00:00Samsung claims that their new phones are optimized for social media.
00:03I have the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and we're checking out if that's true in this video.
00:09🎵
00:17Good day, you beautiful people. Welcome to Issa Does Tech, where we do tech in your life, in style.
00:22In my last video on the S22 Ultra, you guys, a lot of you asked if I could test it on social media.
00:28In this video, we're doing just that. We're checking out how your posts will look on Instagram, TikTok,
00:32and Snapchat, if Samsung's social media claims hold true, and well, just other fun camera features
00:37in general. Let's start. So for the first part of this video, we're looking at how your stories
00:42would look through other phones. So I have the iPhone 13 Pro, the Google Pixel 6 Pro, and even
00:48the S22, and we're going to be posting via our camera app and our Instagram app to see how that
00:54looks. Right, here we go. For context, this is the S22 Ultra, iPhone 13 Pro, Google Pixel 6 Pro,
01:02and the S22. This is how the story looks like. So shot on the app, and then this is what the
01:09photo looks like shot from the camera app and then posted to Instagram. On the iPhone,
01:17this is what that looks like.
01:19Google Pixel 6 Pro, let's see.
01:25And then on the S22,
01:32and just another sample story, this is what your Instagram story will look like shot on the IG app.
01:41Hey!
01:42And just another sample story, this is what your Instagram story will look like shot on the IG app.
01:56And just another sample story, this is what your Instagram story will look like shot on the IG app.
02:05So far, stories look good across all phones, nothing significantly cut off,
02:10and video also looks okay without lag on any audio on all phones.
02:18Like I explained in my previous S22 Ultra video, this phone has two telephoto cameras,
02:24one with 10x optical zoom and 100x phase zoom, and one with 3x optical zoom. And on video,
02:31it can zoom up until 20x. So as you can imagine, that's a lot of zooms.
02:37I wanted to see if that translates to social media.
02:41Okay, zoom sample using the camera of... Okay, zoom sample using the camera. This is 1x wide, 1x, 3x,
02:5310x, and this will zoom up until 20x. Back to 1x.
03:08On Snapchat, it did say 0.6x at the bottom here, and it can zoom up until... Whoa, that's...
03:15Whoa, that's a crazy zoom. Look at that. And then back out. That's wider, and like,
03:25that's a crazy zoom in. Wait, there we go. Let's zoom out slower this time.
03:35And now we're on TikTok, and this is 1x. Zoom up until... I don't know, it doesn't show you
03:44what x this is, but this is as far as it'll go, and then as wide as it'll go.
03:53Instagram stories this time. This is the widest it'll go, and this can zoom up until here.
04:05Zooming out.
04:07Now, what's actually crazy to me here is that the Snapchat camera is zooming
04:14in more than the actual Samsung S22 Ultra camera app. Like, look at this.
04:23TikTok and IG zoom pretty much the same amount, though there's still more zoom on the in-camera
04:28app. A combination of optical image stabilization and video digital image stabilization makes for
04:36very smooth footage on the S22 Ultra, at least with the rear cameras. And because we all like
04:42to walk and talk, we're testing this out as well. So this phone supposedly has better stabilization,
04:49and we're gonna check that out on social media. So this is a sample of me walking and talking
04:54using the front-facing camera. This is what it looks like walking and talking using the rear
05:00cameras. Snapchat is up first. This is me walking and talking and flipping it.
05:11Flipping it. Wait. There. Walking and talking. Instagram stories. Me walking and talking.
05:24And this is what walking and talking looks like on this app.
05:30TikTok now. Walking and talking on the app and flipping it.
05:40This is what it looks like. I get that I didn't walk the same area, so to test it further,
05:48we're walking up and down the stairs using the camera app and then all the social media apps.
05:55Said stairs. For science, let's do this. Yeah, I'm tired now. That's a lot of going up and down
06:05the same set of stairs. All for the social media test, you guys. Let's look at all of them together.
06:13In this department, footage shot on the native camera app of the S22 Ultra really shines through.
06:19I mean, I'm sure there's some kind of stabilization happening in the other samples,
06:24but the footage shot on the camera app just looks so good. If only for the fact that I find that we
06:31do a lot of Instagram stories in the dark, I would have tested this out. But fortunately,
06:36there are also stuff on the S22 Ultra that supposedly makes low-light video shooting
06:44better. It was a whole thing at the launch. This being shot with the camera app, this is
06:49selfie video. And this is Joshua, and he will be our subject for these tests right now,
06:56because he has no choice right now. Low-light video on Snapchat, and then this is the rear.
07:14Low-light video, IG app, and rear camera.
07:36Last but not the least, this is TikTok in low light.
07:40And this is the low-light rear camera.
07:50So right now, we're on portrait mode being shot on the camera app of the S22 Ultra. Now,
07:55as you can see, everything behind me is blurred, and we're gonna try and see
07:59if this is something we can do on any of those social media apps. Now, the S22 Ultra has what
08:04Samsung calls AI Depth Map, which should make everything look better, and the blur even better,
08:11the cutouts even better. So let's see. Okay, so first off, Snapchat does specifically have
08:15a focus feature that's basically in portrait mode. So look at the leaf behind me carefully.
08:22Let me turn that on, and it does blur out. And look at how my hair looks.
08:28This is the focus mode or the bokeh in the Snapchat app. So let's see how that looks.
08:37That looks pretty good, actually. Look at my hair. This is focus mode with the rear camera.
08:42It looks good. This is being shot in the Snapchat app. Now, TikTok and Instagram,
08:49they don't really have a similar like portrait mode. And what you can do actually is shoot
08:54portrait video using the in-camera app, and then from here, you can share that straight to your app.
09:02So as you can see, it has Instagram on here, and I can share straight to, let's say, my stories,
09:09and it pops up on your Instagram. This same thing works for TikTok. But yeah, via the app,
09:16like for example, we're shooting on TikTok right now, you don't have a portrait mode or a bokeh
09:22video mode, and this is what natural bokeh looks like. Natural bokeh looks like on Instagram stories
09:30being shot on the S22 Ultra. So we all know that the S Pen remote features is a great tool
09:37for using your camera remotely, taking remote selfies, or even
09:45shooting remote video. But do these features translate to social media? We're gonna test it out.
09:50First up, we'll try on Snapchat. So let's see what the app does.
09:56Takes a photo. Let's see, hands-free.
10:02Yes, so it can also shoot your videos on hands-free mode. How about other gestures? Let's see.
10:09Okay, seems like there are no air action set up. How about swiping up? Okay. Other than taking
10:19photos and or videos with one press of the button, how about a double tap?
10:27Okay, no. On TikTok, let's see. Okay, it does audio.
10:40Okay, app doesn't support swipe up or swipe down. How about swipe to the right?
10:45Okay, so I guess no gestures on TikTok, and neither can it take remote photos
10:52or video. Instagram, let's see. So let's go to stories.
11:00No swipe right or left. No swipe up or down. How about...
11:05Oh, it can take photos. Yes, so it can also shoot your videos on hands-free mode. Stop.
11:19There we go. So unfortunately, it's TikTok that definitely can't do selfie or
11:27remote video recording, which is a shame because I feel like this would be so handy in the TikTok
11:34app if it supported the gestures or at least like the remote selfie or remote video recording.
11:42There are a lot of built-in editing features on this phone, which can be very useful for
11:46social media. And if you follow me on Instagram, you've probably already seen me use one of them.
11:51I took out my maskne and maskne scars using the built-in beauty editing tools of this phone,
11:59and it was so easy. It was such a quick fix. No need to download the photos onto a laptop,
12:05and I was ready to post. You can see the difference here.
12:15Other than that, there are a lot of different editing features on here. So there's like
12:20auto-adjust. So you can crop, you can change the different filters on your photos,
12:29you can change all these different settings, you can also draw on it. Perfect, since you have an
12:36S Pen. But all the ones I really like to use are here. So first off, you have face effects. So this
12:45is basically a very detailed beauty mode. Now, like I always say, you use the beauty mode to
12:50enhance how you look, just like how you'd use makeup to enhance the real you and not change
12:54altogether what your face is. Anyway, here we have the blemish tool. You can also change the
13:01background blur. Of course, it's not going to be as good as if you shot a portrait photo.
13:07And if you did shoot a portrait photo, you can adjust the blur after taking the photo. But yeah,
13:13this isn't a portrait photo, and you can sort of still switch that around a little bit. You have
13:19a red eye fix. And then you also have object eraser, which allows you to sort of edit stuff
13:25out of your photo. Now, it's not going to be perfect, and some object eraser photos look
13:34better than others, but you get the idea. Also have spot color, which basically allows you to
13:42color in certain parts of the photo. You also have color mix, which allows you to sort of change
13:50around the hues, luminance, saturation of each specific color in the photo. And then you also
13:58have shadow eraser, reflection eraser. I was pretty curious about reflection eraser, and I tried to do
14:05that. So as you can see here, I took a photo of Joshua, but this is through a window, so there are
14:10reflections. If I do object eraser, erased reflections, and it did become a little clearer.
14:22So look at the difference. Again, it's not perfect because I'm seeing that like they took out this,
14:28but they also took out the lamp over there. But yeah, you guys get the idea.
14:35And that folks was our social media test with the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Hopefully this video was
14:41able to answer your questions about this phone and how it fares in terms of social media. Let me know
14:46what you think in the comment section down below. Let me know if you think that Samsung really did
14:50optimize their cameras for social media use. I will say that based on all the Samsung that we took,
14:55Snapchat did the best out of all of the apps. Unfortunately, that's also the app that I use least.
15:01Definitely waiting on Samsung to further optimize their cameras for TikTok and Instagram. Although I
15:07will say that it's really nice that Samsung is already looking at making their phone and camera
15:13experience better for social media. In my years of testing out and trying out different phones,
15:19that has always been one of the biggest concerns of Android users. If their phone will work well
15:25with whatever social media they're using. I also have the S22, so I will be doing videos on this
15:30phone soon. Let me know what you'd want to see and if you want to see a social media test with
15:34this phone too. Or if you'd want to see me do a camera vlog test with the S22 Ultra, again,
15:39comment down below. That's it for today. If you want to see how I use my tech on a daily basis,
15:43find me online at IsaDesk underscore on Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. Until next time!
