00:00Ah, but, ah, but, ah, but, ah, but, ah, but, ah, but,
00:04and everybody puts their hand in the middle.
00:06Hi Vogue, I'm Rosie, I'm Rosé.
00:15Today I'm going to be making you kimchi fried rice
00:18and somaek, my favorite drink to drink while playing APT.
00:24APT is the name of my single that just dropped
00:28and APT is actually a Korean drinking game
00:31that I love to play with my friends.
00:33I'm so nervous.
00:35In Korea, you call beer, mekju.
00:38So you mix the two words, so from soju
00:41and mek from mekju, so it's called somaek.
00:44And it's just like a perfect combination
00:46between soju and beer.
00:48It just makes the beer a little more alcoholic,
00:50which we love.
00:53And then I'm gonna make my favorite snack
00:55to have my somaek with.
00:57My friends are gonna laugh at me when they see this.
00:59They're gonna be like, I can't believe
01:01that you showed the world how to make
01:04cheongyang mayo sauce with this pepper.
01:08It's called cheongyang gochujang.
01:10And then it's like the combination between that and mayo.
01:14But then we have it with our dry squid
01:17and it's like really good, it's perfect.
01:22And you just mix it like this.
01:25And you do that.
01:29Let me taste it.
01:33Mm-hmm, so good.
01:36That's literally it.
01:38So basically, we were hanging out in the studio
01:40and I was like, how about I teach you guys
01:42some drinking games, Korean drinking games?
01:44And then I started doing it.
01:45Appatsu, which is apartment shortened.
01:48And so it basically goes appatsu, appatsu,
01:50appatsu, appatsu, appatsu, appatsu,
01:53and then everyone puts their hand in the middle.
01:54It's my random game.
01:56So it's like Rosie's favorite game, games.
01:58I call out a number in my head
02:00as everyone's putting their hands in the middle
02:02and I say nine.
02:03And everyone stacks their hand from bottom up.
02:05Whoever's at the bottom is like,
02:07one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.
02:09And whoever gets on top has to take the shot.
02:12And I did it and they were obsessed with it.
02:13And by the way, in the process of this,
02:16you should never touch your eyes.
02:18You'll just be crying the whole night.
02:20And so we were playing APT and the next day I was like,
02:24okay, today's the day I think we should write the song.
02:26And we did.
02:28But then I remember going home kind of freaked out.
02:30I was like, is this okay that I've written a song
02:32about a drinking game?
02:34Is this too unserious?
02:35And so I got all of the producers and songwriters
02:38to delete the song off of their phones.
02:41For a while, they had no idea what I'd be talking about.
02:44I'd be like, oh, by the way, I played a few people at APT
02:46and they were like, what song are you talking about?
02:48And I was like, oh my God, I totally forgot.
02:51I made everyone delete it off their phones.
02:54But then I'm like, bring it back out, bring it back out.
02:56People are obsessed with it.
02:58And then we finished it off.
02:59So I do that, get the mayonnaise
03:02and then just pour a little bit of soy sauce.
03:06I like to make the chili big,
03:08but see this is like only because I love spicy things.
03:11I feel like most people would probably
03:13find it a bit too spicy.
03:15Oh yes, yes, you're smart, thank you.
03:19I'm obsessed with cilantro and I put it with everything.
03:22This is going to be so controversial
03:23because I'm sure there's a lot of people who hate cilantro,
03:26but I think I'm a bit weird though.
03:29This is my own thing.
03:38Last year, Bruno came to perform in Korea, in Seoul.
03:43And my friend was like,
03:44do you want to go watch Bruno Mars concert?
03:46And so ever since then, I was like, oh my God,
03:48I love Bruno Mars and I like play his songs all the time.
03:51Fast forward, somebody set up like a meeting
03:54with him and I and I met him and I was like,
03:57I was fan calling so much.
03:59He like jumped on the song
04:00and he had all these like crazy ideas for it.
04:04I have like three other interviews today.
04:08Ta-da!
04:09All you need is a whole chunk of kimchi,
04:12the good old spam, gochujang, so chili paste,
04:18olive oil, eggs, and rice.
04:21Oh, and sugar.
04:23Sugar, my mom told me not to put it in,
04:24but it makes the whole thing so much better.
04:27And that's how you make kimchi fried rice.
04:29Okay, let's get started.
04:30Can everybody tell I'm like really nervous right now?
04:33Let's set the record straight.
04:35I was born in New Zealand and I moved to Australia
04:37when I was eight years old,
04:39took an open audition amongst a thousand other contestants
04:43who were dying to be a K-pop star.
04:45To my absolutely surprise, they were like,
04:48you know, stop everything you're doing,
04:50can you fly to Korea in two months?
04:52I trained for four years and then at the end of four years,
04:55I was 20 and I came out as Blackpink,
04:56wait, I guess 19 in American age.
04:59Doing Blackpink for eight years and I'm still doing it,
05:01but this year is the year of my album, so.
05:05My album name is Rosie and it's called that
05:08because my friends and family call me Rosie.
05:12As much as this album really is kind of a reflection of,
05:16I would say the past four years of my life,
05:20all the stories that I've had
05:22that I haven't ever really been able to show,
05:24all of that put into this album
05:26and I wanted everyone to feel like
05:28they were that much closer to me
05:30and so that's why it's called Rosie.
05:32If you listen to it from top to bottom
05:36and you know like 80% of the lyrics off by heart,
05:39then you may call me Rosie.
05:42I am killing the knife game.
05:46Just gonna put that on the pan before it gets hot.
05:48And then the controversial spam, here we go.
05:52Yep.
05:53What is spam?
05:54I don't even know.
05:55I'm sure it's edible meat.
05:58Let's hope.
05:59Designer gloves.
06:01But you know what I noticed?
06:03I might be wrong, but I feel like Korean spam
06:06tastes a bit better.
06:09Am I causing drama?
06:11I grew up eating really healthy.
06:13My mom would be like, she's kind of like a health freak
06:15and I was pretty good with whatever she gave me.
06:19I think I kind of created this love for spam
06:22over my trainee years.
06:24We would eat some crazy things like dumplings.
06:27It's like the frozen ones that you buy at the store
06:29and then you boil it in water.
06:31That with oriental dressing, it's beautiful.
06:37This is when you have to be careful.
06:41Oh my God, it smells so good.
06:45Yes, we have the kimchi in here and the spam in here.
06:47We're just gonna like cook it for a little bit.
06:49And then I'm gonna use this.
06:51What's fancy, usually I just use a spoon.
06:57You guys want to see?
06:58I have to start a cooking show now.
07:02So this morning I actually had my very first meeting.
07:05It was like offline and I was really shocked
07:07because that was the first time I was talking
07:09about the album coming out.
07:10And to my surprise, I actually cried.
07:15And I was like, why am I crying?
07:17And I made the best of it and I was like,
07:18this is happy tears by the way.
07:19I'm not sad in any type of way.
07:21I'm really, really happy.
07:22I always knew it is something very personal to me
07:25but it's been a long journey.
07:28It hasn't been the easiest
07:30because in the process of me writing this album,
07:34I was trying to be independent.
07:36I was out here trying to navigate
07:39this next chapter of my life.
07:40And so whilst also like really, really happy moments
07:44in the studio where I felt like
07:46I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
07:48This is when I put like a little bit of the kimchi thingy
07:52and then I drizzle it a little bit of sugar.
07:56I remember being in a studio
07:58when I recorded for the first time.
08:00I was like, oh my God,
08:01I want to do this for the rest of my life.
08:03It was like my own personal like therapy session basically.
08:07But I really cannot wait for my fans to listen to my music
08:10and feel that much closer to me
08:12because it really is like a lot of my personality
08:15that my friends and family know.
08:17I'm feeling really nervous.
08:19This never gets easy.
08:21Okay, no, I suck already.
08:23This was supposed to be heated.
08:26Gordon Ramsay would kill me.
08:30I'm scared guys.
08:34Please cut this out.
08:40Okay, I'm gonna turn this off.
08:43Oh, now my hands are sweaty.
08:45It's so heavy.
08:49The plating is the most important, is it not?
08:53It looks really good.
08:55You guys are gonna think I'm crazy,
08:57but I always have it with a side of cilantro,
09:01like a whole side of cilantro.
09:04Stunning, beautiful with the side of cilantro.
09:07Cilantro makes everything beautiful.
09:09Do you want me to tell you a secret
09:11that I've never told anyone in the world?
09:13My ultimate dream of life is to be retired
09:18and to own a cilantro farm.
09:20I'm gonna have like a Michelin chef
09:23create a full cilantro course menu.
09:26And then it's just gonna be like a winery,
09:28but like it's like a cilantro-y.
09:30And I'm gonna call it the cilantro farm.
09:34It's genius.
09:36And I'm just gonna sit by my cilantro farm
09:38and have my like cilantro cocktail.
09:42That's my dream, guys.
09:44That's what I'm gonna be doing when I'm old.
09:47But here you go.
09:49That's my beautiful kimchi fried rice.
09:53Just get the perfect bite with the egg yolk.
09:56Yolk is my favorite part.
09:58Here we go.
10:01Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
10:08I'm really proud.
10:09This is the first thing I'm doing today.
10:11This is like already the best day of my life.
10:13I think I'm ready to go back and have more of this,
10:15more of that with my staff.
10:18It's so good.
10:22Yummy.
10:26I'm announcing it here.
10:27Vogue, this is an announcement.
10:28And only Vogue viewers get to know about this
10:31in 20 to 30 years.
10:33I'll have my own cilantro farm.
10:35It's gonna be called the cilantro farm.
10:37We better like trademark that.
10:40Bye, thank you.
