Did the "soft" comments from Mayo help motivate this team? Thoughts on Gonzalez's reaction?
Transcript
00:00So Christian Gonzalez had this to say after the chaotic week of soft gate. Yeah
00:06I mean I hit on it earlier in the week
00:08I mean he said it but I mean it wasn't that wasn't something he ain't say to us first
00:12I mean, it's not nobody took it personal. It's a challenge, you know, so I mean we came out and
00:17And did what we had to do
00:19So, you know one guy's opinion but through eight games the Patriots have identical record as they did last year two and six
00:27Both teams not good, but I think that we all reacted I put myself in there
00:32I didn't think it was wise we confronted Mayo in a very polite way about it a week ago today
00:37Yeah
00:37But maybe this is why Bill's not here because he thought he knew these guys and he was all
00:42Butthurt on their behalf and they took it and said it was a challenge
00:46yeah, the most talented guy in the defense Christian Gonzalez, who is a young guy, but
00:51Clearly becoming one of the leaders one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and
00:55He heard those comments from Gerard Mayo and took them as a challenge to improve on the field
01:00the defense did that we were all ready to say Mayo's cooked and
01:06What they did on defense against a team albeit not in a great spot
01:11But far more talented and it just brought me back to the old Belichick days where there would be these weeks
01:16Where whether it was on to Cincinnati or you name the subject is your and the team would just go out ignore the noise
01:25Perform and get a win and I think Gerard Mayo is owed some
01:30Semblance from me specifically because I was ripping him. I I thought it was a bad thing to do, but clearly it worked this way
