We tried out Volare's Italian sausage pizza as part of our latest Lancashire Post Eats review... Here's what we made of it

00:00Hi guys, just picked up the pizza. Here we go. Delivery secured. Let's crack on and see
00:13what Volare's is like.
00:16Hi, my name's Jack Marshall and when I left you I just picked up my pizza from Volare
00:27and I was about to dig in and try it out and so now I want to come back and offer you the
00:31scores on the doors. Now, yeah, first things first is that this is the first LP Eats review
00:36I've done without actually going to the place itself because I want to get the proper takeaway
00:40experience, you know, order it in, get it delivered, pick it up from the guy, you know,
00:44classic pizza box, that kind of thing. This is a classic kind of takeaway pizza joint
00:48so that's what I went for. Ordered the pizza, it arrived and another first thing to say
00:52is that I kind of went for the Italian sausage pizza thinking that'd be a lot more like pepperoni
00:56without thinking obviously that'd be like chunks of kind of like fennel sausage that
01:01kind of thing so didn't get the usual kind of pepperoni vibe of pizza but it was delicious
01:05nevertheless I'm going to rate it as usual. Right, vibe, we're starting with the vibe
01:09first of all. Obviously, I can't really judge the vibe of the actual place but the vibe
01:13from the people taking the order, they were really nice. The delivery guy was super cool,
01:18he kind of called me dude, he was really jovial and nice so I'm giving it a five out of five.
01:21They were just good vibes all around. There you go, you can't really improve on that really.
01:25Second, coming to the pizza itself, the dough. Now, the dough was nice. I'd say out of all
01:29the pizzas we've had so far, the dough in this one had the nicest flavour palette. It actually
01:33packed a bit of a punch. It tasted like something, it tasted like part of the meal as opposed to
01:38just the thing which the main flavour was on so that was good. As a result, I think the main,
01:43the fact that it had a flavour came from the fact that it was a little thicker than the other
01:48newer pizzas which we've had so far and as a result, it didn't have that kind of classic
01:51flop to it but never mind, I kind of enjoyed the flavour of it. That was something nice and
01:56different so I'm giving them a 3.5 out of 5 which might even be on the harsh side but yeah,
02:01I did like it. The only thing I'd say is maybe a tiny bit thinner just to give it that classic
02:06pizza feel but the taste was really good. Cheese and sauce next. I was going to say toppings but
02:12cheese and sauce next. A little underwhelmed on this one. It felt like the tomato sauce and
02:17the cheese were just there because they go on a pizza rather than because they were really there
02:22to add something to the flavour. Neither of them really did anything flavour-wise. That was it. Now,
02:27I know other flavours in the pizza like the fennel sausage and it also came with red onions and
02:32spinach. Especially the red onions and the sausage, they're quite strong flavour profiles so
02:39I mean something like a tomato sauce and a mozzarella cheese which is one of the more
02:42blander cheeses isn't necessarily going to knock your socks off but they were just non-existent.
02:46I didn't really get anything from it so I was looking for a little more on that front and also
02:50the toppings itself, like I've explained, didn't get the classic pepperoni. Kind of made a mistake
02:54there but I'm rating them a 4 out of 5 anyway because the red onions were nice and crispy,
02:59the spinach was just kind of there. I mean you don't really taste spinach in things anyway because
03:02it just kind of wilts but anyway it looked nice and the fennel sausage was really really moreish
03:08so really good marks on that front and then finally we're coming to the value for money. Now,
03:12this pizza cost me a tenner plus like a two pound delivery fee so I'm going on the ten pounds. Ten
03:17pounds for this pizza is pretty good I think, it was plenty big enough, the sausage was a really
03:21good quality. Yeah, it was nice, it left me feeling satisfied. Yeah, it was one of those
03:26pizzas where you're like solid, good pizza, wouldn't complain, would order it again, wouldn't
03:31necessarily make a note and think every Friday I'm ordering from this place 100% but it was nice,
03:36it was good. So yeah, that gives Polari an overall score of 18 out of 25 which is a very
03:42respectable score that puts them well up there in terms of you know other places. So yeah, good
03:47score from Polari. Stay tuned next week for our next review where we'll be heading to another one
