Lancashire Post meet the owner of Preston's best burger joint

After crowning the best burger in Preston in the latest LP Eats series, we went down to meet the man behind the city's top burger and ask him what their secret is...

00:07to present them with the award for the best burger in Preston following our LB Eats series
00:12looking for the very best burger in the city. I'm here with Wazim. Wazim, congratulations.
00:18Thank you. Welcome. So I came down to Foo. I've never heard of it before. I was really
00:26pleasantly surprised by how stylish the restaurant is, how cool the vibe is, and then the food
00:30blew me away. So let's talk a bit about what makes a good burger in your eyes.
00:34So the main thing whilst we work with Preston is to make sure we have a fresh burger. All
00:38our burgers are made fresh, they are black, I guess I would agree. There's a mention
00:42of foils, they've got a very specific pattern of the beef, they're how we do serve them.
00:46We tend to make sure that consistency is key. Somewhat, you know, the spine of the burger
00:50is the muslim way of serving a burger. And especially, probably the best Irish food you could get.
00:56It's not a difficult part of the process. There's no meat that could be elsewhere.
00:59So the main thing we've had to ensure is that consistency, and it's fresh, and it's fast,
01:04as well as it would cause it to be very appetising.
01:07I think that's something which really stood out in our fanbase. It was like, everything
01:11about it was done, like, synthetically really well. It was like, good ingredients, good
01:16quality of cooking, good, like, beef. Like you say, everything about it was a classic
01:21burger. It hit the spot on everything like fasting. So if someone in Preston is looking
01:25for a burger, and they're thinking, should I go to Boo, what do you think they'll get
01:28here that they won't get anywhere else?
01:30Well, still, like, Boo's have been quite an important, small demographic. So what we're
01:33trying to do, you see the setting here, which, obviously, we have the option of burger clapping.
01:37It's trying to make it different kind of spot. So you'll see here, it's quite, like,
01:42I'm certainly going to have a coffee. It's safe to also have a burger. So our burger
01:46is quite varied. So you can pick your freedom, really, but the Big Boo.
01:49Yes.
01:50We've also got a lot of the burgers on the A-star, Big Boo, and the Chicken Boo.
01:54Chicken Boo is our chicken, fried chicken burger, but it's a bit fresh. I think it's
01:58got a very unique spice and marinade sauce, and what happened there. I don't really eat
02:01the body of the chicken as well.
02:03Yeah.
02:03As well as that, we've got a few good side options. So the bun, the steaks.
02:07Yeah.
02:07And obviously, we do really good lunches as well. So again, all freshly prepared. So
02:11anyone can press the fries out, and you'll find that you'll have a good varied choice
02:14of burgers, and you'll also have consistency with the idea of which fries are different
02:19each time.
02:19Yeah, 100%. I think something else that stood out to me was the, again, the fries, or the
02:24Ziggy fries.
02:25The Ziggy fries.
02:25They never had anything like those before. That's a totally different new concept. I
02:29absolutely love those. So having the idea that I know...
02:31So the Ziggy fries are one of my popular, late-job popular fries. And you have the
02:34Rooster's fries as well. The Rooster's fries, again, are my personal favorite.
02:37Yeah.
02:38They're a skilled fry. The Ziggy fries are very popular. It reminds me of my childhood.
02:43Right.
02:43I think it was Ziggy Fries or Burger Fries.
02:46Yeah.
02:47But we also have a nacho cheese option, which means that people have a nacho cheese as
02:51well. So that's why the Ziggy, people enjoy it.
02:54Yeah, as well as the cheese and the Ziggy fries, it's all in there. It's a cranny as
02:57well.
02:57You say it's brilliant. Nice one.
02:58Do you have a favorite thing on the menu? You've got an incredible menu here, like
03:01I mentioned. You've got a few standard options. Anything that's your favorite?
03:04My favorite is straight away this one. If you like what I'm saying, I'll be pleased
03:09with the best. I think, of course, what we can add to the menu for a meal, if I get
03:13what you're saying, it's our chicken grouper. The chicken is very, very popular. I think
03:17our, yeah, good food used to be chicken. And there's fries as well. And we find a lot
03:21of people buy the chicken grouper quite often, especially with the orders.
