one of the few international events attended by senior officials
13:22from both countries.
13:23The foreign ministers of the 57 OSCE member states are meeting for the two days in Malta
13:31to discuss the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, and also the security situation
13:36in the Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian area.
13:39Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is traveling to Malta to attend the foreign ministers'
13:44meeting on his first trip to the European Union country since the escalation of the
13:50conflict with Ukraine in February of 2022.
13:53Meanwhile, Kyiv has also announced its participation.
14:04And the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, on Wednesday laughed out at Georgian authorities
14:10who are dispersing anti-government demonstrations and warned that his country is preparing a
14:15response with sanctions against Tbilisi.
14:18The protests in Georgia followed parliamentary elections and also the government's decision
14:23to freeze European Union joining negotiations until 2028.
14:28In this context, Zelensky stated that the current Georgian government is pushing the
14:33country into a clear dependence on Russia.
14:36He also stated that a legal response is being prepared and that he is working with European
14:41partners on concrete actions so that appropriate sanctioning decisions can be prepared.

15:37Welcome back from the South.
15:38The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and North Korea entered into
15:44force on Wednesday after the instrument of ratification of the treaty were exchanged.
15:50The treaty is a legal framework for implementing a long-range plan of cooperation.
15:55The North Korean Central News Agency stressed that it will help in the establishment of
16:00a multipolar world order free of hegemony.
16:04Moreover, the fourth article of the document states that if one of the countries is attacked,
16:09the other will immediately offer military assistance.
16:12It also provides for the deepening of cooperation in areas such as trade, economy, investment,
16:18science and technology, space, race, among others.
16:32We go now to South Korea, as the police opened an inquiry into the President Yun Sun-kyo in
16:37response to the accusations of alleged treason for declaring the martial law in the country.
16:43The investigation was initiated after two complaints against the President.
16:48One was filed by the minority opposition Rebuilding Korea Party, while the other was requested
16:53by 59 activists.
16:56The lawsuits charged not only Yun, but also the now former Defense Minister, the Army
17:02Chief of Staff, and the Interior Minister with treason and other offenses for their
17:07role in the declaration and subsequent lifting of the martial law.
17:11Likewise, 191 opposition parliamentarians presented to the National Assembly a motion
17:16to impeach the President, which could be voted on next Saturday.
17:27And in this context, after massive protests on Wednesday, a group of former South Korean
17:33Marines rallied Thursday in front of the presidential office for demanding the President's dismissal.
17:41These veterans described the fact that the government declared the martial law as unacceptable.
17:46President Yun Sun-kyo had announced the measure, accusing the opposition of sympathizing with
17:51North Korea and paralyzing the government with anti-state activities.
18:08And in other news, China introduced new sanctions against 13 U.S. companies and six senior executives
18:14for supplying and selling arms to Taiwan.
18:17On a statement, the Chinese Ministry of Internal Affairs condemned the U.S. sale of arms to
18:21Taiwan, arguing that the arms deal violates the one-China principle and goes against the
18:27Chinese sovereignty and territorial integrity.
18:30On November 30th, the U.S. Defense Ministry reportedly approved the sale to Taiwan of
18:35spare parts for F-16 fighters, electronic scanning radars, and other military equipment
18:41valued at $385 million.
18:47And in Namibia, the first woman to be elected president in the country's history, Ntumbo
19:01Nandi-Ntiwa, is of the ruling Swapo party, said on Thursday that she recognizes the significance
19:08of her election for women in the Southern African nation and vowed to address the plight
19:13of the Namibian people during her government.
19:16Comrades, fellow Namibians, as a woman, I am the first to admit that my election to
19:29hold the highest office in the land is definitely one that is breaking the glass ceiling for
19:43a Namibian woman to lead at this level.
19:49And I repeat, it's not going to be business as usual.
19:54We must have a radical shift in addressing the plight of our people, especially the downtrodden
20:05and the vulnerable communities.
20:08The time is now to address all known gray areas and challenges that we face without
20:18fear or favor.
