00:00Hi, my name's Jack Marshall. I'm a digital reporter with the Lancashire Post and welcome
00:07to our latest LP Eat video. Now in this video, I'm basically just going to be giving us a
00:13bit of an introduction because I've ordered from Honest John's. I ordered it, it came,
00:18I've eaten it. I can't do a preamble, leave it up to it and go into the store because
00:22I did the classic takeaway thing of getting it delivered to our office, tried it out,
00:25I did a bunch of filming and now I'm doing a bit of a post-vid, post-pizza video to give
00:30you a bit of a review. But preamble over, Honest John's, we've tried it out and I was
00:34actually really impressed. I like this pizza. It may have impacted my scores, the fact that
00:39I was absolutely ravenous and I hadn't had any lunch that day. So as soon as it opened
00:42at 5pm, I was straight in there with my order. I was dead keen to get going. But yeah, let's
00:47start off with the dough. The dough was a 4 out of 5, really nice. Kind of like, it
00:52was kind of like a blend between the really floppy, kind of like proper authentic Italian
00:57pizzas where you can see they're really handcrafted, you can see they're really thin. And then
01:01a combination of that, where it's all the floppiness and also like the more, slightly
01:07sturdier and slightly more stodgy classic takeaway there to soak up a bit of booze kind
01:11of pizza thing, which I quite enjoyed actually. It was a nice balance between the two. So
01:15it had a bit of bite to it, it had a bit of heft to it, but it also had a bit of floppiness
01:18to it. So it wasn't like a hard, proper, thick bit of cardboard. So it was really nice.
01:22The dough impressed me. I did like how different it was and how kind of like blending the two
01:26styles it was. Coming on to the cheese and the sauce, the cheese was really nice. Very
01:31nice. Could have done with a bit more stringiness to it. I think that's the only thing I'd criticise
01:35the cheese on. There was a good amount of it. It wasn't too oily. It was, it was, it
01:40was just nice, nice mozzarella cheese. It was good. But the sauce is where this, this
01:45pizza place really stood out. It was really, really nice. You could really get it in each
01:49mouthful. The sauce stood out. It wasn't like we said on previous pizza reviews, it wasn't
01:54just there because pizza, pizzas have tomato sauce in it. It was there and it was part
01:59of the mouthful. It had a tanginess to it. It had herbs, a bit of saltiness. It had like
02:02a cut, sweet cut through a tomato as well. It was proper. That was just, that was a five
02:07out of five with the cheese being okay. Could have done with a bit more stringiness, like
02:11I say, I'm bumping it down slightly to a 4.5 out of five for the cheese and the sauce
02:15together. Now coming to the toppings. Toppings were nice. They were fine. Um, the pepperoni
02:21was good. Didn't really stand out in any particular way. Didn't really blow my mind in any way.
02:26It was fine. It was okay. That's all you can really say about it. So I've got to say it
02:32was good. There was a good amount of it. It was pepperoni. Didn't really blow my mind.
02:36I mean, in a week's time, I probably won't be able to remember it, but at the time I
02:40was like, yeah, that's good. So I'm going to give them a three out of five for that
02:43because it was inoffensive and crowd-pleasing pepperoni, which is fine. Um, onto the vibe.
02:49Now, obviously I can't do a vibe of the actual restaurant itself because I went for the takeaway
02:53option, got it delivered, but it was prompt. It was quick. It was good service. The guy
02:58rang me. He was really polite. It was really friendly. It was piping hot. It, like I say,
03:03it was prompt on time. It's five out of five, really, for if we're going to rate them on
03:06the service, we couldn't pass for any more. It was, yeah, it was great. Brilliant. Five
03:10out of five. And then finally, we're coming onto value for money. Now this pizza cost
03:16me, I believe, 10 pound 50, um, which for a pizza, this size, um, which was, I think
03:23a 14 inch piece, which is big, plenty of pizza there. I thought it was really good. So I'm
03:28going to move 4.5 out of five for value because I was satisfied. I thought the quality was
03:33good. I thought the size of the pizza was good. It was plenty there. It just, it was
03:37bang on for what I was looking for when I was hungry, you know, on a, on a, uh, a Monday
03:42evening and ganging for a bit of pizza. It was bang on. It's perfect. It was great. So
03:46I was pretty happy with that. So yeah, overall, Honest John's, which is when we put the calls
03:49arms out, asking for people for the top pizza spots, this place got a lot of shout outs.
03:54So dead pleased to have finally been able to try it. And, uh, yeah, I was very pleased
03:57with it. So let me know if you love it. Let me know if you've tried it before and it's
04:00not for you. Let me know if you've got some other places, which you really think a standout
04:04takeaway places, but I'm dead pleased with Honest John's. And they had a total score
