00:00HBO is giving more details about their new Harry Potter series.
00:04During a recent conversation in Cannes, Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of Warner Brothers
00:08Television Group, gave updates on all of the studio's big projects like Shrinking,
00:13Abbott Elementary, Ted Lasso and more.
00:15But one that's really had everyone talking is the Harry Potter reboot.
00:18There's not a lot to talk about at this moment. We've got our fantastic writing staff in place,
00:23and they are doing what they need to do. And casting calls have opened up in the UK and Ireland,
00:27so the process is moving along. It's going quite well.
00:30When probed further on the excitement of having an IP like Harry Potter to play with,
00:34Dungey said,
00:35It's an unbelievable dream, honestly.
00:37And as somebody who is a huge fan of books, the opportunity to get to explore them,
00:41maybe a little bit more in-depth than you can in just a two-hour film,
00:45that's the whole reason we're on this journey.
00:47In June, the series named Francesca Gardner as its writer and showrunner,
00:51and tapped Mark Milot to direct multiple episodes. Both are Emmy winners for HBO's Succession.
00:56Elsewhere, Dungey also gave an update on Ted Lasso, noting that star,
01:00head writer and co-creator Jason Sudeikis is really excited about the upcoming season 4.
01:05We had always been clear that there wasn't going to be more Ted Lasso if Jason and the
01:09team weren't feeling excited about it. I can tell you firsthand that he's in a place where
01:13he's feeling really excited and very good about it. For more on this story, head to THR.com.
