00:00What's up guys today I wanted to update my compact smartphone list and I wanted to update it with the
00:05Zenfone 9 because I've been eyeballing this phone and it's pretty much like a spiritual successor to
00:12the S10e and just the videos that I've been seeing on it I've been really impressed with it. Now you
00:18can go ahead and buy these for like 750 bucks so I am like I said getting one very soon. It is kind
00:24of expensive though for sure and I think that's for 128 gig but yeah so let's go ahead and dive
00:31into this phone just to let you guys know about it if you're interested. So it's got a technically a
00:36plastic back but it's got an aluminum frame on here it's ip68 dust and water resistant so from
00:43what I've seen the hardware looks really good and it has a 5.9 inch super amoled display it's 120
00:49hertz hdr 10 plus it's 1080p 445 for the ppi and I just really like that screen size it's a very
00:57comfortable screen size so if you're into compact phones this is going to be a phone that you could
01:01one hand very easily it's got android 12 zen ui which is basically you know kind of like stock
01:08android it does have the snapdragon 8 plus gen 1 chip on here adreno 730 so this is a flagship
01:16chipset it will get you to be able to play games at max settings it's going to be super fast this
01:22phone does not have any sd card support there is 128 gig and a 256 gig and then you have 8 gigs of
01:30ram for both of those and there is a 16 gigabyte ram option as well too it does have stereo speakers
01:36a headphone jack is on here which is super surprising I was not expecting a headphone jack
01:42to be on this phone especially for a new phone that to come out in 2022 it's got nfc the
01:47fingerprint scanner they kept it we I have the asus zenfone 8 as well too which I really liked
01:53as well the fingerprint scanner is the same side mounted it's physical awesome it's also got from
01:59what I've seen a very you know updated camera system 50 megapixel standard and a 12 megapixel
02:05ultrawide she's an 8k 24 with a 12 megapixel standard that shoots in 4k 30 from what I've
02:12seen it's taken some excellent shots then also this was what I was really excited about so
02:17from what I'm seeing and this is something I'm going to have to test but from what everyone's
02:21saying it's got excellent battery life which is shocking for an android phone this size 4300
02:28milliamp battery 30 watt charging no wireless charging though which is kind of strange
02:33um but yeah this this phone I've been hearing like people are getting seven seven hours eight
02:39hours of screen on time that is amazing so especially for the size of this phone so they
02:44did increase the battery size from last year um but I'm very excited to get my hands on this uh
02:49phone some s10e or the galaxy s10e uh probably the best bet for most people this is one of my
02:55favorite phones of this year it has a glass back aluminum frame ip68 dust and water resistant
03:01a great build quality and like I said very comfortable in the hand you can easily use this
03:06phone uh one hand is one thing that I really love about it so it has a 5.8 inch dynamic amoled display
03:13hdr 10 plus I've heard from several people even in my comments say that this is the perfect size
03:18it's not too big and it's not too small uh so you know for watching videos playing games it's not
03:24going to be super tiny but it's also not going to be too big for you it is 1080p 438 for the ppi
03:30overall a very nice colorful display pretty sharp as well it does have android 11 it will get the
03:36android 12 update the snapdragon 855 and adreno 640 is on board pretty much still a flagship
03:42chipset you can play pretty much any game you throw at it I do have a gaming test be sure to
03:47check that out uh call of duty pubg fortnite it plays fantastic so just an awesome device for
03:54gaming you have micro sd support along with 128 gigs of internal storage and 6 gigs of ram
04:00you also have stereo speakers on here which sound amazing very crisp and clear great bass
04:05in addition to that you actually do have a headphone jack on here which is really awesome
04:10this phone also has a ton of bells and whistles nfc like I said ip68 physical fingerprint scanner
04:15side mounted fantastic uh works flawlessly and you also have samsung desktop support and all the
04:21little bells and whistles with one ui is on board with the reverse wireless charging and stuff like
04:26that uh this phone actually still has pretty good cameras a 12 megapixel standard 16 megapixel ultra
04:32wide 4k video at 60 with a 10 megapixel selfie at 4k 60 you get awesome image quality on here
04:39especially for an older flagship especially with the price you're paying fantastic photos and
04:44honestly I don't have anything negative to say about the s and e's cameras just because of the
04:49price and you know to performance ratio it's just too good to really say anything negative here
04:54uh I guess the one downside with this phone is that it does have a 3100 milliamp battery
04:5915 watt charging you do have wireless charging on here with the reverse wireless charging
05:04but this phone will give you around 4 hours and 30 minutes of screen on time which is technically
05:09not enough for a day a day's use has to be around that 6 hours of screen on time so a battery life
05:15you know you are gonna have to get it like a battery pack or if you're a light user you can
05:19get away with using this phone all day but if you're heavy in the games and stuff like that
05:23heavy applications you're gonna need to bring a battery pack with you all right next is the
05:28newest compact smartphone the iphone 13 mini came out I think like two months ago a phenomenal
05:34device guys this is really awesome if you want one of the latest flagships that's really small
05:40it's an aluminum frame ip68 dust and water resistant really tiny phone guys at 5.4 inches
05:45for the display but the body size is just tiny it's crazy it's got the super retina xdr oled
05:50display it's a beautiful display 1080p 476 for the ppi like I said great display very color accurate
05:58very sharp display this is an extremely powerful phone the most powerful phone on this list
06:03by benchmarks apple a15 chip ios 15 128 gigs of internal storage 4 gigs of ram no sd card support
06:12of course and just a phenomenal phone for gaming and this thing is just blazing fast I mean it is
06:19super fast getting into applications multitasking bouncing around it is a very powerful phone we do
06:25have stereo speakers which have excellent bass quality just very loud speakers in general so I
06:30really love that it has nfc with your apple pay face id is still on board with this guy and I
06:36would say the best cameras you know on this list here just phenomenal cameras as far as color
06:42accuracy detail it is just some just excellent video just some just some beautiful cameras on
06:49here 12 megapixel standard 12 megapixel ultra wide it shoots in 4k 60 30 and 24 then we have a 12
06:57megapixel selfie that shoots in 4k 60 30 25 and 24 so like I said if you want the best you know
07:04cameras and the fastest phone it would be the 13 mini but it's going to cost you around like 700
07:09bucks so it's a little bit on the more expensive side so you do have on here 2438 milliamp battery
07:17with 18 watt charging magsafe wireless charging at 15 and then wireless charging at 7.5 so this
07:24phone has phenomenal battery life it has the best battery life on this list I think it's due to the
07:29a15 chip just phenomenal this phone will easily get you 6 hours and 30 minutes if not more it's
07:37just phenomenal so the battery life if you're worried about a smaller phone battery life this
07:42is probably one of the only phones that can get you like all day battery life easily so extremely
07:47impressed with this phone this year all right next is the iphone 12 mini which i think is an
07:51extremely good deal because they're going for 512 bucks if you guys haven't seen my refurbished
07:56unboxing it is just a phenomenal deal i got it for like six something so now that it's
08:01uh five something that is just crazy uh so this phone is basically the 13 mini but the battery
08:07life is just not as good but pretty much everything else is the same so you're getting a flagship phone
08:12um and it's the same design pretty much with slightly different camera design aluminum frame
08:16glass back ip68 dust and water resistant same screen size so it is these are the smallest
08:22phones that you can get by the way i believe so the the 12 mini and 13 mini these are like
08:27the smallest flagship phones you can get they're super small uh super rena xdr oled display 5.4
08:34inches again 1080p 476 for the ppi another beautiful display very color accurate the notch
08:41on here is a little bit bigger um the 13 minis is 20 smaller but overall it's not going to make that
08:48much of a difference the apple a14 chip is basically still as fast as the a15 chip it's
08:53not going to be that big of a difference in real life uh you also have 64 gigs of internal storage
08:58and 4 gigs of ram on the base model so take that into consideration uh you do have on here the same
09:04sound stereo speakers to me uh nfc with apple pay face id on here is phenomenal the cameras to me
09:11look exactly the same um so i wouldn't say that the 13 mini has a massive upgrade because it just i
09:17just didn't see it um but you do have a 12 megapixel standard 12 megapixel ultra wide 4k video
09:2360 30 24 and then you have a 12 megapixel selfie at 60 30 24 that shoots in 4k like i said to me
09:31you're getting the same kind of photos i think for an average photo taker you're really going to
09:36struggle to notice the difference between the 13 mini and the 12 mini um but phenomenal photos
09:41nonetheless and excellent video quality with this guy as well now this one has a 2227 milliamp battery
09:48with 20 watt charging again with the magsafe wireless charging at 15 and the wireless charging
09:54at 7.5 the 12 mini kind of falls in line with the s10e it can get you around that 4 hours and 30
10:00minutes uh screen on time again if you're like a normal to heavy user a lighter user maybe you can
10:06kind of squeeze a day out of here if you're really light on the phone but battery life is just not
10:10super phenomenal on this phone uh but everything else is just absolutely awesome about this device
10:16next is the asus zenfone 8 guys this is a phenomenal phone here uh this year i absolutely
10:21love this phone so it comes in at a 5.9 inch display 1080p uh super amoled 120 hertz so it
10:30is a phenomenal and beautiful display 446 for the ppi and like i said at 5.9 inches it's under
10:366 inches so it's not too big i think when i had it um it wasn't too big it didn't feel too big
10:42even though i know that would seem like a little big to you guys but i'm telling you once you get
10:46it in the hand you're going to notice that this might be a sweet spot it's really in line with
10:50the s10e as far as size goes um but like i said it's a really nice feeling phone so i think you
10:56know i really don't think it's too big for you guys android 11 on here snapdragon 888 adreno 660
11:03one of the most powerful uh phones i think second to like the 13 mini uh just is going to blow
11:08through pretty much anything you throw at it and like i said this is the only phone on the list
11:13with 120 hertz display so it's going to feel faster than all of these phones on the list
11:17as far as scrolling swiping playing games that are compatible with it it really does feel extremely
11:23fast um so just gaming and doing anything on this phone is phenomenal this phone does not have any
11:28sd card support unfortunately you get 128 gigs of internal storage 6 gigs of ram stereo speakers
11:34are on here super loud crazy bass you're gonna absolutely love that and they actually kept the
11:39headphone jack which is crazy too nfc is on board and you have a dual camera setup 64 megapixel
11:45standard 12 megapixel ultra wide 8k video at 24 and a 12 megapixel selfie that's using 4k 30
11:53awesome awesome cameras on here um so i really like the images i think they're definitely up there
11:59uh with flagship quality photos so i really didn't have any complaints uh with that but this phone
12:04has a super speedy under the display fingerprint sensor as well as a 4000 milliamp battery at 30
12:11watts so this phone charges extremely fast absolutely love it and you also have reverse
12:15charging on here now here's the thing about the battery life battery life on this phone wasn't
12:20that impressive even with the 4000 milliamps i think it was due to the 120 hertz display on here
12:26um you know which just just looks kind of a small battery with 120 hertz it's just kind of
12:31a bit much i think for this display size um but you know battery life was around the s10e again
12:37most of these phones really can only do like the 4 hours and 30 minutes that's why i said the 13
12:42minute was just really impressive this year uh but nonetheless this is an excellent powerful phone
12:48now last is going to be the iphone se 2020 this has the absolute smallest screen on the list
12:54at 4.7 inches 720p plus 326 for the ppi uh ip67 dust and water resistant it keeps the body style
13:03of the iphone 8 um so basically if you want the absolute smallest screen and it's going to have
13:09the best specs as far as speed and this actually has a great camera uh this is going to be the
13:14best bet and it comes in at now a little bit under 300 bucks so it's kind of cheap uh apple
13:20813 chip on here ios 15 um it's just blazing fast still 64 gigs of internal storage 3 gigs of ram
13:28on here uh this thing can play pretty much any game you throw at it at high settings it is
13:34definitely a beast when it comes to performance um basically you have stereo speakers on here they
13:40sound pretty good for the size of this phone's it being so tiny so um they're not the loudest on
13:45the list but they sound pretty decent and also i think a highlight with this phone is the camera so
13:50it's got a 12 megapixel standard 4k video 24 30 60 i think the camera is phenomenal the only thing
13:57that ages the camera is that it's just one lens there's no ultra wide no telephoto you just have
14:02one lens but if you don't take a bunch of pictures like that uh this camera is going to be excellent
14:07for you it even does pretty decent low light as well seven megapixel selfie also does pretty good
14:12so to me this takes way better photos than what the prices uh suggest here uh 300 bucks it takes
14:19photos up there with six seven hundred dollar phones um so i was really happy with image quality
14:24the touch id is also a really nice feature for people who want a physical home button
14:29and you you know you're not interested in the face id that's also another good option
14:34again battery life is kind of mediocre on this phone 1821 milliamps 18 hours of screen on time or
14:4118 hour fast charging wireless charging is on board with this phone which is awesome
14:47basically your screen on time is like four hours 30 minutes or something like that so
14:51nothing too crazy like it's pretty much a trend at this point with these smaller phones
14:56so that is pretty much it i want to add a um honorable mention the pixel 5a 5g that is an
15:05awesome phone but it comes in at like 6.3 inches i didn't think it was too big but i think that's
15:11too big for most people that are looking for a compact phone but me personally i thought it was
15:15a pretty nice size uh honestly um but that has a great camera excellent battery life i mean
15:21phenomenal battery life a pretty decent chip um i really like the phone great screen um and pure
15:28google software it's just awesome um so yeah but that might be too big for you guys so but still
