00:10In this video, we're unboxing the TCL 20 Pro 5G.
00:15I've featured a couple of TCL phones on this channel, but never really a full unboxing.
00:21Basically why I'm super excited.
00:22Plus the fact that I've heard a lot of good things about this phone.
00:25In this video, we'll take our first look at this phone, and then a quick camera tour with
00:29some sample shots.
00:30Let's get to it.
00:31So this is actually a pretty interesting phone box, because as you can see, the text is like
00:36this way and not that way, which it usually is on phones.
00:40We have TCL 20 Pro G on the sides.
00:43And then here we have display greatness, which is TCL's slogan.
00:48At the bottom, it tells us that I have the Moondust Grey version, and I have the 6GB
00:53256GB version.
00:55Ooh.
00:57So we have the phone right here, but let's check out what else is in this box.
01:04We have a SIM tool, quick start guide and precautions, and a jelly case.
01:09We also have the charging cord that's a USB-C, and of course, it comes with a power brick.
01:15I like this cover paper, I feel like it actually looks nice and neat.
01:18Let's look at the phone.
01:19Ooh.
01:20Yeah, okay, I dig it.
01:24I personally like how those four cameras are flush.
01:28I mean, okay, look how good that looks.
01:31So we have TCL branding at the bottom there, but also a pretty sexy glossy line that runs
01:37through the phone.
01:38We have the flash there.
01:40That is a matte design on the rest of the body, and no fingerprints.
01:45Whoa, look, did you see that?
01:49Nice.
01:53This is a pretty solid feeling phone.
01:55I love how this feels in hand, the curves on the side are pretty graceful.
02:00I feel like this is a very simple and classic look.
02:03I especially love the fact that there are no camera bumps.
02:07On this side, you have a volume rocker, a power button.
02:10At the bottom, speaker grills, you have a USB-C port, and a SIM tray.
02:14Okay, wait, look at this, it's so cute, the SIM tool is square.
02:18You have a SIM slot here, and a microSD slot here.
02:22On the other side is another button, and at the top, audio port, and I think this is
02:28an IR blaster.
02:29I mean, worth it to note that it's not just the back that's curved, it's also the screen,
02:35as you can see there, and that's probably why this has such a nice in-hand feel.
02:39Anyway, let's power it up, and in the meantime, a montage.
02:52Here we go, camera tour time.
03:09I have been using this phone for a hot second, and it's a pleasure to look at, and use, and
03:15hold.
03:16I really like how this phone is built.
03:18Onto the camera, we have, of course, auto settings.
03:21We have 1x, we have 2x, and then you can do up until 10x, that's actually the camera
03:29behind me shooting.
03:31And then you can also do a wide.
03:34Up here, I think that's AI going on, because as you can see, it detects that I'm a person,
03:38and it's focusing on my face.
03:40You have settings over here.
03:43What?
03:44Where is calorie detection on here?
03:46It says here that you can estimate calorie from food detection?
03:49Okay, that's something that I have to try out.
03:52And then there's smart guideline, provide the best frame guides for portrait shots.
03:57Again, stuff that I really want to try out later on, so let me know if you guys want
04:02to see a camera vlog test, because that's where I'd potentially test this out.
04:05We have size settings over here.
04:08What's this?
04:09Ooh, that's full view.
04:11You have HDR settings, so let's do automatic.
04:15You have a timer, and then flash settings.
04:18And finally, we have different filters.
04:21On the right, we have video, so as you can see, you have 1x, 2x, and then up until 10x
04:29as well.
04:30Can we do wide?
04:31Yeah!
04:32So that is apparently the button for wide.
04:35And then up here, you have different settings, so video quality, you can shoot up until 4K,
04:41you have EIS turned on, and then you have different filters.
04:46Okay, if I switch back to 1x, there are way more stuff up here.
04:51So we have settings again, you have HDR settings, so I just turned it on.
04:57You have super anti-shake.
04:58Now as you can see, it is a little blurry because historically, these anti-shake modes,
05:02these steady modes, need more light.
05:04We also have different filters on here.
05:07And then up here, you have motion tracking, so if you saw right there, it's blurring out.
05:13It's because it's trying to catch the area where motion is happening.
05:17So yeah, you can track stuff with this feature.
05:21Okay, pretty interesting, if I tap here, you get even more features.
05:26So you have a video bokeh, and you can switch settings from 0 to like 99, 99 being like
05:34more blurred actually.
05:36Can we do wide on video bokeh?
05:37No, you cannot, but you can do up until 10x.
05:41And then to the right, we have the portrait mode, and as you can see, we can blur that.
05:46So you can do an aperture 1 up until 16.
05:51You have settings up top, and then you also have a timer.
05:54On the right side of that, you have super night mode, and what that does is it sort
05:59of like takes a longer exposure for not the best lit scenarios.
06:05You have settings, size, and also timer up top.
06:08You also have a pro mode, and you can do 1x, 2x, up until 10x on pro mode, is there
06:15a wide?
06:16No, it doesn't seem to let me switch to wide from this mode though.
06:22That is a pro photo mode.
06:24Now let's move on to the other side.
06:27So we were at auto, and more is on the left side actually.
06:30So first off, you have a pano mode.
06:32You have a stop motion mode.
06:34Now this is new, how does this work?
06:37Oh, so it takes a couple of photos on timer.
06:41Wait, stop, oh there we go, it took a couple of photos.
06:45There is also a light trace mode, so really cool feature for people who like shooting
06:51in the dark.
06:53You know what I mean, you can capture movement, so it's basically a slower shutter speed,
06:58and there are different examples of what you can do here.
07:01You have a super macro mode, a high pixel mode, so I'm assuming that shooting with the
07:0648 megapixel mode.
07:08Again, cameras today have high megapixel counts, but they don't really use up all those megapixels,
07:12they shoot smaller but better photos using pixel binning, but if you wanna shoot 48 megapixel
07:17photos, you can do so via this mode.
07:20And then you have a slow-mo mode, 4x, 8x, and then you can zoom up until 4x.
07:28Can you do wide?
07:29No, not really.
07:31And finally, a short video mode.
07:33Ooh, this is interesting, so there are video templates up here, uplifting, wait, what happens
07:41if I shoot?
07:44Pause, and then I can add a transition, oh and I like, I can move the camera.
07:50Okay, this is pretty cool, because this, what this does in effect, allows you to pause recording
07:55and then continue on to shoot, so it's sort of like TikTok, where you can pause while
08:01shooting and then move on to the next frame.
08:04Again, perfect for social media, this is a feature I'd love to explore on a camera test.
08:10Check what that does.
08:11So it's that first scene, and then, see, see, I didn't do anything, I just shot it, and
08:16it did that by itself.
08:18So yeah, on this mode, there are a number of different templates, which is cool.
08:25You can also do wide on here, up until 10x.
08:30I'm so excited to test out this short video mode.
08:34It works like any other social media mode, from here you can share straight to your apps.
08:40So again, this is Android's way of going around the whole optimization thing, you know how
08:45Android phones they say aren't optimized for social media.
08:49What they do is they have these short video modes, add more features to it, and then from
08:52the camera app itself, you can share.
08:55Pretty cool.
08:56And then you can do up until 60 second clips, and well, you can do selfies too.
09:02Speaking of selfies, let's move on to the other features and check out selfie functions
09:07of this phone.
09:08So this is auto right now, and we're seeing a beauty mode.
09:11Ooh, you see my face, like sort of blur.
09:16And this, it seems, is like a little whitening, although that's not something I feel anyone
09:22needs.
09:23Again, the beauty mode is cool, it's fun, use it to enhance how you look, use it just
09:28like makeup to be more confident, and like show off your own features, but never allow
09:34it to make you insecure of the real you, flaws and imperfections are okay.
09:39And then up here we have settings, of course.
09:42And then up here we have settings, size settings, HDR settings, timer, flash, and also the different
09:49filters.
09:51Ha!
09:52Can we zoom in or out?
09:53No, you cannot.
09:54And then you are shooting up until, wait, 4K?
10:00You can shoot 4K selfie video, that's pretty cool.
10:04And then you have selfie portrait, I don't see the beauty mode anywhere here, or a toggle
10:10for the blur in the background, but maybe I have to explore more.
10:15You have a timer, and then you have settings up here.
10:18And then finally, super night mode, wait, there's no selfie super night mode, and on
10:23pro mode, I don't think there is a selfie mode either.
10:27Anyway, that was it for our quick camera tour, now time for some sample shots.

10:46Looking at that screen, I really am impressed, and it's looking like TCL is ramping up its
10:51smartphone game.
