00:00Hello, I'm Nathan Dewday. I'm here with a Shrewsbury reporter. It is Mr. Ollie Westbury, Ollie, EFL trophy game.
00:05Not that we're going to talk about that too much tonight, I don't think, but 3-0 defeat.
00:09Look, you know, people might call it the neutral who don't know too much about these two clubs and upset, but it really wasn't, was it, with the way these two teams are performing this season?
00:17No, Shrewsbury were just awful, weren't they? I put in my full-time tweet, like, I don't have any words. I just feel completely, oddly flat about the whole situation at the moment.
00:27Six losses on the bounce, one goal scored. It's tough to watch, I mean, I feel for you.
00:34Yeah, it's just bleak. It's just absolutely bleak. I mean, that was awful, wasn't it? That second half was absolutely...
00:40First half was meh, but second half was brilliant.
00:42Second half was just, yeah, I mean, they looked like, you know, they made ten changes to the night, Walsall, and, you know, they're a League Two side, and Shrewsbury, you know, we've just spoke to Sean Parrish there, Shrewsbury 10 interim head coach, and, yeah, I felt like Ange Postacoglu just staring at the floor, but that's kind of how I feel about it right now.
01:02Yeah, it's just, I feel for the fans, I feel for the people that are paying money to watch this at the moment, because it's just not good enough, and there's just absolutely no other way of putting it. I don't think you can gloss over anything like that at the moment. It's just woeful.
01:17Yeah, and look, things need to change. Difficult interview for him to do. I thought he did as well as he could have done in the circumstances. He's hurting, he was very blunt, you know, he could have quite easily just, you know, said, well, you know, we've got to keep on battling, but no, he kind of said a few home truths, which I think this side kind of need for whoever's going to be coming in.
01:33Yeah, he was quite emotive, wasn't he? He used some quite big language there to describe it, like fuming and let down and things like that to describe the performance, but yeah, it's simply not good enough from the team, and I almost have sympathy for the person who's got to come in and try and change it around, because it just looks, I don't know, it looks like there's nowhere to go at the moment.
01:56Yeah, any update on that? Obviously, ask the questions.
01:58Yeah, you saw me asking the questions. I tried absolutely every way which possible to try and get some information out of Sean Parrish. I think the last question was, Ian, would you like to work for Goat Bank?
02:08Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:10I tried, tried.
02:12Yeah, it's poker face.
02:14Yeah, he did well, bless him. It's really not his fault that he's got to be out here answering these questions.
02:19But it does feel like we're expecting a change sooner rather than later.
02:23It feels that way, yeah, it feels that way. We reported on Monday that Gareth Ainsworth was in pole position for the Shrewsbury Town Goat job. I don't believe anything has changed. There have been rumours online suggesting that that is the case. From my understanding, I don't believe that that is the case.
02:42These things take time. We're less than 24 hours on. He was at the stadium yesterday. I can't remember what day it is.
02:49It was Tuesday today.
02:50It was Tuesday today. He was at the stadium yesterday. These things take time. It's not just a case. There's lots of things to wire out. The length of the deal, the length of the staff, relocation. It's not straightforward. You get your manager and it just happens.
03:05It takes time and Shrewsbury find themselves in a moment where, because there's so much bad news around, everybody just wants some positive news. It's not calm yet, but it takes time. It's hard to ask the fans to be patient because they are watching some truly dire football. At the same time, I can understand absolutely everyone's frustrations.
03:29Hopefully some more updates maybe the next day or so. In terms of a new manager coming in, whether that be Gareth Ainsworth or somebody else, is it a blessing in disguise that there's no game this weekend with international call-ups and the manager will come in and have the best part of a couple of weeks to work on these players?
03:48Yes, they need as much time on the train as possible, don't they? Working on different things ahead of their next game. It's Birmingham City next, isn't it? We know how good they are. It's been a really, really bad couple of days for Shrewsbury, so let's hope that there's some positive news on the horizon.
