00:15The Z Flip 5, I'm really excited to do this video with a clamshell foldy because one,
00:20I'm completely sold on this form factor and secondly, I really feel like that form factor
00:25really, really adds to the experience of shooting with this device.
00:29And in this video, we're going to be testing this phone out to see just how it performs
00:33on social media.
00:34So we're looking at Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter.
00:36We're going to try out selfies, we're going to try out walking and talking, things that
00:40you'd normally do on social media and see how the Z Flip 5 performs.
00:45Right?
00:46Let's get to it.
00:48So for the first part of this video, we're going to be shooting with a Z Flip 5 and we're
00:51going to be looking at what stories look via an iPhone and an Android phone.
00:58Now the thing with the Z Flip 5 is that you can shoot many different ways.
01:02First off, with the internal selfie camera and then of course, we can shoot with a cover screen.
01:14Shooting with the IG app via the Samsung Z Flip 5.
01:20Now that we have that covered, let's see how the stories look via different phones.
01:28So I have the Oppo Reno 10 Pro Plus and I have the iPhone 13 Plus.

02:12Now it's pretty interesting and what I've been wanting to see is if this Z Flip 5, just
02:17like the Moto Razr Plus, can shoot in-app Instagram stories via the cover screen.
02:24You can, it's just not as simple as one would think.
02:29Now I'm busting out another Z Flip 5 because let me show you something.
02:33The cover screen on the Z Flip 5, if you don't really add anything to it, when you set it
02:40up, after you get it, will look like this and it will allow you to have apps on the
02:45cover screen except as you can see, that's not a whole lot of apps.
02:48That's not all the apps.
02:50Unlike the Moto Razr which presents you with the option to use the cover screen directly
02:55as you would use like the inner fold screen, the Samsung Z Flip 5 doesn't give you that
03:01option.
03:02Well, not immediately.
03:04On this other flip, I have set it up and it entails having to install another Samsung
03:11created toolkit that can only be found in the Samsung Galaxy Store but then it'll allow
03:17you to get more and any apps that you'd like on the cover screen which means I can now
03:23watch YouTube on my cover screen but most important for our purposes, you can now shoot
03:30with a cover screen.
03:31Let's see how that looks.
03:33That button's a little weird but I'll take what I can get.

03:56Now, this part might be a little bit of interesting.
04:01Now, I have a QWERTY keyboard on this cover screen for writing text on my story.

04:25And now, you can actually watch your story through the cover screen.

04:37It is pretty cool that you can shoot Instagram stories with your cover screen.
04:41However, I will note that, again, you had to install a separate toolkit, the Good Lock
04:48toolkit.
04:49And it's not as simple as one would think.
04:51I mean, I cover tech but even I had to figure out how to do it and it wasn't the most straightforward
04:57process.
04:58I will link the instructions down below for anyone of you who'd like to do the same thing
05:02to your Z Flip 5.
05:04That being said though, once you get through that initial setup, you're all good.
05:07No need to tweak things around.
05:09I will say though that the Instagram interface, that needs a little help.
05:13I did notice that the quality when shooting with a cover screen via Good Lock, as you
05:19can see here.

05:36But yes, hoping that this gets optimized soon enough.
05:40Despite that whole journey to install this toolkit though, I'm still pretty sold.
05:44I mean, it's not every day that you will have this form factor for Instagram stories.
05:49It's pretty cool.
05:50It's such a great thing to use for when you're out and about, wanting to shoot yourself or
05:53when you're traveling.
05:54And speaking of traveling, before we move on to the next part, a quick word from this

06:44And you also get that perfect seal on your ears.
06:47With noise cancellation on, you really can't hear anything.
06:51What?
06:52Especially useful when you're in a noisy place.
06:55Like for example, on a commute, or a coffee shop, or on an airplane.
06:59Which is perfect because, again, I'm taking these on my trip.
07:02Then there are also other features I love, like the transparency mode, which means you'll
07:06hear stuff around you, even with the headphones on.
07:09Or the easy chat mode, which will allow you to hear people when they talk to you, you
07:13don't have to take off the headphones.
07:14Then there's also wearing detection, and dual Bluetooth.
07:17Perfect for people like me because I switch out phones a lot.
07:21Plus, if you're the type of girly who likes being tethered, you can also plug in using
07:26a cord that it comes with, and it's also cute in blue.
07:29All in all, what I'd look for in headphones that I'ma travel with?
07:32Sound quality, ANC, versatility, and even good looks.

10:33So to recap this phone with, the phone's rear cameras can do wide 1x up until 10x.
10:43On video, it can do wide 1x up until 10x as well.
10:49Let's see how the zooms will be on social media.
10:52First up, we have Instagram.

11:09So I'm not entirely sure just how zoomed in this is.
11:14And it's pretty responsive when it comes to the zooming in or out.

11:23On Snapchat this time around, let's see how do I flip it.

11:35So let's try 0.5x up.

11:52Zooming in or out, it's pretty smooth as well.

12:14I do feel like a slight drag on TikTok.
12:18I mean, it's still pretty smooth.

12:27Now, usually I'll test out portrait modes and how that will look shot by the app.
12:33But based on previous social media test, there's only really ever one app that allows for that
12:39and that's Snapchat.
12:40Because on Snapchat, you get a low light mode, a focus mode which is basically what I'm talking about.
12:45You can do portrait mode on this app.
12:48On Instagram and TikTok, you don't get those functionalities.
12:52And any blurred out background filter you have is really just that, a filter.
12:57So let's show you what a focus mode looks like.
13:01And this, friends, is what focus mode looks like on Snapchat.
13:04As you can see, my background, so messy as it is, is now blurred.
13:09And this is a feature on Snapchat.
13:14The next part of this video is gonna be on OIS.
13:18The Z Flip 5 should have improved OIS and it also has a super steady mode.
13:24Let's check out how that looks shot on the actual camera app and on the different apps we're testing out.

14:34Please don't judge the mess that is my life right now.
14:37On a normal day, I would actually go out and shoot this whole social media test so that we have a change of scenery.
14:43But I'm not kidding when I said that I'm headed out for a trip.
14:46I'm flying out tomorrow so excuse the mess.
14:51And now, let's move on to low light.
14:54As you can see, you guys, I am in a dark room and the only light source is that Nanoleaf panel.
15:02So it's not necessarily the brightest place.
15:06Let's take a sample.
15:09Wide.
15:13And let's zoom in like two times.
15:23Now, there is a night mode on here but that's designed for like even darker scenarios.
15:28Let's turn off the lights.
15:29And like it's pitch black but we're gonna take some night mode samples.
15:33This is the night mode.
15:35And that is how good night mode processing is on this phone.
15:41Let's see if that's something that can be replicated when shot via the social media app.
15:47Instagram first, of course.
15:51I mean, are we surprised?
15:53Snapchat, you can't really just take photos so...
15:58However, Snapchat does give you the option for a low light mode.
16:03And once that's turned on, it does save photos only.
16:06Let's see how that looks.
16:09Oh my gosh, that's pretty cool.
16:11That is very impressive.
16:13And then on TikTok, there is a flash but no low light mode.
16:18Let's see.
16:21Yeah, I finally turned the lights back on.
16:23At the end of the day, it really is Snapchat because of its low light mode that won the low light challenge here.
16:31And that was our Galaxy Z Flip 5 social media test.
