00:00What's up guys, today I wanted to talk about the Mi 12T.
00:03This is a pretty good flagship phone here that I absolutely love.
00:08It sparked my interest because I did get the Android 13 MIUI 14 update.
00:15So that's really sweet and definitely really made the phone super smooth animation wise.
00:21And I always keep a Xiaomi phone on me and I say this all the time every time I look at these
00:27phones. For the IR blaster, you can control your TV, appliances, all types of stuff with the IR
00:34blaster. So it's like a one-stop shop or like a universal remote basically. And it just makes
00:39everything so much easier. Yeah, so absolutely love this phone. Let's go ahead and check it out.
00:43You can find this on Amazon for around 400 bucks. I'll put the link down below, but it's a pretty
00:49sweet phone, especially if you guys are really interested in the IR blaster. Not only that,
00:53but this phone, it does come with a crazy, crazy charger. You do have 120 watt charging speed on
01:01here. This thing charges to like 100% in 19 minutes as well too. So that's also something
01:06really cool. And these days with these flagship phones, you know, Apple, Google, Samsung, you don't
01:14get the charger in the box, but Xiaomi puts the chargers in the box and I think that's really
01:19great. Yeah, I just absolutely love that. Let's talk about the chip set on this phone. So we do
01:25have the Dimensity 8100 Ultra chip on here and this chip has been really smooth. So it's pretty
01:32much on par with like a S21 Ultra or Snapdragon AAA processor. I'll show you guys the Geekbench
01:38scores, but it's pretty much on par with that. And everything has been extremely smooth on this
01:43phone. Animations, especially with MIUI. MIUI is super animation heavy, so it's been really fluid
01:51with that. And the chip set has been really good. I've been really impressed with this chip set,
01:56especially for this price point. Like I said, it's $400. It's new, not used or refurbished,
02:00which I think is pretty cool. So you get a really strong chip in here. You also get on this guy 128
02:07gigs of internal storage and then you also get eight gigs of RAM. So like I said, the overall
02:12experience has been really fast and fluid, whether you're gaming or whether you're doing
02:17heavy multitasking, bouncing in and out of applications. It's actually been a very smooth
02:21phone since the day that I got it. And just to show you guys, so you can see 916 and you can see
02:27it's on equivalent with the Poco F3 S21 Ultra. It's equivalent with phones like that. So you can
02:33see there. So it's still a very fast phone. You guys know that I always, you know, preach older
02:39flagships. So it's pretty much on par with like an older flagship. Also, let's go ahead and touch
02:45on the MIUI software. This is a big thing for a lot of people. A lot of people don't like the
02:49MIUI software. I think it's definitely been improved on a lot. You guys got to remember
02:54for them to get these prices, cause Xiaomi has a lot of like really good mid range and flagship
03:01phones for, you know, pretty good prices. I noticed, but a lot of that comes with the price
03:06of advertisements. So you'll see like a lot of ads and stuff. Well, not a lot, not to the point
03:13where it's like it ruins the experience, but yeah, it does not feel as premium as compared to like a
03:18Pixel or Galaxy, especially you get like a lot of applications that you didn't install and stuff
03:24like that. So little stuff like that where, you know, that's where they have to cut the cost and
03:28sort of, you know, you have to make these phones cheaper that way. At least that's what I think.
03:35But as far as the MIUI software, it's very, very smooth. It kind of reminds me of iOS a little bit,
03:40especially the drop down menu here. It basically looks like an iPhone kind of. And yeah, I do like
03:47the software. I think it's really smooth and bouncy. I don't like the app drawer actually,
03:53not as much. Like I get it, like you want to organize stuff, but I don't know. I just don't,
03:58sometimes I feel like I get lost in the app drawer thing. So trying to find stuff,
04:03but yeah, other than that, you know, it's a very smooth phone for sure. Like I haven't had any
04:10issues performance wise with MIUI. One thing that I really like about this phone is how they do
04:15the multitasking windows and you just get to be able to see more stuff. And then also the floating
04:22windows is pretty cool as well too. It's basically, you know, what you would find in one UI.
04:28Um, so I think MIUI is not bad at all. I think, um, the software has come a long way. It's
04:34extremely smooth. Um, so that's something that I really like and it's definitely being refined
04:40all the time. So I think MIUI is fine. Now the 12T has a pretty good display. It's a 6.67 inch
04:46display. It's an AMOLED 120 Hertz display at HDR 10 plus. It gets up to 900 nits peak brightness
04:53as well too. It's 446 for the PPI. So it's a very nice display. It gets fairly bright in direct
04:59sunlight and it's a completely flat panel as well too. So no issues there in terms of, you know,
05:05applying screen protectors and stuff like that. And yeah, so it's a really good display and also
05:10it's a 2K display for the resolution. So you can watch content in 1440p and it looks really good.
05:16So overall I have no issues with the display on here. I think it's, you know, it looks pretty
05:20good. Um, like I said, no real issues. The bezels on here are also a pretty good size as well too,
05:27as you guys can see. So overall the display is pretty good. This phone also has stereo speakers
05:32as well.
05:50You can actually feel the phone vibrate a little bit. So it is pretty loud speakers. Uh, so I really like that about this phone.
06:04Uh, definitely if you hold the, or if you cover up the bottom speaker, you still get a pretty good
06:09sound out of the top speaker as well too. Also the vibrations on this phone are pretty solid as well
06:14too. You also have a under the display fingerprint sensor, which is very fast. No, no issues with
06:19that. You can also take advantage of the face unlock too on this guy too. All right, so the star
06:24of the show is the infrared guys. Um, you could use the Mi Remote or sometimes I just like to use
06:32the Samsung application since I have a lot of Samsung TVs and it'll go ahead and you can, you
06:37can see, you can do a set-top box, fan, AC, smart box, projector, camera, um, receiver. So you can, you can
06:45see how this would be extremely useful instead of using a whole bunch of different remotes. You just
06:50have one remote, you know, basically, I think that's really cool to be able to be able to have
06:55that. So, you know, more companies I think should add the IR blaster. A lot of them don't, I can't
07:01remember. Um, I think maybe Samsung maybe used to have one a long time ago, but I'm not sure that's
07:07how long it's been. Um, but yeah, absolutely love the IR blaster. Uh, definitely makes life very,
07:14very easy. All right. So the cameras on the 12T are pretty decent. It's got 108 megapixel standard
07:20and eight megapixel ultra wide and a two megapixel macro. It shoots in 4k 30 and a 20 megapixel
07:27selfie cam that shoots in 1080 60. So you can see not the most impressive specs, uh, besides the 108
07:34megapixel lens. Um, there's some stuff that, you know, I would have liked to see, like maybe at
07:38least a 1440p for a front facing video or, you know, you know, 4k, um, this phone, it doesn't do 4k
07:4660. Uh, so you can see they sort of, you know, had to cut corners here in this area. So you can only
07:52do like 4k 30. Um, but as far as the pictures, just straight up, just taking stills, it takes
07:58really good shots. So you can see from the photos here, it takes some pretty good photos. I would
08:04say put this on par with like, uh, maybe like a mid ranger, like a upper mid ranger. Um, you know,
08:12sort of like a galaxy, maybe a 54 or something like that. It's somewhat on par with that. Um,
08:18but the photos, if you're in outdoor lighting, they look absolutely great. No issues there.
08:24Uh, but if you take it out of any type of good lighting scenario, um, it still does a good job,
08:29but you definitely can tell like, oh, this is not a, you know, this is not like a flagship
08:34phone, right. They, they cut corners a little bit here. Um, but yeah, so overall the pictures are
08:40pretty good. The video is solid. Like I said, um, no real issues again for this $400 price point.
08:46Um, if you want the best camera, uh, at this price point, you would probably go with a pixel anyway,
08:51cause it's going to give you the best camera. So I would go with a pixel seven, eight or something
08:54like that, but I think the camera is fine for the average person who just wants to snap and take a
08:59photo. Decent portrait mode, decent. You get two times zoom on here, which is decent. Um, so yeah,
09:06so, you know, again, not the most impressive camera. It does a decent job. Um, but for a
09:12point and click, I think it'll do, uh, you know, a good job. Now the battery situation is where
09:17this phone shines. So there is a trade-off. This phone does not have any type of wireless charging,
09:22but it's got a pretty big battery at 5,000 milliamps. The battery lasts all day for me.
09:26So you definitely get well over six hours of screen on time with this phone. But like I said,
09:31the cool thing with this phone is that you get the 120 watt charger, which is absolutely crazy. So
09:39even though it doesn't have wireless charging, you plug this in for like five minutes, let's say
09:43you got to go somewhere, you plug it in for like five minutes, 10 minutes, and you get like 50%
09:49battery back. It's like crazy. Um, so absolutely love that. And like I said, it comes in the box.
09:55You don't have to buy it separately, which I think you got to give it points for that. Um, so yeah.
09:59So what do you guys think about the 12T? I think it's pretty cool. So you get really fast charging
10:04speeds. You get the IR blaster. Um, I think MIUI software is fine. Like I said, it might not be
10:09everyone's favorite, you know, skin, but I think it's decent. Um, and I think the hardware on here,
10:15so the hardware on here, it's okay. This is an okay looking phone. I'm not crazy about this color.
10:22Um, but as you can see, it looks fine. I really like the camera module on here as well too. Um,
10:28but the hardware on here is fine. It's not anything too crazy. Um, but let me know what
10:34you guys think and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
